Devil Summoner (The healing touch)

Only seconds after he was laid down, Miles' hands flew to his head and he screamed bloody murder, his body arching in pain as he did so.

"Make it stop! Make it stop!", he screamed, his voice becoming hoarse but he still didn't stop screaming. Then two voices were erupting in the scream, his eyes became glassy and he arched in a way that could have broken his back if he went any further into it. He kicked and wailed, every muscle in his body becoming tense as he thrashed about.

He place the Angel arm onto his stomach forcing a foul brew down his stomach that should help for a moment. "Listen to only my voice" he ordered the boy as he began to rub his stomach he placed the hot water bottle on his head. He smiled rubbing lower over his stomach then back up to his chest it was nice and firm. "You know i think if you just listen to my voice you can relax" he smiled kissing her head.

"Stop it! Stop it!", the two voices howled, "the Count! I want the Count! Not you, the Count!", he shoved Taro away, scratching him with his nails, aiming for his face when he kissed him and catching the man's cheek. Arching up violently the boy continued to scream until finally he fell silent and his body became lax, his eyes were like glass; one might have thought he were dead other than the fact that the eyes were moving to look around.

He felt his face the four small wounds were bleeding he looked down at the boy then wrapped his arms around him. "I wont give upon you" he smiled and stroked his hair he woudl not let him push him away again. He moved his hand over his back trying to comfort the boy he was acting like a addict or a rabid animal. "You know you are so sweet you have to make it" he felt more like a father then a doctor.

Again the boy scratched at him and knocked him away, sitting up when he hit the floor.

"You're a foolish one", the two voices softly, the face was the same as before, a crooked, evil smile graced it, "You removed our main obstacle, we are free and it's all because of you~" The boy grinned wider, "how shall we thank you?", the voices giggled. The boy's skin was blistering and bubbling as it slowly turned a vibrant red, it looked like he were being cooked alive and yet the devil possessing him registered no pain.

He laughed the healing light emanated from his arm and face healing the wounds that he had received from the demon. "you want that weak boy when you can have me, are you that pathetic" he sat at the foot of the boy demons could not be reasoned with or threatened they had no emotions. "Ok what do you want" he asked only trying to distract him as he slapped the seal onto the boy. This was am much harder test and would push his demon summoning skills to the breaking point.

"Silly human, we have what we want", the voices cackled, "we have the body that we want, we have the boy's will, we have the one thing that Thanatos values in our possession. There is nothing you could offer us that we would desire to take" The demon was not foolish, it would not be distracted, it watched Taro keenly.

He laughed the demon did not know him very well he woudl not give up without a fight slowly he began to lower the temperature of the room. "but can you live through a mini ice age" already the walls were frozen. A sheer coating of ice that would make escape impossible even for a demon. "you can die with the boy or come over her" he offered drinking some iced water miles would only suffer but he had no choice.

The voices cackled ruthlessly.

"And when Thanatos comes calling on your door how will you appease him?", the smile widened and the demon sat cross legged on the bed, "Can you please death it's self? Thanatos is Death, this boy is his lover, he's been 'dead' for quite some time" An evil laugh escaped the boy, "You're trying to save someone who has already died, that's rather stupid~"

He tilted his head to the side the living dead were not unheard of though they did not look so often pristine. "well he has a soul i am not trying to save his life i am trying to save his soul" he was like a priest of the old world. Of course crosses had no affect on demons it was a good day to save a soul. You know i think i could get used to seeing you so afraid you know you cant win" he laughed mocking the demon.

A voice spoke to the right of the doctor and the boy veered back violently in fear, gasping and scrambling away.

"His soul has always been free, he stays because he chooses to", the Count was standing beside Taro, his halo of coffins raised. The voices screeched and stuttered.

"Th-Thanatos!"

He watched death float over next to the boy he was not impressed he had seen the edge of the world life death he defied both each day. "He does not look happy, and you could not save him from this place" it was a place of healing but it was no home there was no family or meals or any other comforts. "Tell me have you done whats best for him or what you're own heart desires" he asked Death.

The boy tried to get away but the Count reached down and picked him up, when he touched him, the voices screamed and faded away. The sores melted away, leaving not a mark, there was no decay, no sign that anything had ever been awry. The dead boy wrapped his arms around the Count and cuddled up to him.

Somehow Thanatos looked distraught as he turned back to look at the doctor, Miles held securely in his arms, "he is content with me, he is safe with me, he will never die with me. He has no family, it was I who brought him here, I ferried his family across the river long ago and now it is I that am left with him. I started this with the intention to return him to his family, someone so pure should not have been taken by a demon, but when that proved to be impossible I was forced to keep him; over time I became selfish and in the end chose not to ferry him like I did his family."

"But I suppose that it is that selfishness that in the end brought us to this, Miles is a very valuable soul, one that is kissed by death is rare in this world. So in the end it is my fault that there are hundreds of demons waiting-no-clamoring to possess him; that is why I brought him to you, I was hoping to persuade you to bless him...but if it means losing him, I will take him and we will return from whence we came..."

A long blood line gave him gifts few could claim but not even he could overcome death itself but he was a smart man. "What about his life, what will he do can you love him back as a demon do you even know what that means" he asked him the smile fading from his face death was in love or thought he was with a dead boy. He held out his hand to the boy there was little he could offer him in this cruel world.

"I wont say the world is good, its not always but there are tastes, smells and touches in this world" he smiled standing up he placed his hand on the boys face death offered him nothing but the pain of reality. He smiled as he turned away slowly fixing his glasses he already cared so much for the boy. "You have to live, death is the eventual fate of all creatures, as for demons i have the skill the time and desire to fight them"

"If I left him with you, what would you do? Would you keep him for me until I can take him back?", his hand pressed to the small of Miles back and pulled the boy against him, "Would you hold him as I do when it is dark? Would you sustain his life force as I do? Would you? Do you think that a human such as yourself, with no control over life and death, would be able to keep his body animated so that his soul can habitate it?"

"In the end his body would decay and he would become grotesque to you, you would shun him like the lepers who are damned to such a fate. Other humans would not understand, they would want to know why his flesh is cold even in the hottest environment. They would ask you why he is so pale, why he does not age, why his body rots, could you answer all of those questions and not be committed yourself?" Both the Count and Miles watched the man curiously.

[I hope I am not boring you XD]

He laughed holding his hand up it began to shine like nothing that could be imagined in hell or earth "I can take care of him but what do you have to loose you cold always take his soul back and place him in a new body, or are you in love with his body" he asked the angel of death he made a small cut on his own arm and healed it. "so give me a chance ill bless the child and if i fail you can take him back"

"You know i think you will find he can be happy without you" he held out his arms wondering what death would do. If he wanted he could just kill him now he was a strong mortal but only a mortal who could die. "You should choose now" death was not forever he came and went but that was longer then he was around. He looked at the boy who seemed to have fallen asleep in deaths arms so peaceful.

The Count watched him for a long moment before bending and ever so gently waking the boy that was in his arms.

"Miles, wake up please, I need to talk to you", the boy seemed to ignore him and only cuddled closer to him. Easing himself out of the boy's grasp, the Count hovered above the boy before sinking down with him. Miles rubbed his eyes tiredly before the Count ran a thumb along either eye and tipped the child's head up so he could look at him.

"Miles? If I left you here for a little while, would you be happy with that?", the boy looked like he wasn't registering the words, "Miles, if I leave you here with Dr. Taro, would you be happy with that?" The boy looked from the Count to Taro and back.

"We're not going home?", he asked, a soft laugh escaped the Count.

"I am, Miles, but- you are not...", the boy suddenly looked alarmed.

"What? Never?", another laugh came from the Count.

"Just for a little while..."

"How long...?"

"50 years", again the boy looked alarmed.

"No!", he said to the Count before he wrapped himself around the entity and held on, he turned to Taro, "No! No!" Death spoke softly.

"Come now, the time will pass quickly and I will still see you. I will come visit you now and again at night; I will take you-briefly-to that special place and I will hold you until morning comes", Miles still didn't seem convinced but allowed himself to be peeled from the being.

Summoners aged slower then humans but not as slow as the dead or the immortal 50 years was at least 10 to even a summoner like him. "You can trust that i wont let anything happen to him" he pulled a blanket up and over the boy, after all that happened he needed some rest. 50 years was a long time but it was not like he was in love with him, he loved him. He smiled and ran his fingers through his hair.

It was wrong for a mortal to be with someone who was not he would continue to change as the boy did not. "But you must not try and change his mind he must decide for himself" he smiled he had know a few immortals life was one of them the creature had let him borrow her left arm for his life. She did not need it as life and death had not aged in such a span as to have almost forgotten it.

"I would never dream of changing his mind, but I warn you now, if he is damaged in any way while he is in your care not even Life will be able to save you from my wrath", the entity growled, looming over the human, "you will join those in my coffins"

He sat at the desk and began to do work ignoring death he had a lot to do but he could not leave miles behind. "You can go i will take care of him" 50 years what should he do treat him like a son, a brother, a lover. the boy may be older then he was he smiled watching the boy sleep as he did paperwork. "so what wrong with the world, why did he die" he wondered trying to figure out why he took miles.

"He was murdered by a demon who thought to offer him to me as a bargain to lend him my power", the Count said lightly, standing beside the man who was sitting at the desk.

he did not look up at the demon he simple signed the insurance papers some for payment others after death. "So sad i know a lot of people die every year" he wondered why the demon had not left him alone. He shook his head and continued only an hour or so before work was over "well you leaving" he asked starting the days personal shredding.

The only reply was the soft mumbling of Miles as he slept, the Count had vanished.

[we can do a time lapse if you want to]

He took the boy up in his arms placing him in the car it was far more rare in these days but becoming far more common. "You can come to my place you don't need to be here" he smiled stroking his hair as he drove. He lived in a small dojo outside of town no one bothered him these days unless they called first. "At least that count is gone" he placed him into bed then lay next to him on top of the blankets.

An echoey voice hissed in the man's ear.

"I am far from gone~", Miles moaned softly and rolled over; there was no one there besides him.

Death entered Life's hall in something of a fury, she was sitting there, one armed and on her throne, he had souls to ferry across the river waiting, but they could wait a moment or two.

"I need your help", he said lightly, coming to stand before her.
