L looked over the many files that laid on his desk. It was obvious that these were all connected, natural cause or not. How are so many people like his going to have heart attacks? He noticed how they were all criminals, that had to be a sign to what was going on. It was a sign that someone was doing this.

He studied many places and reasons this could all happen. It must be true, what every body thinks. It's someone doing this and he thinks himself as a god apparently. Placing judgment on people the way he was, was not right at all. So many people think this is right, so many people think this is God doing all these things. L wasn't going to let himself believe that it's God. He was all not going to believe that this is right.

He finally decided after a moment that he was going to help the police on this case. It was really interesting and the police were getting nowhere with there investigation at all. He sighed as he stood up, his decision being finalized. He asked Watari to get him connected with Interpol so that he would be able to tell the world of his plan on helping catch Kira.

A lot of the people who called themselves followers believe that there was not stopping Kira.
He let a small smirk cross his face for at least a second, 'I'll stop Kira.'

Reya walked out of the school going to her extra curricular class, that was being a junior detective in the police department along with Yagami Light. Though she had a lot more to accomplish unlike the child possessed prodigy. She was down to earth and can learn about mysteries but then she needed more time. She had been given the chance to be on an active case for her studies. Though this one was dangerous she would take it on. While she walked on the school grounds suddenly a black notebook landed to her side.

Reya was curious and she headed toward the small object that had fallen out of the sky literally. Her eyes gave one small blink as she picked it up and it read 'death note' she opened it noticed that it had rules on the front cover and notebook pages. Shaking her head she stuck it in her bag and headed on toward her case she was involved in. When she arrived at the police station they knew her and she made her way up to the Kira case room. When she entered the Chief of Police was giving some information on how Kira was operating. Instead of making herself known she went and sat down at one of the tables and took out her notebook.

~Hm, Kira a god...I don't know if I should think this is right. Bad guys are good guys too right? I mean they are human...~ She thought as she tapped her pencil on the notebook taking notes when she noticed something important. Her eyes just continued to scan the board and she was allowed to go with them to meetings and everything if her case was to have a special meeting she was allowed to leave school for it. Despite the fact she nearly was done with it and would be going to college soon.

The police were at a loss when it came to catching Kira. They didn't think anything through very well and they didn't act very smart about doing it. They found a few clues, sure, but without L's help there was no hope for them. Even when they tried their hardest they didn't get anywhere. Of course, L did think that they weren't really trying their hardest at all. It really seemed they were to focus on other things, things they thought were more important. Even some of the police were starting to think Kira as a good thing.

When L finally got in contact with Interpol he made sure that he was able to weed out the people that were not willing to help. He was lucky to find the few in Japan that would help him. There were a few other countries that would have agreed to help, but it was so much more convenient for the small group it came down to. With the few people left there was hope that he could find leads on this case even if that meant meeting these officers that are willing to help him. So there, he came face to face with them.

Things had come and gone as Reya suddenly found the Kira case becoming more and more untouchable and things becoming more tense. The police station was now no man's land as everybody began to not want to think or say about the Kira case. However She kept going to it and eventually it was down to a few of them and she looked around. Her eyes couldn't believe how many had already given up due to fear of death. She had that fear too but Kira was a crazy serial killer and now she knew that. It wasn't right for even a god to due such killing. What would come of it? There is no punishment or anything just a quick death and just a lot of blood everywhere. Either this was a god with too much power or a man that couldn't keep his hands off of something.

Reya had thought about that for a long time and then when she had picked up that notebook odd things started to happen. Suddenly there was some sort of monster now floating by her and she couldn't figure out what the hell it was. It claimed to be a Shinigami and her eyes rolled and she ignored it during class but when she was alone she talked to it and figured out that the notebook she picked up was a instrument of death. Something if taken in by the wrong hands could cause death easily and in the form of heart attacks...Suddenly it clicked! Maybe Kira was a man and just using a notebook like this!

She had taken out the notebook while meeting L in the hotel. "L! I think I might have found out something. It was something I picked up...", She said as she knew that this what she carried could get her in trouble but in reality all she had to show was there were no names in it. Also she hadn't used it since she picked it up. "I...haven't used this...at all and so if you get suspition I...haven't done a thing. A monster or it calls itself 'shinigami' had showed up weeks ago and I haven't been able to really use it. Despite the words of the being. But this book...I think it might be a clue...and a big one at that.", She said quickly as she sat down in the couch next to him.

L grabbed the notebook from her with two spidery fingers as if it was diseased. He looked over the cover of the notebook. "'Death Note, hmm?" He stared at the front for a long time at an angle before opening it up with one hand and flipping through the pages, "Interesting..." He found a list of 'rules' and examined them closely. He opened his mouth wide as he stared at it in what seemed like horror.

He dropped it after a moment not even caring that it landed on the floor, "This ... Kira must have one of these. Thank you Reya-san."

"This can be very useful to us and will help in the investigation," As he looked up he saw the shinigami floating over her, his eyes widen much more than they already naturally were. "A Shinigami... they are real." he ignored the monster, trying hard not to be to horrified at it. "You've been carrying this around with you the entire time?" He asked her curiously before he had questions for the shinigami he had to question Reya first.

Reya nodded, "yes...I had seen it fall out of the sky one day. I thought that maybe one of the other students were playing a joke. That they dropped the book from one of the second floors. Though this doesn't look like anything that I have seen. I held onto it not knowing what to think of it until I read the rules a lot more carefully and noted that whoever writes in it can send anybody to death. Anybody that doesn't have a 'planned' way to die they die of heart attacks. When this hit me I thought that you could use this more. Plus this shinigami has been following me around asking me to do something with it. I have ignored her for the most part but she can be pretty persistent." She explained as she looked at him more closely. She hoped she didn't do anything wrong by showing this to him.

The shinigami smirked, "So you finally gave it to your head detective? I suspect you would have done that Reya. You never struck me as somebody that would enjoy being able to judge. I have heard of this shinigami that had come down and now he is floating with another human. I thought to cause some more problems myself." She butted into the conversation as Reya had just finished. "Regardless now he can see me and I can see a little of him flinching.", She said as her face went back to a black expression though the rest of her body fluttered there. ((Think Ryuk without the smile and the body be pink where it is black))

L looked up at the shinigami before back at Reya. "It's surprising you weren't curious enough to try it out. Or... did you?" He flipped the pages more and scanned over the empty ones trying to find any that had been written on. "For the most part...? What exactly does that mean?" He asked her skeptical. He had to admit that he wanted to try it himself, but it would be with good use, not like Kira.

He looked back up at the shinigami, finding it best to not ignore her, "Can you find Kira for us?" He asked her. Maybe the shinigami could be of us to him or not. She didn't have to answer him, there wasn't anything he could do to a shinigami if he was ignored.

Eyrin looked down at him, "Help you? No...I don't help humans, I let them boil in their own minds about what they would like to do with the notebook I happened to drop down from the sky. Also your fellows are getting worried you better put them at ease." She said softly as she sat there in the air as the rest of the group including the Chief of Police was standing there his mouth agape. "They look cute but I think those faces don't mean something good. Well, you better say something to them.", She said as she just continued to hang in the air like she normally did. It was up to the user's discretion with the notebook. IF they wanted to start then they'd start but if they didn't want to then they didn't have to. She would just be there for the time while they made up their mind.

Reya frowned, "I...had thought about using it...but when you go on about how Kira is killing constantly and that it is wrong. I felt like I was betraying the team." She said softly as she played with her fingers. She didn't have the confidence that Light had but she had the ambition to become a great detective. While she fiddled with her fingers she looked back at L, "What are you planning?" She asked softly as her hair bounced some with her facial gesture.

"I see, so you wont be help on finding him, but you can give us some information correct?" He bent over, carefully steadying himself so that he didn't fall out of his set. He picked up the notebook and handed it to the Chief, "Here, this will make things more clearer, and if you would, please pass it around the room."

The Chief of Police took the notebook and looked it over. "Death Note?" It seemed to super natural. He looked through it before looking up and screaming in horror. There it was, the thing that L had apparently been talking to this entire time. He shoved the notebook into someone else's hands and looked back at it.

"Very good Reya-san. I am proud of you. I am afraid though, I need to keep a close eye on you anyways." He said honestly. "I know you that you have a kind heart, but you must understand my reasoning on this." He sighed and took his coffee cup and dipped a sugar cube into it before rapping his tongue around the cube. "I cannot express all my plans to you at this moment, but they will come to you soon."

Reya sighed, "I hope...I didn't incriminate myself...but of course L." She said softly as she looked over at the others and hoped they didn't think her any lower. When she thought of what Kira was doing she felt horribly offended. The 'god' had made a mockery of anything that was supposed to be natural.

Eyrin looked at L giggling some, "You think that I will hand information? Hm, maybe...just depending on what you want to hear. If I feel that you are asking for help as you did earlier I will refuse it." She said softly as she smirked floating there as she waited for the genius detective. Her eyes floated over the other group members. "How do you like seeing me?", She said smirking at the other members.

"Please don't worry about it to much Reya-san." He said over at her, "You just need to stay here with me. You could look at it as giving me extra help." L explained and put the cube in his mouth and let it melt.

He looked up at the shinigami before him, "Fine then, I understand if you are going to not help us. I guess it is not really in your place. We are lucky that someone like Reya picked it up or we'd have another Kira to deal with. That person could have been worse than the previous one.

"It's... it's talking to us." Matsuda studdard over his words and pointed up at the shinigami. The other members stared with wide eyes and trying to contain their composers. "Please don't kill us Shinigami..."

The Chief rolled his eyes at him and looked back up at the shinigami, "Is there anything at all you could tell us though? Anything about shinigami's or the Death Note?"

Eyrin smirked, "You want to know...there is two others...but again ...something for you to look into. How do you think you saw me in the first place?" She asked them wondering if they would get the idea of just touching the object that killed humans easily gave them the ability to see and view her very presence.

Reya looked at L and nodded, "Of course...I am just glad nobody else got it. Things could have happened and that would have been bad for both of us." She said explaining as she looked around at the group as they nodded in agreement to what she had said. She might be under watch but in reality she hadn't wanted to do anything wrong. She didn't have Kira's insight or even will to pull off such a large scale killing in the history of human kind.

The task force stared at the shinigami, all of them were confused about it, but they did have the hint that it was because they touched the Death Note.

"Yes, please do tell us why touching this makes a difference." Yagami said holding up the death note and staring at her.

L nodded at her. She seemed to have a good heart and he took that into consideration. Maybe a .5 percent that she could even think about being Kira or like Kira in any way. He looked back over at the task force and then at the shinigami. The chief had a good question and L watched her to see how she would answer.

Reya looked over at the shinigami, "I thought you wouldn't tell them anything..." she said watching the shinigami's movements. Her eyes still felt inferior and she looked over at L hoping that he wouldn't completely condemn her. She had grown up wanting to be a detective but she knew she wasn't a great detective but wanted to learn to be one. She glanced but then again threw her gaze back up at the shinigami.

Eyrin kept her grin, "You are a detective...figure it out. If you can see me...what happens?..." She asked the chief of police that question. It was rhetorical and possibly maybe had to be explained but she wouldn't be the one to do it. She had noticed L's movements and she knew that the genius had some idea to what was going on but she would let him figure it out, he was smart enough. "Well, you turn.", Eyrin said floating there watching them boil over the information she had given out in meager detail.

"I have just figured that if we touch the notebook, then it meant we can see you... " He wasn't sure what more there was to it. He looked through the notebook again, examining every page. There was a list of rules and he wondered if there were any about touching the notebook.

By this point L had stood up and he was walking in circles around the shinigami, looking her over. "Interesting creature..." He stated before looking up at her face, "Do all shinigami's look alike?" He asked her wondering if they were like humans and all had the same body structure or if they were all as unique as this one. He knew she could answer the question because it was not going to help him at all.

Eyrin looked at L, "Eh sometimes there are odd formed Shinigami but we have a body structure that is universal though our features are drastically different. It doesn't really matter in our world due to the fact it is so boring up there." She said softly as she watched the guy walk around her. It was odd for a human to be this into her, though she was something that doesn't appear at all in the world. She rather loved the attention since she was ignored up in her world which she hated.

Reya couldn't help but feel uncomfortable due to the whole thing about Kira. ~L probably thinks I am Kira...so I need to act like myself.~ Her mind couldn't figure out any other way to act besides that. "So there is others that look like you?", Reya asked as Eyrin looked at her and giggled.

"My good Reya...I am unique ...humans are unique. I mean if everybody looked like L I thought they hadn't seen a day of sun in their lives. But I have seen others that look 'like' him but are different. Think that way for a shinigami, since our features do change from each other.", Eyrin explained as she smiled floating there knowing that the rest of the task force probably was annoyed due to her antics. She didn't care much think it was quite a fun game and that playing with humans was the best thing ever.

L could tell that the shinigami was amused with how the humans wondered so much about her. He also could tell she probably liked knowing more than they did about her race and their own. He stopped circling her and stood in front of her. It was odd to look a shinigami in the eyes, but L did for a short moment before looking away again.

He walked back over at Reya, "No need to worry really. This will give us the time to get to know eachother." He figured she was upset about being accused of being Kira, but he wasn't very sure it was her at all. He acutally believed her for more than most the part, but he had to make sure.

Reya smiled, "Alright L, I understand." She said softly as she looked at him and then at the Shinigami that was getting all the attention. Though she sighed, "Eyrin...stop taking all of their time up...we need to find the killer..." Reya said kind of having the whole thing about her pushed to the back of her head. Kira's motive was unreasonable and downright evil, her thoughts were to take her,him, it down as soon as possible.

"Reya you were always a party pooper. I remember one of your friends saying that to you when they wanted you to drink with them on a Saturday night.", She said giggling as Reya blushed some not liking the fact that Eyrin was bringing up her personal history with everyone.

Reya lashed out, "Eyrin...don't ...say things like that!" She said as she was red with embarrassment. Her anger was second to it as Eyrin knew she had gotten to the female's core with pet peeves or even just annoyance.

"There is nothing wrong with her preferring her work over something like that." L informed the shinigami simply. He was the same way about things, or would be if he had any friends at all. "And we are not here to speak of personal things, not right now." L looked back over at Reya, "All though I would like to know you a little better, for investigation purposes of course. Just to make sure..." He knew she meant that he was doing it just to make sure she was not Kira. He was more sure about her not being than her being, but he still wanted to stay on the safe side.

Reya nodded, "Of course L." She said softly though she knew that he had kept his eye on her. Despite her deposition to the crew she was still a suspect due to the connection with her and the death note. Despite Eyrin's annoyances it wasn't as bad as L staring at her with suspicion. The idea of being Kira to him was low but she could tell that he was debating it in his head. "well, is there anything else we have to go on? Besides my finding of course....", She said trying to shift the subject feeling uncomfortable.

Eyrin just floated there like she normally did and smirked as she listened to Reya's attempts to shift the subject away from her. It was amusing that humans could be worked up over the littlest things. It made her life a lot more interesting due to the fact that the drama in her world was dried out.

The other task force members had slowly gone back to what they had been doing or sitting away from the shinigami and watching it carefully. They did not feel comfortable in the situation they were placed in at all.

"Nothing more really. I am sure you know of Kira surly being in Japan and all." He replied to her and took a sip of his tea that had been sitting there getting cold. "Oh, and if I failed to mention it, you should call me Ryuzaki." He added as he placed the cup on the coffee table.

Reya nodded, "Alright Ryuzaki." She said quickly smiling some as she looked at the other Task members. Her eyes didn't focus on them too much since they weren't pleased with seeing Eyrin. The shinigami did make her life a little more exciting but at what cost? To be placed under suspicion? Reya's eyes just opened up and looked at L-Ryuzaki, "So...what is are next move...Ryuzaki?" She asked and the chief knew that the female detective quite impatient, it was just her way to be that way.

Eyrin let out another giggle at the mood in the room, the investigators didn't like being around her though she loved every moment of it. "Yeah, Ryuzaki...what are you going to do now? huh?", She said in a smart mouthed tone. "Nobody can see me so don't worry about your precious secrets getting out. Besides I don't like helping humans so that is a plus. They would have to touch Reya's death note and even try to take it from her however that is hardly possible. I wouldn't allow it, I selected her for a reason. I love the Innocent types.", Eyrin explained as she stared at the genius.

What the shinigami said made L wonder if she meant to say that Reya did not have anything to hide. He titled his head to the side staring at both of them before shrugging it off. He would find out on his own. She could be tricking him. For all he knew behind his back the two of them had this all planned. He didn't want to contain Reya though, that wouldn't help much. He really doubted that Kira would show him a thing like the Death Note.

"I really, honestly don't know. I just need to keep studing up more on Kira's moves. You can help of course, I am sure with both of us together that it would work out well."

~~~~~Flash Back~~~~~
Reya looked at Eyrin while she walked down the side walk a piece of the death note paper in her hand. "You sure....I...don't know....", She said softly not really sure about what she would do with the paper or even write a name on it or anything. But Eyrin said to do it and she said it would be a good way to vent her recent frustrations on a fellow classmate that had been harrassing her for being a dectective. Saying she wouldn't ever succeed or anything like.
Eyrin smiled, "Reya, believe me ...the ending of the stress could be a welcome carpet compared to what you have gone through. Why not write her name on the paper. I mean you don't even have to hold the book in your hands." The Shiningami said smirking as her eyes lit up as she saw Reya tear out a piece of paper. "Now...just write her name on it. She will disappear from your life...no more worries.", Eyrin cooed on coaxing her human slave in senses. This girl was innocent and thus able to be taken advantage of. She loved every second of it.
Reya nodded and thought to herself ~yeah...if I...write her name on this paper...she will...disappear...that bitch....I am able to be a detective!~ her thoughts flowed through her head as she pulled out the paper when nobody was looking she wrote it down on the paper, then stuck it back in her pocket. Walked back off toward her home since she didn't have class today. Her eyes felt lighter her body felt lighter. "Eyrin...it did...", She said softly as Eyrin smiled and petted the girl's head. Eyrin's thoughts had gone right to her heart. Eyrin herself loved the fact that she could influence this girl so much.
~~~~~~~~~~~~Present~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Reya thought of something that made her jump and she looked up at Eyrin which had a firece smirk on her face. The Shinigami had made her do a evil thing and if L ever found out she would be convicted for murder, Reya's heart rate went up and she sighed softly putting her hand on her heart and then stopped getting her cool back. While she did she could feel Eyrin's eyes on her and she knew that the Shinigami had a agenda against humans. Though for some reason she wouldn't say a thing about her. Yet that is probably what she meant, if that got out Ryuzaki would have a reason to ...arrest her. The thought made her sick to the stomach. If she had to she would get out, since she already feels like she had crossed the line.

L did not let the expression go by so easily as he watched her closely. He wondered what was wrong with her and he kept a carefully eye on her. It could be the fact this thing called a shinigami had been around her so long, that could creep a person out. L surly wouldn't like it if he had one fallowing him around all the time and watching everything he did.

"Are you alright Reya-san?" He asked her. He was slightly worried, not only for her, but for himself and everyone around him. He had to be for their safety.

He had gotten hold of the Death Note again and looked at it even more. He had to be sure not to miss a thing more than once. He finally decided with the help of the task force that it needed to go down to the forensics lab to find any clues of what it was.
