"You don't understand the Americans will paint this area with bombs just to get out the germains that is why i am scared. " He said holding her close kissing her cheek softly.
 
Elise looked down a little when he said that. She looked at him and said "I know...we all know..." she said looking sad. "Your right....but..." she said looking away.
 
"You know we may be able to sneak this entire group across. Then your friends would be safe and you would not be abandoning them. You could say you where taking them to safety." He spoke softly looking into her eyes hoping to not break her heart.
 
Elise looked at him and said "You know how hard it is just to be outside for an hour with 5 people...theres no way we would not get caught" she said softly. She then looked down a little and said "and i would;t be surprised now if there were more patrols after you took out a high ranking German officer and blew up the bridge".
 
"I know but i am certain we could find a way. Steal a German truck and just avoid check points." He spoke softly looking at her his heart breaking before he had an idea. "We could steal a plane?"
 
Elise looked at him and said "Now your just being irrational...". She seemed to frown a little and said "You trying to make a miracle happen. The only way to get us all out would be in separate groups, but then no one knows the way....or chances of getting away safely are slim at best. The Germans are everywhere. We would have to trudge through the mountains on foot for days. its the only place where the Germans do not keep watch" she said.
 
"Then why not? It will be summer soon. We could wait till summer then sneak away threw the mountains. " He spoke softly looking into her eyes his hands slipping into hers. "Sooner if i can find a way to sneak us onto a plane that will get us to safety. "
 
Elise looked at him and said "With out the resistance...the french civilians would be defenseless. The only reason why wear not all being gassed or carted off on death marches in becouse we have provided a distraction...a growing threat...if we leave...they will kill us by the thousands" she told him.
 
Stephens heart broke he knew she would never consent to leaving the nation now. It killed him she wanted to stay and fight and risk death when he knew he could keep her safe. He remained silent and just laid his head on her chest relaxing and listening to her heart.
 
Elise closed her eyes and said "I'm sorry". Her hand moved to touch his hair. "All I've caused you is pain..." she said softly.
 
"You have caused me absolutely no pain. But the moment i start getting gray hair i am blaming it on you!" He smiled giving her a light squeeze kissing her chest over her heart before he got started drifting off.
 
She smiled at him and felt him move off her and begin to fall asleep. She closed her eyes and began to drift off herself.
 
The night passed for him uneventfully though his dreams where filled with sadness. The next morning he woke early and slipped his arms around her holding her close. He did not want to let her go for fear of losing her.
 
Elise slept through the night in a dreamless sleep. She woke up a little later then him that morning. She stirred in his arms before her eyes opened and she looked at him and said "How are you feeling this morning?"
 
"Physically? I am doing fine. " He spoke softly looking into her eyes most of the small cuts had already started to heal the rest where beginning to show.
 
Elise looked at him and said "but emotionally....your upset aren't you..." she said looking down. She looked at him and said "I know your worried...but I can't leave...If it makes you angry...I sorry...".
 
"I just wish i could convince you you don't have to risk your life with armies ready and willing to accept your help. " He spoke softly holding her close kissing her heart lightly.
 
Elise looked at him and said "well it looks like we are both as stubborn as each other..." she said speaking about when he tried to stop him from blowing the bridge.
 
"I suppose just you know its only a matter of time before someone in our group is killed. " He took a deep breath looking into her eyes kissing her softly.
 
"we know...we all know... We've known from the beginin" she said softly after he pulled away from the kiss. She then sat up and said "Annabelle will want to look at you back again today" she said getting out of bed.
 
He nodded and moved to get out of bed slowly groaning as he slipped on his shirt and put on some pants. " Lets go get some breakfast hun. " He said softly moving to the door to wait for her.
 
Elise got dressed and walked through the door way and down to breakfast with him. She sat down and began to eat. "Annabelle looked at Stephan and said "I want to take a look at you back after we eat".
 
"Only if i get to take a look at your front? " He chuckled covering his head knowing he was going to get hit by at least one of them. He could not help himself telling dirty jokes some days.
 
Elise frowned a little and punched him in the side, annabelle punching his over side as they turned their back to him smugly.
 
"Well it was just a request i guess i can pass that now. " He laughed softly kissing her cheek wrapping his arms around her. "Elise i am going to have to let your friend torture me for a few minuets. "
