Moved [RoleplayMaster and Sigr]

By the time Rachel came home, she would find Curtis curled up in Veronica's side, enjoying the warmth the larger body provided. He looked somewhat sleepy, but still enjoying himself as he watched the movie. "It's a pleasure to meet you, ma'am." he smiled, shaking her hand as he sat up straight. "Thanks for helping my family move yesterday, we all appreciate it." Curtis said, before getting comfortable in Veronica's side once again.

The comment Rachel made about Veronica talking about him made him blush, happy to hear that he was worth talking about when he wasn't around. The quiet boy was very silent as mother and daughter conversed, amused at the interplay between them. They had an amazing relationship, and seemed much closer than he was with his parents, if he was honest.

Once more, the older woman made him blush at the mention of 'funny noises', and he promised that there wouldn't be funny business in the bedroom. Thankfully, he was spared much more embarrassment, by the three all retreating to their bedrooms.

"You sleep with a teddy bear?" He asked with a teasing grin, not really meaning to tease too much. It was awfully cute. Slowly and shyly stripping, Curtis ended up in some boxer shorts before slipping into the bed. "So um.. how do we do this?" he asked.

"Not today" was all Veronica answered to the teddy bear question, blushing a little bit, not having anticipated that Curtis would see that side of her. "I tend to sleep on this side" Veronica said, lying herself on a side. "I don't know about you, but I'd like to try having you between my arms like... this" she pulled Curtis in, close to her, face to face. One of her arms was under the pillow, the other above his midsection. "It's super weird" she said, seemingly amused. "But good" added, shuffling around slightly, looking for the best spot. "Don't mind moving around, I sleep like a log" she said, fidgeting a bit. "It's the first time I sleep with someone else, it's nice" she kissed Curtis briefly. Veronica just lied there, looking at him in the eyes, happy. Slowly her eyes started to close, and her breath grew more and more relaxed until she drifted off into sleep.

The next few days passed awfully quick, with Veronica showing Curtis the city and fooling with each other. With his parents in his house they were back to sleeping alone, dearly missing something that they hadn't just a few days ago. Sooner than later the dreaded first day of school had come, and Veronica waited for Curtis to get out of his house to go together. She was confident, but couldn't help but feel nervous. Knowing Sharon, the whole volley team would already know that she had a boyfriend, but she wasn't worried about them, but everyone else.

"Good morning, are you ready" Veronica greeted Curtis with a kiss. "We have to make a couple stops. Normally we would be on our own, but Sharon's car is busted and she can't pick Naida up" she explained. Curtis had already met Sharon, but about Naida all he could remember was that she was the team captain and setter, the one to leave Sharon on her own that day on the beach.

"Good morning couple, done anything naughty yet?" arriving at another house not specially far, Sharon got in the car being Sharon, and even if she didn't really expect an answer she had to tease them. A bunch of avenues later, they stopped on other house of the same complex. It seemed that they were all neighbors of sorts, but it didn't mean much when the neighborhood was so huge and extended for miles and miles.

Out of the house was waiting a cute woman, more conservatively dressed than Veronica and Sharon, since she was wearing a light sweater and some overalls, while the wardrobes of the other two seemed to be plagued by shorts and tops of various kinds. Sure, it was still very warm, so things would change with seasons. "Good morning, you must be Curtis, a pleasure" Naida went to his window to greet him and Curtis could see that she was also pretty tall, but not anywhere close to Veronica's height.

She sat in the back with Sharon, keeping some distance that soon Sharon shortened. Veronica started to drive, and soon Curtis could see movement in the back on the rear mirror. Sharon was kissing Naida deeply, while she tried to push the smaller woman away. Hearing the muffled sounds, Veronica admonished them.

"Not in my car Sharon, keep your paws away from her for a minute" she said in a tone that showed no surprise.

Naida sighed relieved, but Sharon was irked. "Come on! She has been grounded most of the month! I swear to god that I'm going to explode..." she sounded frustrated, but her voice lowered as she spoke. "Sorry, no blasphemies, I didn't mean it" she said to Naida, a tone so meek that it didn't seem possible on her.

"My car, my rules" Veronica just stated. She didn't really mind it, but she knew that Naida liked to keep those moments intimate, not public.

"Thank you" Naida just said, limiting herself to hold hands with Sharon.

Soon enough, the four of them reached the West Side High School, a place both awaited and dreaded.

Curtis was somewhat nervous about his first day of school. New building, new teachers, and new potential friends or bullies. His nerves were a little relaxed, knowing that he still had Veronica to fall back on, as well as her friends. But he needed to make his own friends too. Due to his quiet nature though, that was easier said than done.

It was amusing that on his first day, Veronica would be carpooling three people, including himself. Sharon was her usual loud, nosy (in a good way) self, and soon, he was meeting Naida. Noticing she was approaching his window, he wound it all the way down and offered a hand to shake. "Naida, pleasure to meet you. I've heard a bit about you already from Veronica." Curtis said, which was technically true. He knew of her name and the position as her captain, and that was all.

After a few minutes had progressed, a little bit of fumbling could be heard. Gazing back, Curtis quickly kept his eyes forward on the road, blushing heavily after what he had seen. He wanted to apologise for intruding, but his shyness rendered him speechless.

At long last, they were at the school. Grabbing his bag, Curtis stood outside of the car and shut the door behind him. "So... where do I go?" He sounded almost scared, but that was his nerves speaking. It would be the first time somewhere without Veronica, or his parents, and he hated change. He hated it when he came here, but Veronica was there to ease his pain. Veronica would not be there to ease this transition this time.

"I will catch up with you, girls" Veronica said goodbye to Sharon and Naida, wanting to have a little time to themselves. "Lets see, the library is there, the gym where we train behind that building and all the classes are all in that one, floors one to three" she hand waved a general explanation. Veronica seemed unsure of something, showing a little hesitation.

"Do you want me to go with you up to the class or..." she doubted, not knowing how to deal with it, as first impressions could last. "I don't know if you want your future classmates to see you with me or not. I know it's no secret, but I don't want to make that choice for you" she said.

"Thanks." He smiled, nodding and about to move, before she brought up her going with him. "I.. Probably not. I mean, I don't need my classmates to be jealous that I have the hottest girl in the school as my girlfriend." He winked. "I'll catch up with you at lunch time or something, I guess?" he shrugged, before gesturing for her to bend over so he could kiss her cheek. "I'll see you later, Veronica." He smiled, in the back of his mind thinking that he needed a nickname for her that was shorter.

Walking off, Curtis soon had his first class, meeting his classmates. He hoped that they would give him a warm reception, but most simply ignored him, even if he tried making conversation. Sighing, he went to work in silence, hoping Veronica's first day back was better than his. At first, he had English, but after that was PE. For a special first class, Curtis and his classmates were to sit in the stands while Veronica's team practised, making notes on their exercises, their methods, and so on. It felt like no time at all until the teacher told them to head to their lockers, as it was almost lunch time.

"That tall slut... I wonder how well she'd take a dick?" One of the students voiced when the teacher was walking away.

The boy next to him, clearly a close friend, snorted. "Yeah. She's probably sucked off everyone in her year level at least. I wonder if there's any staff member in this school she hasn't fucked." By this stage, Curtis was getting angry, as these thoughts had been playing in the back of his mind. Well, not the slut part, but had she been with other men before him?

The first boy burst out laughing. "I could probably give her a fiver and she'd bend over in the cafeteri-" he began to say, before receiving a strong right fist from Curtis. Instantly, the first guy's friend retaliated, punching Curtis back right in the nose. Feeling a break, the boy felt slightly woozy as the two forced him into the men's bathroom. Punches and kicks were sent his way, while he curled up in a corner, unable to retaliate.

--

Curtis was missing for lunch, unable to meet Veronica as he promised, as well as his first math lesson at this new school. In fact, at the end of the day, Veronica, Naida, and Sharon had to wait fifteen minutes for Curtis to appear, as Veronica refused to leave without him. When he finally showed up, it was clear why he had been gone. Nose clearly broken, there was dried up blood all over the lower part of his face. His back was over his left shoulder, and if Veronica looked closely, the pinky of his right hand was dislocated. "Let's go home." he mumbled as he approached the car.

Veronica tried not to worry when Curtis didn't appear for lunch, thinking that he ended up busy with his new schedule and classmates. She didn't succeed much, but at least she wanted to think that she was making friends. How wrong she was.

"Sharon, for the last time, I'm not going without him, so if you are in a hurry you better drag your butt to the bus st-" Veronica was friendly arguing with Sharon while Naida sighed, waiting for Curtis to appear, but she stopped right in her tracks at the sight of him.

"What the fuck?" Veronica rushed to his side, crouching to get a good view. "I'm going to fucking murder-" she stopped, feeling Naida's hand on her shoulder. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. "What happened?" she asked, as calm as she could.

Curtis was looking at the ground, almost as if he was thinking he did something wrong. He kept walking closer to her until his body was lightly against hers, but he made no effort to hug her. Mostly because he didn't want to hurt the finger, but also because he sort of didn't feel like he deserved a hug.

"We were at that PE class, watching your practice and scrimmage. Then we were leaving and they were calling you a... a... slut" he said the word as softly as possible, not wanting to repeat it. "They kept talking and talking, and I couldn't just keep listening. So I punched the main one, and his friend got me." Curtis took a weak breath, feeling a little tired. "They pulled me into the bathroom and attacked me. That's the last I remember, and then I woke up about five minutes ago." He explained.

"I'm gonna kill those fuckers" Veronica was seething, never been so angry. She didn't care about the insult, or that Curtis threw the first punch, she just wanted blood.

"Let me help" Sharon said behind her, without even a hint of her usual jolly self. She meant business.

"Girls. No" Naida said, equally as serious as them both. "Start that kind of shit and not only will the school expel you, but I won't be able to keep you on the team" she said, trying to reason. "We can talk to the principal and-" she tried to say.

"Fuck the principal. They gonna pay" Sharon said.

"I... shit. Shit" Veronica was frustrated, she wanted payback so bad that she was clenching her fists. "No Sharon, she's right even if I hate it" she hissed through her teeth. "I wish there was a way" she lamented. "Curtis, are you sure you want to go home? That's it?" she asked him.

"Don't" he mumbled softly as Veronica threatened the people who attacked him, but his voice was so quiet he doubted anyone heard him. Thankfully, Naida was there to calm the others down, and he gave her a thankful look, even if he wasn't in the best of moods at the moment.

At Veronica's question, he spoke up a little louder than before "You don't need to ruin your school lives, being expelled for fighting on my behalf. I just want to put this behind me." He explained. "And.. probably need to go to hospital." Curtis added. While one of the girls may have known how to fix a dislocated pinky, he trusted a doctor more. Not to mention the broken nose. Oh god... what are his parents going to think?

"Could you hold me? I feel really weak." He asked Veronica quietly. A moment later, he basically collapsed unconscious, falling towards his girlfriend.

"Fine..." Veronica wasn't convinced, but she wasn't going to do anything irrational. "You are right, lets get you checked" she was mortified, thinking more about revenge than his well being. "Sure, lean on-Curtis!" Veronica was startled when he collapsed in her arms. For a moment, she just froze there, one knee on the ground, holding his body in her arms. She took one free hand and threw her keys to Sharon, then she took Curtis in her arms and climbed on the backseats, leaving Sharon and Naida the front ones.

She had never felt more vulnerable, and she wasn't even the one in pain. Curtis looked so frail in her arms, so small, and there was nothing she could do. Veronica lowered her head while Sharon took them to the closest hospital, but both her and Naida heard her sob in the back, quietly. A first for them, even if she had suffered some severe injuries in her first year.

He was not out for too long, which would hopefully improve Veronica's mood a little bit. About halfway to the hospital, she would hear him groan and mumble "Might have a concussion or something too." A moment later, his eyes opened a little, finding Veronica's tear stained face. "Don't cry. You're too beautiful to cry over me." He commented with a weak smile, slowly raising his good hand to her cheek and wiping away some of her tears. "C'mon, think about something else. Think about that day at the beach. The fun we had there. Or the previous day at the pool." Curtis suggested, not enjoying seeing his girlfriend so upset. He did not have any experience for crying girls, and it made it even tougher that he was injured and light-headed while talking to her.

Seeing Curtis worry about her tears more than his own injuries made her cry even more, he was so gentle... Veronica tried to do her best to calm herself, and soon she managed to steel herself.

"We are almost there" was all Sharon had to say, while Naida kept silent.

Arriving at the hospital, a pretty nice one not far from home, Veronica just barged in the emergency room with Curtis on her arms. It wasn't as dramatic as one would thought, but he meant the world to her, and having Curtis beat up defending her honor...

It was stupid. That what it was. Of course, without Naida stopping them both her and Sharon would have done something even more stupid. He didn't need to do that, it wasn't important what others called her... right? Well, she did worry for what people talked about him, so it was only fair to work in both directions. Putting herself in her shoes, she would probably had done the same.

"He has been beaten, please help..." Veronica begged the closest doctor. Soon enough she would have to let Curtis go with them. Sharon and Naida were just behind Veronica, supporting her.

"It'll be fine" Naida said, but thinking about the talk she was going to face with Curtis' parents and probably even the police... she wasn't so sure.

Over the next three hours, the four of them would have to deal with the police, the doctors, and two angry parents. The police needed to know what had happened, asking for stories from the four of them. Of course, the girls were not present in the attack, so could only really recount Curtis' story and then explain the car ride to the hospital. The doctors prevented anyone except the police from seeing Curtis during this time too, wanting him calmed and alone while he began his recovery.

Unfortunately, Curtis' parents were not happy, or more specifically, his mother. As the two parents entered the hospital emergency area, Helen moved to slap Veronica. "How dare you." She cried. But before she could commit the act, she fell to her knees and began to sob. "I'm sorry." Her husband apologised. "She's not used to Curtis being in this situation. And with the stress of the move and everything, this doesn't exactly help. The doctors have already told us that there is nothing life threatening going on, so I'll take my wife back home and we'll see him tomorrow. Do you mind staying with him? I don't want him to be alone tonight." Chris said, sighing as he picked up his wife.

Before they left, Chris paused and looked at Veronica. He was about Curtis' height, and his mother was a bit shorter still. "Thank you for being so good to our son. I can tell he cares a lot for you, even despite how short you've known each other. He doesn't just defend anyone like that." He commented with a small smile, before escorting his wife out of the building.

--

Finally, one of the doctors came out to speak with Veronica. "Mr Smith is doing well, you'll be able to see him shortly. The extent of his injuries included one broken nose, one dislocated finger, one minor dislocated finger, one concussion, three broken ribs, one black eye, and signs of strangulation and suffocation. He's been told of these injuries and how to recover the best from them. I'll tell you as well though, just to be safe. The dislocated fingers and black eye have been mostly fixed, although using the fingers less and getting plenty of sleep will help a lot. The broken nose and ribs have been bandaged up. If you wish to hug him, do so carefully." He seemed to realise that the boy and girl were close, and she'd likely hug him to death if she could. "As for the strangulation, he has been given ointments for the markings on his neck and eye, to clear that up. Plenty of water should help too. Teenage boys often don't take care of themselves as well as they could, so please try and make sure he follows those bits of treatment." The doctor said. "You may go in now." He smiled, knowing the girlfriend must be impatient now.

As she entered his room, he did look a little frail, weak, and tired, but still had a smile on his face. "Hey." He said, tapping on the bed as if to ask if she could join him. "Lay down with me. Cuddle up a bit." He said, wanting her close to him. "How.. How do you think of the name Ronnie? Like, as a nickname?" He asked. It clearly wasn't the time for such a question, but he did that on purpose, hoping to distract her from his obvious injuries. At this time, his forehead, pinky and index finger on his right hand were all visibly bandaged, and his ribs were also done up. He also had a plastic mask along his face which was used to help with his broken nose. If it weren't for the serious situation, it'd be quite amusing, as he looked like an injured superhero.

When it looked like Helen was going to slap her, Veronica just stood there without even a blink, ready to let the woman vent if she needed it. When she stopped and fell into sobs, Veronica took a moment to react, to try and help her, but her husband intervened. "It's fine... I mean..." Veronica mumbled when Chris talked, but she didn't know what to say. "Yes, of course I'll be here" was the clearest answer she had, since she didn't even thought of going home. Chris talked how Curtis cared for her, since she defended her like that, an statement that made Veronica's heart sink.

...

After talking with her mother and telling her what happened, that she wouldn't be going home that night, Veronica talked to a doctor. Hearing the complete list of injuries was horrible, painful in itself, and the doctor seemed to notice her suffering, so moved on to talk about what she could do. Before going in to see him, Veronica joined with Sharon that was still there alone. Naida had gone home a while ago, even if she wanted to be there they had sent her back, since the last thing she needed was to arrive home late and get even more drama rolling around.

"Three broken ribs, concussion, signs of strangulation..." Veronica repeated like a zombie, making Sharon open her eyes wide. "I can't... I..." her hands were shaking, so she crossed her arms. "I can't even think of it, there is no way I let this pass... and yet, I can't do anything to them" she said.

"We'll find a way, they'll had what they deserve" Sharon said, but stopped, seeing Veronica shake her head.

"It's not that, it's not about the school or the team. What they have done to him..." she said. "I'm afraid that if I get my hands on them I could do something terrible" Veronica admitted.

Sharon didn't know what to say, just hugged her friend and stood there as long as Veronica needed.

"Take my car home" Veronica gave the keys to Sharon. "I'm staying here with him. If I need anything I'll call" she said. Sharon was about to say that she could stay as well, but seeing her friend's face, she gave her space.

With Sharon gone, the hospital felt awfully empty at night, with Veronica alone in the midst of it. Not wanting to spend more time away from him, she went into his room, trying and probably failing at hiding her surprise, her sadness, her anger. At least she managed to not cry.

Taking a chair to be beside him, Veronica just sat there, not knowing what to do, how to act. Curtis suggested a nickname for her, trying to talk of anything else.

"Why aren't you angry? Or sad? Or something?" Veronica blurted. "I'm the older one. I'm strong. I can deal with you being sad, or being angry... but this? You are still trying to protect me..." she gasped, her eyes watery. "Fuck. I'm not crying again" Veronica said, wiping her eyes, already red. "I don't care if they insult me, I can deal with their hate, their envy. I can be with you if you are sad or angry..." her voice trembled.

"But I can't... this... there is nothing I can do against this... and seeing you protecting me from it kills me" she breathed and continued. "You are just like your father, saying how much you must like me to defend me. Your mother I can understand" said. "She yelled at me. She blamed me. Hell, she almost slapped me. And I'd have welcome all of that. That weight I can carry, this... I don't know how" Veronica confessed.

Watching Veronica enter his room, his heart broke at how terrible she looked. Sure, he probably looked worse, but all he cared about was her. She seemed so lost with how indifferent he was trying to be, and all Curtis wanted to do was hold her. "Remember how I was worried you were going to be a bully to me when we first met? Suspicion like that doesn't come out of no where. I've been bullied for most of my life at school, so I'm beginning to become used to it. It isn't the first time my nose has been broken, although some of these other injuries are a first.." He added an after comment, before realising that'd probably make Veronica feel worse.

"Anyway, the times that this happened back then and now are completely different scenarios. Back in Australia, they attacked me for being me. No other reason. I never provoked them, half the time I would just lay there and take it, as it was easier. But today was different. I had the opportunity to protect someone that I lo.. deeply care about, and I didn't even second guess my actions."

"Trust me, I am angry, and I am sad. Probably not for the reasons you want me to be angry and sad, but I am feeling those feelings inside." He explained. "Can.. Can you come closer. I want to be held, or to hold you at least." He requested. She'd need to be gentle thanks to his ribs, but it wouldn't be too difficult.

Veronica listened, closing in to caress his face where the mask allowed for it, away from his black eye. Her hand moved then through his hair, the other carefully resting on his chest, on top of his heart. "I can accept that, your feelings are your own, and I guess that we can't feel the same about what happened..." she sighed. "What's important is what's in here..." her hand softly tapped his chest, then traveled to her own, then back at his again. "Our hearts are honest, I told you I liked that of you" Veronica continued, taking pause.

"But you have to realize who I am. What I can do, what I could do if something happened to you" she shared. "It feels like ages ago, but I wasn't a good kid before and bouncing through a couple of institutions before being taken by Rachel didn't improve it. I was... with my size and that... years ago... I was like those bullies" Veronica confessed, tear eyed. "So you have to let me share the burden of the insults, the abuse, the ignorance. Shouldering them on your own, gallant or not, would only bring me where I don't want to be" she had revealed her worst side to him.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you before. That isn't who I am anymore, but things like this feel horrible, what happened to you made me want to be that bully again" Veronica was shaky, afraid of what Curtis could think of her, drying her eyes. "That's why I... please, let me take the insults in. Is the least I can do" she finished, still caressing him with care, keeping her touch as gentle as possible, not wanting to let go of him.

Listening to Veronica speak, he was surprised and a little hurt to find that she had once been a bully. But while he began to have doubts, he was soon reminded that she was no longer a bully. She was a very nice woman that he was beginning to fall for, and he didn't need to judge her on her past misdeeds.

"I..." He paused, trying to think of the best way to convey his thoughts. "Everyone has a bad past. Whether it's doing something stupid or being something bad." Curtis said softly. "I could easily judge you on what you were. But I only know you the way I do now. As a kind-hearted woman that cares about me more than I care about myself."

"I don't do well with ignoring insults, especially when aimed at those I care about. But if you want, I'll try my best to stay calm in the future, even if I don't like it." He sighed. "Can you come on the bed? The sheets are a little thin and your body heat would help me a lot." He smiled a little, hoping that she didn't feel too terrible about her past.

"I... thank you" Veronica just muttered. "Please do... I now know how deep do those things of the past cut. I can vent with sports, being with you... but I can't see you getting hurt again. I'd gladly took every blow you received. At least I've done things to deserve them" she chastised herself.

Getting up from the chair she cuddled next to him in the small hospital bed, carefully positioning herself to avoid disturbing him. "I like Ronnie" she just said, hiding her face on his shoulder, and during the time they were together Curtis could hear an occasional sob. What happened and the revelations that it caused would take some nights to fade, and wouldn't probably vanish until Curtis was healed.

Slowly wrapping an arm around her, Curtis scratched her hair gently, hating the sounds of her sobbing. The only comfort was that he here with her, so she knew she wasn't alone. Soon, he fell asleep, sore but happy that Veronica and him were still as close as ever.

--

It was three weeks later that Curtis was finally cleared to leave the hospital. He no longer wore most the bandages, only a few thick wraps around his ribcage, hidden by his clothes. His parents were, once again, too busy to come and get him, which left that responsibility to Veronica. Currently she was wheeling him out of the building, a rule that is a part of the hospital; you have to be in a wheelchair when you leave, whether you need it or not.

Once out of the doors, Curtis stood and took Veronica's hand, letting her lead him to her car. "So good to be out of there." He sighed, relieved. "So, how's volleyball going for you?" He hadn't seen Sharon or Naida since the incident, as they had been rather busy. He'd likely see them at school, if not before.

Three weeks later, Veronica and Curtis had left a lot of the pain behind. It was still there, looming over them, but abandoning the dreary hospital was a blessing. In the way to the car, it almost seemed like it was a bad dream, like nothing happened. Luckily none of the injuries, nose included, were going to leave any permanent damage so even if it wasn't a hundred percent fine, it will be soon.

"Mostly fine, I missed you like crazy, and had trouble focusing at first" Veronica admitted, having earned some of Sharon's puns every time she missed. Of course, all that Sharon wanted was to distract her. "But as I got back into it, turned out fine, used it to unwind" added. September was gone with the hospital visit, and even if it was a still pleasant October in those parts, Veronica had abandoned her shorter clothes for a while. She dressed in a gray t-shirt and a blue hoodie, with some shiny spandex shorts that reached to her knees.

Once into the relative privacy of the car, Veronica leaned over, kissing Curtis on the lips, taking a small nibble of his lower one. "I missed you" she said. Veronica has been on the room more than she really had to, but it just wasn't the same.

Smiling at the mention of her missing him, he was happy that she didn't get too distracted by his absence. She looked very attractive despite wearing what most would consider 'lazy clothes'. It did not take long until she was kissing his lips, nibbling on the bottom one while they got in the car. "I missed you too. You look great, by the way." he whispered back, feeling the need to whisper due to the closeness of their faces. Initiating the next kiss, he smiled as he tasted her lips. "Do you have a flavoured lipstick on? Or is that just the taste of your lips? Been ages since we kissed last, so I can't tell." He laughed.

"So, it's a Saturday, so we don't have school. What do you want to do?" Curtis asked. He now had freedom that he did not have the last three weeks, so the boy was keen to spread his legs a little bit.

"It's just me, you handsome devil" she smiled at the question of her taste. Veronica wasn't one for such girly affectation, but he was still a cutie for asking such a thing. "For a moment I thought of going to grab dinner and watch some movie" Veronica shrugged, she was so eager to just get Curtis out of there that she didn't really think of anything. "But maybe you could want to just relax at home" she added, focused on the driving, fidgety about something.

The mention of a dinner and a movie interested him greatly. "Would you want to do that? Dinner and a movie, I mean." He asked. "I think it would be great to have a real date." Curtis said, happy at the idea. Yawning slightly, the boy still felt a little tired from being stuck in a bed all this time. Stretching a little, at least as well as he could in the small area of the car, he seemed to notice her slightly fidgety behaviour. "Everything alright?" Curtis asked, looking at her face and seemed a little concerned.

"That means heading home for a moment then, I'm not going to our first real date like I was out for a jog, and I guess that you'd want to change into something fresh" Veronica said, since Curtis was game for the date night. Both she and his parents had brought him clothes, but being stuck in bed with them, he would probably want to wear anything else but that. "Not anything super fancy, but I want to dress up a little bit. I never do that" she added with a nervous girly giggle, something odd on her.

"Oh no... it's nothing, just... happy to get you back" Veronica answered with a poor lie, even if she honestly looked happier than she had been in weeks. She focused on the driving and the hospital wasn't far from their homes, so they would be soon there to get ready for a real date.

Giving Veronica a strange look, he didn't feel that everything was alright with her. But, he had to be supportive, and as her boyfriend, that meant believing her. "If you're sure..." He said, in a tone that suggested that he did not believe her claim to being alright. Placing his hand on her knees, he gave it a slight squeeze, letting her know he was there for her.

"I'll try and find something to wear that looks good but isn't 'super fancy'. But I am sure whatever I wear, you'll look twice as good." he grinned, hoping to ease the tension created by the apparently nervous girl.
