Star Trek: Protector ( Darkkitten9389 & CrimsonMaster )

With the war over, the Protector no longer always traveled at maximum warp. Their return trip to Earth took more time, and was less taxing on the engines. This pleased Commander Quinn who was looking forward to overhauling the ship's systems. He was hoping to replace the warp nacelles, which took a beating during the final battle of the war. Peace time life was now the order of the day. It had been a long & rough war, and everyone was glad the fighting was over. Even the Klingons relished the coming of peace. Their fleets had been battered by Gowron during the last few weeks of the war. His waste of troops and ships in a play to smear General Martok, was seen as dishonorable by many Klingons. Martok had gained support from most of the houses. Thanks to Klang who proclaimed Martok as the rightful leader of the empire. However, the House of Gordek was already plotting to overthrow Martok. This would mean civil war in the future for the empire.

After several weeks of travel. The Protector finally reached the Sol System. They were home. Well those who were from Earth were home. The Protector came into the system near Saturn. They soon passed Jupiter and Jupiter Station. It didn't take much more time to reach Mars. As the ship approached the red planet. Captain West had Lieutenant M'Ress contact approach control for the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards. This is where the Protector was built. Approach control gave the Protector permission to dock at space dock 15 on the far side of the planet. Captain West ordered the course adjusted, and soon the space dock came into view. The ship slowly moved into the dock, then stopped. Kyle rose from his chair. He turned towards Lenara, telling her they had leave time coming. Every member of the crew was getting leave, but not everyone would have leave at the same time. Part of the engineering crew would be staying on board during the repair work being done on the ship. With a full command staff now. Both Kyle & Lenara were free to take their leave time together. He wanted to take Lenara to New Orleans where Ben Sisko's father owned a restaurant which was a favorite hangout for Kyle during his days at the academy. Kyle often spoke of how great the food was there and how friendly Joseph Sisko was. The bridge systems were shutdown as everyone would be getting ready for their shore leave. Everyone then left the bridge, returning to their quarters. Kyle had a shuttle standing by in the shuttlebay. He & Lenara would be dinning on Earth this evening.
 
Everyone on the Protector was more relaxed now then they had been in quite some time. With wartime over, the return to Earth would take longer. It had been a long and rough war on everyone involved. Now everyone could begin to relax and recover from the war. Recovery would be hard for some and it would take time. It took the Protector a number of weeks to finally reach the Sol System and they were soon passing by Jupiter and Jupiter Station. Contact was made with Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards for permission to dock on the far side of the planet. Finally it moved into the dock and stopped. As they did, Lenara was on the bridge with Kyle and after they stopped, he rose from his chair and turned towards her, telling her that they had leave time coming.

Lenara knew this. Everyone on the ship would be taking leave, but not all at the same time. As everyone got ready for their shore leave, the bridge systems began to shut down and they left the bridge. Lenara knew that Kyle had spoken of taking her to New Orleans a number of times to visit a restaurant that was owned and run by Ben Sisko's father, Joseph. The first time that she and Kyle had dinner together, he had replicated one of the meals that was made in the restaurant and he said that it was better when actually cooked instead of replicated. Now Kyle was going to be taking her to dine that evening on Earth, something that she was looking forward to doing. Lenara returned to her quarters where she quickly changed and got ready to go with Kyle. Once she was ready, Lenara left her quarters to meet up with Kyle. She was looking forward to trying Joseph Sisko's cooking and enjoying a relaxing evening with Kyle.
 
The meal Kyle made for Lenara had been Pasta Boudin. It was a recipe he programed into his replicator. Kyle got the recipe from Joseph Sisko, a man known for being protective of his recipes. Joseph had become fond of Kyle West during all the visits while he was at the academy. Kyle was also a very good friend of Joseph's son Ben. These reasons were why Joseph gave Kyle one of his special recipes. Since that first meal Kyle & Lenara shared. He'd talked of how great Joseph's cooking was. Lenara had never visited New Orleans while she was on Earth. In fact, her time at Starfleet academy was her first visit to Earth. Lenara had been born on the Beta VI Colony, but that wasn't her home. After her birth, Lenara & her mother bounced around from planet to planet, trying to find a place to call home. They ended up on the Nehru Colony where Lenara's mother, Marla finally passed away. Lenara & her mother had lived like gypsies most of their lives. After her father disappeared and was presumed dead. It wasn't until Lenara joined the Protector, that she'd found a place to call home. She'd been close to calling the Farragut home, but that ship was destroyed during the last war with the Klingons. Lenara had to wait a bit longer before she found a true home.

Members of the Protector crew were leaving the ship after packing their bags. Several groups book passage to worlds like Risa. Others were panning on seeing their families during this downtime. Only a skeleton crew was staying on board the Protector. Mostly engineers who were helping on the repair & refit working being done on the ship. Mr. Vox, Lieutenant T'Pren, Lieutenant Getal and Niesha were also remaining on the ship. Kyle would be staying on Earth. He was taking an apartment not far from Starfleet Headquarters. It was a building where many Starfleet Officers stayed while their ships were in space dock for repairs. Lenara's plans were unknown at the time Kyle was packing his bag. She was free to stay where ever she wanted, though she couldn't stay in her quarters on the Protector. Not with the ship getting a new bridge. This was part of it's refit. Lenara could use other quarters if she wanted, or she could take an apartment on Earth. There were also places to stay on Mars and on Earth's moon.

Once Kyle got his bag packed, he met with Lenara outside their quarters. They were soon off for the shuttlebay. Kyle had one of the Protector's Type 9 Shuttlecraft standing by for launch. He & Lenara entered the shuttlebay and climbed aboard their waiting ship. The type 9 was one of the smaller shuttles. It had two seats, both in the front. Kyle took one seat while Lenara took the other. As Lenara fired up the engines, Kyle was setting course for Earth. The ship soon launched from the Protector. They swung around Mars and was soon heading for Earth. As they grew closer to the blue world. Kyle contacted approach control and got permission to land in San Fransisco at Starfleet Headquarters. Kyle needed to check in, as would Lenara if she were staying there. Once Kyle got his place, he would take Lenara to New Orleans.
 
In her quarters, Lenara packed her bag. Like Kyle, she was planning on staying on earth in an apartment. While she loved the Protector and considered it home, even she needed some time away once in a while. She decided it would be nice to stay on Earth for a bit while the Protector underwent its repairs and refit. So she got her bag packed fairly quickly and with one last glance around her quarters to make sure she didn't forget anything, she stepped out of her quarters where she was going to meet Kyle. Together they then started for the shuttlebay. They walked in comfortable silence down to the shuttlebay where he had one of the Type 9 Shuttlecrafts standing by for launch and they were soon on their way. Lenara fired up the engines while Kyle set a course for Earth and they lauched shortly afterwards.

As they traveled around Mars and head for Earth, Lenara told Kyle that she was planning on getting a place on Earth during the time that the Protector was docked. She told him that she might visit a couple people that she knew on Earth that she'd not seen in some time. In all honesty, her plans were up in the air at the moment. All she really knew was that she was going to take this time to just relax and enjoy some down time. As they got closer to Earth, they got permission to land in San Francisco where they would land at Starfleet HQ. Even though it didn't look it on the outside, Lenara was looking forward to this downtime and to visiting New Orleans with Kyle.

It had been quite some time that she'd gotten the chance to completely relax without the worry of a possible attack. There was so much that she could do during her down time and one thing that she was thinking of doing was some actual cooking that didn't have anything to do with a replicator. She had loved cooking while growing up. It was something that she did with her mother, so she might take it up a bit while on Earth and invite a couple people over. After they landed, Lenara and Kyle needed to check in and get their places since they were both staying there. She had her bag thrown over her shoulder and she was walking at Kyles side, a small smile upon her face as they talked with each other.
 
Kyle & Lenara checked in at headquarters. They were given apartments in the same building, on the same floor, right next to each other. Since Lenara had decided to stay on Earth during the repair & refit of the Protector. They gave her an apartment close to Kyle's. It was common practice for officers of the same ship to be housed together. The rest of the officers from the Protector where doing their own thing. Quinn was staying on the ship. Doctor Boyd was one of those traveling to Risa. Robin Devlin was staying with her family. After checking in and getting their apartments. Kyle & Lenara left HQ for their apartment building. There were several large apartment buildings around Starfleet Headquarters. These buildings were used to house Starfleet personnel while on Earth. As Kyle & Lenara walked along. They spoke of plans and possible plans. Lenara had spoken of her love of cooking. She talked of possibly making dinner some evening. Kyle then brought up how he asked Captain Saavik to dinner. Kyle admitted to not being the best cook in Starfleet. He could make a few dishes without the replicator. But his skills at making anything real were lacking. He joked about being a better captain then a cook.

Kyle then asked if Lenara would be interested in joining him & Saavik for dinner? He said she could cook and he was sure Saavik would enjoy having Lenara there. Kyle admitted that he thought Saavik was quite hot. She lived her life as a pure Vulcan, even though Saavik was half Romulan. Kyle said he would love to see Lenara work her magic on Saavik. Breaking through that cold Vulcan exterior. He said if anyone could melt the wall Saavik surrounded herself with. That person would be Lenara. The sexy first officer had already taken on several Vulcan lovers. She discovered how to seduce members of that race. Thanks to Lieutenant T'Pren who shared the secret with Lenara. The key was properly playing with those pointed ears. Knowing how to seduce what seemed to be a dead fish to others. Kyle & Lenara soon reached their apartments. All the rooms looked the same. Kyle quickly stashed his bag in the bedroom. He'd worry about unpacking later. Right now. Kyle wanted to get some really good food. He waited for Lenara out in the hall. Once she joined him, they went back down to the first floor. They picked up a shuttle heading for New Orleans. The trip wouldn't take them long. About 30 minutes by planetary shuttlecraft.

The shuttle landed in New Orleans after a wonder flight. Kyle & Lenara exited the craft and started walking along the streets. Despite this being the 24th century. New Orleans hadn't lost any of its old world charm. They were soon approaching Sisko's Creole Kitchen. Kyle smiled while pointing at the neon sign out front. They walked inside the building and were greeted by a wonderful smell. It wasn't long until they were also greeted by Joseph Sisko. " My God!..........Kyle West! " Joseph spoke as he left the kitchen, quickly moving acrossed the room and giving Kyle a hug. " My boy it's damn good to see you again! " Joseph was truly happy to see the one time young cadet again. Kyle then introduced Lenara to Joe. The older man also welcomed Lenara with a hug. He spoke of her being one of the prettiest first officer he'd ever met. Joe said the other was Colonel Kira. Someone Lenara knew well and fully agreed with her being very pretty. Joe then took Kyle & Lenara over to a table. He didn't give them a menu. Joe spoke of making them his famous shrimp gumbo. He then had a bottle of wine brought to their table as he went into the kitchen. Joe would make their dinner himself.
 
Many of the Protectors crew were scattering, doing their own thing and traveling to different places or visiting different people. As far as Lenara knew, only she and Kyle were staying in apartments. At HQ, they checked in and got their apartments. They would be staying in one of the many apartment buildings that was near Starfleet Headquarters. They were given rooms next to each other. As they walked together towards the building they would be staying in, they talked about any plans they might have. When Kyle spoke of having invited Captain Saavik to dinner, she looked at him with a smile as he admitted to not being the best cook in Starfleet. His comment about being a better captain then cook made her laugh softly. "Well, you can't be great at everything." she said playfully. "You're already a great captain, great friend.... a great lover. If you were a great cook as well, I'd think you were too good to be true." She flashed him a playful grin, her soft laughter filling the air around them.

She was then asked if there was any interest in joining him and Saavik, saying that she could cook and he was sure that Saavik would enjoy her being there. His opinion on Saavik being quite hot was one that she agreed with and he told her that he'd love to see her work her magic on Saavik. Lenara shook her head when he said that if anyone could melt the wall around Saavik, it was Lenara. "Oh, I'm sure you could do it too." she told him. "I just happen to have the magic touch." She had learned that Vulcan's, like Romulans, had sensitive ears and that was the key to seducing them. It was also something she had learned about Ferengi. Being able to seduce them required a certain touch and Lenara had become quite good at it. "I would love to join the both of you for dinner." she told him as they entered the apartment building.

It didn't take them long to get to their rooms and they entered their separate rooms. Lenara looked around her apartment before moving into the bedroom where she placed her bag on the bed. Like Kyle, she wasn't worried about unpacking right now. She would do so later. Right now, they both wanted some good food. Kyle was already waiting on her in the hall when she stepped out and they returned to the first floor and they got a shuttle that was heading to New Orleans. The trip wouldn't take long. As they traveled, Lenara admitted to Kyle to having never been to New Orleans before, but she'd always been interested in going.
Exiting the craft after getting to New Orleans, Lenara looked around curiously, taking in her surroundings and smiling at everything. It had a certain charm that was very appealing. Together they made their way along the streets until they were approaching Sisko's Creole Kitchen. It was impossible to miss and she smiled as Kyle pointed out the neon sign before they head into the building. Inside, Lenara's senses were filled with the wonderful scent of good food and she told Kyle that whatever they had cooking smelled great. They were greeted soon enough by Joseph Sisko and she chuckled as the man approached them and greeted Kyle. She was reminded a bit of Ben as she watched Joseph.

After the two men hugged, Kyle introduced her to Joseph and she was greeted with a hug as well and she returned it before laughing as he called her one of the prettiest first officers he'd ever met with the other being Colonel Kira. This was something Lenara nodded and agreed with. "She is indeed a very pretty woman." Lenara said in agreement. They were then led to a table and Joe said that he would make them his famous shrimp gumbo. A bottle of wine was then brought to their table while the older man disappeared into the kitchen again. Looking at Kyle, she smiled at him and commented that Joe reminded her of Ben. While she hadn't spent a whole lot of time with Ben Sisko, she'd sat and talked with the man during her first visit to DS9 and she got to know him a bit, so she could see the resemblence between the two men.
 
Kyle agreed that Joseph & Ben were a lot alike. He spoke of how Joe taught Ben how to cook. Kyle said this made Ben perhaps the finest cook among the captains in Starfleet. The bottle of wine was opened, then Kyle poured two glasses full. He spoke of coming here almost everyday while at the academy. Kyle said this restaurant had become like a second home. A home away from home Kyle added. He then said Joe Sisko was a very wise man. Besides being one hell of a cook. It wasn't much longer till Joe Sisko came from the kitchen. He was carrying to bowls of his famous shrimp gumbo. Joe closely guarded the recipe for this dish. He often said he was taking this recipe to his grave. No one else would ever know his secret. Joe placed a bowl done in front of both Kyle & Lenara. He then told them to enjoy. Joe had a few things to do in the kitchen. but he would return with coffee and they could sit and catch up.

Over the next 30 minutes or so. Kyle & Lenara enjoyed their meal, their wine and their conversation. Lenara talked of spending more time with Admiral Price & Admiral Akaar. Both men had returned to Earth with the end of the war. They had offices at Starfleet Headquarters now. These two men were very important to Lenara. They were the ones who backed her when few would give her a chance to prove herself. Even fewer wanted Lenara Singh involved with Starfleet in those days. Still Admiral Ben Price & Admiral Leonard James Akaar supported the young woman. Each believing that she deserved the same chance anyone else would get. It was the support from these two powerful admirals that led to the stories being spread about Lenara. Her ex was were the stories started. He was upset that Lenara dumped him. He then began telling everyone that Lenara was letting the two older men use her body for their own pleasure. Painting Lenara like she was some slut who spread her legs whenever the wind blew. Others soon began talking about her. Spreading more stories of how Lenara was fucking her instructors at the academy. Lenara had always been a dedicated student, and she never fucked anyone for good grades. She earned her grades with hard work.

The gumbo, along with the wine was fantastic. But this was normal for Joseph Sisko and his place. The food was everything Kyle had said it would be. Joes soon returned with a pot of coffee. He gave some to both Kyle & Lenara, then joined them at the table. Joe was very interested in hearing how the war went for Kyle & Lenara. He'd heard about many of their victories. Joe said the Federation Press wrote of them being heroes. And how they often turned the tide against the Dominion whenever the Federation Alliance was down and looked almost out. A fleet led by the Protector had never lost a battle against the forces of the Dominion. This was due to the leadership and planning of both Kyle & Lenara. Kyle gave Lenara all the credit. Saying he would have been lost without her at his side during the war. Kyle said she was without a doubt, the best first officer in Starfleet. He told Joe few could have handled the work load she took upon herself, with the manpower shortage Starfleet had suffered. Joe spoke of how believed Kyle & Lenara would be swamped with interview requests from Federation reporters. Now that they were on Earth. And now that the war was over.

The conversation continued over the next few minutes. Kyle brought up the subject of Ben Sisko. Joe became silent and his happy smile faded into one of worry & sadness. It became clear to Joe that neither Kyle nor Lenara knew of what happened to Ben. Kyle asked Joe what was wrong. Joe was an older man who did suffer from health problems. He often joked that there was nothing original left within his body. Joe had many artificial origins inside his body.Joe said he didn't know all the details of what happened. But he said Ben was lost after defeating the Pah-Wraiths and saving the Prophets in a final conflict at the fire caves on Bajor. This happened after the Protector had left Deep Space Nine for Earth. Kyle was stunned by the news. He turned to Lenara and spoke of getting a ship they could take to DS9. Kyle was clearly planning on going after his friend. However, Joe said there was nothing Kyle or Lenara could do. He said the Prophets had taken Ben into the wormhole. He was to stay with them for a while. No one knew how long Ben would stay with them. It could be months, or even years. Kyle felt bad for Jake & Kasidy. They had no idea when or if Ben would return. Kasidy was pregnant with Ben's baby. She was several months along when they last saw her on the station.
 
Lenara watched as Kyle opened the wine for them and poured them each a glass while he spoke of coming to Joe Sisko's establishment almost everyday while he was at the academy. That this place had become like a second home to him and she nodded in understanding. She was also told that besides being one hell of a cook, Joe was a very wise man and she nodded before taking a sip of her wine. "Age often bestows wisdom." she said gently. "And Joe seems like he would have plenty of good advice for someone when it comes to life." Soon enough, Joe emerged from the kitchen with two bowls of his famous shrimp gumbo which he placed down before each of them, telling them to enjoy.

As she enjoyed her meal with Kyle, Lenara told Kyle of how she was going to be spending some time catching up with Admiral Price and Admiral Akaar. They were very dear to her and she told him that she viewed them almost as father figures as they had been one of the few constant male figures in her life when she was older. They had supported her when she passionately spoke of her want to prove herself and follow in her mothers footsteps and become a Starfleet officer. They believed that, despite her heritage, she deserved a chance just like anyone else. It was only with their backing that she got a place in the acadmey. However it was this very same support that became the base of many salicious rumors that began to be spread by her ex-fiance.

Becoming pissed over how she dumped him, he began telling everony that she was letting the two men fuck her and that she was a slut. Others took this and began expanding on the rumors, claiming that she was fucking her instructors for her excellent grades. This had upset Lenara, but not once did she faulter in her training. The only time that she gave thought of giving up was when her mother died. But even then, Admiral Akaar and Admiral Price both told her not to give up. That it wasn't what her mother would of wanted. And in the end she graduated with top scores. She was one of the very best in her class.

The gumbo that Joe had served them was great and Lenara was enjoying it as she ate it and enjoyed the wine. Her experience at Joe's restaurant was everything Kyle said it would be and more. She told Kyle that she would definately have to come back anytime she was near Earth. When Joe returned with a pot of coffee, he poured some for both of them before joining them and they began to speak of the war. The mention of the Federation Press writing of them being heroes made Lenara glance at Kyle while she sipped her coffee. As Kyle began praising her and giving her all the credit, Lenara began blushing a little, her cheeks becoming a little pink as he said that she was the best first officer in Starfleet. "This one's just being modest." she told Joe with a smile. "Not all captains would of taken my advice when it came to the choices that we had to make. I have the best Captain in Starfleet and I believe we compliment each other very well."

The mention of them being swamped with interview requests saw Lenara grimace and she made a soft sound in the back of her throat. While she was proud of her crew and of her part in the war, she did not want the attention from the Federation reporters. After all, she was just doing her duty. Just like everyone else. The mood of the conversation soon turned though, when Kyle brought up Ben Sisko and she looked at Joe. The mention of his son saw his happy smile fade into one of worry and sadness and Lenara glanced quickly at Kyle and then back at Joe while putting down her cup of coffee while Kyle asked what was wrong. She'd had one interaction with the Prophets and it was one that she'd not enjoyed. It had shaken her to her core and it had left her very unsettled. Reaching out, she placed her hand over Joe's and gave it a gentle squeeze. "Then lets hope that they send him back to us soon." she softly said. "Very soon." She knew that Kasidy was pregnant with Ben's baby and she hated the thought of Ben missing out on the baby's birth or worse, possible years of his unborn childs life. Like Kyle, Lenara felt bad for Ben's wife and son.
 
Joe took comfort from Lenara's kind words. He did hope that Ben came back sooner, rather then later. But only time would tell when that would happen. Joe, Kyle & Lenara continued talking, even well after the restaurant closed down for the night. They talked a little about Jake, Kasidy and the baby. Joe was pleased to become a grandfather again. It was something he was looking forwards too. Joe was also interested in what Lenara's plans for the future were. He was happy to know she planned on staying with Kyle, as his first officer on the Protector. Joe said they made a wonderful team. That much was easy to see from how well they worked together during the war. The evening finally came to an end with Joe telling Lenara & Kyle to come back anytime. In fact, he wanted to see them again. Whenever they could get free. He said they always had a plate of good home cooking waiting for them. Kyle said he would be back. As many times as he could before the repair work was done on the Protector. Kyle & Lenara left the restaurant and caught the last shuttle back to San Fransisco. After they arrived back. Lenara & Kyle went to her apartment and talked of what would happen the following day.

Captain Saavik was coming for dinner. Kyle said Lenara could use the kitchen in his apartment to make their dinner. He thought Saavik would be pleased to see Lenara again. The two woman got along very well during several encounters on the Protector. Lenara even spoke of how she agreed with Kyle. Saavik was a very hot looking woman. She had a great looking figure. Kyle had been planning on getting Saavik into bed. but he now wanted to see Lenara seduce the sexy Vulcan before he joined them. Lenara had become a very skilled lover. Once Lenara got the items she needed. She would return and begin making dinner for three. Kyle helped out if and when needed, but mostly he stayed out of Lenara's way. She knew her way around a kitchen, and needed little help. Time flew by as Lenara worked on creating something special. Soon the buzzer went off at the door. Saavik had arrived on time and as expected. She was wearing a Starfleet uniform. Despite being part Romulan. Saavik really embraced her Vulcan side. She never thought of wearing anything comfortable or sexy. Saavik did have other clothes she could have worn, but they were Vulcan style outfits. Not something overly comfortable or sexy in design. Her uniform did show off what a fine body she did have. Saavik was well over one hundred years old, but this was normal for Vulcans. They lived longer lives then normal humans did. Saavik appeared to be in her 30's in human age. A fine looking woman from head to toe. And as it turned out. Saavik had been on Lenara's list of captains she wanted to have sex with. She would be marking off another captain from her list once this evening was over. Kyle went to the door, it opened and Saavik stepped in side.
