And I'm impressed that you've been able to maintain that snowy complexion in Southern California! I'm similarly pale (I don't go to the beach much because my bare stomach, even hairy as it is, reflects sufficient glare from the sun to blind passing aircraft), but I live in Chicago, which is gray and overcast a very large percentage of the time (and is freezing for many of the sunny days, so people are all inside anyway).

They wouldn't have to be. To sum up the relevant part of the article, the pink eyes you see in some animals is usually a function of the eyes being small and not having enough pigment to conceal the color of the blood vessels. The human eye is quite large, comparatively, and structured enough that the "pink-eye" effect doesn't happen. Blue is the default "no pigment" eye color for human albinos.
