I;m goth, but I don't have money for the style :/. Kinda sucks cause I like the way it looks, and depending on what variant I go with the effect can range from not bad to Holy Shit!
I am certain you will be the rockingest! Basic stitches aren't so hard, I recall; if you can get a pattern worked up, it's just a matter of putting it together so it'll hang right. The only problem with Hot Topic or the other similar stores is everyone buys from them. There's a reason there are terms like "Mall-Goth" or "Manufactured Individuality."
Shop wisely on the internet for unusual materials, make your own stuff. You'll be really unique, and you'll know exactly how durable and well-made the clothes are, i.e. whether they'll last more than one or two rounds through the laundry. A lot of Hot Topic stuff doesn't, has been what I've observed.
