Star Wars: Echoes of the One Sith

Nearly two centuries after the battle of Yavin, the Galaxy stands divided between the free and proud people of the Galactic Alliance—successor to the new Republic—and the Empire. Though the two interstellar nations are officially enemies, tensions slowly decline between them. This is largely the result of Emperor Ronan Fel's progressive and reformationist policies, phasing slavery out of the Empire and offering full citizenship to non-humans.

The Jedi Order persuades the Yuuzhan Vong—descendents of a species of invaders from a foreign galaxy—in an attempt at reconciliation with the Galactic Alliance. As a gesture of restitution, a group of Yuuzhan Vong biotech masters known as Shapers undertake a great project to restore a planet ravaged by their own weapons a century ago—with promises to do the same to many other worlds in return for membership in the Aliance.

Through unknown methods, a mysterious saboteur corrupts the living tools that were released to rebuild the planet, created instead a horrific mutagenic plague that twisted the world's surviving life into tortured monsters.

Before the Vong could discover the source of the mutation, the Galactic Alliance struck against them, driving them into hiding. For their association with the Vong, the Alliance withdrew their support to the Jedi order.

Before the Jedi can begin to make political amends, a great fleet of Dark Siders supported by Imperial forces dropped out of hyperspace and assailed the jedi temple. Tens of thousands were slain, and what few survived were hounded throughout the galaxy.

The Sith had returned.

Jedi Knight Klail Vorn was able to escape with a few teenage padawans, but Sith ships were in hot pursuit. Klail dropped out of Hyperspace over Septemus Norne, where he bundled the padawnas into an escape pod. “I've programed this pod to land you by an ancient fortress where several Sith were slain long ago. The stain they left upon the Force will cast it's shadow over your presence. I will lead the Sith away, and return for you when I can.”

Meanwhile, on Septemus Norne, a young woman—and perhaps some friends—decide to investigate the old ruin in the countryside in search of valuable salvage and other treasures.

Norne is a bright white star in a quite corner of the Outer Rim. It's fifth world, Septimus, is inhabited by a thriving and cosmopolitan population of 3 billion sentients. Quatrus Norne is a hot, barren rocky world with minimal atmosphere, but several profitable mining instillation. Octavious Norne is a great gases giant that is 'mined' for rare gasses.

On paper, Septimus Norne is a unified world with membership in the Galactic Alliance. In practice, the Alliance is quite some distance away. Norne is slightly closer to the Empire's sphere of influence—and substantially closer to Nar Shada—the center of Hutt power.

The people of the Septimus system have strong memories of Imperial oppression during their grandfather's day. Old men die. Memories fade to legends. Cultures evolve. Septimus now does thriving business with the Empire and sometimes wonders if they are the oppressive regime their grandfathers remember any more.

Pride aside, Sepitums is hardly a model of liberty and justice. The seven nation states that comprise the planet squabble over resources and politics whenever their enemies aren't paying attention and it won't make them look bad to the Alliance. Slavery is technically illegal in all seven nations, but a few words from a lawyer and a few bribes can make the definition of slavery dance like a hyperactive puppeteer’s marionettes.

Egging all this on are three different Hutt Cartels with competing claims on the system.

The Haunted Lands are a vast wasteland between the nations of Myth Altha, Myth Arwen, and Myth Voren. Fragmented histories record that, over two millenia ago, an alliance of Sith ruled this world from a great city in the center of the Haunted Lands.

The entire region has been devastated and abandoned since the Jedi aided their ancestors in claiming their freedom from the Sith. Even if the rumors of unnatural spirits and paranormal storms are dismissed, this is still a dangerous land. The predators here have little fear of sentient. Some zones still put off dangerous levels of radiation. Every few years, a decrepit but still deadly battle droid or automated walker creaks out of the Haunted Lands and goes on a rampage.

But, even after all these millinia, scavenger who dare pierce into the depths of the Haunted Lands can bring out great wealth in precious metals, salvaged parts, lost technology, and even artifacts of the Force.

Atijk'fani—played by Khan—grew up in Myth Altha, south of the Haunted Lands and north of the Sapphire Sea. Her name was considered unpronounceable to those not fluent in Ryl, and she was usually called Tiffany in Basic.

Tiffany never knew her father and her mother died in childbirth. When she was seven, her grandmother past away as well. With no family remaining, she was 'adopted' by Thalos--an old bachelor of human extraction who ran a mechanical salvage and restoration shop.

She became for all intents and purposes his property. Thalos was a greedy old bastard. However, he was not inclined too lash out unnecessarily at his property. Discovering the child's bright mind and clever fingers, she became his apprentice in the mechanics and computing--getting a better education than most slaves--indeed, than many children too poor to afford school--did.

Tiffany grew up craving for some excitement to come into her life. That seemed it would never happen and that she would stay forever confined at that dirty shop. But it would be on a fateful day that everything changed. Two burly zabrak lead a band of broad shouldered gamoreans into the shop. Saying something about his gambling debts, they seized Thalos, locked him in binder cuffs, and dragged him kicking and screaming out of the shop. Tiffany was left all alone in the workshop but she would not stay there. Before someone came back and send her off to some new bondage, she seized Thalos's blaster, her own utility belt, and an array of other useful things and fled the neighborhood to see what life had prepared for her.
