Both Carys and Lilias were startled the moment Crane shouted his orders. His voice was like a spike drilling through them and Carys, especially, felt a chill remembering his earlier brutality. No. She would not be claimed by him. If she had her choice, Crane would never touch her again! As Ivana helped them up, Carys could still feel the lingering reminder of what that beast had done, the last bit of his cum dribbling down her thighs. What she wouldn't give to wash it all away, to replace such horrible nightmares with hopeful dreams. She thought about the magic these beings had, how it could help, how it would help.
Just then, Carys' thoughts drifted. She thought about the one kind man—no, he was a ghoul...oh, did it matter any more—and her cheeks heated. He'd want her happy. He'd make sure of it. She knew it the moment he walked away.
Just then, Ivana explained the magic a bit more. How it was administered, how it worked. Carys nodded in understanding, grateful to be told about this...about everything. She wondered if being a mage would make her stronger, better able to recover once the magic treatment they had took its hold. Maybe if she worked on her own magic, her own abilities... She glanced over her shoulder at Brick, her cheeks heating just a bit more. Would he let her try? For him, would he if it meant enjoyment for them both?
Facing forward again, Carys looked over at her friend. Lilias still seemed a bit frightened, but Carys felt a bit easier knowing the things Ivana had dared to divulge. She'd risked herself for them both telling them these things and that meant something. Though Carys was unsure if the ghoulish woman knew that. She glanced at Ivana and gave her a smile. "Thanks," she said softly. "For giving us hope.
Lilias nodded, one hand trying to hold her shredded dress together, the other moving to gently touch Ivana's arm. "We are in your debt. You're a good friend."
Carys just smiled, but her anticipation grew the closer they got to the citadel. She'd have to make her declaration if she wanted to avoid potential problems. But she was terrified of what Crane might do.
