Gaius had been a friend of the family for years, he'd been invited round for birthdays, Christmases, New Years and every event under the sun. He was basically family to the Delane's and they treated him as such, never inquiring why he was round at any given time of the day or night, simply accepting him as part of the furniture. He was a tall young man, some 6"1, with classically strong, handsome features, though he often wore glasses. His dark brown hair shone with some kind of perfection that seemed more in keeping with a shampoo advert than real life. He was a courteous, kind and well respected man, never one to forget his manners or charm.
One day in late autumn, Gaius appeared at the house as was customary to watch a film with David, the Delane boy of about his own age who had introduced him to the family some fifteen years previously, they were long standing friends without an inch of friction between them. He simply walked in the back door without knocking, complementing Ms Delane on her cooking before jumping over the back of the sofa to land beside David "What we watching today?" he asked, a little out of breath from his jog up the hill.
David jumped a little, lost in his own world as Gaius appeared. "I thought we could watch Kill Bill!" David exclaimed before they could her a small tut of disapproval from the kitchen. David and Gaius both rolled their eyes as he switched over to Netflix and booted the film up.
It was simply another lazy afternoon afterall...
