Hanna was born into a barbarian village to the far north, daughter of a somewhat powerful clan she was the eldest child by a number of minutes before her twin brother - expected to learn the ways of maintaining a home where her brother was expected to be a warrior they both fell into these roles naturally - still all members of the tribe were expected to be able to serve in the defence of it.
Raids on the village were rare but most of them occured when the warriors were away on hunts or raids of there own, forcing the womanfolk to defend themselves.
She was twelve at the time and while she tried to defend herself she was knocked out and seized by the raiders along with some other members of the village, the next few years were a blur - sold into slavery and resold numerous times she barely remembers what she experienced, especially given drugs to make her more compliant, her only advantage was that she was growing up to be highly attractive which saved her virtue due to resale value alone.
At sixteen that all changed - sold to a brothel she was put to work, barely a shell of the fiery barbarian child she once was. For over a year she worked consistently doing everything possible to avoid a beating and recieve her fix of whatever drugs were available - some clients were gentle, others rough, but she was in a permanent daze often on aphrodisiacs to ensure that she was content where she was and in her more lucid moments she did learn to enjoy herself.
While she did not know her birthday it was on her eighteenth that her life changed again - a flood of memories of her life flashed before her eyes, she remembered scrubbing ships, providing drinks for nobles, she remembered being grabbed at, and pleasured as she pleasured others, she remembered begging to be released and begging for release - the mixed emotions seemed to fuel her, and the emotion that won out was anger - sure she didn't mind the life but she had been given no choice in it.
Over a few minutes was all it took her to turn the brothel into a scene of carnage - having taken a patrons axe she has cut through all who stood between her and the exit - namely the brothel guards and a few unfortunate patrons who felt it wise to interceed against the girl.
She was determined to go home and over the next few months she made her way towards it as best she could, frequently sleeping with people for coin, shelter and pleasure - she learned to appreciate the skills she had and the raw enjoyment of the choice she had, other times when she was not in the mood she simply earned coin in other ways, killing goblins, undertaking manual labour etc - but she frequently merged jobs, working some nights on her back to ensure enough coin for the trip home.
Half way through the year she got there with a caravan where she acted as both a guard and as nightly comfort for the other guards - she enjoyed the money quite a bit, walking to her hut she encountered her family only for them to barely recognise her - where her mother was a harden muscular woman from the life she lead Hanna was almost waif like.
The claim to be the long lost sister was met harshly by her brother - he hit the stranger a hard slap for her stories ... only to find himself backhanded away bloodly while the girl stood there unharmed.
Witnessing her son manhandled in this manner but a comparatively tiny woman her mother began to question what was occuring and the full story appeared of where she had gone and how she had come back, and the source of her power was confirmed - as was tradition on her brother's eighteenth birthday he was to undertake the rite of the Berserker for the family, this was intended to see about confering the heir to the clan the full power of the legendary warrior, only he had not been the power - which was not unpreceedented most did not in fact it was tradition not magic after all. However the shamans had said that the family was certain to gain it from the omens so it had caused much worry within them when it had not occurred, as the omens were never wrong. But it seemed that the power had been confered to the eldest - Hanna.
The village was thrown on the issue, never had a woman recieved the power in their clan, and the girl was a virtual stranger to them also. Further they had talked to the merchant guards and while they vouched for her combat ability they also were not slow about praising her other virtues. Some claimed that she should be killed so the power could go to one more deserving, others claimed that she had proven herself via feats of strenght on the journey home with witnesses to vouch for her.
Others claimed that her whoring was shameful. where others stated that the bragging of the male member of the clan for similiar activities was equivalent and not frowned upon. She faced many challanges from those opposed to her, and one ambush where she left one of the ambushers crippled.
The challanges she liked some unarmed combat, some relating to physical strength and endurance, some hunting, and some actual martial combat - though not to the death. While she did not win all of them - she was bad at hunting for one - she did win most, and occassionally gambled her body on victories versus coin or trade goods for her family (something that many more traditionalists fumed about)..
Eventually she grew restless as many Berserker's did, and after a feast she left the tribe to find her way in the world.
