Michelle smiled at the reassurance, though she wasn't so sure Jocelyn would be able to do much should her mother really decide to put an end to her. Luckily Arlann did seem to like her, and if there was a single person who could interfere with what Mara wanted it was her wife. "Perhaps you're right, property value is of great importance to your mom, and worrying about something I have no ability to stop is just as silly... I'd much rather think about you, and frankly wonder how in the hell I'm the one you're going out with. Some days I still don't get it." She smirked, leaning over and nipping at Jocelyn's neck playfully, a soft growl, nearly a purr, rumbling through her throat as she pulled Jocelyn tight. Michelle had changed a lot over the past few months, and what had started as a sexually fueled secret relationship, riddled with anger, had developed in to a much more reasonable Michelle and quite the fulfilling thing between the two of them, though a competitive streak had been there from the start, one Michelle was happy to consistently lose.
One thing had yet to change, how Mara treated her, and the bit of fear that shot through her when she was on the receiving end of the powerful woman's gaze. She shot up with Jocelyn when ordered to, mostly out of instinct but also acutely aware that being disrespectful wouldn't do any good, she had to plan when to say things, and use her witty sarcasm only when absolutely unavoidable. Michelle lit up moments later however, overly excited that she would be staying, and on a night her parents would be gone. She barely noticed the evil bit slipped in after, in the form of money and Mara making it clear what she wanted to happen. A frown formed on her face, mainly because she didn't want to leave period and knowing money meant so damn little when it came to happiness, something she had learned after being cut off... Even if living with Jocelyn and her wealthy parents wasn't exactly poverty level shit. It left her with a shitty move, to politely reject it, which turned out really badly as her smartass side tried to pitch in suggestions.
"You're right, in fact maybe I could get a place in this building, or across the street... Privacy is nice." She muttered, cursing herself but knowing she had to stick to her guns. "Or better yet, how much is rent for the guest room? Maybe you could just take that with you while you're out and deposit it in your bank and that could be my rent?" She wasn't sure if she was being clever or dumb but she really didn't want to leave, and the prospect of her daughter being over at Michelle's, alone with her, would hopefully be a worse thought to the over protective alpha than allowing Michelle to continue her stay in their guest room. Michelle also hoped the slight cocky edge to her 'questions' wasn't noticed, or at least not daring enough to piss Mara off... She just couldn't help it, she didn't want the money but if it were forced on her she really could just find a place within walking distance and constantly show up. It wasn't like she couldn't afford it with a million damn dollars. So she waited, nervous but doing her best to look confident as she waited for Mara to either smash her over the head with the case, tear her apart, smirk and throw her out without the money, or compromise... Though she doubted a woman of her word like Mara would withdraw the cash after having said it was Michelle's.
