As the bride was rushed off Kai got up from his seat in the back, instantly worried for Ashlin. He could hear Reyn and Luna trying to calm the situation, even though the wedding had indeed fallen apart.
"If everyone would like to follow us, there is a reception area," Reyn smiled, hiding her anxiousness, "we have set up a large clearing with food, music and tables. Unfortunately the wedding portion will have to be postponed till matters are resolved."
Kai couldn't stay any longer, slipping into the trees and running, racing towards Ashlins house. He didn't knock, sliding in through the front door and beelining for the staircase, taking two at a time. He only paused at the bedroom door, his breath ragged.
"Is she okay?"
With Luna's help they led the procession to a nearby clearing, decked out in twinkling lanterns. Round tables were set out around the edges of the clearing, a buffet on one end running hot food by the caterer Ash had found. In another corner was a live band, playing upbeat music. People slowly wandered in, some moving to the middle to dance, others wanting food or just a place to sit.
"Cmon Luna. I saw Xael and Eli in the crowd together," Reyn smiled at the wolf, "I think we could both use our men and a stiff drink."
Her eyes fluttered open at his words, the pain searing. Her head felt fuzzy and stuffed, making it hard for her to think straight. She knew she could heal herself if she could just remember the words...and stay awake.
"Braxxx..." She slurred, part of her mouth numb from the burn, "She ru-ruined my weddinggg. I...I..."
Tears sprang forth, the pain overbearing and her heart aching for the wedding she still hasn't gotten. With shaky fingers she reached up to touch his cheek tenderly, then dropped her hand onto her face, desperately searching for the right words.
Finally they came to her and Ash could all but whisper them feeling her fingers buzz with warm energy. Quickly she could feel the draining ache in her stomach, telling Ash she was overspending her magic on healing the deep wound. She pushed forward until the wound was no more, then turned quickly, grabbing a waste basket beside the bed as her stomach upheaved. Her head swam with the drain, her body feeling cold and numb.
