As they neared the house, both of them slowed to a crawling pace, looking around for overseers. No one seemed to be around, but as the came up the side of the house Ash froze, hearing Kayden's laugh. There were a few other voices, and then she heard her partners, just his voice making her heart ache.
"On the day of," Kayden sighed, "I'm sorry about that Braxton. You and Ash really liked that chapel."
He responded, their voices fading into the background as they wandered to Xael and Luna's house. Peeking out, she saw no one in the area.
"C'mon," she whispered, looking back at him, "You'll want to shift first."
He only smiled, shifting with ease into a small cat that wove around her legs. Ash stepped forward, bolting to her front door as she snuck in, letting the cat follow before closing it. For once she regretted the open concept of the house with all it's floor to ceiling length windows. Sighing, she rushed through the house, her naked body flying up stairs towards her room, the cat at her heels and Zeus trying to quickly follow, barking madly at the intruder.
"Shhh," she stopped at her bedroom door, leaning down to pet the confused dog, "He's not evil, he's a friend."
Slipping into her bedroom, she shut the door to the dog as Zeus continued to bark and growl at the cat.
"Bad choice of animal," she sighed, walking to the closet, "My dog hates you now."
Tugging her favorite comfy pair of undergarments on, she tossed a pair of black shorts at the cat. It growled, its body turning to smoke and reforming into the dark haired man, picking up the offered clothing and pulling it on.
"Why does he have these? They're tight, and end at the knee."
"He works out," she raised an eyebrow at him, "And because his ass looks great in them."
"How's mine look?" he joked, turning it to be inspected.
"Decent," she laughed, finding one of Braxton's tailored dress shirt's and pulling it on, basking in his scent to comfort her.
Finding a pair of skin tight black shorts she liked to wear around the house she pulled them on before flopping onto her bed, feeling the defeat of the day wash right back into her.
"No crying," he bounced onto the bed, lying out beside her, "What happened?"
Zeus's barking rose another level, anxious that he couldn't get into the room. She could hear him run down the stairs then back up, the poor dog nervous that his owner was where he couldn't see her. When he got too loud she finally relented and opened the door, watching the dog spring onto the bed and curl up beside the dark-haired man.
"See? He loves me now."
Sighing, she returned to the bed, rehashing all the events of the day.
