Without having anywhere specific in mind, the wolf hadn’t travelled very far before plopping himself on the ground and lying down flat on his back against the prickly blades of grass. Silently he stared up at the clear blue skies and fluffy white clouds that floated by peacefully without a care in the world. A loud demanding growl from his stomach reminded him once more of his need to eat, the slice of bread as good as it’d been was hardly enough to satisfy the wolf’s hunger. On the contrary it had made the hunger pains even worse as his stomach demanded more of the fluffy white rocks the wolf had so foolishly left behind. Perhaps he should have taken one or two? Nuno had made it sound like there’d been enough for both of them so it really couldn’t have hurt to do so… maybe it wasn’t too late? Pondering the thought for a moment before violently shaking his head, the wolf absolutely hated it when someone or something else deprived him of his rightful prey, and he wasn’t about to steal someone elses meal and make them experience the same disappointment the wolf had grown so accustomed to as of late. Even rabbits needed to eat… right?
Rolling from side to side to distract himself the wolf let out another growl of his own, creasing his brows when he couldn’t get Nuno out of his mind. Even with the disappointment of abandonment fading and being replaced by hunger, the first and foremost thing on the wolf’s mind was the twin bunny ears perched upon Nuno’s head. The blond beautiful hair, and those large bright green eyes. Nuno was attractive, in fact the wolf would even go as far as to say the boy was everything the wolf had ever wanted from a mate….well besides being a rabbit, and more importantly male…. Though even then Nuno’s scent had been absolutely delicious even without the smell of cinnamon and freshly baked bread. His voice had been so sweet to listen to, and that blush? The way he’d tried to cover his reddening face so frequently? Priceless. Just thinking about the boy made the wolf smile a bit. Though at the same time he couldn’t help but regret his own foolishness. He should have chased after Nuno when he had the chance. The boy was probably long gone now and the wolf would never see him again, after all, no one in their right mind would go out of their way to cross paths with him.
Sniffling briefly in self-loathing, the wolf’s eyes flickered when his nose picked up Nuno’s scent. But quickly dismissed it as either the wind carrying a lingering fragrance, or his mind playing tricks on him. Despite his suspicions though he sniffed the air a few more times, and after he’d picked up a definite source giving off Nuno’s delicious fragrance the wolf couldn’t stop himself. Clambering back on to his feet and darting back towards the field before he even knew what he was doing. Even when he realized his feet carrying him rapidly towards the field he didn’t bother to slow down, figuring that he’d think of a suitable response when he found Nuno again.
Unfortunately he was too late, and when he burst into the clearing with twigs and leaves in his hair, there was no sign of Nuno or the basket the wolf left behind. Disappointment filling the wolf’s eyes for only a split second before he began to sniff to the air again. Nuno had definitely come back, even if it was just for his basket, the boy couldn’t have gone far yet, and if the wolf was lucky he’d at least be able to get a glimpse of the boy. Strangely enough the thought of seeing Nuno again motivated him to chase after the boy more than the delicious….
Pausing for a moment when he picked up the scent of strawberry jam from a nearby tree. The slowly made his way over and peered up cautiously half hoping, half expecting Nuno to be clinging to the tree branches. Instead though the wolf swiftly jumped back as a jammed up bread crust fell from the above. Several fat squirrels, holding entire slices of bread in their small paws. Giving the tree a swift kick and scaring the squirrels, the wolf looked around frantically, annoyed at how he’d so easily been distracted. He didn’t know if he was going the right way, but he couldn’t just stand still and wait. If Nuno had enough food to feed stupid squirrels, then surely he could spare a bit for the wolf.
