School Rumble (Broom and I)

"...Yeah, sure," Jana mumbled. "Kuki?"

"Of course," she said, glancing at Mei in concern. "...Are you okay? What happened?" The question of the hour, it seemed.

"Nothing...nothing happened..." Mei didn't even know how to explain what happened. "I'm fine..thanks...I need to umm...go do something." She needed air. Fresh air..she just felt like she was suffocating. Before they could ask anymore questions she wandered off, and she didn't stop walking until she was outside. She really hated this...this was turning out to be a really crummy day.

Jana glanced at Aimee a moment, frowning before following after Mei. "Take care of it, would you?" she said, deciding that this...wasn't a good time that Mei needed to be alone. But she didn't say anything, either. She just stuffed her pockets into her worn jacket, and stayed beside her. Things had been...rough for everyone, everyone was stressed out...Jana was still sore, Mei was recovering still. Rough was the kind word, she supposed.

Whenever Mei needed her, Jana would be there. She knew that, and that's why she'd be the silent companion until she wanted to speak.

Mei noticed that Jana had been following her but she didn't say anything. It was..nice to have here there even if she didn't ask but..she really hated making her worry.

"Jana..I'm fine. I just...saw something I shouldn't have. It's none of my business and I shouldn't have made a scene like that..so please don't worry about me.."

"I won't," Jana said with an easy smile. "But I will keep walking with a friend who needs some company, even if she wants to act like she doesn't." She wouldn't pry, she usually never did anyway. If Mei said she was fine, Jana would trust that was true unless she said something else. She had a guess to what she saw, but she didn't know why or with who.

Mei looked at Jana for a moment before biting her lip. She just..couldn't hold back anymore. She was so angry and frustrated. At herself, at Adam, and Kokoro...

She moved over to Jana and hugged her tightly. She didn't care if they were in public...she was hurting and Jana was there for her. She wouldn't ignore it anymore. She couldn't...

"My cousin...he and my cousin are...I think they..." In her room even...? Maybe. She wasn't sure but she definitely saw them locked together. "I don't know why I'm so angry Jana. I don't have a right..It's not any of my business..."

"Shh," Jana said, arms slipping around her. She had learned to take Mei at face value when she was like this, there usually wasn't a lot of things bubbling underneath that she didn't let go of. "Mei, it's normal." she assured, fingers running through her hair. "You...didn't want to do what you did to Adam, you obviously care for him. Just because Komoku rides you like a cheap horse doesn't mean you automatically forget the hurt from doing that to Adam," she reminded gently. "You're okay, sweetheart. You care about him more than you want to admit, maybe...but you have to let some of that go, it's not going to be the same as it used to be."

Mei blushed madly. "I do not let him do that to me.." She said defensively, though she would admit to something that sounded more...graceful than that. "I don't know. I want to let it go but I'm still hurt. I enjoy being with you and Kuki but..I really miss what Adam and I had and...well I don't know. I don't know what to do to let this go. I just...really..." She needed Komoku..she needed him right now but she didn't want to admit it. She needed him to distract her from whatever feelings she had left over Adam...

"I know," Jana smiled faintly. "Listen, we can handle things here, why don't you head off early, Mei? You've been working your ass off when you're not supposed to, I think an hour or two off wouldn't hurt much. We can hold the fort down for that long, I think."

"Oh but..." Mei shook her head a bit. Well, technically she didn't want to leave because she knew Komoku was going to show up sooner or later, but there was something else. Someone else. "I..I had to bail out Nicholas Trevlyn today. I don't want to leave until I'm absolutely sure he's secure..."

"Trust me," Jana said firmly. "That little slimeball won't be going anywhere, I'm going to see to it personally." She didn't usually question Mei's choices, usually because Mei always had a reason or another for it. It was a...different call, one that she wasn't sure Jana herself would make, but it mattered little anyway. Mei was the leader, and she was loyal to Mei. If she thought that it was a good idea, Jana did too.

"..yeah. I trust you, Jana. It's also that...well Komoku is coming and I really want to see him." She was the only person Mei would admit that to. The only one, and she really didn't want to do it in the first place. She was actually expecting Jana to question her about that, but was kind of glad when she didn't. She'd talk about it more when she was feeling better.

"Well, then why don't you just relax in your room until he comes around to see you?" Jana smiled. "I'll point him in the right direction, but you really should relax...Best friend orders." she said with a firm, but playful grin.

"..Alright." Why did everyone think she was working so hard? That she needed to relax? Or maybe it was just because of what just happened with Adam? Mei didn't know but..ugh, she kind of didn't want to go back to her room, either.

Though she heard the door open, and then she saw Kokoro giving her a stare. Mei swallowed a bit and looked away. "Hello, Jana." Kokoro greeted with a slight bow before her red eyes turned to Mei. "I came here to see if you were okay, Mei." A quick glance and it still looked like Kokoro had just gotten the best sex of her life. Even her hair was a little messy and of course..her blouse missing two buttons that were there at the beginning of the day. Mei really didn't want to see her like that.

"I bet," Jana replied faintly. "Have a good time, Koko?" She knew exactly what she did, and Jana knew it, too. If she thought she was getting away without some vitriol, she was dead fucking wrong. Nobody pissed around with Mei like that when Jana was around.

Kokoro's eyes shifted to Jana and they narrowed just a tad. "I don't see how that's any of your business." She stiffly responded. Oh, she never did like Jana. She was the reason why Mei wasn't the miserable bitch she was the last time they spoke. Then again, it gave her ever opportunity in the world to crush her happiness, so she should be thankful.

"Why?" Mei's voice was just barely above a whisper but Kokoro heard it as loud a day. "Why did you go after him when you knew he was my ex boyfriend, Kokoro?" The smaller girl tilted her head to the side, seeing that Mei was on the verge of tears again. Ah, how to do this...

"The same reason why you went after Komoku while you were with Adam, I suppose." Her face was cold, though inside she couldn't be any happier seeing Mei blush and look away with shame. "At any rate, I do want to apologize. That was..inappropriate to do in your room." She was hinting but not revealing..

"Or you did it on purpose," Jana said dryly. "Because you seem so torn up about it all, and everything. Don't think I haven't seen this bullshit before, girl. I can smell it on you a mile away. You fuck with Mei like that again, you're going to have a worse problem than Adam's dick making you limp, you get me?"

"Of course I did it on purpose. Because I like him and he likes me. Not everything is about Mei, regardless of if she's the leader or not." Kokoro shot back, her eyes narrowing at Jana. She wouldn't back down like everyone else did. Jana didn't scare her one bit.

"Just..get back to work." Mei told Kokoro as she did her best to keep herself composed. It really wasn't her business...

"As you wish.." Kokoro turned away from Mei, but she gave Jana a glare.

"Cunt," Jana said, sticking her tongue out at her. Ugh, what a bitch. Mei had enough issues and Kokoro was just needlessly complicating them. She had another thing coming if she thought that Jana would let all of this slide.

Kokoro ignored that..for now. Jana didn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Mei was already in pain and that was enough for her. Maybe she'd go after Komoku next...

Mei sighed and looked rubbed her good eye in frustration. Why was Kokoro being this way? Did she still hold a grudge against her after all this? Or was she telling the truth? That it just happened? Things with Komoku just happened, so...

"I guess I will go to my room then.."

"Hey...don't let what that bitch is doing get to you, Mei," Jana murmured. "I know you didn't mean to do what happened, some things just can't be helped. All she's doing is trying to get under your skin, don't let it work. Adam didn't intend for it to happen either, I bet you everything I own." Adam didn't strike her as that kind of guy, really...course, she didn't strike Mei as the type of person to want Komoku, either.

"Yeah..you're right. I wish she would just..tell me why she hates me so much though..." Mei said as she started to make her way back into the building. "And maybe I need to talk to Adam about this..so it doesn't fester." She hated talking about feelings though and would rather run away. But she wasn't sure how else to solve this..thing between them. She felt like..there wasn't any closure with how they left things. She couldn't really explain herself because she thought he wouldn't want to hear it but...well what was the point when things wouldn't ever be the same again?

"Maybe," Jana murmured. "...I'd give both of you a little bit of time, though. Adam needs to get that snake out of his ear," she muttered. "But if he was that torn up about it, I don't think he'd still be around, you know?"

"...You're right." Mei told Jana. She hadn't seen Justin in weeks, probably because he was still hurting about Jana. At least Adam was still here helpign her. "I'm going to go in my room. I'll see you later, Jana..Thanks." She gave her a small smile.

"You're welcome," Jana smiled, giving her a friendly peck on the cheek. "You're amazing, Mei...don't ever forget that. Everyone has the right to make an occasional choice on feeling, you're no different."
