School Rumble (Broom and I)

Komoku's eyes scanned over them lazily, cheek resting against his fist. "Uh huh, what about them?" he asked. "They do something stupid?" It wasn't hard to do that in Turuga, after all. Everyone was out for something or another. The Schools just gave it an excellent excuse to do it. It was one of his favorite things, after all. But they looked familiar, not immensely so. But he was fairly certain he had seen their faces somewhere.

Of course he knew of them. Mei collected the pictures once more and placed them in a stack and back into the folder. "They did what you did. Attacking my partner and I. We interrogated them briefly also but none of them really wanted to talk. What do you know about them?" She asked as she looked back at him. She doubted he'd give her anything useful, but she still had to ask anyway.

"I know they're idiots," Komoku said dryly. "I can tell just by looking at you, that you'd probably mop the floor with half of the garbage in this town. They probably heard the same thing I did, Nicholas is planning to protest and wanted to make a stronger occasion of it, more the merrier, I say." Komoku shrugged. "Do I look like a criminal mastermind? There's a lot of dumb fucks out there who will take any excuse to start a brawl, myself included." he grinned widely. "You and I should fight sometime, I bet you're pretty graceful."

The corner of Mei's mouth twitched as if she wanted to smirk. She enjoyed when people recognized how strong she was before she even gave them a demonstration. "Unfortunately I am not one of those people who look for excuses to fight. I have better things to do than to entertain brutes like you. Like make sure this protest is a peaceful, civil one." She walked over to him and took out a key, using it to uncuff him from the table. Though she had a firm grip on his wrist, and she brought his both his hands behind his back.

"Ooh, you're one of those girls," Komoku said. She had a surprisingly strong grip for being such a short thing. But he let her do it regardless, truth be told...he'd just be making things worse anyway. "Guess I'm stuck in some shitty cell, huh?" he sighed in annoyance. "Can I at least get some looser cuffs? Not like I'm going to go anywhere. I can't run around and be an idiot if I keep breaking the law in front of you stupid jerks, you know."

"You won't be needing these when you get to your cell, so at least that's one wish granted." Mei made sure the cuffs were extra tight, however. She wanted him to be uncomfortable. She forced him to his feet and then escorted him to his proper holdings before opening up her phone and calling the number Nicholas had provided to her. Once he answered, Mei leaned against the wall. "Caught another goon trying to use your protest as an excuse to attack us. His name is Komoku Rokujou. Know him?"

"I was hoping you'd call me for something a little less serious," Nicholas chuckled faintly. "Yes, I know him...he's a Blue student, I grew up with him, actually. I have to apologize for his behavior...laws are not something he so easily follows," he sighed. "I trust he didn't cause you any problems, Mei?"

"Not me. Though he messed up my partner so badly she is now in hiding with Justin Campbell and won't tell me where she is. I just thought I'd let you know. This probably won't be the last time I call you either. From what Mr. Rokujou told me, lots of students are using your cause as an excuse to rebel against us in a more physical sense than what you have told me that your intentions are. I don't like doing this, Nicholas...I don't like shutting down something that is perfectly within the rules of the mandate. Though if this continues to be a problem, I might have to disband you and your supporters." Mei warned him, playing with a strand of her hair as she spoke. She was still upset that Jana wasn't back, and that she seemingly had gotten no where with this entire investigation and the school day was over already.

"I understand, it is unfortunate," Nicholas sighed. "I would like to cooperate with you in any way I can, Mei. I am familiar with some of Komoku's friends...perhaps Justin is hiding from them. They are known to hold quite the grudge? I doubt Komoku will be so cooperative, but please...despite my misgivings, I know you're doing what's best for Turuga, let me help you however I can."

There was silence over the phone as Mei thought about his words. Really, the more she spoke to Nicholas, the more she found it hard to believe he was involved in anything malicious. She didn't exactly trust him, but there was no reason for her to not accept his offer. "...Alright. I would be willing to accept any help you can give me, Mr. Trevlyn."

"Thank you," Nicholas smiled. "And please, call me Nicholas...or Nick. I get enough formality from my teachers, I don't need them from people my age," he chuckled. "I do know a few people, if I find anything about Justin's whereabouts, I'll contact you immediately. Keep an eye on Komoku, Mei...he's as dangerous as he acts."

"He's locked up. Not much he can do in a cell. I will be awaiting your phone call, Nicholas. Goodbye." Mei hung up her phone, not waiting for a response, though that was what she did to everyone. Even though she was slowly becoming fond of this boy. His ideals were ridiculous, but he himself was pleasant. More pleasant than anyone else had been to her anyway. If he could figure out where Jana and Campbell was, she'd be grateful. It's not like he was doing this because she was threatening him, he was doing this out of an actual desire to help. Which was alright in Mei's book.

A few days passed, Jana kept in constant contact with Mei. Even though she knew that Mei was growing a little annoyed that she hadn't told her where she was...it actually felt really nice to know she was so worried about her. But that was also why she was laying low, something really odd was going on and she would help her partner better by keeping herself off the radar for now. Justin was a sweetheart, really. Jana kind of got the impression that he wasn't used to actually having a crush on someone, so he was pleasant company at least. She hated being cooped up in his safehouse, but it was better than limping around outside. Thankfully, she was finally starting to feel just the tenderness of her injuries...and now her patience was running thin.

Her clothes had been ruined to shit with the fight with Komoku, so she had Justin get her some spares. She rolled her shoulders one day, slipping on her jacket. She had opted for a white tank-top that seemed to hug her curves ever so nicely, and a pair of cargo pants.

"Alright, Justin," Jana murmured, fitting her twin swords to her right hip. "It's time for us to chat about something."

Justin had thoroughly enjoyed nursing his girlfriend back to health. Well, at least he thought of her as his girlfriend. Whether or not Jana agreed was her own choice. Even though she was really rude sometimes, he found it attractive. All the girls he had been out with much more docile. Boring, really. Justin just liked company every once in a while so he'd let them chase after him for a bit before he got bored. Though in this relationship he seemed to be doing all the running, bending over backwards for her and risking his neck to get her whatever she needed despite attempting to lay low for a while.

He watched her strap her weapons to her hip, and whatever she wanted to talk about didn't sound fun...at all. "Alright Princess. I'll start wearing condoms."

"Cute," she smirked, arms crossing over her breasts. "Little late for that, smart ass. I'm talking about Nicholas Trevlyn. I owe you big for this, handsome. But I'm still a member of the DC, and I need to see this to the end, I'm not letting Mei down. You know something you're not telling, so please tell me. I'd rather not have to haul my stupid ass boyfriend end because he's scared. I can keep an eye on you, so long as you trust me...and I can't do that, if I know you're keeping something from me."

Ugh. He knew this was coming. He gave her a frown and then leaned back on the couch. Now, it's not that he didn't want to help her. He did. Though, also knew that if he told her what she knew, he probably would have been signing his death certificate. He was silent for a bit, but then he stood up from the couch and paced around a bit. He was obviously nervous. "Look, they already wanna kill me so I might as well tell you. Everything." He paused and then took a deep breath. Hopefully neither she nor Mei would arrest him for hiding this information. "They didn't tell me any specifics, because they didn't trust me. However, I know that peaceful protest Nicholas spoke of is anything but. They are planning on attacking, Jana. I don't know how, but they are. Nicholas Trevlyn is the mastermind, and I've been delivering messages about it for the past month or so."

"The past month!?" Jana muttered in shock, gripping him by the shoulder. "Are you out of your goddamn mind, Justin!? You've been passing around that they're going to attack Central, and you haven't said anything!?" Oh man, this was worse than she thought. Much worse. All they had was an accusation, that wasn't enough. Not for the Mandate, and not enough for people to assume someone like him would do it.

"Look, in case you hadn't noticed...The DC isn't exactly well liked in any of the schools. I honestly didn't care one way or the other how the protest would go because all I cared about was the payment. Nicholas needed someone to go around in his stead to each academy and recruit others for his cause, not to mention stay in touch without leaving much of a trace of evidence behind. So I happily took the job." Justin sighed and then scratched the back of his head.

"He definitely doesn't trust me now, so it's not like I can talk to him and wear a wire or something. Not sure how I can prove this to you, but I wouldn't lie about something this."

She stared at him seriously for a moment, pulling her hand away with a faint sigh. "I always have to like the stupid ones," she mumbled. "...I don't have any reason to not trust you, more to the point...I owe you for dragging me out of that mess. So for now, I'll trust you." she said faintly. "But I need some proof, handsome. We can't arrest people without some decent proof. Do you know anyone who would know more about this, anyone at all?"

"Umm, yeah. I know the people after me know more about it. If you want I can throw myself out there as bait, and then when they all come to murder me you can make some arrests. But I suppose even if you do that, you won't have any proof still, huh. Not unless they are willing to actually talk." Justin thought about it for a moment, trying to think of something so he could help out his girlfriend. Anything at all. "Wait, I know where they meet up...and how often they do, and what time. If you umm..want to spy or something..." Would that work? Well, if it didn't, he'd just have to think of something else.

"Spying is for nerds and cowards," Jana smirked, arm around his neck to tug him close. At least he was face first into a breast, so that made up for the fact that it felt like she could snap his neck with a flex. "We're going to say hi, who are they, and where?"

"Damn it, my spine doesn't bend that way!" Justin protested as she dragged him down into her chest, though once his cheek met with those wonderful breasts he went quiet real fast. She really knew how to shut him up. And manipulate him...guess he was finally getting a dose of his own treatment.

"Umm...you're not serious right? There can be anywhere from four to seven of them depending on who can make it. A few of them know Komoku, the rest are from Red and Green. They all work relatively close to the ones who are directly under Nicholas Trevlyn. Least from what I've heard..."

"I am absolutely serious," Jana grinned. "Besides, chances are...they're looking for me anyway. Might as well make it easy for both of us. Don't worry, I'll protect you. You're too cute to get bruised. Where do they usually hang out?"

Justin sighed, realizing that this woman would probably be the death of him. That, or she'd be his savior...the first of which was slight worse than the second. He would probably have to learn how to fight or something so he wouldn't rely on his girl all the time to protect him. "At the Karaoke bar on Peach Garden Street. Maybe you should at least call Mei to meet you there? If you really plan on just blatantly starting a fight..."

"What, are you sayin I'm not capable of diplomacy?" she said dryly, arm tightening just a fraction as her red eyes narrowed. "That what you're saying, you ass? I am completely capable of talking things out!" Honestly! The nerve! She was great at talking to people!
