School Rumble (Broom and I)

Mei frowned at that before she ran her fingers through his messy hair. "He was worried about you. Masami too, she was just as upset as I was seeing you like that. I know you hate him for abandoning you, but I know he regrets it. I saw it every time he came here, the way his eyes were when he stood at your bedside."

Komoku's eyes closed faintly at her touch, leaning into it subconsciously. How was he supposed to care that his Dad cared when he never shown it before? Or his Mom, or...fuck, his parents in general? Why was he supposed to give a shit now?

"...Fine," Komoku muttered, complacent like a dog who was too sour to fight his leash. "Ask your Dad then, I don't want to be here any longer than I should be."

"Sure. I'll see if he's around here somewhere..." Mei said as she slowly got up. She didn't really want to leave his side honestly, but a knock on the door let her stay where she was. Before she could tell the person on the other side to come in, the door was already open. In came Alaric Wolfe, dressed in usual business attire instead of scrubs. He took a glance over at Komoku and gave him a half smile, though his gaze immediately turned towards his daughter.

"I came as soon as I could. The nurses called me as soon as they realized Komoku was awake again." His gaze shifted back to Komoku, and he gave him a small smile. "I'm glad to see that you've regained consciousness after all that time under. We didn't know what to expect. How are you feeling?"

He was glad he regained consciousness because now he didn't feel guilty anymore. For weeks he thought he had helped Mina Kishi with her ultimate revenge, and that Komoku's death would be on his hands if he didn't save him.

"Irritated, sore, my ribs hurt." Komoku grunted. "Can I leave now?" He didn't buy this shit for a minute, he could smile all he wanted, but he knew how he really felt about him.

"I don't really recommend it..." Alaric began before glancing at his daughter. she was giving him a look, a look she had perfected since she was a young child. He could only sigh at that, but if she thought he'd be okay at home, he wouldn't doubt her. "But, you've gotten through the worst of it. You're going to need some therapy for everything to be like it was before. But I can recommend some specialists later if there's a need for that. I'll get started on your paperwork." It was pretty obvious that he didn't trust him, and it was obvious why. He left quickly, not even speaking a word to Mei. It was too uncomfortable.

"Well...at least he let you go." Mei said with a small smile. She wondered how long it would be for Komoku to fully recover. From normal injuries it wasn't too long before he was back on his feet, but this was serious.

"Hmph," Komoku muttered. "So why is he so buddy buddy with me now, is that his doctor senses coming up? Pretty sure he still wanted me in a hospital for touching his precious daughter." Was he missing something? Did the world turn on it's ass? What the hell was going on with that?

"Maybe because he saw how upset I was without you. I'm not sure, honestly." Mei admitted with a shrug of her shoulders before taking a seat next to him again. "He seems to feel bad for our last encounter and he wants to make it up to me. I guess he needs to be nice to you in order to do that."

"Tch," Komoku muttered. "If he thinks I'm going to be any different around him, he can fuck right off." he grumbled, hand subconsciously drifting to his side. The only thing that he could really, truly remember was that first impact. It was like a miniature sonic boom in his guts, and then just pain, unrelenting pain. He had no defense against it, who the fuck was that girl?

Mei's eyes followed his hand and she grimaced. "I never really found out who she was, you know. I tried to. I wanted to ask her who put her up to putting you in the hospital. It was clear that she was there for a purpose, she dropped out after she..you know." Mei sighed softly. It was probably frustrating to him more than her, but just thinking about that woman upset her.

"Yeah," Komoku snorted in irritation. "I'm not surprised, that's how my luck seems to be," he muttered. "So, did you find anything else out? Where she came from, anything?" Or was he just supposed to think there was a boogeyman out there destined to fuck his confidence over every time he wanted to punch something?

"Nothing solid to be honest. Nothing I had time to pursue," She admitted with a sigh. "It's clear that she's not from around here, there were no records on her. Nothing. It wasn't like I could get the law involved either, what she did was unfortunately well within the law being that it was a tournament and everything. I knew it wasn't a good idea..."

"Well, more important things to worry about anyway," Komoku grunted faintly. "So, whose running things since Jana isn't around? Who do we have to stop Nick from doing whatever bullshit he's doing?"

"Damien is officially Jana's substitute. We have Kuki, and Kokoro...and...hmm." Mei trailed off with a frown. "I can always ask for Eva and Aiden to help, I suppose. I'm sure Masami would help too, right?" She had more people in DC of course, but none of them had really stuck out combat wise. Sure, they did well against regular students. But Nicholas and the people he associated with were on a different level.

"Hm," Komoku said faintly. "I know someone who could help, actually...could you hand me my phone?" he grinned. "They'll be a big help, I'm sure, I think he'll get a kick out of me asking to help."

"Oh.." Mei frowned at that, wondering who in the world Komoku had in mind to help. He hadn't really associated with much of his old crowd ever since agreeing to help with DC. Nontheless, she awkwardly reached in the drawer beside her bed where his personal belongings were and turned on his phone. Surprisingly, it still had a charge. "May I ask who you're calling?"

"Daichi," Komoku said after a moment, looking perhaps, a tiny bit bashful, for Komoku, of course. "I uh...I learned a few Japanese phrases, he's learning a little bit of English, but he can read English well enough, maybe I should text him instead, actually." he murmured, thumb ghosting over the buttons. He didn't know why she was looking at him so weird, what, he couldn't make friends on his own now? Did she need to screen everyone for admission?

Daichi. That was a name she hadn't heard in quite some time. He along with Kent had served their light punishments and had been on good behavior ever since. It was strange that Komoku still had contact with him after all this time...then again, he probably just kept in touch for another good fight. "Oh. I wasn't expecting him at all. Do you think he could get Kent to help us too?"

"Maybe," Komoku mused. "Suppose it couldn't hurt to ask, huh? I'd rather have more people than less at this point, god knows what that fucking whackjob is planning," he muttered. "He's lucky I'm out of commission, or else I'd break him in half." He had the balls to threaten his family? He had already gone too far anyway, but that was just enough to piss him off.

"We'll take care of him." Mei said with a smile, rubbing his back. "Even if Kent doesn't help, I'll find a way to thwart whatever he's planning. He's smart, but I can outplay him." She wanted to believe that, especially since he out played her last time. Now she had an idea of the way he was, and how he thought. She wouldn't be outsmarted again.

"Pft, Daichi's all you need," Komoku mumbled. "That fucker hits as hard as I do, and he's probably better at it now...now then, what's this about Kitten?" he sighed, closing his phone. He didn't ask Daichi, he told him. Big difference. "What's going on exactly?"

"I'm not too sure, to be honest. Yoko, that other strange girl that entered the tournament, apparently she took her. Before Kitten disappeared, she told the others that it was possible Yoko knew her, and that she was from another country. Volaysia. Dujae is certain Sejae went after her." She was worried. Not just anyone could defeat Kitten, that's why she sent Jana to help the others. Yoko was dangerous.

Komoku grimaced faintly, fingers running through his hair with a long sigh. "Sejae went off on his own, huh? Fuck me," he muttered. "And they took Kitten? That's gonna be ugly, real fast...I probably should have told you that about Sejae, but...you know, I never really thought much about it, not a whole lot really...gets him how he is sometimes."

"I don't really know that much about him, other than he's more patient than Dujae." Mei admitted, which honestly she felt bad about. She had known Sejae and Dujae as long as she knew Komoku, really. They were just as much of friends with her as anyone else. Maybe being around this was just too awkward, the way they didn't wear shirts. She didn't like that, she didn't like liking how other men looked other than Komoku.

"Yeah, well," Komoku muttered. "Dujae and Sejae grew up with me, but Sejae? That boy has some issues, he takes his violence like a doctor takes to surgery, which, I know, pot calling the kettle black and all," he said, carefully laying back with a sigh. "His parents were...not good for them," he murmured, rubbing his face. "We...probably put more kids than we needed to in hospitals back then, but it was just survival, you know? Sejae was better at it than I was, he could just...do it, like breathing, no hesitation, all he needs is a reason," he mumbled. "You don't fuck with Sejae, Mei, people were always scared of me, but they should have been more afraid of him."

"Well, I hope Dujae finds him before he finds Yoko. We don't know anything about her, or Volaysia. I know he's smart, but he's just one guy. He needs help, regardless of how scary his is. Unless you think he'd find the resources in some other country to be able to rescue Kitten himself?" Mei asked curiously. She honestly wasn't surprised, she always sensed that there was something more to Sejae than she knew.
