The Hunt (tatcon and Rayn_Chain)

Considering what he said, she couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed, hoping that what they said about his type were not true and wanting to prove it wrong, but every attempt she had tried to make she failed or he shot her hopes down. “A blanket is not going to be much protection first off, and there are may who dislike my kind without reason, I know that from experience, but you unlike the morons who hate us don’t hate us unless given a reason. It may be a thought process but you’re also acting on other things too.” She hissed. Hugging the blanket over her she looked away from him and to the window again.

Watching him unclip the assortment of weapons and such, she wondered why he did that, but didn’t ask, instead she leaned her head against the wall and closed her eyes slowly to relax and regain a little energy if she could. Thoughts about this man ran though her head, wondering about him as well as other things, unable to think of anything to talk about or ask him already asking her questions on the way there. “If one of these men hurt you in some way by chance…” she began to ask looking at him then dropping her gaze to her skirt, “…Would you really take it out on me as you had said?” She asked, wanting to know if it was a bluff or if he really would.

"No." He answered quite plainly, no hesitation, no pause, just a straight answer to her question. "And many do hate you without reason, this is quite true. Suppose that is why I am a hunter of the highest caliber. I will keep you alive as long as there is reason to, which is to return you to your master. Should he fail to uphold his end of the bargain, then he will die. Now you get yourself into one of these side rooms, and get some sleep. The night will pass much more fascinatingly if you do so." He ordered, standing up to give himself a stretch, looking to retain his mobility as they moved into the dangerous after dark hours.

"And I will know if you try to escape. And then my threats will become very real, and those other hunters will find you...and do far worse as a group than I could do on my own." He added, the dark edge back to his voice as he looked at her from the corner of his pitch black eye.

Getting up after listening she sighed, “You really are as other say you are, I was hoping they would be wrong, but fine, I’m not going to argue.” She said, getting up and headed into the side room to get some rest, her mind not being silent, but she found a spot to rest at and sat down to get some rest laying out on what she could and slowly fell asleep, looking out the window that was there.

Within a few minutes she had fallen asleep, but a light one, making sure to keep her keen ears attentive to anything that would seem out of the ordinary. She wondered if he was going to get any sleep or if he even needed it, but her mind began wandering about other things, fear of going back to the mansion, and seeing as how this man would have no need for a slave it would have been pointless to ask him to change his mind and keep her for himself, but she didn’t want to meet her fate once returned to the mansion knowing as soon as she walked though the door she would find herself in a world of hurt.

Something had to be said about the predictability of people, especially contract killers who believe in their own pomp and ceremony. As the darkest part of night had hit, two of the more normal hunters had crashed through her window, the first moving over to the door to try and prevent her escape, while the other would take a position by the window to make sure she wouldn't try and get out that way as well. Trailing rather vicious looking automatic weapons on her, the two brutish men chuckled at the luck at having found her.

"We're gonna make a mess out of you and the man who found you little cat bitch." The one blocking the window would say, assuming she had not made an escape out of the room.

Hearing the men come through the window she let out a yelp of fear while stepping back from them. But she held still as soon as she saw the weapons, biting her lip as she looked from one to the other. Hearing there threat she let out a low growl, not liking the way this was going, but she remained calm while looking to the door, making sure she was not near it incase the other man barged in, not wanting to get in the way, but she moved back to where the bed was sitting down while her crystal blue eyes looked at him.

“You really are not smart are you? Instead of thinking with your dicks you should have thought with your other head and gotten rid of the man in the other room, but that is all on you.” She said, remaining calm and relaxed on the outside while inside she was frightened and unease.

"Haven't you looked out in the other room recently doll? He's gone, left you here all alone." One said, before reaching forward and grabbing her hair firmly before opening the door and dragging her out into the main room. If she looked around, she would notice that indeed Soren had gone, his chair unoccupied, his weapons no longer on the windowsill. The two men would take the effort of dragging her out the front door (how thoughtful) and took her out into the rainy night.

If she looked around, it would seem the entire place was deserted, no sign of Soren, just the shadows of four other hunters standing at the top of the cliff where her and Soren had come down earlier. At least it looked that way until one of the two hunters with her cried, "What the fuck? Their feet aren't touching the ground...they're..they've been hung by the trees..." The man trailed off, and his grip on her hair released.

Looking around the house she had not seen him and felt her heart sink in her chest not liking the way this was paying out, she wondered if he had decided to go back for something or just decided that this job wasn’t worth the hassle. But as she was dragged out into the rain she looked to the people near the tree, or so it looked, fearful that what Soren had said would come true, having all of these men taking advantage of her in every way possible. But when she heard the cry from the hunter she realized that the men were in fact dead, most likely caused by Soren, but not that it mattered to her. Pulling away she stepped away from the hunters, backing away from them as she looked around, hoping to see the hunter some where before they got a chance to harm her. She could defend herself, but against guns was futile since she didn’t exactly wish to die.

As she backed away, a hand would come out from around the building she was moving towards, and covered her mouth, pulling her sharply towards whoever it was. Predictably enough, it was Soren. He would pull her tightly into his arms, and hold her, letting his head look over her shoulder and around the corner at the still rather stunned men. He'd give a soft whisper into her large ear, a soft, "Are you okay?" before returning his attention to the men.

There was a fire in his eyes that had not been present when they last spoke, and if you felt you were the target, they could easily become overly intimidating. He would quietly place one of those large automatic firearms into her lap, as his arm retreated, and he stood up slowly, hand reaching to his lower back to grab the other blade from it's sheath. It shone with a faint blue shimmer, though was still definitely a metal of some kind. Stepping out into the rain, the closest hunter wouldn't know what had happened by the time the titanium blade had slid into the back of his skull like butter, and came out between his eyelids. Before the body would fall, Soren would have jumped to the second hunter, and knocked him into his stomach, face landing right in a puddle.

"Did they teach you about conductivity at that meathead school of yours, you little subhuman parasite?" Soren said, voice thick with anger, and a type of happiness. "First, you and your type massacre this village, killing all of the animals who called this place home, and had a right as much as any animal to live in peace. That insults the very fabric of the mercenary code of honour...and for that..." he said, rubbing the man's head around in the puddle a little more as his other hand slid the taser from his hip, "...I'll give you the original capitol punishment." Held in the air slightly he would allow the electricity to arch between the prongs before Soren quickly stood up to remove his contact with the hunters body, and jammed the hundred and fifty thousand watt weapon into the water, allowing the power to course into the liquid, and into the man's mouth, and his entire body.

As she stepped back someone grabbed her, flinching and closing her eyes tightly while her ears fell back on her head. But as she heard the voice she looked up, bringing a hand to the one over her mouth nodding before moving out of his way so he could look around the corner at the two men. She was surprised, and a little frightened, he had done all of this and she heard nothing while she slept.

Watching the display from where she was at she looked to the gun he had handed her but shook her head, she didn’t really know how to use one, and to try and shoot him would not be in her, even if that might have been her freedom getting even further out of her grasp, he had saved her from the men and couldn’t do such a thing. Flinching she watched him make little work of the first man, the blade cutting through him as thought it were nothing and then he was to the second man.

Hearing what Soren said Dahlia smiled a little, not liking the word animal, but she felt glad that this man was getting a proper punishment from him. Hearing his reason she listened to him mention some code and reminded herself to ask him about it later, and what it was. Once the taser was removed her eyes widened at the sight already know what he was going to do with it, but she wanted to watch and as he put the taser to the water the other hunter’s body shook and twitched while trying to scream. Remaining where she was she watched and waited for Soren to come back over, her whole body soaked to the bone, and her clothes now sticking to her skin unintentionally, she wanted to thank him as soon as he got back, for protecting her, and punishing that hunter who had hurt and killed the people of the village.

One the last hunter had stopped twitching, Soren would slowly stand a put the taser back into its proper holder, and his blade into its sheath, drawing in a few deep breaths before turning around and facing her. His enhanced eye looked her over for any damage, scars, pain..but all he found was a little girl surrounded by fear and nerves, if her body signs were showing anything. Stepping back over to her he would grab the weapon from her lap, and sling it over his shoulder before grabbing her by the arms and bringing her in close as he walked back towards their temporary hiding hole. Once back inside, he would place the little cat girl down in the corner before going into her room and fetching the blanket, closing the door behind him as he moved to sit down on the ground beside her. Shaking the blanket a few times, he would again wrap it around her shoulders, before checking the weapon to make sure it was functional, and sitting it beside him.

'Their actions I had not expected." He said quite plainly, looking out into the rainy midnight sky before dropping his hazel and mutated eyes back to her. "I apologize. This was not part of the abuse I'd want to put you through." He said more quietly, taking out his blade to wash the blood and bits off of it.

Watching him she stayed where she was and allowed him to take the weapon before being pulled to him, a little surprised, but not taking it any other way than he wanted her to keep safe and warm. Entering the place she had been dragged from she sat in the corner and watched him, bringing her blanket back out and wrapping it around her. Giving a thankful smile she curled up into a ball while listening to his explanation, shaking her head she moved a little to get a better position. “Please don’t worry about it, I don’t think of that as abuse, they didn’t hurt me, and you protected me, I don’t consider that abuse, and I should know what that it.” She said with a smile to him, assuring him she was alright.

Standing up she walked to a window and looked out wondering if there were others then looked over her shoulder at him, “Where did you go? I was worried that you had left me, to be honest.” She admitted.

She might hear a bit of ruffling behind her as he pulled a small canvas bag from one of his cargo pockets, and opened it up. Inside there was a small collection of apples, probably four or five, and he slowly held the bag up to her. "Despite the fact I have spent my entire existence thinking of you and your kind as lesser creatures, you're still a living organism, and you need food." He said, looking up at her gazing out the window. He would hold the bag there until such a point as she took one of the apples, though he would dig one out himself and start eating it regardless.

Seeing the bag she reached in and took an apple, “Thank you,” Was all she said before slowly eating it. Her attention on the outside as she heard him speaking, shrugging her shoulders she didn’t bother arguing, he had his own thoughts. She sat down comfortably on the ground eating until it was gone and she was content. She couldn’t sleep any longer so she stayed awake and alert, her tail was wrapped around her leg, while her ears remained flat against her head, almost hiding them in her long red hair, she almost looked human if it weren’t for her icy blue eyes.

Soren, for his part, remained quite quiet as he ate two of the apples before placing them on the floor between her and him for the longest while before he stood up, and walked around the room, again a result of him not wanting to get too comfortable or stiff. He wouldn't be much good to either of them if he fell asleep, or was too gummed up to move, so he kept mobile. But a curious thought stirred in his head as he looked at her for a long moment, before stepping towards the window, the gun sitting against his chest.

"When I was very young...before I was taken off to camp, my parents had bought me a little cat as a pet. It was the first animal I had ever owned that didn't fill me with this strange desire to kill it...again, something they say that is part of my condition. But more relevantly, I remember that Tiara, my cat, really liked being scratched behind her ears. What would that do for a half breed such as yourself?" He asked, more apparently out of curiousity than a desire to actually do so for her, but this night was turning out more strange that he had anticipated.

Watching him she couldn’t help but smirk at the question, attempting not to blush. “Well a half breed such as myself is different from others, some it hurts, others it is like a turn on spot, or the normal reaction would be purring which is what I happen to do.” She explained, a little embarrassed since the second part was true as well for her, but she wouldn’t admit it. Tilting her head to the side, her ears perked up a little at the thought wondering if he actually wanted to try petting her ears, something that didn’t really bother her as long as she controlled herself and kept herself from heating up or getting aroused.

Looking up at him she remained where she sat on the floor, “Would you like to try? I promise I won’t over react or anything, but if you would like to see first hand you may.” She offered.

Soren would just look at her for a long moment, obviously contemplating the thought as his face shifted from one of absolutely neutrality to a soft face of curiousity. He would turn towards her, standing there in an apparent daze of confusion before taking a few steps to end up in front of her. Swinging the gun around to sit on his back, he would slowly extend his right hand towards the area behind her feline ears, bringing nails down gently to give incredibly soft scritches to the area, much like he had on his cat so many years ago.

The emotions he felt at the moment he touched her were quite conflicting, and was starting to move against his ingrained programming concerning her kind. Instead of the stupid, useless half-breed rejects everyone had made great efforts to paint them as, Soren was finding, with this one especially, that they were just like his beloved Tiara...except they could talk, express, and be attractive, and that final thought made Soren tilt his head a bit as he contemplated the implications of thinking something like that about a creature who was half human, half cat. Instead of vocalizing, he just kept scratching behind her ear lightly.

Watching him closely she knew it was probably difficult for him to decide but she would not have been offended if he said no, but when he knelt down in front of her she lowered her head a little as his hand came forward, she tried not to flinch as he touched her ears, not use to a gentle touch, since her master once angered would grasp her by the edge of her ear, but his touch was soft and feeling him scratching she leaned her head a little into his hand, his nails gentle scratching her ear, and within seconds she began purring softly, her mouth shut, but the purring in her chest was easily heard by the human ear.

Seeing a different look from him she relaxed a little more seeing that he was being rather gentle to her, but she was having a difficult time not thinking of this as arousal but as just attention and being touched, letting out a soft sigh she blushed brightly looking to the floor hoping he would not notice her reddening cheeks as her ears twitched in his hand a little.

He would notice her reddening cheeks, and he found it amusing (something else that was new to him), but soon he would stop, running fingers through her hair as he brought his hand back towards his side, and he turned to walk away once more, heading back over to his window for a short moment. He had to process the series of feelings and emotions that passed through his head in that short moment, and her interesting, and rather lovely emotional return.

Of course from an outsiders perspective, he was just standing there, looking out into the rain soaked world in deep contemplation, the cold composure returned to his face as he worked behind the frozen exterior. He would let a single sigh creep past his lips. "I suppose the world can be quite easily wrong." The words passed his lips as a hushed vocalization of his thought process.

Feeling his hand run through her hair she looked up at him wondering why he was stopping, but didn’t say anything, instead she wondered what he was thinking since this was very different from petting a cat, especially since she was a half breed and he was suppose to hate her kind. She remained where she was her head tilting to the side as she watched him.

But when she heard his words she couldn’t help but smile nodding her head, “I’m glad you think so.” She said softly as she looked up at him from the floor. “But you don’t have to stop if you don’t want to, it doesn’t bother me, and it’s a nicer feeling than my ears being pulled on.” She added assuring him that she didn’t mind his touch at all.

Looking out at the rain she wondered how long it would last and if they would have to walk through the rain when the morning came or if they would wait in there until it stopped. Leaning against the wall once more she kept her eyes on him for a few more seconds before dropping them to the floor.

"Then I suppose that it should be something you shouldn't get use to. Despite this I still have to return you to your proper master, no matter my potential feelings on the subject. Such is our lots in life which we must accept." There was an element of a lie to the words he was saying. She had said earlier that her master would probably make a bid to kill him when they returned the following day. This he would not allow to happen, and he suspected that should her master make this particularly stupid move, then Soren would have no choice but to take his slave as recompense.

He let out a long, drawn out sigh as he looked up at the skies, nanomachines measuring water levels and barometric pressure to see if the rain would be stopping any time soon. It might let up before daylight, but they would have a damp, miserable day to walk back to her home in. Fitting, he thought, all great battles were drawn out in the rain.

Nodding she leaned her head on the wall, obviously upset by his decision, but she understood what he was talking about, but she wondered if her master did try to have him killed if he would simply kill her master, knowing that was far from now. But she wondered who else the man would have sent after the two, suspecting that those casual hunters were just the beginning, and he might have even hired someone of the same caliber as Soren, which made her a little frightened for her safety.

Watching the rain she knew it was going to be a long miserable walk back to the mansion. Pulling her legs into her body and leaning her head on her knees as she slowly dozed off for a little while until he felt that he wanted to leave. She remembered her past and realized that none of it was really ever nice, or happy and being out of the mansion made her so happy until she thought about that place again.

Hearing his sigh she looked up at him again and looked for some reason at his eyes, “Why is one of your eyes like that? I had been meaning to ask, but with the excitement I forgot.” She asked softly while waiting for an answer.

"Genetic engineering and the implementation of molecular sized computer systems designed to assist me in tracking and information collection." He prattled off like a trained student, having had small information like that drilled into his head since he was a child and subjected to the experimentation. "The rain will stop by the time we set out in the morning. Barometric pressure is rising, and humidity levels are starting to drop. That's what's wrong with my eye." He replied, looking away from the sky for a moment to look at her again, and the smallest of amused little grins had passed over his lips.

"Does your master have much in the way of personal bodyguards?" He asked, now trying to measure the situation that they would probably find themselves in come late tomorrow morning. He knew he would be fine, unless her master would make the effort of hiring someone from a guild not unlike his own. Fortunately, he knew he wouldn't have to face off against his fraternity..it was part of the code. Defy the code, the nanomachines would make short work of the hunter's brain.

Hearing his explanation only interested her more as she listened to him, “Does it hurt? And are you able to return your eye to normal or are they stuck in there?” She asked curiously as she looked up at him, now hearing his comment about the weather sighing, “That’s fine, I prefer to think that the rain is a mystery and you really don’t know when it will start or stop.” She said softly looking at her fingers as she thought to herself all of his body guards that he had, already having a few off hand, but she had no doubt he had hired more since she had run off.

“Well normally there are only 4 with him but when this type of thing happens he usually more than doubles it as well as hiring on security to walk around the mansion, every 15 to 20 minutes two people at a time do there rounds, but he will defiantly double that as well as put look outs around the mansion. He is a coward like that and you wouldn’t be the first that he has done this to before, but you are the first from a fraternity he has hired, then again I know the most about him and the house so he wouldn’t want anything I know getting out.” She explained trying to tally all the people he would higher, “So I would suspect about 15 people will be on duty at the time, he has no problem spending money if it means protecting his hide.” She said, a little surprised that she knew just about everything about the mansion.

When she asked whether or not the machines hurt, he just shook his head a bit, and kept shaking it as her second question came along. "My eye will always been like this, it's unavoidable. And the nanomachines will be stuck there until the day I day or I make a mistake and they kill me." He answered, looking around a bit outside before turning to face her more properly as he listened to her detailing her master's guards.

The fact that she knew so much about her masters defences was not actually that surprising to him, he had learned that small details such as that were always absorbed by a pet, unless they had been locked up and a dungeon for their entire life. So he would listen, very attentive, and once she was done he felt the urge to give her a small reward. Her knowledge would be of a great assistance in her master was the coward she painted, so it was will a little less anxiety that he would come before her again, and give her a few more gently scratches behind her ear.

"Good girl. You'd make a good spy."

The thought about his eye made her worried, and she gave a small sigh while looking at him, “So you can’t get out of it even if you wanted to?” She asked, wondering a lot of things, but when his hand began touching her ear she couldn’t help but smile and purr rather happily leaning her head into his hand again enjoying his touch. Hearing his praise she looked up at him, “Thank you, but it’s just things I notice, nothing really unless given to someone like you.” She pointed out. “And I don’t think I could be something like that, I have grown up with this life, if I did get set free I would either be caught and enslaved again, or work as a maid or something like that.” But she wasn’t sure if she would be free or where she could go and live without having to worry about such things.
