Why do you care?
So, the only up-to-date console I currently own is the Wii U and it's something I'm ridiculously glad to own...and for multiple reasons. ANYWAY....... the Wii U is going to be launching some really awesome stuff in the near future and it has me pretty pumped.

I wondered what others thought who might have the Wii U as well (and even those who don't because, well, we're all gamers and have a love and appreciation for what's out there regardless of console/platform).

That said, some of the upcoming stuff I'm pretty excited about:

I got my Wii U late on, but Mario Kart is so much fun, I can't wait till they have Link as a character in Mario DLC in November I think. Smash Brothers looks amazing. Then also the next Zelda looks amazing the one they showed at E3, as well as the next Xenoblade Chronicles, Mario Maker, Yarn Yoshi and Fire Emblem x Shin Megumi. I am not a bit Bayonetta person but Bayonetta 2 looks pretty legit. Plus there is Shovel Knight and Mario Kart 8 which are considered wildly to be two of the best games of the year so far. I think it is finally starting to hit is stride as a console which is good.

I think what I'm loving about the Wii U is that it's not just a kiddie console--something Nintendo has sort of had a stigma for in the past. This time around they seem to be expanding their horizons a lot more and are catering to a much wider audience. And I'm loving that they are allowing those of us who enjoyed older games the chance to get those on the eShop and that they are doing what they can to introduce more and more into that at very reasonable prices. Personally, I think that is wonderful. However, I digress some. Anyway, I think the new and innovative games they are bringing in are just...no words really. I think they are creative and fun and just so engaging. You have games for kids, games for adults and games that cross over into both and/or are for family. It really makes the console. And the games they are choosing to gun for as far as what they bring forward seem to be pretty smart. All in all, it just makes me glad I chose it as my console since I'd only been able to choose one. Of course, I've been buying accessories for it... like portals and whatevers. But I think that kind of adds to the fun and charm of this particular console.

Anyway, as I mentioned above, my most anticipated games right now are Super Smash Bros. Wii U (which I'm sooo excited for since not only will it be bringing one of the most awesome games to the Wii U, but it will be doing so with a feature that has become a favorite of mine just because it's fun and nifty and that is something known as IC or integrated character...this will be occurring using the Amiibo and, oh man, it just looks FANTASTIC!), Hyrule Warriors (and now I ask you, does it get any sweeter when you merge Dynasty Warriors with Legend of Zelda? Of course not!!! You just get the fucking awesome, lol... the game play looks so beyond amazing that I'm pretty much dreaming of this game every time I zone out) and the Disney Infinity 2.0 (or also known as the Disney Ininity Marvel/Upgrades which will include ALL the Avengers, a bunch of Spider-Man characters, Guardians of the Galaxy and a then slew of new Disney characters for the toy box...not sure if these characters will be able to cross over with each other yet--I sooo hope they will--but even if they can't, I'll still love it because the original has been amazing and from what I can tell of the 2.0 it will be as well...the Avengers world looks AMAZING! Also, there's rumor that they'll eventually be adding in the Star Wars characters too...just GUH!).

Yeah Hyrule Warriors looks rather good, I hope that they also get DQ Warriors too, though not sure what that game is coming out for

The games I mentions here are the trailers for them

Xenoblade Chronicles X- the first one was epic so I figure this one will be amazing as well
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hg2PTVi7fl8

Mario Maker-Custom Mario, it is suppose to be easy to make levels too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLS458ekSEI

Yarn Yoshi- it is so adorable looking
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vR8EHatIIE

Shin Megumi x Fire Emblem- cause both are interesting series very different which should make the mix different
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OK5-EIzDtKo

and lastly Captain Toad- another creative game which looks very fun
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m91qkP5ZaN8

Those look pretty amazing.... especially Xenoblade Chronicles X. I'll definitely be looking out for that one. It looks right up my alley as far as game types go *nods*. XD

God... I really want to get a Wii-U... Hyrule Warriors looks amazing... and I am dying to play Mario Kart 8. And there's the DLC for that. It's about damn time a Zelda character appeared in a Mario game. And he's most likely going tk be my regular character if I get it. And Super Smash Bros... I want both versions of it. :)

Oh I forgot this one which is the one that I am most exited for Zelda for Wii U. Xenoblade Chronicles was a great game and jrpg for wii, and the main characters is in the new smash bros.

@Silverknight
Oh, yeah. I'm excited for Zelda U too. The teaser trailer looked very interesting.

Any thing Zelda = <3. It's one of the reasons why I'm highly anticipating Hyrule Warriors as well. So yes... the Zelda U will be awesome. I'm sure of it. Can't wait! XD

I'm pretty stoked for Super Mario Party 10, which will take full advantage of the Wii U's wifi connectivity. It is also the first game in the long-standing series to allow for a fifth player mode, in which our players play as your standard allotment of characters while the fifth player controls Bowser himself and takes on the role as the NPC villain by controlling the stage hazards within the many mini-games to try and make the PCs loose.

I'm also looking forward to Hyrule Warriors and SSB4, of course, but I am most excited for Mario Party. Some friends and I already have an all-night launch-day LAN party planned.

I don't have Disney Infinity, personally, but I do want to get it when I have the spare money. My damn roommate has been watching Frozen on loop and I am kinda addicted to it now. I'll get Infinity when I can afford the base system as well as the Elsa and Anna figures. Those two are so adorable both as stand-alone characters and as an imaginary couple. Screw Kristoff; Elsanna all day, every day

So yeah...got a couple new ones this holiday season. Namely, Disney Infinity 2.0 (and a nice slew of ICs to go with) and Lego City Undercover (think GTA, only Lego and, well, PG rating...haha!). So far, both games are fantastic! Lego City Undercover takes a bit to load in between each scene, but it's not too terrible and is worth the wait time given what you can do and all. Infinity 2.0 is fucking AMAZING! Sooo much better than 1.0!!! The Marvel stuff is just GREAT...at least, I can say this with certainty where the Avengers prebuilt world is concerned anyway. I can also say that the Merida's Brave Forest Siege is pretty fucking sweet too. I've played a nice cast of characters thus far--Iron Man, Thor, Merida, Maleficent (and still have Blackwidow and Captain American to play from my newly acquired stash) and look forward to acquiring more. I'm already making a list in my head as to which ones I want. >.< What's also nice is that you can play all the 1.0 characters in the 2.0 Toy Box. So, none of the older ICs are truly lost on the new portal system. Same thing goes for the power disks. And honestly, having to use the older portal system for the older prebuilt worlds and what not isn't a big deal. After all, it doesn't take much to switch things out and since you can only use certain characters in a prebuilt world anyway....yeah, you get the picture. : ) So yep, much happiness here. *nods*

I am not a Disney Infinity person, but I do have to admit I do have a Amiibo, they are somewhat similar I think, except the Amiibo is just a add on for smash and a couple of wii u games. Still it is impossible now to find some of them, and they do look pretty cool, or some do.

I have heaps of ICs for the 1.0, but not all of them and there are some that you just cannot find in stores any longer...I'm looking at you, Syndrome! <.< But, I do have so very many. And now I'm starting up the collection for the 2.0. I've got a good start thanks to the holidays, so I'm ahead of the game there (no pun intended). So, I'm in pretty good shape to get the most coveted, I'm suspecting. Which will probably be more of the Marvel related ones. Word is that there will eventually a Star Wars one. OH MAN, sooo cannot wait for that! I'm guessing that they'll probably hold off and do a 3.0 or some such for that. They'd be freakin' dumb not to wait and do it that way. But whenever, however, I'd go for it. Honestly, I love the concept. The missions are actually really fun and the game play is great and quite repeatable. I love that you can play solo or with others (even your kids, if you have them) and the sim building is just phenomenal. You really can do anything you want with it. And then, when you're bored...start all over and do something totally different.

Ok....for the love of Wii U.......

So, my husband and son were fighting over the game pad last night and it resulted in the thing dropping and....*sigh*.....the screen got busted. It turns on all right, you can hear the sound perfectly and all that jazz. BUT, because of the bunch of freakin' cracks those BIG BABIES put in the screen, it's rendered useless. This means that we pretty much cannot play. At all.

I am pissed. Yeah, pissed.

You've no idea. X_X

Anyway, I was wondering as to the BEST (and possibly cheapest) way to go about getting the thing repaired. Sadly, the game pad is like the ONE accessory you can't just up and replace all that easily. It's not like the other accessories where you can go out to the store and just pick up a new one. I've done a little online searching and see that Nintendo will indeed repair and/or replace it, but they do not give you prices. Searching a bit more, I'm seeing what appears to be a range--the low end has been $80 and the high end has been $150. So, I'm assuming that this might have to do with level of damage (ie, what needs replacing or if the entire thing needs to be replaced). However, I'm not entirely sure. I suppose the other option is to fix it myself. BUT, I'm a little leery of that. I've never tried taking apart anything Wii U before, though I have seen inside a Wii and the wiring and what not in one of those was hella ridiculous. By that, I mean that the wires were ridiculously thin and easily severed if you just picked the thing up incorrectly. So, I'd hate to try and then fuck it up all because I was clumsy. Anyway, I am assuming that the only part that needs to be fixed is the actual screen inside the game pad since I'm hearing sound and the thing lights up. But, not being an expert on the electronics of the system, this is just a best guess. Anyhow, given things...I wondered if anyone had to ever deal with repairing/replacing a Wii U game pad OR if they have any clue as to the best way to go with doing so (maybe you've a friend that's gone through this).

Thanks. Any help is appreciated.

Honestly, this is your cheapest option. Pawn it off on the hubby, it's his fault anyway. Alternatively! If you can get a second WiiU system for cheap (so long as the pad is intact), you can sync it to your system: http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1131/~/how-to-sync-a-wii-u-gamepad-with-a-wii-u-console

Thanks, Try. <333

I'm going to mention this to him since he DID break it in his shenanigans. Less money is best and if he's comfy doing it...fine with me. I suppose if it does get screwed, we're back to square one and just need to contact Nintendo for a full replacement. But, hopefully it won't come to that and it looks like the cost for a screen alone isn't too bad.

Again, thanks, Try. : )

Not a problem. Also, if he's emphatically not comfortable with the process, you could also try seeking out one of those little third party phone repair shops. Sometimes they're in mall kiosks, there's one in my town with a giant sign outside that just reads 'IPHONE'. The process is simpler than most phone repairs, so any employee there will be totally qualified. It'll probably be an off-book repair, though, so you may need to negotiate with a manager.

Not to be totally churlish, but most of the stores around here are run by koreans, so you may even have an in~

LOL! Nah, I totally get you. An 'in' is an 'in' and it's just an added thing to look into once he decides his level of comfort after peeking at the vid. We've used those iRepairs before for the iPad. The one in our mall has guys from India. But there's a shop on one of the more major roads too. Definitely, it's more stuff to consider, which isn't bad. It's good to know all the options. Especially the cheaper ones. I also wonder if a place like that would do it if you provided the part....hrmm...

Probably one of the best games I think people overlook on the Wii U was Bayonetta 2.

But I am currently pretty pissed at my system. My Wii U isn't working properly. The power brick is registering the correct amount of power, however the red light constantly just blinks when you try to turn it on. Tried to reset the power and everything (unplugging it from the wall and the wii u for a bit).

I actually finally managed to get it to turn on, by hitting the power brick in frustration. Lol. But, after it's off (coming back to it a day later) the system won't turn on again until I tinker with it. Been trying to find another power supply, hoping that perhaps that will fix it entirely. I'd rather not have to replace the whole thing. Any ideas? Just curious if anyone else has had this problem.

Could probably be had for even cheaper on Amazon. Make sure you get the console cord, not the gamepad one.

Yeah I was planning on probably utilizing Amazon if it's cheaper. Thanks for the help! :)

Forgot to mention this a while ago, but....fixed that Wii U game pad ala buying the parts—cheap—on Amazon and then following YouTube vids to fix the damned thing. Worked out fine actually. I was slick and bought the parts in a kit that came with a tri-wing (YES, you NEED that tool). Cost me a whopping $20 to fix since I needed the LCD, digitizer and tri-wing. Not bad! And now the thing functions as if it had never broken in the first place. XD Only word of caution if any of you ever attempt this...KEEP TRACK OF ALL PARTS! You need to remove a lot to get to the screen/digitizer. Basically, it's tucked away rather well. >.< But honestly, it's a doable project. So there's that and, for me, it was a success story. : )
