Sometimes things were better left unsaid. One thing was constantly going through her mind right about now and that was about what Nii-sama had told her a few hours ago, something she hadn't ever considered possible. Rukia had been adopted by the noble house of Kuchiki because of a dying wish her sister Hisana had extracted from Byakuya.

It sounded as though Byakuya hadn't wanted to do this and that somehow it was her fault which didn't sit well with her but maybe she was reading too much into it. Rukia had never known this and probably never would have unless Byakuya had told her and she wondered why Nii-sama had done so now, what had changed?

Well, what had changed between them more specifically. Had her near death made something deep inside Byakuya stir? Rukia dared not think of such a thing because she hadn't expected Nii-sama to show such emotion, he'd never been that sort of guy.

However, she had been surprised when Nii-sama had placed himself in front of Shinsou in order to save her life when Byakuya hadn't spoken out during her execution. What went on in the mind of that man?

Ichigo had already left for Karakura Town once more. He needed to go back to his life since he had one to live and Rukia envied that sometimes since her family was dead and would not be coming back until she joined them in the afterlife. What else was there to do? Soul Society was the only place she could call home now.

Rukia took Sode no Shirayuki and placed it through her sash as she headed down the corridors towards the training field. She still needed to recover but thought it might do her a bit of good to take her mind off things. Now that the Hougyoku had been removed from her she felt a bit empty but also better. Urahara-san told her that her energy should slowly start to come back now that the Hougyoku wasn't eating away at her reiatsu.

But it was hard to simply sit and wait. Rukia wanted to be of use now and not be a block of wood, she'd always been this way.
