She still had a tease on her lips, adn that did not surprise him in the least.
"Yes, terribly sorry to keep you waiting milady. I suppose it's too late, adn we'll have to call the entire thing off." He said with a sigh, and took a half step towards the inn once more, watching hte moment that she would have the crushing moment of his blowing her off, before ha linked his arm with hers, and smiled. "Come on girl. We got lots of ground to cover."
He led her around the inn, and through the back alleys, taking her outside of the village. It was a nice day, the sunlight beraming down, but the breeze kept going enough to keep the heat down. They walked throuhg the knee high grass for a time, before they climbed a hill. The land before them was a rippling wave of amber grain and hay field grasses. Off in the distance was a great bare patch, nothing growing on it, and the soil looked scorched. But Faryn said nothing about it, and simply led her on, through the fields. It took nearly half an hour to reach a small copse of trees, and he stepped away from Ewyn, and began to prepare. The bowl was first, setting it on a bare patch of ground. Then he poured out a generous measure of cream. He trook the small loaf of bread, and broke it open, wanting the smell to be able to spread out. He set the bread on the edge of the bowl, the edges of it touching hte liquid. FInally, he opened the jar of honey, and began to pour.
"Those of the realm beyond, of the lesser courts. Those who scour, those who purge, those who make right the unclean, I call you to me now. Be present, by this offering, be known, be within my sights." He said calmly, his voice shifting, as though he spoke words that he'd done a thousand thousand times, and had gotten very used to. He stood after he was done pouring the honey and speaking, adn took a long step back to be beside Ewyn. He held a finger to his lips, calling her to silence.
They didn't wait long. The sound of a tiny door slamming came to him, a sign that they had indeed some to the right place. And in a moment, he saw something move near the bowl.
"Be within my sight." He said calmly, quietly, not a command, just a statement. And in that moment, a veil of magic parted, revealing the creature behind it.
And it was not large. Barely a foot and a half tall, it had the look of a somewhat overly hairy human of that size. Faryn had seen brownies before, more than a few of them, but this one was different. Most of their kind wore simple shifts and aprons, but this one...this one wore a tailored suit, carried a cane, and seemed much mroe poised. And he was looking right at the two humans.
