A Night at Play [Mr_Sir & SukoshiVampire]

Mariella felt the movement of him moving closer and couldn't begin to help but feel a tad more anxious as he laid his arm across the railing behind her, bringing them a touch closer to each other. It was a dangerous game to their society, what they were taking part in, but she was beginning not to care. It wasn't often she got along well with a member of the male sex after she opened her mouth. Most often, she was praised and paid attention to, until she bothered to speak. Then most just turned tail and found more complacent and obediant game. It was a nice change that she was able to converse with a man and not have to curb her tongue for fear of chasing him off, not that she would try to curb her tongue to begin with. She was fine being brutally honest; she had no problem with it. It was other people that did.

She found pleasure in his words and couldn't help but smile at him, her own lips parting enough to show a slight of her white teeth. Mariella wasn't the forward type, and she didn't even know how to be. However, she found that her heartrate had kicked up a notch and, as inappropiate as it was, she wanted to move closer to him. She tucked a strand of her curls behind her ear and let out a soft, content sigh. "I am glad you did follow me out," she confessed, "knowing the usual playout by now, probably would've been as uninteresting as always should you have not shown up and saved me from such a dreadful evening."

"Well then, I'm even more glad I came after you then, and doubly so that I could help change the script these places tend to follow, if only some what. Better for the both of us that way really." He sits back against the railing more so, leaning his head back just a bit as he looked up at the stars and moon light. Just taking in the night sky for a few moments, before he sat back up. Taking the time to straighten his uniform a bit before standing now. Turning to her with a smile, and giving a bow to her as he would offer his hand now. The music from inside was barely audible, but enough so one could tell it was there.

"If you would do me the honor though of having a dance with someone I have some actual common interest with. I'd be a fool to let such a worth while opportunity with such a vision of a lady pass me by this evening." He gave a warm smile as he kept his gaze upon her own now. Waiting to see her response, if she even wanted to dance. He personally just thought it was a good idea, not to mention they had been talking all this time. Best to save some conversation for later, after all, the party wasn't finished yet.

Assuming she takes his hand, he would kiss the back of her own lightly before helping her up. Moving to take position for a waltz now, right hand going to her waist, and left holding her right hand. He held the frame firmly, and started to hum out the music from the party to make sure the both of them could keep time with it now. Waiting for her to signal she was ready before he would start to lead into the waltz. Very light on his feet for a soldier, he obviously knew how to dance if nothing else. His motions all fluid and in perfect time with the rhythm set.

Safe to say she was a touch surprised when he rose and offered his hand to her for a dance. Her lips pulled up at the corners in a smile as she took his hand. "I'd love to dance with you," she admitted as she took up stance with him for the Waltz. She had to admit that being this close to him made her feel a little nervous, her awareness of her growing attraction to him not so oblivious to her mind anymore. He was very light on his feet and, despite her social awkwardness, she was as well. Not that it was anything surprising, as noblemen's daughters and sons were often tutored in all things, including dance. His voice was soothing to her as he began to hum the music, helping keep the rhythm for the both of them.

Mariella couldn't help but find herself leaning into him as they danced the Waltz within the confines of the gazebo. She even found herself humming ever so slightly along with him as they glided together in perfect harmony. She had never really enjoyed dancing amongst the ton, following the motions with men she had no inkling of likability with, but she was really enjoying dancing with him in the privacy of the gazebo. Not entirely sure as to why, except that they got along famously, but she couldn't argue it.

He would smile warmly as they continued the little dance, humming the tune the entire time. After a few moments starting to get more intricate with the dance steps. Adding in spins and flourishes now to the movements as they went a long with the music. The closeness having an effect on him. Her scent flooding his nostrils now, and the sound of her increased pulse having to be ignored as he held his thirst at bay for now. He was a very disciplined vampire if nothing else. One always had to be though if they wished to keep themselves a secret. He however did take things to his advantage. An 'accidental' brush against her during a spin, or pulling her just a bit closer after coming out of one of the flourishes.

The little things like that always seemed to make the most difference from what he could tell, especially in the more precarious situations where one has more to lose than just a meal. As the music came to a close however, he would step back and offer a bow to her. Smiling warmly as he stood back up, and speaking softly now. "Thank you very much for the dance Mariella. You're quite graceful on your feet."

She did her best not to blush as they danced together closely beneath the moonlight, though they were well concealed within the embrace of the garden's gazebo. Just as she was concealed within his embrace. She shouldn't be. At least not as far as the ton was concerned. Always sticking their noses into the lives of those that need not concern them. Fueled by insistent gossip. Before she could dwell on it for too long, the dance was ended and he stepped back to present her with a gentlemanly bow. "Thank-you very much for the dance," she murmured to him as he complimented her.

She was usually far from graceful, especially when nervous and in the presence of men. For some reason or another, she wasn't nervous in his presence. If she knew him for what he truly was, she would be nervous, wary, and even afraid, but for the moment she seemed content and comfortable in his presence.

The male would give a warm smile, moving to take her hand lightly and give her one more flourishing spin with a dip then, and spinning her once more now down gently back to her seat. The male giving a warm smile, and even venturing to wink before he would kiss the back of her hand once more, and then release it as he moved to sit back down again. He placed his arm behind her upon the railing again, though still not venturing yet to place his arms about his shoulder.

He was just waiting for the proper time, the proper moment or opening now to see exactly how he would go about coercing her further away. The setting was perfect for just a feeding, but he had grown heavily intrigued by this female. He had found himself now to want more already from her, she enticed him, attracted him, and he wanted to make her his own now. It wouldn't even be that difficult, especially with her mother looking to get to marry her off.

He would wait though, intrigue her, entice her, seduce her, and if he would get her to willingly be his. It would be a challenge, a hunt which he hadn't allowed himself to take. She had been the first different and attractive enough for him to want to take this chance. It was time to end some of that lonely streak, even a vampire would want some form of companionship from time to time after all. He sat beside her, just looking to her eyes now as he let the few moments they had been sharing sink in for a bit between the two of them.

Mariella found herself giving an almost happy, girlish laugh as he twirled her about before setting her into the seat upon the gazebo's bench. A soft sigh escaped from between her lips and she sank back against the seat, pressing her slim hand to her lips to stifle her soft giggle. It had been a long time since she had this much fun, especially in the company of a man. He was intriguing to say the least. Just as she seemed to be to him. "Thank-you for such a wonderful time, Lt." Her words were soft, aimed at him as she sent him a small, almost shy smile. "I do believe this is the most fun I have been presented with in quite some time."

His arm was stretched across the railing behind her and it wasn't that she didn't notice, but she chose to play innocent of its existence so close to her. At least for now. She had never been in such a situation before and she was beginning to feel a tad overwhelmed by it all. Never had a man paid more interest in her than what was required by social standards. Sure, every man wanted her body but none had actually been interested in her, as a person.

"Should we head back?" She inquired as she found him staring into her eyes. The guests were soon to be gossiping, she was sure. They both had been missing from the party for awhile now, but she honestly did not care too much for the moment, content to sit here and spend some more time with him.

He would give a warm smile, still hiding the majority of his mouth with such. He would chuckle softly at her words, shaking his head a bit when he looked over her a bit now speaking. "I'm personally quite glad that you've found me so interesting. A woman like you, I take that as quite a high compliment from. I don't often get to find someone who actually catches my interest in anything more than a passing. We could go back, but I have to truly admit that I'm enjoying myself as it is."

He would give a nod to her, moving to look out over the garden. The moon was full, and bright, shining heavily over the flowers and shrubs of the garden. The small pool of water just outside of the gazebo a still mirror, mimicking the images of the beautiful world around them. Their own images as well easily seen within. He was certainly glad the myth about a vampire not having a reflection wasn't true, it would make moments like this quite inconvenient. He would nudge her slightly, motioning to the pool so she could see how they looked from behind.

"Wonder what the reposes from those inside would be to this image though? Not that they can see it here, but I do find it funny to wonder as to the oppinions of others. I don't care much for them, but they are always entertaining for a laugh if nothing else. Such wild assumptions always thrown about."

"You flatter me," she responded with a soft chuckle. His nudge caught her attention as intended and she turned her head to look upon the reflection in the still pool of water behind them. "Ah, yes, indeed whatever would they say? I'm sure it would be scandalous indeed." She couldn't help a soft laugh. "Oh goodness! What shame! Out in the night unchaperoned with a man! However would she show her face in public again! Imagine the scandal!" She fanned her hands in her face as she impersonated a high-pitched, gossipy female with the ranks of the aristocrats within the party. She couldn't help but start laughing softly at that. "Oh, goodness. I do believe I am having too much fun with this," she admitted with an embarrassed smile.

The way that she was turned to peak at the water found her slightly more enveloped by his frame. His arm only inches from resting against her shoulders rather than the gazebo's railing. And when she looked up into his face, she found that she was no more than perhaps a hands width away. Her eyes lowered and she blushes, clearing her throat a tad before adverting her gaze elsewhere, her hands folded nervously in her lap now.

He would give a soft chuckle, shaking his head as he would look to the female now. "Flattery by nature is at least partially dishonest, and I'm only speaking the truth." He would give a full laugh at her impersonation, his hand moving up to cover his mouth a bit with one hand. "And you do continue to be entertaining though. Nothing wrong with having some fun anyways, one has to learn to enjoy life, find the things that make it worth living and enduring the hardships and abrasive people."

When she turned back and looked to him he would let his eyes lock with hers, looking into them for a few moments before she would start to turn away a bit. His own gloved hand then moving to place his index finger under the tip of her chin to keep her from quite looking away. A warm smile given before he would speak then. "You have quite fetching eyes, and it is nice to know that I still can bring a blush about on a lady who actually has a personality I can enjoy being around." He moved his hand away, not wishing to alarm the woman after all. He wanted her to be at ease with him, wanted to charm her. She was a meal, a conquest, prey for him in more ways than one this evening.

His finger beneath her chin caught her by surprise and she did her very best to keep her blush at bay. However, his continuing compliments made that nearly impossible. Nearly. Somehow she managed to keep the red tint from her freckled cheeks. His presence was beginning to affect her in ways she didn't quite understand; men had been attractive to her but none had ever gone beyond that. Not only was he attractive, but he was interesting, and was not put off by her attitude like most suitors were. Oh, how her mother would react with jubilation at such a moment. Her mother would be shamed to have an unmarried and spinster daughter, if she didn't find someone willing to put up with her. Mariella allowed herself a moment of fantasy, to picture what more time with this man would be like.

Her attention snapped back when he dropped his hand from her face. She allowed herself a genuine smile, feeling at ease with him, even so far from the main house in the seclusion of the garden. "Thank-you," she said with a soft chuckle. "I am glad that there is finally someone who can stand to put up with me." There was an almost embarrassed smile, as she had never liked that she stood out the way she did, but she knew she couldn't force herself to be someone that she wasn't. She didn't just want to be another young woman swooping about for a marriageable man to settle down with, only to service him and present him with fine sons - as the requirement seemed to be.

He would quirk up one brow now, tilting his head a bit as he gave a slightly confused look from her words. Shaking his head a bit before he would begin to speak. "Glad there is finally one? My lady I have to say that I find that quite surprising really. But I guess that is their loss, though good news for myself." He knew he had her then, all he had to do now was continue upon the same path that he had maneuvered her onto. The arm close behind her on the railing, the soft touch of her chin, each word he had spoken since they had met bringing them into a moment where he knew he easily could have his drink before the party came to a close. Though he wanted more from this girl, he found himself truly attracted to her, enthralled even to an extent. Far too many of the women in the noble stock were so uptight, too boring and far too 'proper'. She spoke her mind, let herself be just as she was, and a beauty to look upon as well. It had really been quite some time since he had actually enjoyed the company of any prey he came across.

"A lady of your mind and beauty deserves a man who will let them be who they are, and not just carry her on his arm like some trophy won in war." He smiled warmly at her, pausing as he would move his arm up right behind her shoulders. Almost touching them now even as he leaned in just a bit closer toward her before continuing to speak. "I only hope that I'm making as good of an impression upon you as you have me. I'd hate to think I'm losing a chance at such an elegant creature." He waited for her response then, wanting to gauge her reactions. He was certain he had her, but he had lived long enough and was smart enough to know one never counted their chickens before they hatched. He wanted to handle this with the utmost delicacy, he had to admit he was greatly enjoying his hunt this evening.

His words, his actions, his very presence, was beginning to seep through her guard. Never before had a man, or anyone really, paid so much genuine attention to her; the moment she opened her mouth and released a thought, they would bolt, assuming her the worst kind of woman to be around, besides the low class, improper kinds. He leaned closer and she found she had to swallow because she was becoming so nervous. Never had anyone caused such a reaction in her. "I-indeed," she murmured, embarrassed that it took a moment to get that one word out. "I do find you very interesting, perhaps more than you find me. Though, I am overly curious in general," she found herself teasing him playfully and found it almost surprising. She never really got this far into interacting with a person. Especially a man.

His arm was closer to her shoulders and she found that she wanted to lean back into it. That caused a blush to spread across her cheeks and she couldn't suppress it this time. She really didn't want to though, either, not after he had told her he found the blush fetching on her youthful face. The thought made a slight smile break across her lips. "Yes, interesting is the word, I think," she chuckled.

Derrik would give a warm smile, venturing now to pull his arm up to her shoulders now, finally making a move to go in further with things. He himself was even enthralled by this young beauty, and he wasn't going to let opportunity pass him by now. "Nothing wrong with being curious, especially when it is a shared interest. However, I'll have to say that I'm sure we find each other equally interesting, as I doubt you could possibly find me more interesting than I do you." His free hand would move up and trace the back of his index finger down one of her blushed cheeks slowly. "It's difficult for me to find someone who I can truthfully say I enjoy time with, too many stuffy women who are told what a 'proper lady' is and never think for themselves at all. You're a unique one really, and I personally find that fascinating."

His finger sliding down across her cheek now moved underneath her chin as thumb would be used along with it to grasp the area lightly. Turning her head to look right at him as he would allow his eyes to lock onto hers. For the moment just peering into them while his other arm still held her in close about the shoulders now. Oh if anyone saw this it would be quite the scandal, and possibly enrage her parents...well maybe not her mother. Still though, he didn't even care at the moment. He wanted this woman, as prey, as a companion, but most importantly just as his.

Things were beginning to progress into an area that she was really unfamiliar with, not that they hadn't already. Never had she been in the garden with such a handsome man, not to mention unchaperoned. Oddly, she was only nervous and uncertain. Not afraid or uncomfortable. His finger on her cheek caused her blush to remain and soft tremble to appear in her lips as they parted in reaction. "Is that so?" Her question fell out on an almost silent whisper of breath. His arm was now around her shoulders, though not tight, silently encouraging her to move closer, ever as he took a soft grip on her chin to turn her face. Eyes now locked with his own, she had to suppress a shudder in response; not a bad shudder, but rather a shudder of awareness in her growing attraction to Derrik. "I find that hard to believe," she commented briefly, trying to find something to converse with. She hadn't found herself in this sort of situation and was almost anxious enough to try and fill every bit of silence she could. She swallowed softly, the urge to break his gaze so strong because she was so nervous now. Yet, he seemed to have created such a pull on her that she could not bring herself to look away from him, not even for a moment. Despite the scandal if anyone saw them, it didn't deter her feelings from the way that they were. They should, she thought vaguely, but she had always been the oddball, so why be any different now. Who knew when she would be able to feel like this again, if ever.

He would would continue to look into her eyes as he spoke now, his thumb and index finger still grasping her chin lightly. "Believe it or not, it is quite true. And since you've confessed to being as interested in me, I'll take your leave to be a bit more bold." With that he would pull her right to him with his arm slowly. Looking into her eyes the whole time with his own ice blue ones until he now would be right face to face with her. His hand releasing her chin, and moving to let his gloved palm caress her cheek now. Lightly pulling her in that way, he then would move to close his eyes and attempt to press his lips against her own in a tender kiss now. This would certainly be the moment of truth, as she could suddenly change her mind and slap him across the face. However one couldn't gain anything if they didn't take risks from time to time. It was something he knew well as a soldier, and it carried over quite well throughout his life.

He would hold the kiss for a time, keeping it gentle for now as he would hold her in against himself with his other arm still about her shoulders. After a few moments breaking the kiss and looking to her eyes again if they were open. His hand sliding down from her cheek to allow the back of his knuckles to be run up and down the side of the female's neck. He smiled warmly to her, waiting to see what kind of a reaction she would have to his forwardness. He wanted this woman now even more than when he had first seen her. He'd have her if he could, though unlike others...he'd even be willing to let this one go if she chose against it now. He had the urge for her to see him fondly, to enjoy his company, and didn't want to force anything from her. He wanted her to want it as he did.
