The city of Cairo, Egypt, was no doubt in one of it's most prosperous eras ever. The Pharaoh was finally setting things in the right direction, be it economically, financially, or otherwise. When he wasn't busy ruling, he was insisting for his son to rule. The answer was easy though the more typical public would never be informed. He was ill and only a few people, including his own child and those closest to him, knew of this horrible truth.
Each day that passed, his life faded more and more. Many high priests had been working to see if anything could be done to allow for him to have more time on this Earth. But they were already doing all they could. To try to expand his life force and simultaneously go against Anubis would be unfair and a feat to be feared, no doubt.
Akil had finished having a talk with the Pharaoh and had been given new orders. His duties had shifted from guarding the ruler to his son. While she was flattered, a part of her worried slightly on this.
Yes, she. Akil was the fake name she had been using throughout the years. Her real name was Akila. But without the last 'a', her name could be easily used as a disguise for a male. She'd always been born with an array of androgynous features to help out with the guise. Long hair was something both genders could have easily enough and while her face had a slightly feminine look, that could also be rather common.
To help out with her cover, she always kept her breasts wrapped. Not like they were overly huge to begin with though that did help make the task of hiding herself even simpler. And to top it off, her voice even sounded like a male. It was a tedious task, yes. But Akila had been born and raised in a male dominant household. It was all but inevitable to not pick up on such things.
The sounds of her barefoot feet would be easy to pick up on as they echoed through the halls. Two khopeshes were sheathed at her side. Akila understood perfectly all she had been doing for years and that it could very well mean her death if her cover was ever discovered. But that had been exactly why she had taken any and all precautions to avoid such end results.
As her dark eyes found their destination - Prince Sefu's room - her head quickly lowered to gaze down at the floor as she gave a low bow. Her mindset went as if she were Akil, her male counterpart, before finally clearing her throat and speaking up.
"Excuse me. I hope I wasn't interrupting anything. But ... I have been assigned to remain by your side rather than your father's."
She knew it would be as much of a double-edged blade to admit. The orders had been from Sefu's father. But that wouldn't mean the Prince would ever like this. Still, he'd have to realize that sometimes .... people just had to endure and accept things they weren't so fond of. Hopefully he could begin to do that because - gods help him - he'd need to wise up somehow.
