The city of Cairo, Egypt, was no doubt in one of it's most prosperous eras ever. The Pharaoh was finally setting things in the right direction, be it economically, financially, or otherwise. When he wasn't busy ruling, he was insisting for his son to rule. The answer was easy though the more typical public would never be informed. He was ill and only a few people, including his own child and those closest to him, knew of this horrible truth.

Each day that passed, his life faded more and more. Many high priests had been working to see if anything could be done to allow for him to have more time on this Earth. But they were already doing all they could. To try to expand his life force and simultaneously go against Anubis would be unfair and a feat to be feared, no doubt.

Akil had finished having a talk with the Pharaoh and had been given new orders. His duties had shifted from guarding the ruler to his son. While she was flattered, a part of her worried slightly on this.

Yes, she. Akil was the fake name she had been using throughout the years. Her real name was Akila. But without the last 'a', her name could be easily used as a disguise for a male. She'd always been born with an array of androgynous features to help out with the guise. Long hair was something both genders could have easily enough and while her face had a slightly feminine look, that could also be rather common.

To help out with her cover, she always kept her breasts wrapped. Not like they were overly huge to begin with though that did help make the task of hiding herself even simpler. And to top it off, her voice even sounded like a male. It was a tedious task, yes. But Akila had been born and raised in a male dominant household. It was all but inevitable to not pick up on such things.

The sounds of her barefoot feet would be easy to pick up on as they echoed through the halls. Two khopeshes were sheathed at her side. Akila understood perfectly all she had been doing for years and that it could very well mean her death if her cover was ever discovered. But that had been exactly why she had taken any and all precautions to avoid such end results.

As her dark eyes found their destination - Prince Sefu's room - her head quickly lowered to gaze down at the floor as she gave a low bow. Her mindset went as if she were Akil, her male counterpart, before finally clearing her throat and speaking up.

"Excuse me. I hope I wasn't interrupting anything. But ... I have been assigned to remain by your side rather than your father's."

She knew it would be as much of a double-edged blade to admit. The orders had been from Sefu's father. But that wouldn't mean the Prince would ever like this. Still, he'd have to realize that sometimes .... people just had to endure and accept things they weren't so fond of. Hopefully he could begin to do that because - gods help him - he'd need to wise up somehow.

Sefu

Sefu huffed impatiently as he paced back and forth in his room, it did little to calm the turmoil within him but because he was told by his father the Pharaoh to wait in his room for further instructions, he had little other options. He hated not knowing things, especially being left out of the loop, he would often complain to his father about matters like this, however 99% of the time he was met with the same answer 'you'll come to understand in time my son.'

What did that even mean? The old man forced him to shoulder so much responsibility but his eldest son and heir to the throne of Egypt wasn't trusted enough to tell him just why he was now waiting for someone to walk through the door and let him know what was going on. Sefu understood that his father was sick and had been for quite some time now, he recalled the last time he was in a situation like this his father was on his death bed, it was a miracle from the gods that he had survived.

The only reason he did not believe that it was not the case this time was that while the Pharaoh was fading once again, he was instructed by his father personally to do so. "Gods know what I am waiting for" he cried out in frustration before letting out a long exasperated sigh. He turned at the sound of feet slapping against the stone floor, getting closer and louder with each passing second.

Sefu watched as who he assumed was a soldier walked through the door to his room and bowed deeply, showing him formal respect. The prince acknowledged the man by nodding his head, listening intently to what he had to say.

He was not sure how to feel about this news, his father was ill he needed all the support he could get. Sefu did not consider himself so helpless that he needed to be watched at all hours of the day like a child. His frustration was obvious and he did not attempt to hide it from his apparent new body guard, letting a deep sigh. This was the news he was waiting on? For some random soldier to come and tell him that he was his new babysitter?

"I am sorry I understand you are only acting under orders but I do not need a personal body guard" he replied, his tone poorly concealing how annoyed he was with this concept "my father is the one who needs to be watched and cared for right now, not me."

The annoyed cry that had left the Prince's lips made Akila slightly - but inwardly all the same - cringe. She understood and could only begin to imagine the weight upon Sefu's shoulders. All the same, she also comprehended the concept of obligations and responsibilities. And right now, both herself and Sefu had each of those. Just as the Prince didn't make any attempts to hide his dislike of the orders, she returned the favor. Her arms went over her chest as a slight glare dared to enter her eyes. Her tone went from the stoic and calm one to a much more strict one. It would be clear that she wouldn't easily accept his reply.

"I won't say I'm overly fond of this myself. Trust me. However, I do know my place. And right now, the most foolish course of action would be for either of us to go against the Pharaoh. If you wish to make an attempt and argue with him by all means ... " She stepped aside and out of the way, her hands gesturing towards the door. "Try it. I doubt he'll change his orders or mind. Really though, Sefu, you have to accept that your father will not always be around to rule over Egypt, help you, any and every possible concept and idea you may have going through your mind at that matter. When that day arrives, you're going to have to be ready. Only you can take over in his stead and rule Egypt. No one else has been given that right."

Her hands went back over her chest as her eyes continued to make contact with Sefu's. "That being said, I'm pretty certain it's why he has bothered to make this request. When you do take over, you'll need several things." She knew it would seem redundant to repeat the list but with how he seemed to fail to understand it, she'd do so. "A bride, an heir, and the point I'm specifically trying to make are individuals who will ensure your safety. What you do and attempt is solely up to you. However, I do pray that you realize this is for your own good and stop acting like a child."

Yes, many of the words were rather harsh. But he'd needed a reality check as it were. And Akila was more than willing to try to give him one. If she failed, however, Sefu's father could always do that much if nothing else. Either way, he would - in time - realize it was a lose-lose situation for him. And while Akila didn't enjoy seeing Sefu in a sea of negative emotions, it wasn't her duty to try to make any changes in the customs or traditions of Egypt.

After all, she was but a servant and bodyguard. Nothing more, nothing less. And until she breathed her last breath, she would do all she could for the current and future ruler.

RE: The Answer Is Right Beside You (Yuna & Raitachi's 1x1)

Sefu

Sefu blinked in surprise, clearly not expecting such a response from a lowly soldier, he even noted that she used his name without honouring his status but decided that it would be better to let it go at this point rather then bringing it up and creating more tension then was needed right now. He nodded and bowed his head slightly, indicating that he understood, his loose pony tail falling over his shoulder as he put on what he called 'for the good of the kingdom' face before straightening up to face his new body guard.

At first glance, he didn't look like much, his body was scrawny and there were some features about this man that just seemed a little off to Sefu but that being said his father hand picked this one as his "I apologise for my harshness earlier, I trust my father's judgement and if he truly believes that you are capable then I shall believe in you also" he replied, thinking over the warrior's words.

He was right, Sefu was the next Pharaoh of Egypt, the next son of the sun god Ra, which meant he needed to act as such. But that did not mean that he enjoyed the idea of marrying someone he hardly know and who more then likely just wanted a link to the throne. The prince was far more interested in falling in love with the woman he'd intend on marrying, but he was certainly not going to find this in the company of body guards and other men. Because of the nature of his status it was also next to impossible especially when he had pressures from every side to find a bride and produce an heir to succeed him.

"However I am well aware what I need" he continued on trying to keep his tone as even as possible as to not betray his true emotion, which was mostly frustration "and I suppose that will be sorted soon enough" Sefu raised his hand to cup his chin pondering silently for a few moments before suddenly stopping and turning to face the soldier standing patiently in his room "I am dreadfully sorry but I believe I never asked what your name was" he stated, feeling slightly embarrassed by this revelation.

Her reply had been repeating throughout Akila's mind. And as she realized her hastiness which caused her to forget including 'Prince' to be used whilst addressing Sefu, her heart sank and race. That alone could have easily gotten her in a massive world of trouble. But thankfully, he didn't bother to scold or enforce that. Needless to say, she was more than grateful for it. That alone could have wound up revealing her identity - assuming the punishment would have made even a bit of her clothes tear - which would almost no doubt have led to her death. Even as Sefu spoke up, her heart was still racing. She was glad to have remained near the entrance and not advanced forward. Otherwise he would most likely hear her frantically beating heart.

Her head shook as she offered Sefu a reassuring smile. "It's quite alright, Prince Sefu. I understand, to certain degrees, how much pressure you have been under and especially as of late. Or at least I've heard given how long I've been beside your father." Her eyes remained firmly upon the Prince as he spoke and moved. Now that she had a better angle, Akila got a better vantage point even with the distance separating the two. And it was a miracle in her mind and eyes he hadn't found someone. He definitely had the charisma and appearance to gain someone's attention. But then again, women could be as cruel as men; this she had seen and known from her own past experiences. He was likely making the correct move on being cautious about choosing any random woman.

Not like it matters. You're just supposed to be the bodyguard, anyways, as you said. Nothing more, nothing less.

That reminder made her frown slightly. The thought had never bothered her before. Now, she suddenly felt wishing to be ... more? But that alone was foolish and wishful thinking. If she didn't wind up dead should her true nature be found out, she'd likely be forced into the ranks of a slave. And they seldom if ever wound up getting wed, let alone had many other freedoms. The thought further depressed and increased her anxieties.

"Ah, yes." The lack of an introduction made Akila snap out of her thoughts as she gave another low bow. "I was too hasty to get these orders done that I hadn't realized I missed that. My name is Akil, Prince Sefu." Her gaze stayed slightly lowered as she continued to speak. "Did you have anything on your agenda for the day?" Now that he'd better accepted the concept of having a bodyguard, she would begin to play that role out as efficiently as possible. After all, she'd gotten this far and there was no sense in her turning back and destroying the guise she'd worked and kept for so many years.

RE: The Answer Is Right Beside You (Yuna & Raitachi's 1x1)

Sefu nodded and offered him a smile before bowing his head respectfully "it is a pleasure and an honour to meet you Akil, I thank you now for you services, my life is in your hands" he stated, feeling somewhat more at ease about the situation, although he still did not enjoy it. It was akin to being treated as though he were still a child despite the fact that he had already reached maturity, not that he let that feeling show on his face though. It was not Akil's fault that this was happening, at the very least he could try to be civil with the man who pleadged his life to protect his, it was the least he could do and maybe one day they might even be friends. Sefu however, sensed there was some thing bothering Akil about this whole thing and briefly wondered if he should be asking him what the problem was, but quickly dismissed it. He could not abuse his status like that to force personal information from him and he did not know Akil well enough to appeal to their friendship either so, for now, he let it go, focusing instead on the conversation that they were having.

He thought over his other duties before answering, as the future Pharaoh his father had never allowed him to serve in Egypt's great military, but that did not mean he wasn't allowed to study tactics, past battles, train in the art of combat, which gave him an exceptional military mind and skill, thus he was often used as an advisor to assist in training soldiers and discuss strategies with generals and other high ranking military officials. It annoyed him that with his apparent great skills, he wasn't permitted to join the front lines and thus his credibility in the eyes of new recruits and some of the field commanders was flimsy at best as he had never actually participated in any battles. Despite this he had several duties for the day, although they would not take him long, "I only have to attend the war meeting and after this I am required to spar with some new recruits" he stated, snapping out of his extended thought process "after that the day is free to do as I will, I hope" he added, his voice less then hopeful at this prospect.

...Wait. Why is he bowing his head to you? Isn't that backwards?

A surge of guilt shot through Akila but much like Sefu, she kept it hidden away from her eyes or face. It was nice to hear that if nothing else, he'd finally accepted the concept of having a bodyguard. That alone was definitely a blessing. Thank ... Ra? Probably. One of the highest ranking deities for sure was whom she was trying to look for, as it were. The slight pause that hovered between the two did make Akila slightly nervous. Had she said something wrong? Had he figured her out so fast?

No, no. Don't think that way. Stay calm. Panicking now will make him think something is up.

Sure enough, he didn't ask any odd questions which could have made her misspeak and give herself away to him. If anything, he complied and answered the questions she had inquired about. A slow nod left her head as she let them all repeat in her mind a few times.

"Very well. Do you need to gather or prepare somehow? Or are you ready to head out now?" The more things Akila could find to occupy herself with, the better. It'd continue to ensure she stayed hidden. It wasn't just her hiding her gender that the warrior was anxious about. Oh no. She had broken many other traditions in the process.

Even to this day, Akila had refused to shave her head. Her views ... she just couldn't agree with the customs. So the hair upon her head was very real and not the wig people typically wore. She'd deceived and lied to so many people in order to keep this guise, including the Pharaoh. The fact it had worked so far made her a bit more guilty.

But prior to this life, she had been but a slave. Needless to say, Akila wanted to change her life for the better. She'd never dare make a move against the Pharaoh or his family. But she would strive to better her own status. And if that included taking all the steps she'd done, so be it.

That all being said and thought, when her right time did come ... she knew the weighing of her heart would likely go horribly amiss. The thought alone made her shiver, causing Akila to quickly shove the idea and images away.

Remaining near the door, Akila silently waited for a reply and to know whether to remain in the room or leave for just a bit to allow Sefu to prepare.

RE: The Answer Is Right Beside You (Yuna & Raitachi's 1x1)

Sefu could not shake the feeling that there was something off about Akil, he hid it well from his facial expressions but his body language betrayed this. Was it something to do with him? Did he have some sort of issue with the prince? Sefu remembered that he implied that he didn't want to be his body guard so it maybe possible, but what could he have done to insight this negative feeling before now? Was he intimidated by his status or power? That was highly unlikely considering that before now he was part of the Pharaoh's body guard team, he was used to being around the most powerful man in the land of Egypt so Sefu's status was unlikely to phase him. He couldn't be sure, Sefu did not like that, so again he would let it go, but the questions were beginning to gnaw away at him, causing him to gradually become more and more curious.

Once again he realised that his train of thought was taken outside the means of their conversation and he snapped back into attention. "I am ready to go now" he replied feeling somewhat guilty that he almost didn't hear the question, although he didn't understand why he cared about Akil's opinion so soon after meeting him. He was usually a good judge of character immeadiatly upon meeting them, or at least he was decisive, whether it be good or bad, but with Akil it was different, there was so much mystery about this man, and he even couldn't decide if that was a good thing or not. Whatever it was, he did not feel the least bit threatened by it, and that was good enough for now. He took a few steps towards Akil and nodded indicating that it was time for them to leave.

Akila could all but hear the gears in Sefu's head turning. That alone made her want to turn and run before he could further inquire on what he was missing. But despite the temptation entering her head, she didn't bare begin to go through with it. Her ankles didn't tense or threaten to pivot and dart away. No. She'd already announced herself as the new bodyguard for the Prince. Now it was time to play that role out.

Thankfully, he didn't pursue trying to figure anything out. An inward sigh of relief echoed in her head as she nodded in agreement. Akila would wait and allow him to walk further ahead. Once he took a few steps forward, she went right behind him. It was where her place had been with the Pharaoh, never beside and certainly not in front of Sefu. Though Akila had gone to several of these meetings in the past, she managed to let Sefu enter first.

The room itself was big enough to hold ten people if ever needed. Usually, however, only about half of that amount showed up. So when more than the typical amount came into view of her eyes, Akila couldn't help but wonder why that was the case. Had something else occurred? This was beyond the norm. And even if Sefu didn't feel uneasy from this new sight, she sure did. The tension and atmosphere were all enough to tempt her into drawing out one khopesh and ask what was going on.

But she stopped, keeping her hands and tongue still. Besides, she may very well be merely over-thinking. The possibility did remain in her mind as did the nagging sensation that she needed to act and speak up.

Still, bodyguards - while higher in ranking than slaves - weren't much more in the end. Even talking out of turn could be something to be punished for. It irked her but she would continue to comply and obey with the rules of society.

Once Sefu took a seat, she stood behind him, her eyes staring ahead of herself. They weren't focused on any sole individual ... yet. But she could alter that if push came to shove.

RE: The Answer Is Right Beside You (Yuna & Raitachi's 1x1)

Sefu exited his room, walking down the stone hall way, noting that he was followed closely by Akil, he still didn't feel right about this but, it was the nature of his duty, so he tried to not let it bother him too much. He felt somewhat nervous about what lay ahead of him though he did not allow himself to show it, the war meeting was usually quite routine, generals making their reports, situation on the battle field, Sefu's opinon that they would pretend to listen to and not follow through. Though for some reason, he could feel a great amount of tension in the air, even before he walked into the room, there were a lot more people in there this time. There were the usual generals but this time there were some people he didn't recognise, they appeared to wear the usual arrogant expression that high ranking noblemen had, but something just wasn't settling about the room.

He looked back up at Akil, who looked just as tense as he felt, so it's not just me then he thought turning back to the room looking around, exchanging the usual pleasantries with the various generals and advisors who paid their respects to him and his father, wishing him a fast recovery and similar other things. The room became silent once again as one of the oldest generals in the room began his address, Sefu remembered that his father told him that they had served together in a great battle for the capital and he'd even saved the (at the time) future Pharaoh's life that day. Sefu grew up with a great amount of respect for General Akins, although he was certain that he did not feel the same way, the man respected guts, determination, none of these traits were commonly seen in the Prince, he was generally considered to be too inexperienced to be in his position. Despite this, Sefu continued to listen, in the hopes that one day he would gain the general's respect.

RE: The Answer Is Right Beside You (Yuna & Raitachi's 1x1)

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b242/virgo2005/RPC-RP Pics/normal_sherazardl_zpsc39ac02b.jpghttp://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b242/virgo2005/RPC-RP Pics/normal_sherazardl_zpsc39ac02b.jpghttp://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b242/virgo2005/RPC-RP Pics/normal_sherazardl_zpsc39ac02b.jpg

Going off of the last time that Akila had been in one of these meetings, she didn't recall any major battles or military events going on. The same applied to any future plans. But that was what the gatherings were for, partly; to discuss any alterations that would need to be made, what they would include, and other such similar concepts. Her eyes slowly studied all the members within the room, taking note of appearances and faces before looking back ahead of her again. Most were, indeed, the same people she'd seen before. But there were definitely new individuals that had never shown up before. Why was that? It seemed like a slightly odd time to allow newer faces into such meetings.

But .. that wasn't her call. So long as none were foolish enough to make any rash attempts, Akila cared not.

Her eyes managed to sneak a quick glimpse towards Sefu and noted that thankfully, it wasn't just her who was uneasy about this. That was definitely a relief. It meant she wasn't becoming paranoid. If anything, her gut instincts were likely as strong as ever.

Still, she made no aggressive moves. At most, her hands remained by her sides, ready to unsheathe a curved blade if push came to shove. She wouldn't like it but between failing her obligations or not .. well ... the choice on what she should wish to do was more than obvious. Akila had given her word not only to Sefu but his father. Her life would gladly be given up for his. That was the job of a bodyguard, after all. She'd known and understood that ever since sneaking her way up the ranking society of Egypt's society.

RE: The Answer Is Right Beside You (Yuna & Raitachi's 1x1)

Sefu

Sefu sighed as Akins finally finished his address and another general had began talking about the large number of casualties on the western front, and that is where the Egyptian prince tuned out. He was not interested in general Bastet's long winded story about how he needed more of the Pharaoh's army to leave their posts and march into all out war with a simple rebellion that could be ended quickly with the right tactics, not that he listened when Sefu told him this, but that was one of the other reasons he scarcely paid any attention to him when speaking. Resting his head on his hand, rolling his eyes only keeping them half open instead of paying attention to his surroundings like he should have been.

Whilst prince Sefu has pretending to stay awake an unknown man had slipped into the room, adept at hiding in plain sight, he was dressed very similarly to the generals and advisers, so slipping in and out undetected was not an issue for the hired assassin. He was not told who it was that hired him, for secrecies sake he was contracted through an agency, thus protecting the identity of the client. He was however sure that it was someone within this room, they wouldn't miss such a high profile job such as this, and to make sure it was done properly.

Unsurprisingly the Prince appeared to have a brought a body guard with him, this hardly mattered he wasn't going to make a difference, the prince would be dead long before anyone realised and by that time he would be gone. He couldn't help but smirk a little at how easy this job had been, stepping closer he was almost in range to strike, it would appear as though someone casually walked by for the amount of time it took. His heart began to race, becoming more excited as he did every time he was about to kill someone, he licked his lips as he neared the unsuspecting prince 'farewell prince Sefu' he thought just as he reached striking range

Much akin to the Prince, Akila wasn't paying much heed to the speeches or words. She caught a few terms every now and again but wouldn't strain herself to listen. That was what Sefu was supposed to be doing, regardless of how boring or otherwise these damn things were. Besides, a new sight - person rather - caught her attention. And while he looked like another of the generals, there was something off about him. The late arrival was indeed one. But .. it wasn't only that. There was an almost sinister and even foreign aura around this man. And she wasn't liking it.

Her eyes began to stalk and follow the newcomer carefully. It may very well be a mistake, she knew, to just up and forget of everything else. But if her instincts were correct, this was the right thing to do. Akila knew it'd look so weird for her to be gazing intently at supposedly one of their generals. The next action would only raise more eyebrows if not get a few more reactions.

Both hands went to her sides as she unsheathed the two khopeshes. Ignoring the stares she was no doubt getting by this point, her eyes narrowed as the individual licked their lips. That plus the very fact they had been heading towards Sefu ... yes. Her gut feelings had seemed to be right after all. The two curved blades trapped the man's neck in an X shape, not yet beheading him. But it was allowed to be seen how simple the task could be accomplished if she wished to have a change in heart, mercy, or both.

"You're not really one of the generals around here, are you?" She inquired, guiding him back and away from Sefu. "You've got a lot of nerve making an attempt not only in broad daylight but around so many witnesses, you know?"

RE: The Answer Is Right Beside You (Yuna & Raitachi's 1x1)

Sefu

The assassin cursed inwardly as he felt the body guard's blades form and X across his throat threateningly. Feeling himself being guided away from the prince presumably for his own safety, he shot the prince one last look of contempt, making sure he could see him do it. 'So the body guard is somewhat capable' he muttered to himself, as he began to be interrogated. "What gave me away?" he replied to his question, he was pretty sure it was rhetorical but he always did enjoy frustrating people almost as much as he enjoyed ending their lives.

"What can I say? It is the daring moves that puts the food on the table" he remarked with a casual tone, his head constantly turning or looking away from the man who appeared to have arrested him "Not like anyone would have noticed though... except you" he commented trying to get a good look at Akil, though it was a hard thing to do.

"So how many of you are there guarding him?" he asked, his tone still casual, as though 2 sharp knives resting against his throat was nothing to be concerned about. "Because I cannot confirm how many of us are running around" he stated with a smirk

Sefu looked up from his daze when he heard a man curse loudly, suffice to say he was shocked to see a strange man he'd never seen before standing over him, with Akil standing behind him, with both khopeshes held at his throat "Akil wha-" he tried to ask but he could feel his voice trail off as he watched his personal guard drag the man away.

It took a few seconds for him to realise but the man that Akil was threatening was mere seconds away from ending his life, maybe even less then that. He leaned over his knee's his breath intensifying and his hands trembled as the shock set in in that this was for real, people were actually trying to kill him. It wasn't something that he could joke and pass off any more, Akil just saved his life. He had felt such resentment for the man and his father for forcing this on him, claiming that it was the same as being treated like a child.

Shakily he got to his feet, his whole body trembled now, ignoring the confused looks he received from the various generals, he hurriedly dashed out of the room. Surely they could understand what had just happened, though he doubted they would cut him any sort of slack for acting unprofessionally like that. He walked a few paces down the hall away from the meeting before his legs gave out and he collapsed on the hard sand stone floor, wincing in pain.

"That is the last thing you should be concerned about." Akila replied without missing a beat. Just as the assassin had his own ways of doing things, the same applied to the guised male. Still, the select few tell-tale signs continued to replay in her mind. No one dared to approach Sefu like that or, if they did, they would explain why or what for. The look in his eyes and the feeling he'd given off, however, only added a stronger instinct something was off about him. But the true giveaway had been the sight of him licking his lips. There hadn't been any food around so it'd been a more than fair assumption that he was preparing to do something devious.

In this case, it had referred to taking away of a life. To be more exact, Prince Sefu's. Her peripheral vision caught the soon-to-be heir dart out of the room while her ears heard the hint there were more assassins around. Her eyes narrowed at that very knowledge. Even if she could have gotten an exact number of how many others were around out of the man, time was now against her. And the last thing that Sefu should be doing was being alone.

"Well ... you all but confessed. May Anubis weigh your heart appropriately." And with that, she pulled the khopeshes, beheading the man. It would have been done, even if not by herself. It was a bold verdict, yes. But anyone else in the room with decent hearing had heard the man and understood her actions. Sheathing the newly bloodied blades away, Akila darted out into the hall, sighing softly as she found that at least no one else had caught up with the young man.

"... Prince?" She inquired, kneeling beside him. "Are you alright?" At worst, he merely seemed very shaken up though Akila couldn't blame him. To see such a thing and live through it had to be incredibly terrifying. "Forgive me but you can't be alone. I was given the generous hint that there are more around. So if you don't wish to go back to the meeting, so be it. But now I really can't leave your side."

RE: The Answer Is Right Beside You (Yuna & Raitachi's 1x1)

The assassin smirked as Akil spoke, feeling no fear at the prospect of his impending death or remorse for his actions, he was not a man who shared the common faith, rather any faith at all, besides faith in his own abilities. He did not see himself as a man of his will; like everyone else in his order he believed that he was a tool of his masters will, and thus his heart could not be judged as a such, as his heart was not his own. He did not reveal this fact in his final moments however, chosing instead to mock his exectutioner rather then assist him more then he already did. His death at Akil's hand now would be a mercy compared to merely locking him up and his order catching up with him for failing his master.

A wide smile crossed his lips and he let out a feint chuckle as his life was taken away, his blood stained the floor as his head rolled to a stop before his body hit the ground, dead, an ironic end to his long career of murder.

Sefu groaned in pain rubbing his rear end gingerly, looking up as he heard Akil speak and tentitively smiled up at his body guard yes Akil I am fine" he replied, his voice ringing with annoyance as he tried to stand up, to no avail, his legs still jellified as he came to terms with what just happened, he was not frustrated with Akil but with the way his body felt unwilling to cooperate with him. He sighed looking back down at the leather sandals that wrapped around his feet "I almost died just now" he finally replied after a long awkward silence "now I really do owe you my life Akil" he turned to face the man knealing beside him "I am sorry for how I treated you this morning, I thought of you as a mere annoyance, a shadow my father put behind me because he still thought of me as a child, but I was wrong" he paused looking down again struggling to find the words to say, before giving up trying to think of anything more elegant, turning back to face him "Thank you."

The chuckle hadn't been at all expected. In fact, that assassin was far too calm. If Akila hadn't known better, she'd swear he'd had a staring contest with Anubis seconds before her blades removed his head ... and somehow won. Her head shook as she forgot of the eerie male. That was over and there were far more pressing matters to attend to.

The smile that she saw from Sefu helped snap the bodyguard from her thoughts. There was, at least, one thing she could silently thank the assassin for. He'd helped give the Prince a wake up call he desperately needed. Normally such tactics weren't ... a good thing. But gods help her, Sefu had seriously needed this, to take her and his own life far more seriously. And now, he did seem to get that much.

Upon noting his feet failing to cooperate, Akila quietly took an arm and let it rest upon her shoulder. She stood up and allowed him to use her body as a form of leverage so he could get to his own feet. "It's fine. Better to understand and see these things for yourself later than never. I can't say I'm content on how it was done ... but I am glad the message was given to you all the same. Now then .... "

Her eyes glanced around before looking back to Sefu. "Did you want to head back to your quarters? Or did you have another destination in mind?" Regardless, she had been given ample hints that the last thing the bodyguard should do was let the Prince be alone. If anything, she wondered if someone else should be assisting her keep an eye out for out of place figures within the palace. If nothing else, this would likely need to be reported, eventually, to the Pharaoh.

That made her inwardly sigh. He wouldn't like the news, she knew. Especially with him practically on his death bed. But of all the people that definitely had the right to know, the leader was certainly one. And not just because he ruled over Egypt, but the event had involved his only heir. Any father would want to know such news. Liking it, of course, was a completely different matter.

".... Or ... should we tell your father now?" She added after a slight pause, her ankles tensing. Regardless of his answer, Akila prepared to guide him wherever he desired.

RE: The Answer Is Right Beside You (Yuna & Raitachi's 1x1)

Sefu

Sefu thought for a moment allowing himself to be walked for a few steps before he felt confident enough to do so on his own, gingerly taking a couple of steps, his legs still shaking, but otherwise he felt fine enough to walk "thank you Akil but I should be fine to walk now" he stated thinking over his question. "Well after the meeting I was supposed to help train some of the new recruits but," he paused looking down at his hands, showing that they were still trembling from the shock he'd received earlier "I don't think I'm in any fit state to do that now."

He sighed, thinking over what his father might say about this, certainly remind him how lucky he was to have Akil there, he'd probably criticise his carelessness, and he'd then he'd probably scold Akil for not dispatching of the would-be assassin faster. Needless to say he did not want to hear it right now, "I think I just wish to go back to my quarters and rest for now Akil" he stated, wiping his brow.

The day had only just started and already it was hot beyond measure, Sefu was beginning to sweat, something he did not enjoy, it made him uncomfortable, even not wearing a cloth over his torso didn't help, small beads of the salty liquid still coated his chest in a fine sheen, which when he compared it to Akil, despite the fact he was mostly covered, did not seem to be sweating a drop, silently he wondered what his secret was, how did the heat not bother him? He understood that you could get used to it and you would hardly notice but this was something else entirely, but despite his questions, Sefu decided that it was probably just mild jealousy.

Truth be told, even Akila had nearly forgotten of him needing to train the recruits. But he was correct all the same. It was the last thing he was in proper shape - mental especially - to be doing. Despite the day hardly being half-way over, the tolls it had taken on both herself and Sefu seemed to be high. It could be in but a mere chair and still the concept of rest sounded great to her. In the end, that seemed to be what the Prince had wanted. His hand let go of Sefu's upon hearing he was well to walk on his own.

There wasn't really much of a secret for Akila, per se, on how her body had reacted. It did, though, seem to be something she had naturally adapted to. Even in a full uniform with a tunic concealing her chest and bandages underneath, she'd always been able to walk around pretty easily. Even during the worst months, she found herself almost never sweating. It'd been something Akila had sometimes pondered on getting seen about .. but no. Then they would know and have to report their findings to the Pharaoh and ... that likely wouldn't end well.

As they returned into Sefu's chambers, Akila leaned gently against a wall, keeping her ears and eyes alert still. It was a good sign that they had gotten here unharmed. But she was still very on edge with the threat of more assassins lurking about. Her hands rested near the handles of her blades, ready to grip them if needed once again. Her preference was to avoid it but she'd shown there would be no troubles in unsheathing them in order to protect the Prince with them.

RE: The Answer Is Right Beside You (Yuna & Raitachi's 1x1)

Sefu

Sefu breathed a sigh of relief when they finally made it back to his room, the walk was only about 5 minutes but it seemed to take forever, his legs making him feel much more vulnerable then he was letting on. He looked up at Akil who was now leaning against a nearby wall, feeling confident that he was close enough to protect him, he layed down on the bed, staring at the ceiling as he thought about the events that had already happened today.

He knew that Akil would have to tell his father about the assassination attempt, that was not his problem. He was also duty bound by his father to not leave Sefu's side, that was also not his problem. However if Akil did not report to the Pharaoh what had had happened, depending on his father's mood, his punishment may vary somewhere between execution or exile, this would be his problem, which meant that he had to go with him if he wanted to keep Akil as his body guard.

Letting out a sigh, Sefu looked down at his hands, they already appeared to be trembling far less then they were a short time ago. Sitting up he noted that he was no longer sweating as well, and it felt cooler, odd, usually it got hotter as the day progressed. "It must have been the shock" he thought, turning his attention to Akil, "we should go see my father before you get in trouble" he announced, gingerly getting to his feet.

This would be one of the few times that Akila wouldn't mind such a long pause without speaking. Sefu likely needed to think or at least calm himself. It would give the bodyguard ample opportunities to contemplate on what had just happened and how to go about things. If there were indeed more assassins, let alone ones that looked anything similar to the one she'd just caught, things would get harder from here on out. For all she knew, they may attempt to take up the appearance of another guard, maybe even one close to the Pharaoh to corrupt the leader and subtly coerce him into making bad decisions. All it took was one step in the wrong direction and Egypt could crumble in a heartbeat. It had been done before. There were few doubts it could occur again.

Not to say Akila wished for it. Oh no. But nowadays, anything really was possible.

The abrupt change in temperature made Akila look around with a frown on her face. Her arms rubbed along her shoulders and she could feel through the tightly wrapped bandages that her nipples were hardening. It made her incredibly uncomfortable, unnecessarily so in fact. But Akila didn't dare complain aloud, not wanting to explain why her chest was hurting slightly.

Her mouth had opened to ask if the Prince had noticed the cold sensations but before that could be mentioned, he requested to see the Pharaoh now. A small smile couldn't help but cross her face. It was good to hear that Sefu did indeed have a more generous side to him. It'd been revealed as he hinted why he wished to go now as opposed to later. Her head nodded as she gave a small bow.

"Very well." Letting him leave the room first, she pushed herself away from the wall and began to follow behind Sefu, staying a bit closer than usual. The knowledge that there were supposedly other assassins plus the odd temperature shift had her a bit on edge, especially the latter. That had definitely not been a normal occurrence. But somehow, it had happened regardless. She wanted to know how and why.

RE: The Answer Is Right Beside You (Yuna & Raitachi's 1x1)

Sefu

Sefu heading out the door and down the sand stone hallway towards the Pharaoh's chambers, noting that Akil was walking closer to him then he was earlier this morning. The assassin's words must have made him more paranoid then he was before he thought as they moved along the sun lit hallways he must have a lot on his mind, with what happened this morning. If indeed what they said was correct how was Akil alone going to handle round the clock bodyguard duties, as good as he was, he was only one man, he had to sleep, he had to eat, he might even have a family that he mind not get to see because of his duties, his father had to assign one or two more men to his side if he intended to protect his seat on the throne properly.

As they neared his father's chambers, the two soldiers that usually stood guard in front of his room approached them, staring menacingly at the pair as they stopped in front of them, not allowing them to pass. "Halt" commanded the leader of the two "you approach the chambers of our great Pharaoh Naeem, state your business or face the mercy of the gods" he commanded, clearly not recognising who he was talking to.

Not exactly paranoid, no. Though the words of the assassin had gotten Akila far more on edge than she was used to being. And similar to what Sefu may have been expecting, her mind was indeed quickly thinking. She understood the concerns that were flooding the Prince's mind, especially in regards to herself. But when push came to shove, she could usually endure almost anything. If that meant forcing herself to hold off on food, sleep, or both ... so be it. It'd be a pain but it wasn't impossible to maintain. Not forever anyways.

Her thoughts were halted as she heard the ignorant guards. A low scoff left her lips as her arms went over her concealed chest. "My, what manners you all have. I care not if you refuse to have them for me. But you will maintain them around Prince Sefu. We need to inform the Pharaoh of circumstances which just occurred recently."

Akila restrained herself from saying any actual details. And not just because they had been god-awful rude. But in her mind and eyes, they didn't need to know. However, if they really insisted on having the information, she would let Sefu speak for her. After all, this was but another lesson he needed to learn. There were indeed times when he could be the kind individual he usually was. But now required a change of pace to be a half-decent leader. He had all and every right to set these bastards in line if he so desired, regardless of how that was deemed appropriate enough in his mind and eyes. But that tone shouldn't be allowed for them to get away with using on him.

After all, ignorance wasn't much of an excuse anymore. And how in the hell hadn't they at least recognized the Prince? It baffled the bodyguard, very much so.

RE: The Answer Is Right Beside You (Yuna & Raitachi's 1x1)

Sefu smirked as her saw the entire body language of the two guards change in an instant because of Akil's words. First their eyes widened in shock, then they both took a timid step back before their eyes flew back to the prince, scanning his various features before they both dropped to the floor, hunched over their knees with their arms extended out in front, begging for his forgiveness "we apologise prince Sefu, please forgive us, we did not know it was you, we were only carrying out the order or your father the Pharaoh, told us to be suspicious of everyone, we meant no disrespect your highness-". The guards could have continued grovelling for hours longer but their words were silenced at the mere raising of Sefu's hand, who was tired of hearing their excuses, as they were beginning to give him a headache.

"Shut up" he ordered, waiting a few moments to see if they would try to speak up again, he did not want to be interrupted and have to repeat himself. Finally when he was satisfied that they were done with their whining only then did the prince speak "We are going through to see my father, my body guard and I have business with him" he stated without a hint of compromise in his voice "I care not about your ignorance, you may have been doing your job but you should really look before you leap in the future" he lectured, his voice cold and annoyed "or next time I'll push you off" he threatened before moving past them into the room where his father lay, not waiting for Akil to follow. His eyes fell on the now seated Pharaoh and he knealed before him "forgive me for our intrusion father but Akil brings you urgent news regarding his duties"

Akila didn't tend to be sadistic. But she couldn't help but feel that out-of-place emotion as Sefu put them in their place. It had been justified and well-deserved. Fucking idiots. Really, how did they not recognize the prince at least? It still was confusing her. Still, an eyebrow raised as they brought up that the Pharaoh had asked them to be suspicious of others. Had something almost happened to him as well? That wasn't something the ruler would have usually asked for any of the guards to do. So, she feared another assassin may have nearly gotten to him. The thought made her inwardly sigh.

Please let me be wrong ...

This would gladly be one of the few times that Akila wouldn't mind being incorrect. Her gut instincts tended, however, to be dead on. And sometimes, that was a blessing more than a curse. Though Sefu didn't wait, he didn't need to as she was more than eager to follow behind him. Not like she had any kind words to give the guards and she wouldn't dare press her own luck.

As the Pharaoh came into view, she sank to her knees alongside the Prince. Her head bowed slightly but not before noting he was sitting as opposed to lying down. Was his condition getting better somehow? Not that she wasn't glad. But why hadn't anyone told her of anything regarding this if it was true? Once again, alarms were resounding in her head. Something felt so very wrong with everything, from what the guards had said to the sight of the ruler.

Her head shook, causing raven locks to move to side to side as her focus went to the here and now. "My Pharaoh, there was an assassination attempt against Sefu in the war meeting. They dressed as if a general and hinted, before their execution, there may be more around. I know not if that refers directly to in the palace or just Egypt; but I have no intentions of taking that risk, regardless."

There had been no point in sugar-coating the news. She'd never done so before and wouldn't dare start now. Besides, even in his ill state, the Pharaoh was still a man of business. He'd want to know vital things like this sooner, not later. It was how he'd always had been.
