"It looks great," Charlie confirmed, smiling as she pulled her eyes from wandering about her surroundings and focused them on Jeremy. "I love the decor! You have good taste, Mr..." Here she laughed. "I just realised I don't know your surname. Mine is Rebroff—my dad is Ukrainian," she explained before her date could ask. Judging from her lack of an accent, the girl had never lived in Europe herself, and this was true: she'd been born in the United States, and had never left. When the waiter returned to take their orders, she requested duck with plum sauce, with noodles and vegetables in place of rice.
