in the realm of lust and seduction
it was an exciting Monday morning that greeted the students of a high school in the middle of nowhere. Birch High was the local high school of the village of Birchwood. A rather... bland name if one where to think of it, but it was a cute little town filled with friendly people. It was a new semester, and the students where all very excited because several new classes where being offered to those with a certain grade point average. These classes would look very good on a collage application, and some of the classes just plain out looked interesting. Like the new class which didn't really have a name, but dealt with Theology, Mythology, and Cryptozoology. A very interesting class indeed, especially since it was not being taught by any of the teachers they'd ever had before. This guy was completely new, and was only there for the one semester, for that one class... even more so, some of the students had already gotten a few glimpses of him, and had fancied themselves in love even as the rumors ran rampant. If rumors where to be believed, the new teacher was in his early twenties, lived alone in the middle of the massive woods that cupped the Village, and apparently he was drop dead gorgeous.

So that Monday was indeed full of excitement for those who where taking the beginners course to all things that where apparently not real. It was simply called The Unknown 101 and it was the stepping stones to actually taking specific courses. It was like a basic class that involved all the little branches, giving students a chance to see what aspect of the unknown they would rather research. Because there where only ten students taking the class, there was only one The Unknown 101 class a day. Giving the new teacher the easiest job ever. As the day drew to the last class, the students taking the class got more and more excited as they headed to their classroom, eager to see if the rumors where true or not. If the man was really as beautiful as everyone claimed he was. They wanted to know if his hair was really the color people said it was... the teacher wasn't there. Granted it was ten minutes before the class was due to start, but he still wasn't there five minutes to.. or three minutes... or one minute... many of the students where wondering if they had been elaborately pranked and a few where wondering if the teacher was too scared of kids to come in... they all jumped however, when the door swung open just as the bell rang and the teacher strode in with all the confidence and grace in the world.

“Good Morning Class.” his voice was rich, deep... sexy, and he really was as beautiful as everyone said. Despite being utterly gorgeous, he was still very masculine, and the girls almost aromatically fell in love.. and maybe one or two of the boys as well, people just weren't supposed to be that gorgeous. The teacher was fluid and walked with a silky grace that few could manage. As if he knew he was beautiful, knew he was powerful, and had all the secretes of the world. His hair was indeed that color, a soft grayish color that almost looked faintly purple in the light. It was also very long, reaching down to his hips, even with being pulled up into a ponytail and half bun. All the way down, it might easily have reached the floor. His eyes where a smokey gray color, that examined each student, as if searching their very souls for flaws. He was tall, and lean, and seamed to exude Sex and Dominance that wouldn't have looked out of place of a fantasy romance novel. He was also dressed in some very elegant clothing, which only heightened the idea that you wanted to be bent over the desk and taken like a slut in heat.

“I am River Ravewright.” the teacher intoned again. “This class is the beginners introduction to the study of Theology, demonology, cryptozoology, mythology, basically what that means is we discuss what the preconceived notions of what 'not real is' and will include things from God and the Devil, to various religions including Angels and Demons, to the myths all around the world such as the Japanese Kitsune, the Japanese Ogers, Dragons, and yes even Unicorn and the Under fey.” his eyes swept around the room again. “this is a Class, NOT a Religious highway in which you get to preach about your so called 'truth' and 'right religion'. The first time i hear someone say 'God says that's wrong' or 'There is no such thing as God' or even worse 'My God is the Only God' you will be kicked out of this class so fast you can't even begin to clap you're hands together in prayer, is that understood!?” he demanded. “if you cannot handle such a thing, then you will leave right now. I don't care for people blasting apart other peoples beliefs.” one girl, a known 'bible thumper' huffed and gathered her things, informed Mr. Ravenwright that he was going to burn in hell for his blasphemy, and left.

The Unknown 101. What a crazy class. Sebastian Franco was never one to take the normal classes, but at the same time, he would try to stick to those that he needed to take before anything else was done. For example, he had taken all of his math, English and sciences as quickly as he could with a few added histories into the mix before he took his dramas and more importantly the fun classes that he was really wanted to take. That was his plan for college as well, to get them all out of the way as quickly as he could. That left plenty of space for the stranger classes. Especially drama. Sebastian loved the stage and being up in front of people. It felt... right.

So when a class about Mythology came up on the offered class list, Sebastian would have been stupid not to grab that up and do everything he could to get into the class. Being a senior in the little sleepy town gave him the best chance to get into the class before any of the lower grades could get a chance. And to his luck, he got it. Maybe this year would go better than the last. It was his last year, last semester and last chance to make his family proud of him. His parents were at every turn of his life, but Sebastian never felt he was quite good enough for them and their approval, almost like he had to work with them and stress the fact that he had to work to impress them, work to make his life worth living there. Something deep down in his gut told him that it was something he had to do, no matter how many times they told him he was being 'silly' or that it didn't matter. As much as they made it known they loved him and loved to have him around and as their son, Sebastian had the moments that he felt down right awkward in his own home.

But being at school got him away from those thoughts for the most part, letting him think of what he had to do in the classroom and about his friends more than how his parents were doing at home or what they would possibly be thinking about... Distractions were a good thing, to him. He needed them or he was sure he would go crazy. And Birchwood didn't have many of them.

The red head was pleased to see that there weren't many students in the class when he arrived that first day, pausing just inside the door with his sweet blonde friend, Jessica. The girl's bright green eyes looked around the room with a smile and a sweet hum, finding the perfect seats; middle of the room exactly. Sebastian could rely on Jessica to do something crazy like that. Perfect way to get attention or avoid the teacher's eye, depending on who it was. No one was there at first, which gave Jessica plenty of time to entertain her fellow seniors with random bits of improvisation, pulling Sebastian into it from his seat in the room. It was a riot and lasted just until the bell ran and the teacher entered. Jessica was back in her seat in time for the chime to echo through the room and the door to swing open. The entire classroom fell silent at the sight of him.

"Unf," Jessica muttered in response to his voice, letting it wash over her with an intense interest. Sebastian watched the man glide into his position in front of the class, cocking an eyebrow slightly at the sight of him. It was rare for him to see someone so thin yet powerful... typically the soccer players of the school were the powerful ones he was drooling over, not really caring about the genders of the players. But this was one man he wouldn't mind seeing shirtless if the got the chance. The way his hair and eyes seemed to match made it true that there was no dying involved. And more importantly, it made Sebastian's own obnoxious fire red hair seem that much more probable and natural. He was used to comments about his hair and the amber colouring of his eyes, but this River man made him seem like that much less of a freak. The red head couldn't help but smirk at the idea. His powerful voice pulled every set of eyes to him, even the ones who didn't find him attractive. They were simply under his spell.

When he practically kicked the overly religious Ashley out, several of the male students, including Sebastian, gave fake salutes towards her an in a mocking chorus claimed "Amen, sister!" A typical ritual whenever she was ranting about her latest problem with people just to make her and the overly friendly Jesus freaks feel that much more uncomfortable about their speeches. He was going to like this class very much. Once she was gone, every eye turned back to the teacher, lingering on his next word to see just what direction this would turn.

River watched the girl leave and the subsequent salutes without expression before he addressed the class again. "you will not mock her for her religious Zeal in front of me again or there WILL be detentions. everyone is well within their right to follow their own beliefs. granted, some people are exceptionally annoying about their own beliefs..." he admitted simply. "i will not stop you from telling her 'what for' should she start to pressure you or talk too much, but i will not have someone mocked for their religion in this classroom." he stated sternly. "now then. we will start with something simple today, something that i know you all have a very good understanding of already... Dragons." he stated, his lip twitching into a grin as people exclaimed in surprise. "yes, as i said, we will be studying mythology as well. though some feal that dragons belong in the Cryptozoology section instead, since there are so many documented cases. though, none in the last several hundred years." he admitted. "all cultures have basic beliefs and ideas that they uphold. every culture has various creatures that exist. even in the America's you will find them. such creatures such as the Wendigo in northern states, the Hudsun River Monster, Big Foot, even the Boogyman... these are cultural references to you're american heritage. even the Jackalope is part of the american culture." here he got a few giggles.

"in almost every single culture, throughout recorded history, there has been several things that are always consistent. Gods, Spirits, and mythological creatures. of all of those cultures, the Dragon, or the flying serpent, is the most common. you can find stories of Dragons in almost every culture, even the Ancient Egyptian, and even in the Bible there are what some people claim to be hints of Dragon like creatures. people like the Ancient Mayan's and the Aztec actually worshiped them as deities... and in China and Japan, Dragon's where used as a sign of royalty and noble stature depending on the number of toes on it's paws. there is even a legend that says as the dragon moved from Japan to China... or China to Japan, it lost, or gained several toes." he admitted simply. "in China, if you wore a Dragon on you're clothing, or you're flag, and it had the wrong number of toes according to your station, you would be put to the death. even the native American's had stories of Dragons, and would often pray to them for spiritual guidance." River admitted. "it is a strange thing for so many cultures, way back in the days when traveling from continent to continent was not only unheard of, but impossible, how could there be stories of dragons on every single one of them?" he asked, looking amused as he saw completely baffled expressions on each of their faces.

"now, many Mythologists, suspect that Dragon stories actually stem from the discovery of dinosaur bones." he admitted suddenly. "back in those days, they did not know about fossils, if they found a skull, a skeleton, a petrified footprint, they automatically assumed that it was real and had recently happened. as most people do, they came to the most logical conclusion they could, and assumed it was a dangerous monster, who would begin to hunt them down and eat them. even in the Victorian days, they where finding 'dragon bones' and in China, they still use 'Dragon Bones' in some of their medications and remedies. they will go out, dig up a dinosaur fossil and grind it into powder... which can actually be very dangerous." he warned. "Sir? what about Dragon's stealing virgin maidens? where do you think that came from?" there was a breif pause after the question when suddenly someone else shot their hand up. with a wave of the hand to indicate Robert could continue, the boy gave his own theory. "it was a conspiracy! if one of the ladies of court was murdered, or killed accidentally, or raped or kidnapped they'd blame a dragon so as to not get in trouble!" River raised an eyebrow and Robert flushed violently. "that's a theory i haven't heard before. very well done." River admitted, sounding oddly impressed, poor Robert looked rather stunned. "now then, tonight i want you each to look into Dragon Legends. i don't care where you find the information and whether you think it's a real legend or not. go online, read a Harry Potter book.. write down the Legend... and yes, you can make it up, i won't know the difference anyway.... and bring it to class tomorrow..." here he paused. "you have ten minutes left before the bell rings so you can either sit here and do whatever you want or go to the library." he stated, indicating that class was done for the day. "does anyone have questions before i forget to ask?" "are you single!?" this was blurted out so suddenly that River almost fell flat on his face and he stared at the girl who had said it. Tamica, another senior. she had her hands clapped to her mouth and her face was as red as a firetruck and finally River blinked. "i do not have a life partner at this time, no." though now people where wondering what he meant by life partner.

Sebastian instantly shut up when the group was scolded for their actions and listened to the man just as the rest of the class did. They listed rather intently to him and a few people, including the red haired teen, began to scribble down notes of whatever came from their teacher's mouth. It sounded as if he really knew what he was talking about, which was a wonderful thing to many of them. It meant that he had gone to some sort of school to learn this information and wasn't just some Joe Blow the school found off the street to teach the class. They already thought that of one of the math teachers, but that was another story entirely. This man looked like a proper teacher, no matter how young he really seemed to be. Intelligence didn't care about ages, after all. You knew what you knew and no one could tell you other wise in the end. Dragons was a strange topic to start on, but no one questioned his choice. And the homework was easy enough. It wouldn't take too long to write up and hand in. In fact...

As soon as River gave the assignment, Sebastian went to work. He remembered having dreams of several of the creatures the man had mentioned earlier in his lesson, but when it came to dragons, he remembered them quite well. Halls of draconian guards filled his mind, urging and pushing on him to draw out what he saw on a simple piece of notebook paper. The ceiling started at the top of the paper, sketched out in pencil, matching the grand hall of a palace he seemed to remember from his most vivid of dreams. Almost like he had seen it before... but that was completely insane. He had never left Birchwood in his entire life. It could only have been a dream.

While students were asking River the craziest of questions; where did you go to school, have you ever wanted children, do you really live as a hermit, Sebastian was working on the assignment. His paper was lined with the large columns of the hall with a short, yet in depth story describing the myth behind his dream-dragons. And at the bottom, several small creatures and guards were drawn out, dwarfed by the pure size of the hall around them. It took almost no time at all to finish, as his hand wrote out the words almost without thinking. Jessica stared at her friend while he worked, eyes wide with how quickly he was moving. He had never been so into a class before in his life or wanted to work so quickly on a topic. She was listening to the rest of the room, unlike her red-headed friend, and glanced up a few times towards River, watching him and the responses he was getting from the student's questions.

By the time the bell rang, Sebastian had finished his work. He glanced up towards the clock on the wall above the door and sighed, looking back at the page before he closed his notebook and slid it into his bag.

"Going to see the game tonight?" Jessica asked as she rose from her desk.

"Gotta get home," her friend responded, glancing up at her with a faint smile. "Dad's birthday today, remember? No way I can miss that. He was heartbroken when I missed it last year."

"Oooh right..." The blonde sounded slightly disappointed with the teen's choice, but she didn't fight it. She knew his family came first before anything. "Well I'll see you tomorrow right? For more crazy creature class."

Sebastian laughed and stood up, slinging his bag over his shoulder. Most of the students had left by that point, trying to race out of the school as quickly as possible. Sebastian and Jessica seemed to be taking their time though. "Yeah, more creature class." His bright eyes turned towards the closest window to him and he frowned. "It's snowing," he complained, looking quite upset with the new semester winter weather. He shook his fist towards the panes of glass in an over dramatic fashion. "Damn you, snow gods! Curse you and your timing."

Jessica laughed and slapped her friend on his back. "You're going to upset them!" she complained, still laughing. "Let's go, idiot. Yell at the weather later." She started towards the front of the room and gave a smile towards the teacher. "Ignore him," he suggested as an offhanded comment. "Seb's just a dork."

The red head followed along down his own row with a lopsided grin. "But I'm a loveable one. Nice class, prof." He gave him a small salute. "This'll be the most fun yet."

River answered each question without concern. he was home schooled and took a 'traveling collage' course... which basically meant he traveled all over the world in one massive museum tour. yes he would like children someday, when he had a bit more of a stable life. yes he lived out in the woods, he was more comfortable there. no he was not a 'sex god' and if they called him that again they where getting expelled. yes he owned a car, no he didn't like the unbearable god awful winters they had there, yes he had enough sweaters to keep him warm. no he was NOT having a housewarming party at his place and he CERTAINLY wasn't supplying the booze. he preferred classical music and soft jazz and no he didn't care that he was 'boring'. yes he had heard of the Twilight books, no he was never going to read them again and mentioned something about an 'accident' with the paper shredder after he'd bought his own copies and red them. yes he had read the Harry Potter stories, in fact the Grim is actually a well known 'Ghost Story' in the British isles. though it is usually called a 'Black Dog'. yes they would be covering various 'elvish folklore' in their lessons. no he was not going to convert the school into atheism and no he was not going to sign her books. he was a teacher, not a rockstar.

and then, thankfully, the bell rang and only Sebastian and Jessica could hear his sigh of relief as the last few 'crazies' finally left. "..." he had to chuckle at the two who where left. Crazy creature class? well that was a good name for it, since he was dealing mostly with creatures that 'didn't exist'. "Ah, you know of the Winter Spirits?" he asked when Sebastien cursed, a sly smirk on his face. "actually, i beleive they would be more entertained with his brash annoyance." he admitted, flashing them a grin. "it is Sebastian and Jessica, correct? you two don't take the bus?" he asked, glancing outside to see people crawling onto the big yellow monstrosities. "horrid things those are. no seat-belts..." he muttered, scowling at the buses, clearly not in the least bit happy with the 'safety' of those things. "and they could tip over at any moment... it's worse than being on a plane if you ask me..." here he paused. "well no. nothings worse than being on a plane, but that's besides the point." he admitted as he glanced at them. "planes are rather horrible. i had to take one to get here... never fly on a plane." he stated simply. "it is much more worth it to take a boat. even if it takes twice as long... at least with a boat you can survive a crash... with a plane? there's nothing but fiery doom." apparently Sebastian wasn't the only Dork.

"now then, you two should get going." he warned, shaking his head as he glanced at his watch. "i have a meeting i'm late for... not that i care, they can wait for me. i don't even want to be there." he admitted with a grin. "that will teach them." he stated as he packed up his class notes and headed out the door, humming a foreign song. when Sebastian headed out for the entrance though, he would find a single old book laying on the floor with the name 'River Ravenwright' Stamped across the bottom. a personalized Journal, you didn't see many of those. if Sebastian where to look inside, he would get the shock of a lifetime. right there, in the middle of the book, with a corner turned down so the page wouldn't get lost, was the very exact same room he himself had sketched, only from a different angle... and a different creature. sitting on either side of the throne where two massive dragons, and in the throne was an almost normal looking man... normal, yes but you could feel the power he emanated even through the pages. it was an excellent drawing, though not as well done as Sebastian's had been it was still too accurate to his dreams to be a coincidence.

Jessica shrugged her shoulders. "We'd rather walk," she told the teacher, seeming to hate the idea of taking a bus just as much as the teacher thought about taking a plane. At least they were on the same level on that idea. And she couldn't help but smile and laugh at the idea of him skipping a meeting simply because he didn't want to go. "I guess teachers could play hooky as well, huh?" She started out of the room after the man and gave a small wave towards her friend before starting off towards her locker.

Sebastian trailed behind slightly at the sight of the notebook and leaned down to pick it up, flipping through it quickly, only to stop on the familiar looking page. He froze and looked over it, looking at not only the detail but the figures inside of the picture. They looked like they could possibly step out of the page they were so real. And exactly what he saw in his dreams. Something was strange here and he felt the need to find out what it was. River had stated that he didn't want to go to the meeting. Perhaps he could take a minute to explain to him why there was a picture of the exact thing that Sebastian dreamed about so many times. He looked at a few other pages before being drawn back to the middle to look over again as he left the room. The teacher was still in the hall when he got out and the teen broke into a brisk walk to catch up with him.

"Mr. Ravewright," he called before he lost track of the man completely. "You dropped this. Sorry, I didn't mean to look through it, it just sort of... opened." He held up the page, his eyes lingering on it before he looked towards the indigo-haired man in front of him. "What is this?" he asked, gesturing towards the drawing. "I just sat in your class and sketched out the same room... I've had dreams about it." He paused for a moment, looking over River carefully before pushing forward. "What does it mean? More than just a happenstance, right?" It had to be. It was too exact to just be something that happened to be the same.

"You must know what it is..."

River paused as his name was called and blinked as he realized that Sebastian was holding his book. he patted his jacket pocket, looking startled, he hadn't realized that he'd dropped it. "yes it has a tendency to do that." River admitted with a smile before he paused and looked over the page that had caught the others attention. "..." only to be entirely shocked. was it really that easy!? had he REALLY found the little lost prince!? it simply COULDN'T be that easy... but then... the book had known, it always knew... it was keyed to the lost prince after all. River had written it just for him... well this journal had been written just for the little prince anyway. "it is my home." River explained simply, his smoke colored eyes fixed entirely on Sebastian. as if trying to understand some great puzzle. "i have a meeting i have to be in unfortunately... and they're already pretty furious with me for being so late." he admitted, wrinkling his nose a little. "but after that i am completely free..." he admitted, hesitating. this could get him into trouble of course, if someone thought he was doing 'improper things' with Sebastian, meeting him outside of the school as it where... but River had been looking for Sebastian for over seventeen years now... "if you would be willing to wait an hour? i should be done with that Nyx blasted meeting by then..." he admitted, glaring out the window. "and curse the Ever Frost-lands for weather like this." he grumbled before shaking his head. "i'll meet you here and explain... or if you would rather we could go to your, or my house. whatever is more comfortable for you..." although... if he was able to speak to the parents as well? he was going to have to tell them...

"we had better make it your house." River decided. "your parents will need to know too. why don't you go home and have them call me?" he asked, digging through his bag and pulling out a slip of paper and a pen, quickly writing down his number. "have them call me so we can set up a meeting." River instructed, handing Sebastian the number he had written down. "if they ask why i need to meet with them... tell them it's about who you are..." here his face softened. "or rather, who your parents are.." he wasn't sure if Sebastian knew he was adopted or not, and he didn't want to hurt the boy. if he didn't know he was adopted, he'd simply assume his adopted parents where spies or some equally silly notion... if he did know, then he knew that River knew his birth parents. either way, River knew Sebastian was severely curious. "you can keep the book, i wrote it for you after all." he admitted, setting the book into the others hands again. "you won't be able to read it yet, it's written in a very old language." he admitted. "i'll teach you how to read that later. but the pictures should prove entertaining enough for now." River promised before biting back a curse as he looked at his watch again. "i really am sorry Sebastian, i have to go... have your parent's call me!" he ordered before leaving. Sebastian didn't even have time to protest.

the book was well worth the wait however. it was true Sebastian couldn't read it, the letters where all weird, some flowing and curvy and some sharp and angular. like the difference between a circle and a square. there where dots, and hash marks and strokes ad funny little symbols all over the place. but the pictures! there was a prancing, beautiful Unicorn, which didn't look like a horse at all. it looked more like a deer with a horn. there was pictures of plants that moved on their own, and portraits of people who looked at him with stern affection and shared his looks. that man had his nose, that woman had his eyes, that man had the very same slight simple on his cheek... relatives maybe? there where other pictures too, some of Dragons, one of a cute little thing that looked like a mix between a Dragonfly and a Toy Ballerina. there where water creatures, and at one part, there was a list of different sorts of bows to various people. etiquette no doubt. then here where the places that where drawn. a massive mountain with a single Dragon flying overhead, so far away it almost looked like a bird. a massive waterfall that fed into a single small pond that had no river connected to it. a single tree so massive it took up an entire page, the entire thing covered in funny markings. it was remarkable.

Sebastian stared at his teacher as he spoke at what seemed to be a rapid pace, trying to explain yet not explain what it was all at the same time. He began to but stopped to decide it was better to include his parents. What did his parents have to do with it? Sebastian took the number from River and looked at it for a second, still holding the book out to the man before he started to walk away, leaving the student alone in the hallway with only a strange book and a paper with a number on it. Sebastian didn't have a second to get a word in at all and was left staring at the space where River once stood. Jessica came to join him seconds later, looking all sorts of confused and nudging him gently.

"Seb?"

The red head continued to stare before he looked towards his friend, a worried and curious expression stuck on his face. "Let's go home," he requested, quickly slipping the paper into the book and putting it all into his bag. "Quickly." The two started out of the school and down the main street before either one could bother to look back. Something was up and Sebastian needed to get home to talk to his parents about it. What did River mean he 'made it for him'? He didn't even know who the guy was other than what the class had tried to discover. But how much of that was a lie? How could this place be his home? Sebastian was confused and nothing Jessica could say or joke about made it better. The two parted at the proper points and made it home, texting each other to make sure they had, just as they always did.

It was quite obvious that Sebastian was adopted by his parents, thanks to the drastic difference in hair colours they couple had compared to their son. But to have it confirmed was something else entirely. And frankly it frightened Sebastian to no end. He didn't seem human half the time and River didn't exactly look it either. That picture proved there were things out there in the world that should exist. Sebastian was home alone for a good hour before either of his parents got home, but as soon as his mother was back, he grabbed onto her and hugged her like it was the end of his life. Without much explaining, he pushed the paper into her hand and told her to call the number. That someone needed to talk to her and her husband. His mother looked just as worried as Sebastian was and quickly called the number offered to her to set up a meeting time; four o'clock sharp. That night. If it was that important, it needed to be discussed as soon as possible.

The whole time his mother was one the phone, the teenager was sitting on the couch, looking over the writing in the book, staring at each picture on every page and admiring the writing. Whatever the situation was that he got this book, if it was really written for him or not, it was a beautiful work of art. River had spent plenty of time on it and it was something that had to be treasured with every ounce of care. And it moved... Sebastian ran his fingers carefully over the pages, tracing the lines of the people's faces as if they held the secrets to everything. They looked so much more like him than his parents ever did. It was almost terrifying how similar they looked. But in the end, Sebastian closed it up and leaned against the very woman who had raised him, waiting for his father to come home and for his teacher to arrive. Whoever this 'River Ravewright' was, he had answers that they all needed.

River actually ended up having to claim snap and snarl to get out of the meeting. the Phone call had filled him with an elation, and a terror that he really could have done without. he forced himself to calm down using a combination of martial arts training, Yoga meditation, and self hypnotism. he took in a deep breath as he stared at the men who worked for him, informing them that they could now go home, and ignoring the startled expressions. to go home meant that River had found the prince... Dead, or alive they still didn't know. he informed them all to tell no one, and the meeting disbanded when a question filled the room with a warning growl that very few dared to challenge. River didn't look it, but he was very, very powerful. had to be if he was the personal guard to the little prince. he had failed then, he wouldn't fail now, and it was with a deep calming breath that found River in his house, gathering certain things. a book about Demon Hierarchy and politics, a Photo Album, and baby blanket. with that he felt it was moderately alright to go to the homestead of the Little Prince. the elder Franco parent's where going to be just as shocked as Sebastian was.

he rang the doorbell and smiled as the door was open, looking rather nervous. "Good Afternoon. my name is River Ravenwright." he stated softly. he waited until he was let in, not wanting these people to think he was threatening in any way, and took a seat where they indicated. a plushy chair that was well outside of snatching range of any of them. he had to physically restrain himself from bowing to Sebastian and offering his unyielding and unending loyalty. "Sebastian, i know this is all probobly very shocking to you, but i have been looking for you since the day you where kidnapped." River stated with a small grimace. "you see. when you where very tiny, not even a year old, some men broke into your home.." here he tapped the journal, which he had polity asked for, opening it up to the massive throne room. "this is my home, and it was yours as well." he admitted. "i was your guard at the time, but somehow the kidnappers knew exactly how to beat me. i was in the healers for a week after that." he admitted with a small scowl. "they wanted to be absolutely certain that i couldn't follow. they did stop at death though..." he admitted, shaking his head. "as soon as the healers... oh alright, i snuck out of the Healers and immidiatly began searching for you. all i found was the men who kidnapped you." River admitted.

"this is where my knowledge of what happened goes... foggy." he admitted. "you see, the kidnappers where afraid that i might find them, so they shoved you into the hands of the nearest humans they found. threatened them with death if they didn't take care of 'the brat' and left. from what i have been able to find out, the poor teenager who had been handed the baby and panicked and laid you on a park bench and fled, she was all of thirteen so... please don't think too badly of her. after that you where found by a local D... er, Policeman and taken to an orphanage... which, from what i understand, transferred you to another state, they assumed you where the local Drug Lords child, and wanted to keep you safe..." his lip twitched into a smile. "i have to say, it worked very, very well. as long as i couldn't find you, i knew the local 'bad guys' couldn't either." he admitted. "as long as you where happy, healthy, and safe, i was content in knowing that my attempts to find you where not in vain." he admitted. "now we get to the... stranger parts of this story." River admitted, looking hesitant. "i know you won't really beleive me..." he admitted. "but that's what the Photo Album is for." he admitted, sliding it over to the family.

"You are not human Sebastian." River explained softly as the Photo Album was flipped open. inside was hundreds of pictures. there was a hundred foot tall Dragon, there was a tiny boy with goat legs. there was a baby Sebastian, held lovingly in the arms of two people, who had the same exact coloring as Sebastian, bright smiles on their faces as they cooed at Sebastian, and behind them was a pouting River, who didn't look like he had changed even a little bit from the seventeen years he had been hunting. well, his hair was longer now, but that was about it. there where people with wings, people with horns, people who probobly should put some clothes on. there where lots of Dragon Pictures, and one single snapshot of a single person who looked like an older Sebastian... only he just oozed power and danger. he was standing before the throne, his head held high, his eyes flashing with concealed fury, and you almost wanted to tremble, even with the man holding a sleeping Sebastian. "this, Sebastian, is your blood father." River explained. "The King of all the Demon realms."

Sebastian's parents were welcoming to his newest teacher, although confused. The semester had just started, how was their son in trouble already? Either way, they were polite and welcoming to the man, offering him a place to sit, something to drink, everything that was needed to be a helpful and polite host. Sebastian remained quiet in his seat between his mother and father, choosing to listen in silence rather then try to interrupt the man. He had several books with him, all of which quickly drew the red head's eyes towards them, only to let his gaze drift once he started to speak. He listened to the teacher's every word, unsure if he was going to believe it or not, but he listened. To the very end of his story. That was the only way that Sebastian could see it; a crazy fairy tale that seemed more unreal than he could ever imagine.

River had told him about the apparent shard home, the insane story of how Sebastian was kidnapped and River escaped a hospital to get to him and try to find him. Sorry, not a hospital, 'the healers'. Healers? Like something out of a fantasy novel. And as the story went on, Sebastian was just waiting for River to start laughing and confess it was all a joke or tell him he was a wizard. After all, the teen had missed his Hogwarts letter the first time around. Maybe he was finally here to deliver it...?

His parents looked to be a bit off about the whole story, like they didn't believe it and more importantly like they didn't want the stranger to be there any more. But they let him stay, waiting to hear exactly where this was going and what the final point would be. The idea of a thirteen year old girl getting a child was flat out unbelievable to them, but they had in fact picked Sebastian up from an orphanage, which they knew didn't have much of a record for him before the police picked him up. So perhaps River was right about all of that. When the album was offered out to their son, Sebastian's father reached forward to take it and hand it to his son, setting it in his lap to open up the front cover.

Strange part indeed... Sebastian's eyes widened at the first few pictures. They looked like drawings, but they were too lifelike to be drawn, no matter what the person's skill level was. It was something that someone could dream up and draw, but the look the man held in his eyes, how they dug into their own souls even through the image... it was terrifying. Sebastian's parents both backed away in favour of looking towards the stranger just to get their attention away from the large man in front of them.

But Sebastian kept his eyes on the man. This man certainly wasn't human... but he looked like Sebastian. The woman had the same look and in fact, his mother shared several of the same features. There was no denying they were related somehow. His breath caught in his chest at the man's final words. Plenty of times in his life, Sebastian felt as if he didn't belong in this world. He knew he was adopted, but he didn't know much about his past. No more than his parents did. For the most part, he didn't mind not knowing what had happened to him before his parent adopted him. But to find out he was a prince...?

Or that's what River said. There was no proof of it... And his parents didn't feel as if they were really trusting the man.

"Don't tell him these lies," Jackson half hissed. He didn't want to hear his son being fed anything that could possibly be seen as false. His arm wrapped around Sebastian, pulling him closer as the boy continued to stare at the picture. "A prince? I'm sorry, but that's unbelievable. There's no solid proof of this."

"What is he then?" Deana asked, looking at River, trying to give him a chance. "If he isn't... human." She began to rub her son's back, dropping her eyes down towards him to get a look at his expression. His dumbfound, clueless expression. Jackson began to argue with Deana, refusing to believe that anything like that was true. It didn't last long before Sebastian stepped forward to stop them both.

"How am I here then?" he asked, looking straight at River. The two adults beside him quickly fell silent. "How is this my father? I..." He paused for a moment before standing up, his eyes darkening with fear as he held his hands out beside him. "I look human. Look at me. I'm human. I've never looked like that. And I'm not a prince. No way, no how."

River sighed a little as he realized that the parents weren't buying it, and he worried that he was going to have to reveal himself. he wasn't sure he could do that without the two parents trying to kill him. "they are not Lies." River stated simply, his eyes flicking up to Jackson, his smoke colored eyes examining the man's gaze as if curious. "i cannot be entirely certain that Sebastian is the missing Prince, but i am around ninety percent certain. you see that journal, was made specifically for Sebastian. it is tied to his blood, and reacts to his presence. it slipped itself free of my pocket to meet him..." River admitted with a smile as the journal suddenly snapped shut, all on it's own. "i won't be able to touch it again without Sebastian's permission, and even then i will be unable to read anything he doesn't wish for me to see. it's not exactly sentient, rather it reads it's owners conscious desires." he admitted. "and there is proof, i am just afraid of my own untimely death if i show it to you." he admitted with a small smile as he glanced at Deana. "Sebastian is a 'higher' being of sorts. he is one of the most powerful creatures that will ever walk the plains of earth and Hel... and no i don't mean that silly thing they speak of in the Bible. this is an honest Realm, the Realm od Demons." he admitted. "and before you get all bent out of shapes, these Demon's are not like in the Bible either." he promised.

"What do you mean how are you here? i told you, you where kidnapped. upon entering the Human Realms your Demonic bloodline reacted tot he 'mortality' in the air... for lack of anything better to call it, and basically sealed itself in your DNA... like a recessive Gene." he explained. "but instead of being able to turn your hair from blond to brown like other recessive genes, this gene makes you human, or Demon. from what i understand, our two separate species share very common blood, and sometimes two demons will give birth to a human child, just like two humans can sometimes give birth to demons. our genetics are incredibly compatible, making it very easy for a Demon's genetics to go into a form of Dormancy, leaving them remarkably human." here River paused. "still, you may have noticed... oddities." he admitted. "touching a very hot stove and not getting burned. falling down and scraping a knee, only to have the injury gone the next morning. some 'Newborns' have been known to literally climb walls." he admitted with a small snicker. "where do you think that story of Emily Rose comes from?" he asked, looking highly amused. "i doubt Sebastian has done something so flashy though, he's not as spoiled as Emily was... Thank Nyx for that..." he muttered that last part under his breath.

"in any case, upon your eighteenth birthday, your blood will recognize you as an 'adult' and capable of protecting yourself, and your demonic genes will awake with the full ferocious force of a caged lion." he admitted. "it is different for everyone. some find it the most agonizingly painful experience of their lives... others find it so pleasurable that they..." he paused and coughed. "... right, you're still a kid... in any case, yours will probobly be somewhere in between those two extremes." he admitted pulling something out of his bag and handing it to Jackson. it was a birthing record. "Demon's don't usually name their children until they are between the ages of one and two, when personality really starts to shine through, so Sebastian wasn't named by the time he was kidnapped." he admitted. "Names are very powerful to Demon's, exceptionally powerful, so once he was named, that will always be his name." here he smiled. "and you named him very well i might add." he admitted with a nod. "Demon's are also very socially run, we are not a 'blood based' society the way humans seam to be. in our society, you raised Sebastian, so you are, without a doubt, his parents." River promised them. "we're not looking to take Sebastian away from you, i doubt he'd let us if we tried." he admitted.

"the truth is, if Sebastian had been anyone else, he would have changed, and a normal, every day Demon 'Social Worker' would have shown up, explained things, and let you and him decide on your own what paths to take... but because Sebastian is the crown prince... and the only Crown Prince i might add, he is the only one who can take the throne should anything happen to the King." River explained. "the Throne will not accept anyone but the Noble Blood, and without a King the Demon realms would collapse. it is very important that Sebastian is protected, and trained to accept his role in the Demon realms... i doubt he will need to claim the Throne for another five hundred years or so... but things can happen... and there is also..." here he hesitated, uncertain. "they did not raise you, but they loved you so very much." River admitted softly. "they where so upset after your kidnapping that they couldn't even try to give you a little brother or sister." he admitted. "Isabelle still hasn't recovered from the loss of her only child... and i truly hope you will at least give them a chance to know you." he admitted, a flicker of worry in his eyes as he studied the family of three. "you two will always be his parents... but they are his parents too. and they have been desperate for any hint of him for almost seventeen years."

Jackson was ready to argue again about something... whatever came to mind. He wasn't even sure. He just wanted his voice to be heard and for everyone to know how upset he was about this. If they were royals, why was it only now that they found their son? Powerful creatures like them should have been able to find him so much earlier than this, shouldn't they? Were they really looking? Did they really want him? "Who are you in this whole thing then?" he manged to get out before Deana set her hand on his shoulder to softly silence him. That was the most she could do at this point. If her husband wanted to speak, she couldn't stop him before he let his words make a difference to what was happening in the room. "And why are you just finding him now? If he really is a crown prince, why did it take this long? Are your all powerful royals really unable to find their own child?" And they weren't even sure that Sebastian was their child... that was what made it worse, in Jackson's mind.

But while Deana couldn't stop her husband, Sebastian tried. "Does it matter?" he asked, turning to look at the man still sitting beside him. "If what he says is true, then at least they found me, right? You've always said that there's a chance that my birth parents would want to meet and see me. Why is it so wrong now that they want to?" He was ready to complain and toss his words back on him as soon as he could, but he wanted to give this a chance. No matter how crazy it sounded. His ruby eyes turned to the journal sitting on the table in front of him. He watched it for a moment before glancing to River and lifting it up, cracking the pages open with ease. This would be an easy test to see if at least what River was saying about the journal was true. After that, there was a better chance that the rest of it would be believable.

He handed it out to him, closed and spine side towards him. The 'prince's' eyes turned to look over River instead of the book. "Open this," he instructed, watching his every action. He didn't want him to, just to prove to himself that what the man was saying was true. He had seen small oddities like River had mentioned such as the stove or the small injuries healing, but that wasn't enough in his mind to prove it. He didn't have much proof in the whole thing that he really was a demon like the man was telling him. And his eighteenth birthday was coming up. And fast. He wanted this worked out before then so he knew what he may get into. "If you can't open it, no matter how hard you try... then I suppose I can begin to believe you..." He paused for a moment to look over the man carefully.

"I'd rather not have me ripping things apart on my birthday because of something stupid like this..."

River nodded at Jackson's worry. "you are under the assumption, that we are able to find any human we desire. we don't have such technology as... what do you call it? DNA? yes DNA, we don't have that... well we do but we don't know how to use it or anything." he admitted. "we rely on other senses to keep us connected. the young Prince is, under all examples, completely and utterly human. there was no way for us to track him until very recently, when his repression started to crack... think of it as looking for an egg." he stated calmly. "you can't find it under the chair, because there is no indication at all until it starts to stink. and even then it is only a very faint smell, one you might not even recognize. it's only when the shell cracks, and the smell fills the entire house can you find it..." he paused for a moment. "...that might be a bad example..." he admitted. "but you get the jist of it. until recently, there was simply no way for us to know where he was, i had to spread everyone i had at my disposal about, looking for any hint at all of the Little Princes scent. once found, i came here and located his scent myself... i wasn't sure if i would be able to tell which human was him though, so i took a teaching position knowing he would be in high school, especially because his scent was all over the school, especially in the Drama stage room." River explained. "i never expected it to be... so easy! almost seventeen years of constantly tracking down false leads..." he shook his head.

"i assure you, your Blood Parents DO want to know you Sebastian... but i have to stress the fact that they will be well aware that you already have parents. we don't want to upset your life anymore than it already has been..." he admitted softly before blinking as he looked at the book he had been handed, shuddering as he was ordered to open it, looking almost... frightened as he examined the book. "..." he glanced at the other. "that is... not quite how the book works..." he admitted looking rather nervous. still... he took the edge in his hand and moved to open it, and yelped violently as the book opened and snapped hard onto the man's hand and worried it like it was a dog protecting a bone. River yelped and shook his hand violently, trying and failing to get his fingers free of the book, which showed no desire to stop damaging the flesh it had gotten a hold of. it dropped to the ground as soon as Sebastian consciously thought about it, and River whined and started licking at his bleeding hand, which was covered in paper cuts. "because i am fully aware of the book, and aware of what it is, it will attack me... same as it will attack anyone else who tries to sneak a peak without your permission... if a human, or someone who honestly doesn't know what it is or what it does tries to open it, it just won't open." River admitted, watching with a sulk as the tiny cuts closed over right before their eyes.

"oh, no no iy's not like you're personality or mental functions are going to change because of this Sebastian. your still going to be you, you're just going to have a few added bonus's... heightened senses and enormous strength are part of it. after you're genetics settle, you'll probobly be able to bench press my car." he admitted with a small smile. "there is a reason why you're bloodline has ruled supreme over the Demon Realms after all. some Demons do change in appearance, though usually not by much, and a few do grow extra appendages... your paternal grandfather for example, has two very impressive horns on his head. very large black ones... kind of like an antelope. he received no end of teasing when he reached the 'Age' and grew horns." River admitted with a small snicker even as he continued to lap the blood off of his hand. almost like a cat.

Despite knowing it would hurt him, River went ahead with the action. Sebastian stared and picked up the book as soon as it dropped, cradling it to his chest for a moment before he set it down and grabbed a few tissues. They weren't the best for a wound, but it was something to help sop up the blood now resting on his hand. "I'm sorry. I didn't know," he mumbled, falling to his knees as he began to wipe up and pat down his hand, trying to get as much of the ruby liquid off of his skin as he could. Sebastian felt horrible for his 'order' simply because the man didn't refuse. He just did it for him. And he was healing before his eyes, which was something he could add to his list of 'believable material'. "I'm sorry," he mumbled again, a certain compassion in his voice that he was known for in the school. He glanced back over his shoulder towards the journal yet again before turning to look at his parents still sitting on the couch. "Could we have a moment?"

The two adults waited in silence, waiting to see what the could get out of the pair before Deana sighed and stood up, taking Jackson's hand and started out of the room, making sure to bring her husband right behind her. That left the apparent prince and his new friend together to do as they saw fit.

Sebastian had some questions to ask of River, but he simply had to work them out in his own mind before he could mutter another word. As soon as his parents were out of the room and he knew they were alone, Sebastian looked carefully over the man's hand and let out a soft hum of thought. "I love drama," he muttered, admitting it to the man. "Being on the stage is great... like it's where I belong." He glanced up towards River, letting his eyes scan over his sides, his stomach, up over his chest, lingering over the man's neck before skipping straight up to his eyes. "So I'm a rotten egg?" A smirk crossed his lips as he lifted the tissues away from River's hand once he was sure the remainder of the cuts were cleaned. "I'm sorry about the book thing. Really. I didn't know it..."

The prince pulled back to pick up the photo album, opening it carefully to look at the picture of his parents. "Have you really been searching for seventeen years?" he asked softly. "Seems like a bit long to look for someone you don't even know is alive, to be honest."

he chuckled a little. "i know, it's alright. i am well aware of what happens when a Blood Bonded book is messed with." he admitted simply. "besides, you are My Lord, and my Future King, i would not refuse such a simple order... i could if i wanted to, but i wouldn't." River admitted simply. "besides, i've handled such things before." he admitted with a smile. "there's no need to be concerned, such little pains are hardly felt. shocking, startling, and even a bit frightening, but barely felt." he admitted. "the Book actually induces a state of panic into the person it's attacking, which makes it hurt worse than it normally would. very effective, i designed it myself you know." he admitted with a nod, looking quite pleased. "i'm actually glad it attacked me, being that i made it i was worried it wouldn't transfer ownership properly." he admitted before pausing as Sebastian basically kicked his own parents out. there was that Demon King behavior, River wouldn't be surprised if Sebastian gave many of those 'suggestions' to his parents that where followed without complaint. he watched them leave, his eyes fixed on them, looking almost curious about them, as if he had never seen a human before... even though he clearly had if he'd been living in the mortal realms for the last seventeen or so years.

"It is your Bloodline shining through. you where born to be paid attention to." he admitted with a smile. "born to give orders and born to be obeyed. just like you did a moment ago with your parents." he admitted simply. "they could have refused if they'd honestly wanted to, but they chose to obey you, i'd imagine that rather happens often doesn't it?" he asked with an amused smile. "and who says that i didn't know you where alive?" he asked, his head tilted. "the fact of the matter is, the Journal is bound to your physical being." he admitted, tapping the cover of the aggressive book. "we had a few drops of your blood for emergencies. blood is the way we usually track people. so as soon as you where born they had a small vial of it." he admitted with a nod. "the book informed me every time you where injured or sick, and that's how i always knew you where alive, because if you had died, the book would have told me." he admitted with a small shake of his head. "i was honestly worried that one time, when you had pneumonia and ended up in the hospital... i thought you where going to die of some human sickness." he admitted with a small grimace. "besides... it's my fault you where taken... it is my duty to protect you, i had to find you, to correct my failure... i couldn't give up, because it was my fault you where gone."

Sebastian listened, leaning back to sit on his feet, his eyes lingering on the guard in front of him. The man that should have been his guard, at least... that seemed almost unbelievable to him, to find out he was not only a prince, but he had a book bound to him. It all seemed a bit crazy, to put it simply. And to anyone else, there was no doubt that they would run away without a second thought, just to get away from all the chaos and crazy talk that was going on in the room. But the journal had done something to prove that at least a bit of what River was saying was true. If it had simply sat there and opened when he tried, if it hadn't been turned over like he was trying to describe, then things would have been that much harder to believe. As it was, the teen was having trouble wrapping his mind around what was going on. But he was always one to at least listen to if not believe the crazy that came from people's mouths. That was one reason why he was so good in drama; he could believe the wildest of ideas.

He picked up the journal when River finished and looked it over before opening it up, carefully at first just in case it decided to attack him as well. Of course it didn't, and Sebastian had a chance to take a good look at the pages laid out in front of him. His eyes danced over the pages, taking them in as quickly as he could, looking over each detail before he finally turned to look towards the guard.

"We'll put your word to the test then," he stated, standing up to his feet again, hugging the journal to his chest. "I have to get back in time for school tomorrow. And also so my parents don't worry. But I want to see this world..." He glanced down at the book before lifting it slightly to prove a point. "We can see it, right? We can go just for a few hours and be back for me to continue living this life." If River was telling the truth, then it should be completely possible. If not, Sebastian would have to stay behind and continue his schooling. He wasn't going to drop out now just because he found out he was a prince of some foreign... realm. That would be stupid. He was so close to graduating that if he dropped out over something like that, he would feel like a complete loser and failure. Besides, what sort of message would that send to his people?

Was he really believing this so early on? Sure the book had attacked the man on its own, but Sebastian could have been dreaming. This would be the ultimate test. Besides, if he had lost a child, he would want to see them as soon as he possibly could. He wouldn't want the royal family to suffer just because he was selfish and wanted to finish school.

"I want to see this world... And so you can prove to the royals that you can fix your mistake. Is that possibly, Mr Ravewright?" Was that even the right name to call him...? This was going to get very complicated very fast.

River smiled a little and watched the other come to terms with what was happening. when Sebastian opened the journal again, he would find the most amazing thing. what had once been a foreign language, was now very pretty English writing. the book had adapted itself to a language that Sebastian knew how to understand. "To the test?" he asked, blinking a little before he caught on to what the other boy was implying. he nodded a little. "of course we can see it, but i will need to make some preparations. i can't just open the doorways after all." he admitted. "it takes a bit of effort to get into the other realms. otherwise Humans would end up stumbling upon it much more often than we'd like... we have enough trouble with the Cross Roads... i beleive you call it the 'Bermuda Triangle'." he admitted with a shake of his head. "i'll arrange for a semi permanent 'Doorway' to be opened in my home. that way no one else will accidentally stumble upon it. i'd open one here, but there is too many chances of an unaware human coming in and discovering it." he admitted. "perhaps we will open the Doors on Friday evening? then you can take as long as you want during the weekend to explore the Realms." he offered. "Your parents will of course, be welcome to come as well. the King and Queen will be delighted to meet the parents that have raised you with such obvious love and affection." River admitted. "and please, call me River, i am your Serf after all." he admitted with a smile.

"as for your life here, you will of course continue living here for as long as you like, or until the King, you're blood father, falls into the Eternal Sleep... Demon's don't 'Die' the same way that Humans do after all." he admitted. "you will be able to finish your high school here, and graduate as you please. we wouldn't dream of interfering with your human life. the goal here is to slowly get you used to the way of the Demon, not thrust you straight into Culture Shock." he admitted with a smile. "you can even attend a collage here if you desire to. it's not like the King is going to die in the next fifty years. you have plenty of time to live the life you want to live." he promised with a small smile. "besides, my mistake was fixed the second i finally found you, and you where safe, happy, healthy, and strong." he admitted, sounding very relieved. "had i found you dead, or irreparably crippled, i would have taken my own life in penance... once i assigned someone else to be your guard of course." he admitted with a nod. "we Guardians take our Life Duties very seriously." he admitted with a small smile. "i will send word to the King and Queen letting them know of your safety. and warn them of our arrival Friday evening. this will give me a chance to tutor you in a few... oddities you might come across before we go there." he admitted with a nod. "look through your journal tonight, and tomorrow i'll answer any questions that the journal didn't answer."

"i'll also have some more books for you tomorrow. the Journal is more of a 'princes guide to being a prince'. the other books will explain the different species living in the Demon Realms and the different cultures, languages, and of course the money that we use and anything else that you will need to know." he promised. "we'll start teaching you various languages as well. Draconian first, it is the most common language of the Demon realms. nearly everyone speaks it. then we'll teach you Demonic, and High Demonic. High Demonic is the language of the Royals. only those of nobility learn it." he admitted. "this will be taught over a period of several years of course, so there's no need to give me that horrified look." River stated, rolling his eyes. "i'll take my leave for the night to let you and your Parents talk about things and recover form the shock." he promised. "let me know tomorrow after class if they want me to return here after school. i have all of the next week completely free, so anytime you have need of me, all you have to do is call my number. you still have it, yes?"

So hopping realms wasn't as easy as Sebastian had hoped it would be. Then again, things like that never were when you looked into the stories. It was always a struggle to get back and forth, with plenty of risk and plenty of chance that someone would follow behind. He wasn't at all surprised when River mentioned one, the Bermuda Triangle, and two the chance of somebody stumbling through after them and taking a good look around the new world on the other side. It all seemed completely possible. After all, how else would he have been kidnapped if people couldn't just waltz through the doors? The hunters had to get there some how. Having a permanent doorway of any sort would be handy, even more so if it meant that Sebastian could cross over to the other side at any time. Weekends in the other realm would be a great idea and certainly a good escape. Sadly winter break was over, but he still had plenty of time to get used to things there before he graduated. After that, he could work out what he wanted to do.

'One step at a time, Seb. Take it one step at a time.' That would be his new mantra for the next couple of years.

He gave a small nod in agreement and understanding to the man's words. "You'll be coming along, right?" He wanted to make sure he wouldn't be wandering around alone there. After all, who would believe that a thin teen, no taller than 5'7", with a slightly obnoxious attitude and a stubborn streak the size of the grand canyon was actually a lost prince? Very doubtful. At least with River there, someone had a better chance of listening to that crazy logic. He wasn't planning on bringing his parents through for a while, not until other things were settled, but it was an idea that happened to be sitting in the back of his mind. Sebastian began to catch and hang on the man's every word as he explained what the situation was he would be facing, with going between the two worlds and holding onto two different lives. Sebastian would need that down the road as things began to get crazier and more intense for him. The life he knew was about to be uprooted and turned into something completely new that he had never even thought about before. He would no longer be a teenager where his worst problem would be finding someone to go to prom with. Now he would have to worry about running a realm... luckily River seemed confidant in the idea that he would have a lifetime of time working it out before he would have to step up to the throne. Having books and learning more languages was all fine and dandy, and actually something the read head would look forward to, but he was instantly caught up on one of the man's comments. The rest he tucked away to think about later when it was the proper time.

"How are you going to send them word?" he asked, hugging the book closer to his chest once again. "Can I be there when you do?" He was getting ahead of himself, Sebastian half thought, but he didn't much care. This was important in his eyes and he didn't want to miss a thing about it. If this all ended up being a lie, he would be very disappointed... "I know we're not going until Friday, but... can I see them? I know they wouldn't want to sleep tonight with just the idea that I'm alive. They would want to see me, right...?" He had so many questions for the man, so many things he wanted to know about and wanted to hear of. The journal, he imagined, would have most of the answers he would need to know and with the promise of River being his tutor, or serf, Sebastian knew he would work it all out. The man didn't seem stupid in any way, after all. And he had his phone number which meant instant contact to the man.

The intelligent, powerful, indigo-haired, slim, fit... overly attractive man. How could Sebastian be so lucky? The kid who still had a problem with daydreaming and putting one foot in front of the other while walking was getting someone to wait on him hand and foot. Or so it seamed. This was unreal. And he loved it.

"After we visit, I'll have plenty of questions. But I'll read over the journal this week and get questions to you as soon as I can."

River nodded. "i am indeed going with you. i am your personal guard after all, i won't run the risk of someone trying anything funny. you might be kidnapped again, or worse, you might be attacked without anyone even realizing who you are!" he shook his head. "no, that's not an option sorry to say, you going alone i mean." he admitted simply. "unfortunately, i'll be following you around for the rest of your life, until either you kill me, you die, or i die." he admitted, looking amused. "i will be sending them word through a special basin filled with water." he admitted simply. "i carry it with me at all times, i can contact them here and now if you would like?" he offered as he pulled out what looked like a tiny saucer out of his bag. it was made of silver, and was about the size of a common Frisbee, only there where markings etched all around the bowl. "this is known as a 'Scrying Bowl'. as long as someone else has one, you know their name, and their appearance, you can contact anyone. much like a Telephone." he admitted as he set the shallow dish onto the table and asked Sebastian to fetch some water. with the bowl filled to the brim, River leaned over it and bit his finger, a sharp canine slicing his finger so that a single drop of blood hit the surface and caused it to ripple.

"Her Majesty the Queen of the Demon Realms, Anastasia Aalasia Raquel Velomont." River stated, flashing River an amused smile as the red seeped through he water and then... there wasn't any blood in the water at all, it was just the beautiful woman from the journal and the Photo Album. her blood orange hair falling in cascading rings around her face and her eyes as purple as amethysts. she spoke in a soothing voice, in a language that was reminiscent of water falling over stones and River nodded and replied in the same language, making a few hand gestures as the woman got more and more excited and then vanished. "she went to get her husband, Velemont Requardo Venus Anastasia." River explained with a small smile. "a Royal's name is always fairly long. it is the 'Birth Name', mine is River, yours is Sebastian. it is then followed by the mother, or the fathers name, depending on your gender. your Birth Name would be followed by your fathers name, and then your mothers. in your case, you have two sets of parents. the Heart parents, and your Blood Parents. Heart parents goes first, and then blood parents in male, female order." he explained. "so you are Sebastian Jackson Deana Velomont Anastasia." he explained with a small grin. "complicated isn't it?" he asked with a small snicker. "ah. here is His Majesty the King Velemont Requardo Venus Anastasia."

there where two people in the bowl now. the reddish orange haired mother with purple eyes, and the powerful man who held the exact same hair color, and eye color as Sebastian. there was nothing frightening about the man now, he looked ecstatic, delighted, elated, happy. both of them looked close to tears as River spoke to them and then gently tugged River into place over the bowl and introduced the boy 'formally' "Sebastian Jackson Deana Velomont Anastasia" they repeated the name, looking delighted and the man was speaking quickly now. "Velomont want's to know some things so i'll act as a translator until i can figure out how add a translator to this thing... i was never very good at runic magic." River admitted as he nodded to the king. "they want to know your greatest hobby, if you are enjoying your human school, if you have any good freinds, your favorite foods... they want to know if you have any pets, if your mother and father are coming to the realms with you this weekend, what your sizes are... i'll measure you later... they want to know if you are happy, and want to assure you that they have always loved you and never stopped looking, but that they understand it's strange to suddenly have a whole other set of parents and would like to get to know you, but won't expect you to call them anything other than their given names... they would also like to speak to your Heart Parents."

Sebastian was more than happy to hear that River was going to allow him to see how the contact would go. He grabbed the water like he was asked and stayed back to watch what River was doing from a distance, his eyes lingering over the bowl as River prepared and made the call. It already seemed like blood was a very important thing to the people in the realm, something that he was betting was used a lot in plenty of aspects around the world. It was, after all, a life force. There was no denying that fact, but these people seemed to take it literally, Sebastian could tell that much already. He kept his eyes open for as long as he could, breaking his gaze just long enough to blink before turning towards the water to watch it flicker and play with the drop of blood. At the sound of his mother's name, Sebastian's heart fluttered to life, in a way he had only felt once in his life. In 9th grade, when he decided a senior was the most beautiful thing on the face of the planet... this was very similar and just as important. Her name sounded regal, which is what it should have done. But at the same time, the sound of it struck fear into his gut, hoping that she would in fact like him. Sebastian only hoped he had turned out in a way they could be proud of.

At the sight of his true mother, Sebastian tensed, staring at her image. Seeing her in the photo album was one thing, but to see the images move in a way that could only be real was another one entirely. It was far more enjoyable, not to mention heart warming. She looked just as beautiful now as she did in the last picture of the book and with a name to match, Sebastian could feel everything come to life just that much more. He stood, waiting on the side lines for River to speak to the woman in the dish, his eyes growing ever so slightly at the sound of her voice. It was as if a distant memory was coming back to him. The dream world was coming to life with each passing second and the man was feeling it. And loving it. The queen's voice washed over him with a chilly touch and it took every ounce of strength not to race into the conversation and wait his turn. It would all be worth it.

River began to describe how names were laid out and Sebastian nodded a bit, looking him over, the language surrounding him like a warm, foggy cloud. It was incredible. Velemont and Anastasia. And he was... Oh he was going to forget that name, that was for sure. In fact, when the king came into the bowl, Sebastian lost track of what the man had just told him. There was no doubt that he was related to them. He had his mother's skin tone and his father's hair and eye colour. He always thought that Jackson looked much like him, but this pair in the dish blew that thought out of the water. Sebastian waited to the side, staring at the couple in the water as carefully as he could until Sebastian was pulled over to be introduced.

The red head gave a small smile to the royals and looked them over at the new angle, trying to control his emotions all at once. He heard his father speaking but couldn't understand them. Yet it sounded right. He glanced towards the man beside him as he began to translate their questions and he cracked a small smile. He looked back to the couple in the dish, looking them over with his now shimmering red eyes. With a few small breaks for River to translate, Sebastian began to answer them.

"I like drawing," he told them, leaning in a bit closer to get a better look. "Oils, water colours, all sorts of mediums. School can get boring, but it's pretty good. All I know... Have some good friends, some not so good. I enjoy it. Foods? Fish. Fries. Steaks. Hamburgers. All sorts of meat. Guess that makes more sense now." He gave a soft laugh at his own slight amusement before pausing to let River translate, still smiling. "No pets. My parents are both allergic to most animal hair, so I go to my friend's house to pet her cat most of the time... I don't know if they want to come on the first trip or not. I think it might just be me. And Mr R-- River..." That felt strange to say. All day, he had been calling him 'Ravewright', ever since he got his schedule for the semester.

"I am happy," he told them softly. "I am... but I can't wait to come to the other realm." The adventure would be something he hadn't been on in a while. Any sort of adventure, in fact. Birchwood was boring as hell so to hear he would be taking a trip was wonderful. Amazing. Something he would look forward to. "And my parents...?" He glanced towards the doorway to the side before nodding a bit. "I can get them. I think... they'll want to talk to you?"

River smiled a little as he watched Sebastian. as expected, the Demon in him still remembered his blood parents. Demons where very Blood oriented. Blood held a lot of power, and a lot of magic, and Sebastian's blood yearned to connect with his parents. just as they yearned to connect with him. River answered the King and Queens questions with a small smile, talking about his own interactions with Sebastian afterwords. "Call me anything that makes you feel more comfortable for now Sebastian." River assured the other with a small smile. "your blood recognizes the realms." he explained. "and recognizes kin blood." he admitted before bowing slightly to Jackson and Deana as the Queen and King started to eagerly chatter, still looking so happy, so excited. "they want to know how Sebastian grew up. if he was a sickly or a healthy child... Demon children often have very sickly dispositions. they want to know if he did well in school, they won't understand grades... Demon schools don't have 'pass or fail' concepts. from Sebastian's grade point averages, almost all A's and A+'s he would have been int he 'Masters' program." River explained to the parents. "that just means he's highly intelligent and easily bored if not allowed to learn at his own rate." he explained before smiling. "they want to thank you for taking Sebastian in, and giving him a powerful name. they want to wish you happy blessings, on home, health, happiness, and upon the entire family. that's a very high honor." he admitted with a smile. "they want to reassure you both that they have no intention of taking your place as Sebastian's parents..." here he looked a little upset and sheepish. "they... don't feel like they have the right to call themselves his parents... since they lost him so easily when he was a baby..." he grimaced, the Queen was crying now.

"Anastasia is very happy that Sebastian is safe and had such a happy and good life, and she can't wait to meet him, and you and have a relationship with all of you. in whatever fashion Sebastian allows." River admitted, much less uncomfortable now that Anastasia had stopped crying and was beaming at her son once more. "she said she's so proud of how you grew up to be such a wide ranged young man, and..." here River flushed a little and it looked like he was trying not to laugh. "she called you 'strapping'... that means very handsome and well put together." he admitted coughing into his hand. it was kind of funny, and the Queen was laughing at River's flushing face. there was a sudden crashing sound from the other end of the water dish and both King and Queen turned to look at what had made the noise and Velomont turned thunderous and went after what had made the noise with stern words that made River shudder, even though the King wasn't even in sight anymore. "..." the Queen stated something quickly, beamed, waved, and then the dish turned back into a simple puddle of water. "they send their apologies for cutting it so short... apparently the servants didn't understand what 'hamburgers' where and started a massive brawl about how to make them." he admitted, snickering a little. "Velomont had to go break of the 'bar brawl'. they wanted to make you a feast of your favorite foods for when you go to the realms, but they don't know much about human food." he admitted with a chuckle. "so what do you think of the King and Queen? quite a pair aren't they?"

Sebastian listened to every piece of information he passed to him, once again, hanging on each word. He never wanted to stop listening to the pair, downright loving the sound of not only their voices but the language they were using. He couldn't wait to hear it in person and certainly not to use it. He was going to love listening to the sound, feeling it on his tongue... he wanted it now. Luckily, he didn't have long to wait before he could do all of that. And with River's help, he could do it with what he thought would be ease.

Jackson and Deana came into view of the dish, amazed by the technology in front of them but they could understand exactly what River meant by the level of school and even laughed at the idea. "Yes, a 'Masters program' would be perfect to describe Sebastian. Short attention span when he wasn't challenged and finished his schoolwork quite quickly."

"Hey," Sebastian complained, nudging his father's side with his elbow. "Way to make fun of me, old man." The family shared a short lived laugh before they heard the loud crash from the other side of the water surface. They all three turned to look at the sound, watching in silence before they heard the explanation. Sebastian smiled. "Looks like I'll have to do some teaching of my own," he joked, looking quite pleased with that idea. To hear that his mother was not only proud of him but pleased with how he looked. He felt much better about this situation than he did earlier when he first found out. He still thought it was a wonderful dream, but he was okay with this dream now. And to hear River stumble over the translation just put the icing on this crazy cake that he was getting served.

He gave a quick smile to the man beside him and nodded. "They look well together," he admitted. "Like a perfect couple. And they probably rule with the perfect balance." Sebastian glanced back towards River with a faint smile. "How long have you been serving them?"

River chuckled a little, happy that Sebastian could play with his family so easily. "Demon children growing up in the mortal realms, often have an unexplainable need to prove themselves better than average." River admitted with a nod. "and they are almost always at the center of attention in some way or another." he admitted, grinning at Sebastian. "a Royal Demon is so much worse though. i suppose he had panic attacks if he got anything less than an A. i saw a single A- on one of his school records. how long did it take for him to calm down after that?" he asked curiously. "The Queen will be excited to try some new foods. i'll have to bring a few mortal cookbooks with me. she doesn't like to cook, but she loves to bake." River admitted. "Velomont hates getting messy, he's really a bit of a snob sometimes, but he loves to play sports so long as it doesn't involve mud, dirt, or other such things." River admitted with a small chuckle. "they where almost destined for each other." he admitted. "Anastasia and Velomont actually grew up together after Anastasia's parents died. they grew up together from the cradle." he admitted with a smile. "i was one hundred and twenty when they where born, and was assigned to be their guard along with my Father. they are now two hundred and thirty two." he admitted with a nod before he glanced at the clock. "it is very late though, and you DO have school tomorrow. i'll take my leave." he promised, carefully dumping the water into the sink so he wouldn't make a mess.

"i'll figure out how to add the translations on this..." he promised, already examining the markings intently. "once i get it figured out, i'll leave it with you so you can contact the Realms anytime you want to." he promised Sebastian before bowing to all three of them. "rest well with the night, and have many happy dreams." and with that he was headed to his car, and then gone. what a night! to find out you where, not only royalty, but inhuman as well! and to have a guard that was around three hundred and fifty years old! and didn't look any older than his early twenties! now THAT was nuts... still, it explained how he had the patience to look for someone for seventeen years. that was barely a drop in the bucket.

the next day was... common, everyday boring. it was such a stark contrast to the night before that River was certain that Sebastian would brush it off as a crazy dream. that day in class he spoke some more about Dragons, and went over some of the more interesting pieces of homework with them before he began speaking about unicorns and how many cultures had such creatures in them. he lectured just like he had on the dragons, and everyone was, once again, enthralled and where even more eager to do the homework that he assigned. it was just so easy! jot down a legend and that was all it took! it didn't even need to be real! The Unknown 101 was easily the most popular class now, and it had only been the second day. and everyone, absolutely everyone was whispering about how CUTE Mr. Ravenwright was, and how much they wanted to.... well, that was not talk for virgin ears to say the least.

Sebastian had no problem with agreeing to teach the chefs how to cook. Finding out that his mother enjoyed baking was a bonus and while he didn't like the idea that his father didn't like dirt, he could deal with it for sure and work around that with little to no problem. He had to have some other points that made up for it. Friday. Friday would come soon enough. He just had to wait until Friday.

This would be the longest week of his life.

After a few hours of talking to his parents, Sebastian finally agreed with the man's suggestion to head to bed for the night. He gave two good, long hugs to his parents before heading upstairs with his books. For another hour, he was up, reading from his journal and looking at the pictures, matching them up with what might have been in his dreams. He loved looking at all the images and in the end, he fell asleep with the books open in front of him. He had wonderful, beautiful dreams about what was and what might happen in the future, not to mention a few select dreams about his teacher. No, body guard... god this was going to be confusing. But at least the man was pretty to look at.

The next morning came far too early for the prince's liking. But like always, he got up and ready for school, hopping in the shower then downstairs for a quick breakfast of toast and eggs which he shovelled into his mouth once he slid into Jessica's car. He wasn't quite as exhausted as he thought he would have been, but he was ready to sleep by the end of the day. What happened the day before was almost unreal compared to what was going on now. He was quite disappointed at just how boring everything was.

In fact, when it came to the point when everyone had a chance to work on the easy as hell homework given to them, Sebastian laid his head against the desk, drawing his pencil over the page before his eyes began to close, curling up against his arm and beginning to fade into some much needed sleep. The rest of the class didn't notice, as they were all working on their own assignments or talking to each other, but at the end of the day, they began to clear out, just as they did the day before. Jessica leaned over and began to nudge Sebastian awake before she pulled the hood of his sweatshirt over his head and began to smother him to the point that he would wake up. The red head awoke with a gasp and Jessica let go of him.

"'m up, I'm up," he complained, sitting up and rubbing his face with his hand. "Day's over?"

"Mmmhm. Can't drive you home today though," Jessica told him, messing up his hair with her slender fingers, a smile sitting on her lips. "Have to go drive my brother around a bit annnd you're not invited. Sorry. Parents rules today."

"Damn," he mumbled, moving to slowly start packing up his bag. "No problem. I'll walk home today." That was some good proof that he had brushed everything from yesterday off as a dream. Nothing more had to be said on that matter. Jessica quickly agreed, apologizing again, then apologizing for having to ditch him so early to head out and pick up her older sibling, leaving Sebastian in the classroom alone with River.

River was highly amused when Sebastian returned to school and he watched the boy closely. yep, tired,a night of reading and dreams no doubt. he said nothing as Sebastian fell asleep after the lecture, as Sebastian would be learning about REAL creatures, he didn't much care. he watched the interaction with Jessica and had to smile, glad that he had such a close freind. "will you be telling her, My Lord?" River asked suddenly. "she will start to notice rather swiftly after you stop aging." he pointed out. "and more than that, she'll notice after your Change as well. everyone will, but they'll brush it off. i doubt she will." he admitted, looking at Sebastian. "i figured out how to make the translator work." he admitted as he pulled the dish out of his bag, the one that he always carried with him and set it down in front of Sebastian, well aware that the boys thought of last night being a dream had bee completely shattered. "you fill it with water and put in a drop of your own blood into it. i don't know if it will work for you yet, a bit of your Demonic blood has awoken but i don't know if it will be enough to work the Basin." he admitted, studying the stone bowl. "you can contact me through this as well." he admitted. "just calling my name, River Ravenwright, will let me get my own Basin ready for chatting." he promised before digging into his bag again and settling two books onto he table, both fairly thick.

"this one is about the different species living in the Demon Realms." he explained, flipping it open to show a picture of a large black and white Fox that stood almost four feet tall. "Spirit Fox, they guard the dreams of the innocent." he admitted with a smile. "this book is all about everything you will need to know about the Demon realms. the festivals, the currency, the history, including the current King and Queen and their history. your kidnapping and everything we found out about it is in here as well. it's self updating, so every time the head Scribe puts in new information, it is added here. so our discovery of you is also in here." he admitted, patting the book. "there's a massive undertaking in the castle right now i'll have you know. the Queen is being impossible." he admitted with a roll of his eyes. "and the King is being even worse. they are even shoving maids out of the way to cook and clean themselves, just to make sure it's perfect!... of course, they don't know what the blazes their doing, so the maids have to go back and do it all over again..." he grinned. "they want to make sure the castle is so beautiful your breath is taken away... of course, it already is rather breathtaking so i don't know why they're so frantic... i guess they just really want you to like them."
