It happened so quickly. There wasn't even a second to think, to react what had happened. All it took was a moment to look the wrong way. The sound of screeching wheels and a loud horn was all that was heard followed by shattering glass and crunching metal. Then everything when black.

The next thing she knew her eyes opened to see the blurry vision of bright lights passing by her as she was laid on her back facing the ceiling. A loud ringing was in her ears as she heard people yelling orders that she couldn't understand from her hearing being almost gone. The only thing she understood was: "I don't know if she'll make it." Her raven black hair was filled with her own blood. Her once sparkling sapphire blue eyes were bloodshot and fighting to stay open. Her once normally tanned skin was now pale and covered in deep wounds bleeding heavily as shards of metal punctured her thin curvy body and made her skin pale from the blood loss. Next thing she knew everything went black.

When her eyes opened she was alone in a hospital room with wires and tubes attached to her body. The sound of a heart monitor was echoing through the room and practically in her ear. There was a mask that covered her face helping her breath, the only thing allowing her to breathe. Outside she heard a doctor speaking about her to someone.

"It's a miracle she's alive right now. Not many people survive a 18 wheeler car accident. But unfortunately she won't live for much longer. The fractues in her skull and massive blood loss and internal organ injures will be too much for her body to handle. Her body will start to shut down at any minute."

The doctor's words frightened her to no end. Her heart monitor started beeping faster and faster from the fear that her death was near. She didn't want to die. She wanted to live. The fear of it made her monitor go crazy until suddenly the beeping started to slow down. Getting slower and slower with each beep. Her eyes grew heavy and her vision tried to fade. She can't die, she won't die. Not now.

(( Lovely introduction ))

He hovered about the city at the expense of a new assignment. Adonis, despite his angelic name, was what humans often refer to as the grim reaper. He takes souls and ferry them to only god knows where - no pun intended. More often than not, he dealt with souls who weren't ready to pass on. He dealt with souls who wanted life and not death. He dealt with souls who cursed him, shunned him and begged him for their lives. There was an ultimate role to their kind - there was no exceptions. Giving an exception would mean having their executions and him, as a grim reaper, only gave him one destination - nothingness. No heaven, no hell, just pure extinction as if he never existed and it would hurt his pride if that were to happen.

He couldn't remember the time he was still human. That was, perhaps, centuries ago. All he knew now was that he had one purpose and that purpose is to take souls. He was quite proud and arrogant 90% of the time but he has certain soft spots somewhere in him that only a selected few have triggered.

And now, here he was, at the familiar location of a hospital. The white walls and white everything looked oh too familiar to him and looking at the poor dying child, he knew very well this one wasn't ready for her death.

Her body was in ruins. In fact, Adonis had to look close enough to make sure she was human once but her soul was a different story. Her soul, looking lost and confused, floated right beside the dying carcass.

Adonis took the hood of his cloak down to reveal the young man in it, a young man who looked around five or six years older than the victim. His hair had a pale blonde color and his skin was even paler - in fact even nearly translucent. His eyes were a different story and perhaps the only dab of color in his whole albino appearance. His eyes burned red and had cat-like irises on them which stared intently at the confused soul.

Long and slender fingers tipped with jet black nails then reached out to the girl.

"Time to go", he said.

(Thank you, yours was good too)

The girl opened her eyes again only to see her own body laying lifeless in front of her. The heart monitor making a loud drone noise telling her, she was in fact dead. This wasn't a nightmare or an illusion. This was real. "No, no this can't be happening. I can't be dead. I can't." Her voice cracked and filled with sorrow "This has tio be a dream. Wake up Emilee wake up." She told herself.

The feeling of a hand touch her and a voice telling her it was time to go made her jump and quickly turn around. She gasped when she saw the man behind and her and repeated "No no no. It can't be true! I'm not dead! I'm not dead!" Tears started to run diown her face as she broke down realising her biggest fear came true. "Please...I can't be dead." She said softly

Denial. The first stage of death. This is the stage where the soul attempts to make bargains or, to frankly put it, to fool his or herself that he or she is not dead. Adonis had gone through this process too many a time already and what was once a feeling of empathy to these souls now turned to annoyance.

He glanced at the dead carcass for a while and allowed the soul's wails to echo the ICU even if no one else could hear them. "You humans are really dumb at times," he said. "Can't you see that body of yours? Can't you read the monitor? You're dead. It's time to go."

Adonis stroked his slender fingers along the cheek of the sleeping body. "It's such a pity. You could've grown into a fine, beautiful woman."

Emilee listened to the man before her and couldn't help, but feel even more afraid from his harsh words towards her pain. She watched as he gently stroked the cheek of her empty shell of a corpse. She returned her attention to the man before her and said desperately. "Please. I know you've must've heard this over a million times, but please listen to me. I don't want to die I barely even got to live! I'll do anything just please don't take me away. I'll do anything yoh want no questions asked. Please." She begged desperately

Ah, and the begging came, as usual. If only his ears came with an off button, he would've turned his hearing off before heading to this place. Unfortunately, things didn't go like that and now he was faced with another series of begs.

He turned towards the girl and for a few seconds, their eyes met. Indeed, she was really pretty and Adonis saw it. For a while he simply looked at her at a loss of words but his pride won the battle. Quickly, his few-second-long softness once again turned to stone. "Granting your life would mean granting my death. Do you really believe I'd give in, human?" He told her but mentally, the offer sounded very alluring to him. He could already think of a lot of things he could use this girl for, taking her word for it that she'd do anything with no questions asked.

For a moment she felt his icy cold stare actually feel something, but quickly returned to cold after a moment. She flinched as he spoke to her afraid he would take her away without giving her a chance. "I doubt you'll listen to me, but I'll make an offer. If you let me live, I'll be your servant, slave, whatever you wanna call me. I'll do anything for you. All you have to do is say the word and it'll be done. I promise." She said firmly and seriously yet still scared and nervous.

"And how does a death god like me benefit from a mere human like you?" Adonis asked, this time hovering away from the body and away from the soul to lean his back against the wall at Emilee's opposite end. "If you sell your soul to me, isn't that like dying as well? Right now, you have a chance to go to... heaven," he said, although the last word came out with pure disgust. "If you do that pact with me, darling, your one destination is hell and your life will be a living hell under my command. Do you really want what you're asking for?"

Most of the time, Adonis didn't argue anymore. In fact, he rarely communicated with the souls he takes. He simply tells them that a pact cannot be done and that's that. This time, for some odd reasons, he was quite curious where their conversation was going.

"I don't know what the Death God would want, but I'm sure there's something a mere human could do." She tried to reason. When she heard him speak and say heaven's name in disgust as if something was wrong with the paradise most humans dream of going to. She did know hell was a horrific place of eternal flames and never ending torment yet she didn't seem to fear it or what the reaper claimed about her servitude. "Sir I fear dying more then hell itself. I don't know why, but dying was the most frightening thing I can think of over all else. Yet you tell me I have a chance in heaven, but you say the name bitterly why?" She asked curiously

It was a brave answer and Adonis admired the human for it. Usually at this point, given that chance, the soul would take his or her request back and just accept his fate. This fiery girl, on the other hand, feared death more than hell. She feared death more than a life of living hell and more hell afterwards. At her last question, though, Adonis simply shrugged. "It is not my obligation to answer any of your inquiry," he simply replied.

For a while, Adonis was lost in thoughts. What if he gives in? What if he manages to keep his little slave a secret? It's been a while since he had a companion - and a pretty one at that. What if it was time to enjoy humanly pleasures again?

But to what extent? At what's expense?

Adonis remained silent as he contemplated on his own. He glanced from the floor to the girl and vice versa until--

"Your soul will be held captive upon your next death and you will live your granted life according to my will. If that is what you prefer over your death now which, I tell you, will be a lot better, then let's make a deal."

Adonis took out a dagger with intricate designs and held out his hand. "Give me your wrist. Let me mark you."

She didn't argue against him for not giving her an answer on why he seemed to dislike heaven, but watching his eyes move from the floor to her constantly back and forth was nerve racking. She feared her offer would go unanswered and she'll be forced to move on.

Her eyes widened slightly hearing he'll accept her offer. Seeing the dagger she froze for a second, but walked closer to him holding her wrist out. "Thank you." She sauid softly before giving him her wrist. She closed her eyes knowing this was gonna be painful

"Silly human. You're a soul now. Souls feel no pain," he told her and his voice was full of annoyance. Adonis didn't know what he was getting into but he was sure this wouldn't end up pretty if things didn't go as planned.

Taking Emilee's wrist with his hand, he used the dagger the carve his name on her skin. It was a curvy script of his name "Adonis Gale" marked with an upside down cross.

"This mark won't just show on your skin once you get your life back but it'll be engraved on your soul as well. This marks you as mine," Adonis instructed. Once the branding was done, Adonis took the dagger away and walked towards the almost decaying body. He raised his hand up above the carcass' heart and uttered something that only he can understand.

It was a way to restore Emilee's life.

Emilee had almost forgotten she was nothing more then a hopeless soul. So hearing her new Master's words made her feel more foolish then she was already made out to be. She watched as he whispered something to the empty shell of her body then immediately found herself reawakening in her cold once lifeless body.

She laid there for a second unsure if it was okay for her to move, but the heart monitor's beeps returned to beeping every second normally. She looked at her wirst to see the marking was there so it wasn't in anyway fake. She asked still starting at her marking "What happens now...Master?"

Adonis shuddered at the sight. "Let's get a few things straight. Let's drop this whole... master title. It annoys me. Second, you're still in a very bad shape. I have no power to heal you. Get yourself recovered and I'll come back in a few days."

He turned his back from his companion yet before completely disappearing, he said, "take a look at the marking on your wrist. That's my name. It'd do you well to remember it."

With that, he completely disappeared.

Emilee sat in her medical bed feeling her pain ,although dull, start to return. Her body was pretty bad, but she couldn't help, but smile. She didn't know what was in store for her, but whatever it was she was gonna have to deal with it as death's servant.

The doctor heard the heart monitor and couldn't believe what he was seeing. "She's alive? But how?! Everyone quickly we can still save Emilee!" He shouted gettin' a full emergency team ro help Emilee. They spent hours after putting her out pulling out shards of metal and glass while filling her body back up with blood slowly bringing her back into a stable health.

Days after, when Emilee was transferred to a regular room for recovery, her doctor went inside and asked how she was feeling. "I hope you're feeling well enough, Emilee, because someone came to see you. He's a handsome young fella. I bet he'd be happy to see that you're alright," he said, sounding quite excited for the girl as if he assumed that who ever that was who came to visit was her lover.

When the doctor excited, a young man entered. He was around 6-foot tall with wavy blonde locks flowing down to his shoulders. He wore dark shades that covered his eyes but his pale skin, intricate marks (which somehow looked like tattoos in the human world) and black nails didn't give the benefit of the doubt.

Once the door closed, the young man took the sunglasses off and placed it on a table. His burning red eyes looked intently at the recovering girl but no words were spoken.

Emilee looked almost confused as the doctor explained she had a visitor that was a handsome young man. She didn't know anyone who was young and handsome except for Adonis, but the living couldn't see him...right?

When the man walked in she didn't recognize him at first, but seeing his red cat like eyes she knew excatly who it was. She was silent unsure on what to say to him, she was mostly shocked and amazed he could make himself human. He sure as hell fooled her for a second if it weren't for his piercing eyes.

"I hope you remember me. We'd be stuck together for only some nobody up above knows when," Adonis said. He took the liberty of plopping down on the couch and turning on the television to absent-mindedly flick through the channels. Human entertainment didn't quite entertain him so much but it helps in allowing time to pass by.

"You're looking healthier than before," Adonis remarked. "If I'm gonna need some sort of slave, I need her in good shape. Got that? When are you allowed to leave this rotten place anyway? It's been eating up my precious time."

Clearly, Adonis was not amused nor willing to be spending his time with his new find but the sooner they get some sort of privacy, the better.

The grim reaper couldn't wait to enjoy human pleasures again.

Emilee didn't smile, but she looked at Adonis and replied "Of course I remember you, Adonis." She replied without looking at her wrist to show she memorized he name like he told her to a few days ago. She watched trying to act casually but he was obviously impatient with something. "Just one mord day and my stitches can come out then I'll be ready to go." She answered him curious as to what he wanted to do with her, but she'll won't ask

"Humans are so damn slow," Adonis uttered but despite his complaints, he didn't make a move to leave or to whine any further. Instead, he just sat in his corner and amused himself with the television or the view outside. Once in a while, when doctors would come in, he'd wear the sunglasses back so that they wouldn't see his eyes.

---

Night came soon and the lights were out except for a small lamp beside the hospital bed. Adonis was a lot calmer now than he was that morning, but that didn't mask his impatience.

"I really do not understand why you want to remain here." He said, at no one in particular. As he uttered those words, his eyes were fixed at the surroundings outside the window.

Emilee was actually happy that Adonis had stuck around the entire day. It was a lot less lonely to Emilee despite that almost the entire time they were quiet, but it just felt nice to have someone that wasn't a doctor was there.

--

When night came Emilee kept the lamp on getting ready to sleep when she heard his comment. "Stay here? As in life?" She asked curiously at what he meant. "Well no one wants to go to hell and the way you say heaven sounds like it isn'tall it's cracked up to be. Maybe this is just the best place to be." Shd said hoping shs didn't sound more foolish then he already thought she was. "Good night Adnois." She said almost sweetly with a soft smile. She laid down and curled up in her bed leaving the lamp on in case he wanted it on.

Oh yes, heaven doesn't have a god everyone thinks it has Adonis told himself bitterly but didn't felt the need to actually voice it out. In some ways, he agreed with Emilee's way of thinking. Indeed, hell is... well... hell. There was no euphemizing it. Heaven is, well, perhaps for innocent souls like her, heaven would be a good place.

Shrugging the thoughts aside, Adonis waited a few minutes before uttering softly almost just to himself, "pleasant dreams, Emilee"

Yes, he knew her name even if the other didn't tell him about it.

-----

Morning soon came, and release papers were filed and fixed. Adonis took care of such matters while Emilee slept and the bills? Well, Adonis had his way. Needless to say, when he went back up to Emilee's room, all that was needed was for her to wake up and get going.

Until then, Adonis remained standing at the same spot, gazing out at the surroundings outside.

Emilee woke up a few minutes after Adonis' return to her room. She squrimed a little then yawned as a way to wake herself up. She softly sat up rubbing her eyes of the sleepiness still in them. She saw Adonis standing in the middle of the room and replied "Good morning Adonis. How are you?" She stretched a little seeing her injures were completely healed and she was ready to go. "Anything needing to be done?" She asked curiously

Adonis shook his head. "Aside from you getting up, getting dressed and leaving, nothing else is needed to be done," he said. His tone was still ice-cold but the impatience worn out slightly. Instead, he sounded tired. He may retained his looks but keeping a physical form in a world not of his own was quite a challenge for him.

That idea made him smirk.

He turned to face his companion and walked towards her to stroke her cheek. A few days ago, he did the same gesture to her dying carcass. Now, he was doing it again, but things felt real and alive. Emilee was really pretty, Adonis thought. Perfect for his desires.

"In fact..." he began. "Why don't you get dressed in front of me?"

Emilee smiled hearing nothing was need to be done and she replied "Great I'll get ready as soon as I can.", but seeing his smirk and feeling his hand on her cheek just like he did to her corpse before he brought her back caused her to blush brightly. Along with his comment almost her entire face was red, but since she was his slave now she had no choice. "O-of course." She replied realizing what things he'll have store for her.

She got up from her bed and undid the simple stings that tied behind her back and neck letting her hospital cover fall off of her. She stood before him unsure if he would even want her to dress seeing her thin cruvy body with C cup sized breast and a round rear. Surprisingly her womanhood was bare. She looked at him nervously hoping he was happy with what he saw
