Drake falls, the masterpiece designed by European architect and award-winning novelist Lance Jonathan Drake. Drake falls is an incredible example of organic beauty meets state of the art modern architecture. It hangs over a waterfall using the architectural device known as the cantilever. It is located in the centre of a large, lush, forested area with many natural cliff and mountainous areas, at least fifty miles away from the nearest city in all directions. Few know about its location, except for some pre-build sketches that had won a few awards for its ingenuity.
It has a self-sustaining water and power supply and is equipped with the latest electronic safety measures and technology aimed for maximum comfort.
On the outside it appears to be a home of absolute tranquillity and purity. Little do people know of the darkness that lurks inside.
Lance Jonathan Drake was born and raised in modest beginnings, yet soon it became clear that he was destined for greatness, showing both skill in buildings things with both words and sketches. At the start of his career he was included in some major and prestigious projects, as well as finishing two rather large novels, one being an award winning one. He married out of love to a beautiful woman and was blessed early on with the gift of new life. He proved to be an attentive father and loving husband, on top of being filthy rich and making a name for himself. He designed Drake falls as a present for his wife, a project that he would give her to eternalise his love for her.
Sadly this fairy tale love story wasn’t meant to last.
With his three daughters still too young to remember, their family was plunged into darkness when his wife was taken from him; a robbery in their home that changed everything, tearing a page from their book that was crucial to the fairy tale magic that his family was so blessed with. In this darkest hour he finished the final pieces on his house, including some additions, and moved his family there, shutting himself out from the rest of the world. He would shelter his remaining family from the elements that were haunting this world. He would teach them what they needed to know, keeping any impurities and dangers away from them, nurture them into greatness as they grew up in this utopia he had created for them. Little did he know that his once pure, noble and somewhat misguided ideas would send him on a path to corruption, casting a large shadow over his family that would tempt them to the sweetest taboo known to mankind.

The original designs had originally been made up with the idea of only settling in the house when Lance and his wife retired, thus not needing as much bedrooms as their previous house had needed. When his wife passed he altered the designs somewhat, turning the guestroom, the dressing room and the upstairs study into bedrooms. They were designed in a modern fashion, although old wooden support beams ran through the cores, allowing nature to blend in with the steel and concrete, giving it a unique blend of two forces. Each bedroom held a bed whose size was between a one and two person’s bed. Over the years Lance had allowed them to make alterations on their own, allowing a personal touch to sink in, giving it warmth of its own.
When his eldest daughter moved out of the house, chasing her own goals in live, Lance had turned the her room back into the Study again, giving his other two daughters a place to use the computer and read in private while they did the homework their father gave them.
The house had a large database in the basement, allowing their inhabitants of the house to find information and store information from all over the world, yet everything was filtered before it could even be accessed. It wasn’t internet where you could find anything and be corrupted. Lance had made sure they had nothing like that in the house.
Their father’s bedroom was very much Spartan, yet it suited him. It had a gorgeous view of the outdoors, a glass slide door allowing passage onto the lower terrace. His room was mostly decorated in a pure and elegant white style, although he floors was shadow grey stone. He enjoyed the openness of his room, the emptiness and the serenity. It made him relax and he occasionally did some yoga on the terrace with one of his daughters.
This particular morning was a strange one for Lance. For the first time in a long time he had slept a bit uneasy, even going as far as to drink a wine while sitting on the terrace outside, pondering on how to act the next day. It had been a while since he last had all of his daughters in the house at the same time. He loved them all dearly, each in their own way. The fact that he had to slowly let go of his eldest daughter was a hard thing to do, seeing as he was exposing her to the outside world. Inside his mind he constantly replayed that moment, dropping her off at the airport and steeling himself with a smile and a wave. His whole body had wanted to embrace her at that moment, pull her into his arms and tell her that her place was with her family; that she needed to stay with him. Letting go was a part of being a parent, yet it still ached when it happened.
Today was the day that his little Elys would return. If her flight had no delays she would be arriving in seven hours, arriving at the nearest airport, a mere hour drive from Drake Falls. He had spent his morning making lunch for his daughters, baking pancakes and preparing fruit beverages with strawberry toppings. He had placed the drinks in the refrigerator and the pancakes trapped in a small stone dome, trapping the heat inside. He himself had settled for the leftover salad from last night and two fried eggs. He would probably go for a long jog in the weekend, so today would be a day of relaxation and reunion. He figured the best way to start off the day would be by taking a long warm bath.
