The Heart of A New World
Lore

The year was 2023; Technology has evolved into a size that is unimaginable big and complex. A scientist named Nickolai Sergetov made a device named VLG, a shortcut for the device named Virtual Life Generator. The device has been made for pure entertainment. It was about three years ago when it made its first enter in the world. It was a prototype back then and quickly the whole world was obsessed about it. The device was the form of a helmet, a black one with three bars on top of its forehead. An on light, an off light and a disconnecting light were the three bars on the forehead; they were clearly indicators for the status that the user was in. On the side of the helmet there were two buttons; ON/OFF and DISCONNECT.

Now how the device worked was impressive; it formed a connection between the wireless receiver and sender in the helmet and the senses, synapses and nerve system in the body of the user. Thanks to this connection, the wireless helmet could receive information about a virtual world that had been selected on forehand. Which the user was now fully living in, the body of the user in the real world wouldn’t be affected by aging, food and/or drinking anymore as the helmet provided an evolved hormone system that would leave the body in a sort of cryogenic sleep. The user wasn’t aware of this and was now fully alive in the virtual world, be it a porn world or a school world or a gaming world. It wouldn’t matter, it was only a click away and the vividness of the games was unimaginable. The user would experience in reality, everything he/she would experience in the game. Pleasure, Pain, Pride, Success, Failure, all the different emotions, feelings and much more was provided by the VLG-system. It was clearly the most important invention of that time. But that was 3 years ago, now almost every living being on the world had a VLG system and it wasn’t that special anymore. But now the different branches of the world industry started committing themselves towards the system. Posting various amounts of games, worlds, relaxation to be able to do so many things with the system that the variation became wide and unspoken off, nothing was the limit with the VLG-system.
A famous game creator came to the market after 3 years, he was known for various well-praised MMORPG games on the VLG-system. He had brought his newest game to the market and put it on display for everyone to see.

The game was called: The New World.
The New World was his greatest creation by far, it was an open world MMORPG, it was that far that you could build your own house, start your own family, form a marriage and even make children, but that was not the greatest function, the function of open world combat was the most impressive part of the game, the moves would be so mindfully thought that there was no limit to how much combat could expand. A social application would make it able for players to make groups, friends, Guilds, Craftsmanship Companies or even Enterprises for trading, buying and stock building. The possibilities were unimaginable. Therefore, what players had sought in several of games, it all was inside of The New World. It attracted that many publicity that the creator of the game had vanished of the side of the earth. Or so it seemed. The Game was coming out soon and you had all prepaid the first editions of the game.

Now the game setting was something unique as well. It was a fantasy medieval setting, the game world was spread with thousands if not millions of different monsters to fight against, some extremely difficult and some were monsters to hunt for parts of food. The special part of this game was the fantastic setting of the world. The world was actually one big labyrinth of levels, all the fresh players would start at the first floor, which was the beginner’s level. The game was labeled with 100 levels. But what was that unique, was the setting of each level. Each level would have a different nature, a different landscape, a different weather setting, different monsters and different towns. Each level was unique, some levels being just underwater hunting for monsters and visiting an underwater village that was made by NPC’s that seemed to be alive just as the other players would be. Some levels were just one big town that was set up purely for corporations, guilds, families, groups to settle in it, to make it their hometown or their base of operations. There were no limits to how vast this game was and it was clear that this was the most anticipated game ever built. But what was dangerous about each level is that there was a Boss hidden at each level, in order to progress to the next floor, the players would have to defeat the Boss at the floor they were at to progress to the next one. Each floor would have an unique atmosphere about it, some floors are way harder than the others. Some floors have more useable materials than the others. It was unimaginable how expanded the game was.
What nobody knew what nobody foresaw… Is that the game developer wasn’t just aiming for the best game ever. He was aiming to have test subjects. His goal was to create a virtual world inside of human’s brains, only to assume absolute command of them and absolute might over the real world. That was his devious plan that was put into place perfectly and the setting was nowhere else than his own game. The VLG was perfect to start it, it was perfect to have a begin with his experiments. And thus his plan was and still remains, to capture all the players that log in on the first day. He would lock them in the world and keep them in place only to experiment on their feelings, their thoughts and their actions. It would be his true masterpiece, his true work of art. And thus the devious plan was set in motion, the presales were unlocked and massive amount of people started to preorder the game that would be that epic, that fantastic that they would never grow tired of it. This in fact was quite what the game creator had in mind. And every gaming soul would fall into the trap that nobody saw coming.
But who are you in all this?

You are one of the soon-to-be victims. You have all preordered the game and can’t await the moment you’d receive the game for the VLG you already had a long time. This was your craving, this was your dream, this was your escape from the world you were in all your life. This is your second chance and this would be a feeling that you have been waiting on so desperately. An escape … An escape from it all and it would feel so good, or at least, that is what you think. It would be freedom in your eyes and at a certain time you would dream and think of nothing else but how the game would be like. Your fantasies, your wildest emotions and thoughts would flame up as you thought of the game. You are all one of the millions of victims to come, victims to the addicting thought of the game. The addicting feeling of the freedom you would get while in the game.

(This is the introduction for the RP, it is based on an idea of mine that has been running my mind for a few years and recently there came an anime that pretty much is the whole idea of mine, SAO, Sword Art Online it’s called, if you want to like know perfectly what I’m talking about, please watch the first few episodes and you’ll know what this is about)

This is very well done. I actually finished watching SAO recently and loved the thought and aspect of it all. My main question from glancing upon your Character Creation is this:

I saw that everything starts at 5. But do we get X (10-30 or so, give or take the amount you had in mind) points to distribute then add/subtract the respective modifiers from our class? Or just put everything at 5 and add/subtract for now?

Regardless, I'm definitely interested in this.

Add and substract your classes, your stats will advance as you level up, that is what the whole System I made is all about

Hm, alright. It'll definitely make for a challenge. Usually all stats in other MMOs and such are at least double digits even at first level (Neverwinter and DDO as best examples that come to my mind). But that's practically impossible from first glance. Very well though. I'll have a character up in a sec.

EDIT: And done~

Mathematically speaking, the usability of a stat is not measured in how high it is numerically, but the system behind it. :p

True but often times based on said numbers, it makes a lot of positive/negative percentages for an array of things. =P Still, point noted otherwise.

aaahhhhh i missed this? dang i love the idea and the anime, oh well cant change what you missed
