Brian's eyes studied her body as he listened to her speak, he knew she would keep bringing it up and sighing a little on the inside he glanced slightly past her towards the monitor as he spoke. "I used to be a very good friend of your mother's, last few years not so much but that happens when people are busy."

"Yeah, mom didnt keep guys around. Not after the terrible things that my father did to her. She used to tell me that she was afraid of men because of them." she said as she closed her eyes and started to slip back to sleep, her nurse whispering that she would go in and out of sleep for a while while she healed.

Brian felt a little angry when he heard those words but did not show it, watching her sleep he stood and quietly left the room to get himself some tea. Returning to near the room, he stood there for a few minutes taking a few sips still trying to think how to fully explain what happened all those years ago. She had a right to know both sides, not the harsh one that she already knew.
