"A toast! Yes!" I say, over-eager to take the champagne from Kristina as I'm purposefully pressed into the circle of women, each with their own glass. I'm struck immediately at how tall they all are. Aside from Jackie - who's probably 5'7'' or so - the bridesmaids are all about my height, and most of them taller in their heels. ...Alcohol should make this easier to manage; I'm jittery and edgy, and take the champagne gladly. I want to feel more normal, and not as anxious as I do...but, I just notice now, my headache is somehow gone already...

Milenka translates for me as we all share a drink. The girls are vivacious, and energy is high. Though the champagne will help (it should...it's $500 a bottle!) - I'm still a little uncomfortable with so much attention focused on me. They all look at me, they all talk about me - in Russian. I review to myself but I think I have everyone's names right: Valentina (the blonde) and Elvira (auburn hair) are the two thinnest but seem to have the biggest - or at least most dramatic - chests.
