As Ishizu looked away, hetmas flicked a hadn faintly at the others in the room. None of them wanted to be there if he changed his mind, and decided that he would abuse either the Queen, or one of them. Far better to simply be gone. The room cleared in only a few moments, and Hetms looked down at the map of the city, mind already working forward. The city hadn't been realistically threatened in quite some time, and he knew it. The last few Pharohs had let the walls weaken, and the garrison wither. Now it was a staging point for men who should have long since set aside the spear. That would have to change. The grizzled veterans would be better suited to training and even leading small groups, as long as it kept them off of the front lines. There was so much work to be done! He had known that the job was not going to be and easy won, that to wear the crown was to take on the burdens of the kingdom, but he'd still hoped it might not be quite this...complicated. But it was too late now. He'd cast the die, and now he had to see it through, to whatever end he might find. He noted ishizu was looking up now.
"You are not simply a bauble to display. They call you Queen, and intend to ensure that this is not simply a title applied to you." He said to her, turning away from the table, meeting her eyes. "This kingdom can ill afford infighting Ishizu. Your father was leading this kingdom into a disaster with the taxation of the outer holdings, and his casual dismissal of qualified men for imagined slights, or to curry politics with the nobles. I did what I had to do. And that includes what I have done to you. I'll not apologise for what I have done, that would be the worst hypocrisy of all, but I did offer you the chance to help me willingly. If your father attmepts to return now, it will tear this kingdom apart from the ground up, and our neighbours will carve the land up for themselves. I did not kill him, nor did I order it done. But if he does attempt to return, for any reason, I will again do what must be done for the good of this kingdom. I am not asking for permision. But I do ask that you try and understand why I do this."
