He sat in his class, trying to focus, but it was hopeless. About five minutes into the class he asked if he could be excused, and when the teacher said no, he left anyway, needing some space away from it all.
He didn't really know where he was going, not at first. It wasn't to long until he was heading towards the school courtyard, thinking of all the times he and Lucy had gone there together, hanging around with one another, and he sighed closing his eyes. "Lucy....I'm so sorry..."
Lilly sat behind the old tree in the courtyard, the one where they shared their first kiss. She cried there, her make up running down her face as she sniffed and sobbed in sadness.
He moved into it, looking over everything before he came to their tree...and froze as he saw Lucy. He knew she'd hate him. Why wouldn't she? He thought about turning around and leaving, but he didn't, just watching her before he finally spoke. "Lucy......please........"
Lucy looked at him, her face was a mess of tears and make up. "What do you want from me? Isn't hurting me and cheating me with my sister enough?" she said covering her wrists and arms, they were cut and flesh could be seen.
He looked at her, and then looked down, sighing. "I wanted....I wanted to talk to you.....one last time before....before...before I went away...please Lucy....please...I'm begging you."
"Say what you got to say...my heart is broken...i gave it to you and you stomped on it...with my bitchy sister..." she said, she wasn't crying anymore.
He sighed letting her say what she wanted. "I love you...I really do.....and I'm really sorry you don't believe me...but I want you to have everything of mine. Come by my house after school...please...just so I can give it to you? I don't care what you do with it...I just don't want my family to have anything to do with any of it." As he got closer, his eyes trailed to her wrists and he tensed slightly. "Lucy....your wrists........you...."
"What? You are going to cheat me with your dog? I'll go...just because i want to see it with my own eyes..." she said. She hid her wrists out of his sight and sighed. "What happened? You never seen this?" she asked, showing her massively cut wrists, some of her wounds were still bleeding. There were more than 20 slashes.
He flinched as he looked at them, and then away, not letting her see the tears in his eyes. He knew she'd accuse him of faking, and if she heard anymore about the other night he'd end up punching Sophie in her smug little face. "I...thank...thank you Lucy."
"You are welcome...i...just want to get this out of my head..." Lucy said wiping the blood out of her open wounds. She stood up, she was slimer than ever, he legs were thinner and so was her stomach.
He flinched as he saw her, looking down again. "I'm sorry....you won't have to deal with me much longer...no one will." And then he moved to leave, not wanting to make her any sadder or angrier.
When he answered it, he stepped outside holding something in his hand and he closed the door behind him, a bruise on his cheek. "Let's go out back....my parents are in a mood again."
Lucy shrugged when he saw him beaten. She pulled her jacket's sleeves to cover her bloody and slashed arms. Then, she waited for her. She didn't want to be there.
He sighed as he saw her arms again before he shook his head and spoke. "I....I bought this for you....before.....before the other night....I....I want you to have it....even if you hate me." As he said it, he held out his hand, revealing the gold locket in his hand. It was pure gold, or as close as possible to it anyway, and in order to pay for it he'd had to use all the money he'd been saving for both college and a car. She'd pointed it out when they'd been together in the mall, saying how she wanted it but how she knew she'd never be able to afford it.
A few tears fell down Lucy's face. He...he had spent all his money on her...all his money. She cried, not only in happiness but in...in a feeling she couldn't describe herself. She hugged him tightly and put the locket around her neck. She kissed his lips and cried. "I'm sorry...could you please forgive me?"
He returned the hug, kissing her back as tears slid down his own face, most of them out of joy that she'd forgiven him. "Always....always Lucy....but promise me something?"
He kissed her gently. "Yea...you do it once every now and then....never like this." He pulled back looking at her, and then he smiled. "What do you wanna do?"
