Natasha looked up at him, still a bit surprised at the change in him. But more than that, she wished that she could take that look off of his face. One of deep shame and regret. She flinched as she heard the shot to the head, knowing full well that she wouldn't want to see what was behind her. She watched him apologize on his knees for what he'd done. It was only out of self defense, but she was sure that he wouldn't see it that way. Still covering herself, she stood before him, unsure of what else she could say or do. Frowning, she let him handle everything the way he saw fit.
She just stood there, wishing she knew what to do. It wasn't something she could just fix. one thing she was sure of, though, was that she didn't want to stay in the kitchen where the smell of blood and death lingered. She walked to her room, stripped out of her clothes and threw what was still usable in the laundry, tossing the others in the trash. She looked in the mirror and saw the beginnings of a bruise forming just below her chest where he'd grabbed particularly hard. Frowning, she slipped on a robe and hurried into her bathroom to scrub herself clean. When she came out of the shower, Christian was still outside. Sadly, she moved back into her room, dressing once more in jeans and a black shirt--much like the now-ruined blue one. She put on some socks and shoes and stood in the doorway to the kitchen, wondering what to do first. Cleaning supplies, she thought, going to the closet. She brought out a sponge for scrubbing, a 5-gallon bucket, and a mop, then some rags.
She set them to the side and pulled out some bleach and a few other cleaning products next. It would take awhile to get it all done, but the house would be clean again soon. She started to fill up the bucket with a mix of soap, water and bleach when Christian came back in. He looked so sad it nearly broke her heart to look at him. "Christian.." and when he grabbed his chest, she was at his side in a flash, the water off now. Her arms wrapped around him and she felt tears sting her eyes as she held him close. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," she said softly.
