The Lakeshore, a place sought by many to ease their burdens.
It's beautiful and serene exterior hiding a multitude of stories and myths.
For those that seek this place, use caution when treading the shores and don't let the beauty blind you to the harshness that lies beneath.

No matter how hard she tried, sleep just would not come. Then again, Julietta supposed a lot of that had to do with the beasts in the shadows. She could feel their eyes watching her every move as they lurked and waited, waiting for her eyes to grow heavy enough to close so that they could jump atop her slight body, their hands reaching about her slender throat so that they could squeeze her life away. Of course, she knew some of that was in her head, strange fabrications of fancy that just didn't exist. But those eyes. She knew they were real, ever watching... ever waiting.

Julietta's head twitched as she found herself getting closer to the waters of the lake. The sight of the serene waters would be a comfort to say the least, the bewitching inky black that always beckoned her night after night to the point of near obsession. Still, the air had been stifling in her room. She'd needed to get out and away. Those faces had been watching her and she never liked the way that felt. Yes, being outside was much better, more bearable. One could say she was more in her element.

Ah, Julietta had to chuckle at that thought. Just then, she let out a soft sigh and let her cool blue eyes rest on the water as she carefully approached, taking care not to get too close. She focused her thoughts and energy upon the ripples, a tiny bead of sweat forming on her chest and tumbling down between her breasts. Suddenly, the ripples moved faster... faster, faster... until finally a wave crashed upon the shore.

Julietta shook her head, her concentration suddenly broken. Something was amiss. She came to the Lakeshore rather often since coming to Taunton, her gifts often bringing her to the water. But never had she felt such a presence. Something was off, was wrong. Something was lurking, waiting and it was hardly a beast in the shadow. She furrowed her eyebrows as she stared hard at the water before her, slowly backing away. Absently, she reached up and began to twist her fingers through her long, platinum blonde tresses, a nervous habit. Biting down on her lip, she felt a wave of panic course through her veins and settle in the pit of her stomach. Yes, something was wrong, was off. She needed to leave. She needed to run.

Nesa strolled along the lush green grass, a small smile played across her soft lips as she felt the grass tickle her bare fare feet. Raising her arm she took a long drink from her bottle of rum, doing a little twirl before removing her mouth from the bottle. A drop of it ran down the corner of her mouth and down her chin, giggling she raised her hand and wiped the liquid away "Oopsie" she said still giggling softly to herself. "Messy, Messy, little Nesa" she said in a mocking scolding manner. Tendrils of her red hair floated in front of her face and across her nose, wrinkling her nose she sneezed and tucked the hair behind her ear. She itched her nose and scowled, she didn't like it, it kept itching and she felt like she had to sneeze again "Unpleasant...." she muttered.

After a moment she stopped scowling and straightened up the smile once more playing across her lips. She brought the rum to her mouth once more and held it there for a moment; nothing came out. She lowered the bottle pouting "The rum is gone....why is the rum gone?" she asked in bewilderment. Her frown deepened as she stared at the bottle, blinking she looked beside her "What do you want?" she asked staring at an exact replica of herself."Don't be so cold!" she responded with a mock pout "Well it's hard not to be when all you do is fool around..." she grumbled. "Well since I'm your doppelganger I guess it makes sense." she replied with a cheeky sort of a smile. Nesa stared at her doppelganger for awhile scowling "Wot's that s'posed ta mean?" she finally responded. "Oh dear you've gone and taken that little accent of yours....don't be so mad I just came to tell you why the Rum's gone!" she said the cheeky smile turning into a mischievous one. Nesa stared at her doppelganger dubiously but finally gave in "...Why?" she asked cautiously. Her doppelganger stared at her and leaned in closely "because......" she said trailing off her voice becoming deadly serious. "You drank it! she said raising her voice slightly trying to make it sound astonishing. Nesa stared at her a moment before trying to chuck the bottle at her unfortunately right as she had her arm drawn back her doppelganger disappeared. "Useless..." she muttered lowering her arm.

She stared at the empty bottle of rum frowning "I don't....remember drinking it all...." she murmured. Her frown turned lopsided and she shrugged throwing the bottle over her shoulder. A moment later she winced and snapped her finger, the bottle burst apart turning into dust and falling to the ground. "No littering, thats bad..." she said with a decisive nod. Her smile returned and she continued walking along the grass towards the lake. She hummed quietly to herself while she walked and skipped and twirled, dancing to the music playing in her head. Before long she could hear the flow of the waterfall and she smiled in spite of herself, she may not have been that fond of water but she didn't hate it. How could she, a water sprite, hate water? The idea was ludicrous.

"Splish, Splash, the fish swam up the stream." she suddenly sang out loudly and out of key. She brought a bottle of vodka to her lips and took a nice long drink before continuing on her way to the shores of the lake. She traveled along in relative silence, drinking from her bottle of alcohol at regular intervals. It wasn't long before the lake came into view and she stopped and stared at it, it certainly was quite pretty. "Green like my dress!" she said clapping and laughing. She scanned the area and stopped short a confused expression crossing her face, was that a person? They looked quite startled from what she could see but what did she know. She ran up a little closer and hollered out "HEY THERE LADY! WHAT CHYA DOIN?" her voice rang out clearly and bounced off the rocks echoing slightly. She stopped for a moment and blinked listening, did someone else just say something too? She waited for a minute in silence but she couldn't hear anything. So she shrugged and waved her arm at the woman, until she felt something that distinctly smelled strongly of alcohol splash onto her head. She stopped a befuddled look etching it's way onto her face. She slowly glanced upwards and stared at the bottle of vodka that was in her hand. "When did that get there?" she said blinking slowly. Tipping the bottle slightly she opened her mouth and let it pour into her mouth. Dropping her hand she sighed contentedly and looked out over the lake.

She saw the woman standing there and stared at her for a moment "When did you get here?" she asked raising her brows in surprise.

Was that woman...Ever sober? Ever? Again and again that damn sprite was seen stumbling around drunk enough to make sailor's collapse. Shaking his head Vis'karr returned his focus to the canvas he'd brought with him down to the lake. Blood dripped down from the hemomancer's palm, wetting the dry inks and giving him a palette to work with. Though it was rather hard to concentrate, having to keep one eye on that sprite. She'd ruined three of Vis'karr's previous five paintings, managing to knock down and destroy his two favorite easels.

It was most fortunate that Vis'karr was still learning the art of sanguine runecraft. Disturbing such delicate works, and the arcane power within generally had some pretty severe consequences. However, at this stage in Vallios' journey through the craft triggering one of the booby-trapped paintings would do little more than give the person who triggered them a nose bleed, maybe a head ache. So much to learn, and so little blood! There were few easy targets amongst the academy's 'students' and that blasted village was so nosy! Twice now he'd been interrupted during important rituals and driven away by an angry mob of superstitious fools. Even worse, the entire village seemed to know him and be able to spot him from a mile away.

The painting was coming along nicely despite distractions, canvas gradually becoming a beautiful landscape, the powerful waterfall that fed the lake captured in a most majestic manner. The blood and power within the ink would help this painting serve as an athiem of sorts, a conduit through which Vis'karr could channel more energy than he normally would...Should he ever be attacked within his dorm. The looming moon above was full and the horizon tinged crimson. Lo the witching hour, Viskarr's favorite time of day!

Strange things had been happening on the grounds, and danger seemed to lurk in every corner. Those who wished to survive would start preparing before things got serious. Also, it was good to have counter-measures in case anyone decided to try and figure out some of Vis'karr's darker secrets. Several ancient, cryptic tomes were on his bookshelf. Those books contained the blackest of magics, horrific spellcraft created by the darkest of infernal minds. Vis'karr really did not need anybody discovering he possessed such vile works.

Try as she might, Julietta couldn't will her feet to do what she longed for them to do--to run. No matter where her thoughts took her, no matter how great the fear, they just wouldn't move. Instead they remained fixed to the spot, feeling like lead as she tried her best to make her muscles contract and tense, all of her concentration and effort being placed into making her legs move. As her mouth went dry, her tongue darted out to lick at her lips. They were still soft and supple despite the fact that she felt as if she'd been stranded deep in the desert with nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.

Julietta's thoughts were running wild and rampant, her heart racing as her blood pumped hard within her veins. Never had she felt such a strange ominous presence before near these serene waters--a place she'd often come to for peace and quiet, to think, to be alone... Swallowing hard, she tried to clear her head, to refocus her mind and gather her wits. It was hard though seeing as her legs wouldn't move and it was suddenly becoming harder and harder to breathe.

What was it... what was it she was sensing?

Just then, there was a voice, a shout. Julietta's blue eyes went wide and she turned her head with a slight jerk toward the sound. It was then that she suddenly noticed the rushing whoosh of the waterfall. She'd been so tense and preoccupied that the sound had eluded her almost completely. So... odd... So... not like her... She was usually so aware of everything and usually to her detriment, or so people always seemed to want her to believe. Then again, who was she trying to kid. She longed for connections, something. Anything. But it was hard when so much darkness lurked in the shadows of the world.

Darkness with eyes. Those ever watching eyes. Eyes that follow, that stare, that peer into your soul.

Jullietta shook her head, her ears focusing on the voice. She furrowed her eyebrows as she suddenly noticed the source of the sound. A woman, red-head and a familiar looking one at that. She didn't know her overly well, in fact she didn't know her at all. But she recognized her from the academy. As she tilted her head, she wondered if she often came to the lake like she did or if this was just a coincidence. Knowing that she'd been seen, her thoughts on the strange feeling she'd had moments ago forgotten, she turned and suddenly began walking toward the woman. Apprehension filled her as she approached and the smell of something pungent--liquor?--filled her nose.

"H-hello," Julietta said softly, her body starkly pale against the moonlit night. As she continued her approach, she caught sight of another lurking about in the shadows. Just how many had come to the lake this night...? She hoped that none of them meant any harm and she wondered if any of them had felt the strange presence or if it had gone unnoticed by them all.

Nesa noticed that a silence had descended around the area and she blinked and shifted from one foot to the other. She might very well be a constantly drunken sprite but she could very well tell a tense atmosphere when she accidentally stumbles onto it and this was quite tense indeed. Her outburst seemed to have taken some of the edge off but not all of it, not fully. She frowned a little and watched the woman that had been beside the lake make her way towards her, she seemed jumpy and hesitant, had she interrupted something? She watched the woman's eyes dart off to the side and then return to her, was there someone else here with them? Her hands hung limply by her sides, swinging ever so slightly. A small nervous voice flowed from the girls lips, like a small stream and a tinkling bell. "'ello there lovely." she said smiling. She reached her hand up to her head as if about to grab something and started to bow down, mid-way she stopped and straightened up her hand still grasping at the air above her head "Wait...where did my hat go?" she said in surprise and confusion.

She felt around the top of her head, she glanced around herself turning in a complete circle looking at the ground. Suddenly she stopped and turned back to the woman a small blush on her face "I forgot....I didn't have a hat..." she said with a small chuckle. She knocked on her head and laughed some more "Silly Nesa is Silly. Thought I was wearing a hat!" she managed to get out between laughs. Her laughing grew louder and more hysterical the longer it went on. After a few minutes she stopped clutching her sides with one hand while the other wiped away a few tears falling from her eyes "Ah,Ah forgive me, silly me remembered something funny." she said catching her breath. Raising her arm she took another long drink of her alcohol. Removing the bottle from her lips she dropped her arm back down to her side "What might your name be?" she asked with a tilt of her head.

"Also if you don't mind my asking, what is that had you so....I guess frozen down there by the lake?" she asked casting a cursory glance to the lake. "OHH such a silly person you are!!" a voice from beside her said sounding exasperated. Surprised she let out a small scream, jumped and landed in an untidy heap, her arm outstretched trying to keep from spilling the alcohol. After much shifting and grunting she managed to get back to her feet and she glared at her doppelganger "What are YOU doing here?" she asked hotly, irritated that she'd reacted that way and almost lost her alcohol. Her doppelganger stood there her hands on her hips staring at the original as if she were the most dim-witted person in all the world. "Don't look at me like that!" she said looking away. "It's obvious that there is something dark and dangerous in that lake. You should have felt it being a water sprite yourself Nesa." she said glancing over to the lake and shivering.

Nesa blinked in surprise and glanced over to the lake and stared at it, in her mind she saw something massive and infinitely dark lurking in it's depths and she let out another shriek of surprise. She looked back at her doppelganger and disliked the self satisfied smile that was on her lips "Well...since YOU'RE my doppelganger and YOU felt it....that means that I DID sense it..." she muttered using her doppelgangers previous logic against her. The doppelganger blinked in surprise and agitation came over her features before she disappeared "Think you're such a know it all..." she muttered. She took another drink of alcohol before turning her attention back to the girl "Sorry, my doppelganger pops up from time to time to try and show off." she said with a little shrug.

Turning her head slightly she glanced over in the direction the girl had earlier and noticed someone off in the shadows "and there he was, lurking in the shadows, waiting to pounce on his unsuspecting victims! Isn't that a bit cliche?" she asked. A big smile formed on her lips and she had to hold back another bout of laughter. "Is he...painting?" she asked squinting her eyes trying to see better. "I think.....I vaguely remember him...or someone like him painting here before..." she said tapping her lower lip thoughtfully. After a few moments of silence and a failed attempt to remember something she shrugged and looked back at the woman. "Whats your name lass?" she asked with a smile.

Yes. He was in fact painting. Vis'karr stopped momentarily and cast his stern countenance upon Nesa. Those strange eyes blazed with enmity at her words. Of course he was painting! He'd been painting the last three times she'd quite literally ran into him! Did she honestly not remember the mishaps? Well, the painting was complete...At least, the part involving paint. The lake looked tranquil and beautiful, the waterfall's power and majesty captured perfectly. Vis'karr was surprised he'd managed to maintain focus well enough to finish the piece with that sprite staggering around. Seeing no other detail that needed to be added Vis'karr bent down and washed his brush in the lake. Residual cursed blood on the brush made the water hiss and roil in tormented protest. The taint spread along the water, casting a bloody film across the lake that continued to slowly spread. Next came the part he really, really, really hated. With a grimace Vis'karr retrieved a long slender knife from it's sheath at his belt. The first incision that had been made when the painting started had already closed and healed. Fighting back a howl of pain Vis'karr drove the point of the knife deep into his palm and then dragged the jagged edge back all the way to his thumb.

Crimson blossomed from the wound, flowing like a river down pale banks. Every drop of blood that splashed onto the grass began to hiss and steam as it soaked into the earth. The grass around Vis'karr withered and died, the blight spreading with each drop. Vis'karr's right hand worked gracefully the air, fingers moving to aid in the creation of arcane sigils. Blood from the wound followed Vis'karr's fingers, splashing across the canvas in a manner reminiscent of 'abstract art'. Seven strokes that converged into the crude shape of a person. The blood sank into the art and vanished, leaving no visible trace of the runework. Vis'karr could feel the power that lay dormant in the piece of art though, the spell had taken full hold. The water near where Vis'karr had created the rune would remain desecrated until the residual energy faded...Which would probably take a few hours, maybe even a day.

The air was thick with something strange and sinister, Julietta's mind snapped to the inky waters of the lake for a brief moment as her cool eyes fixed upon its ripples before looking back at the odd woman. She tilted her head as she stared at her, trying to read her, to gauge her intentions. She hoped the woman didn't feel as though she was being impolite, but these were strange times indeed. Shadows had eyes and they watched. Watched and waited. And when people had conversations with things that weren't... there... it made one wonder. Just then, more of that pungent odor struck at her nose and she tried her best not to crinkle it. Instead, she bit down on her lip and smiled, curtseying slightly in return. It was an old fashioned gesture. But then, that was her way. She was never one to do things of the modern norm, drawn more to the serene. Perhaps that was why water beckoned her as it did, why it chose her. Cursed her...

"I am Julietta," Julietta spoke softly. "Though most simply call me Julie. I will answer to either." Again, she smiled, her hand reaching to twist at several strands of platinum.

As Julietta watched the red-head, she wondered what her purpose was. She talked to invisible things... or were they shadows? A pang of fear suddenly washed over her and she began to tremble, frightened at the idea that the monsters might have followed her to the one place she typically found solace, peace... until... she noticed the other to whom she was speaking. There was another! Instantly, a wave of relief washed over her. It was as if all the calming waters of the world suddenly ran over her flesh and washed her clean. A smile crept over her lips at the notion of a twin. Though the woman had called it a... doppleganger? Still, how lovely to have someone to trust. But there was still another with them all. That other she'd seen moving about. Her head turned to see who it was. The red-head seemed to know him. Whether that was something that she should find comfort in or not, she was still uncertain. Her time at the academy hadn't been long so she hadn't met very many and her fears made those numbers even fewer than it would be for most given things.

It made Julietta ache that she was always so afraid of everything, especially people. Fearful of closeness, yet yearning for it with a desperation that it made her want to weep. Often times she'd find herself sobbing, her tears staining her face as she'd cry over her longings for friends, for intimacy, for anything, yet... It was a vicious cycle and she hoped that she could one day break it.

"Might I ask you your name?" Julietta then asked the red-head, her lips still upturned into a smile. She then glanced back toward the person she'd been referring to. A painter? He seemed to be waving his arms about in a strange sort of motion. Just what was he doing... why...? It seemed to have purpose and it caused a chill to run along her spine since she didn't understand it. "Who is he and what is he doing?" she then asked, gesturing toward the painter.

Nesa blinked several times in rapid succession; name? Her name, what was her name....she furrowed her brows in fierce concentration. "Oh yeah! I'm Nesara Illia. You can call me Nesa. I'm a Shojo, pleasure to meet you!" she said with a smile. Her gaze returned to the surface waters of the lake, she had always been very in tuned with creatures that dwelt within the waters, but this one, she had to concentrate very hard just to be able to sense it, it troubled her. She absentmindedly took a drink of her alcohol "I hate when she's right....." Nesa muttered before returning her attention back to Julie. "As to who he is, I couldn't tell you. I vaguely remember running into someone who was painting by this lake before, they were very rude people." she said wrinkling her nose. She glanced back up to the painter and tilted her head from side to side. "As to what he's doing, only the god's know. With all the freaky people attending this school..." she said trailing off "He could be some freaky demon creature whose doing some weird painting and putting a spell on it." she said with a smile her tone completely light and playful.

It went silent and Nesa noticed the nervousness the girl just exuded. She raised her brow a bit but didn't really comment on it, in this school people had many problems and fears and some of them were for very good reason. She very well knew what haunted the halls of the academy as well as what lurked on it's grounds. What's worse is the academy itself has had a long history of students and teachers vanishing and the Head of the school was missing as well. It was no wonder people were nervous, scared and mental. If she weren't so drunk all the time she might be as well. She took another drink from her alcohol and cleared her throat. "So...how long have you been here Julie?" she asked with a curious glance. Without turning her head she raised her voice and asked "and how long I wonder is that guy gonna skulk around in the shadows like he's some cliched villain?" her voice was still playful and she let loose another fit of giggles.

After she'd calmed down enough she drank some more of her alcohol. "So, what is it thats brought you out here so late at night?" she asked eyeballing the remains of her liquor.

"Blood...Calls to blood." Vis'karr hissed.

Easel and painting dissolved into a pool of blood and then evaporated into energy that drifted away, off towards the school and eventually to Vis'karr's dorm. Sanguine Teleportation was quite the nifty trick and Vis'karr was quite glad he'd focused on mastering it. Any object of reasonable size imbued with the Hemomancer's blood could be recalled from or banished to his chambers. Unfortunately any attempts to actually transport himself in such a manner had ended in nothing besides Vis'karr's body breaking down into a puddle of blood. Being in such a liquid form was excessively unpleasant and incredibly strange and Vis'karr found it extremely hard to maintain presence of mind to actually move himself while in such a medium.

After a moment or two Vis'karr's focus shifted to the two women off in the distance. The sprite was not somebody Vis'karr was too fond of...However the other female he had not yet met. "Nothing better to do, might as well meet someone." With that thought Vis'karr made his way to the two, moving with a leisurely swagger. When the two were about ten feet away Vis'karr would stop and greet them.

"Evening. Lovely night, no?"

Julietta swallowed hard before biting down on her lip. This Nesa definitely seemed to have an air of confidence that she, herself, sorely lacked. She envied that and wondered if if a day would come when she'd feel comfortable in her own skin or in any sort of surrounding. She felt doubtful and an ache inside began to form at the thought. It was probably why she couldn't bring herself to be close to anyone or why she was always so afraid. If she couldn't even love herself, how could another reciprocate? No wonder she didn't have any friends. Carefully, she brought up a tiny hand and wiped at her eyes since she could feel them prickling with tears--dreadful, dreadful tears. How she hated that she was so emotional, so sensitive.

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Nesa," Julietta then replied giving the red-head a small curtsy. The wind blew just then, so she gave her robe a tug, pulling it closer to her body for warmth. As Nesa spoke about the painter, her thoughts drifted to him and the others attending Taunton. The academy definitely was full of colorful sorts. Sorts she feared she'd never meet, yet was terrified to interact with. Damn vicious cycle! "And I come out here often," she added, her pale eyes moving to gaze upon the rippling waters. She thought for a moment about the strangeness she felt earlier on. What had that been? It had felt wrong almost, off. "The water, it beckons me." Her voice went soft and she turned slightly to look down at the ground.

Just as Julietta was about to speak once more, her thoughts were interrupted. A voice, male, sounded from the darkest shadows and resonated in her ears. She turned a bit more and looked up. The painter had approached, revealing himself both to her and to Nesa. He didn't seem as odd as she'd expected. After Nesa's stories, she half expected some crazed lunatic to jump from the darkness and flail about. But, he seemed rather normal and polite... far from rude. It made her quirk a brow in wonder.

"H-hello," Jullietta said first looking at Nesa and then to the painter once more. "It is a lovely night, yes." She smiled then, her hands tugging a bit more on her robe. Her thoughts were curious as to why he'd be painting so late at night, but then this was Taunton. Everyone was curious. She gave the newly arrived painter a small curtsy--old fashioned, but her way. "N-nice to meet you. My name is Julietta, though some call me Julie. I answer to either." Again, she smiled, her eyes looking back over toward the water. "I usually find the water quite calming," she said, her tone a bit serene. She glanced back at both Nesa and the painter. "I come here often. The water tends to beckon me..."

"I can understand that. Blood beckons to me, and it's hard to ignore the call."

Vis'karr chuckled softly and looked towards the lake. With his blood in the water he could feel the life of every other creature in that lake. It was such an odd feeling, to be so aware of the life around you. Could he channel from here? Vis'karr decided to find out. One long fingered hand raised and pointed to the lake, palm facing the sky. Vis'karr curled his fingers inwards and inhaled deeply. The blood that was pooled at the lake's outer shore rose slowly up into the air and then flowed through the air to Vis'karr, twisting crimson ribbons around him. The blood then converged into an orb floating in Vis'karr's palm, swirling as it hovered in the air. Two fingers dipped into the sphere and then began to grasp at the air in front of the sphere, drawing out thin strands of blood. The strands were then woven into an object, slowly taking shape as a small crystal goblet. Vis'karr set the goblet down beside him and then crafted a second, and a third before the sphere was consumed. Vis'karr offered a goblet to Nesa, and a goblet to Julie. If Nesa was going to drink, she could at least do it with some class.

"I am Vis'karr, and I would truly enjoy a drink." The greeting was directed to both women, but the last words were at Nesa.

Besides the drunken sprite surely owed Vis'karr the pleasantries of at least one drink. After all she had ruined so very many of his paintings in the past. Vis'karr couldn't help but give both Julie and Nesa once overs, appreciating the beauty of both women. Was now a time for rakish charm? Why not, the witching hour had passed and Vis'karr felt quite drained from his runecrafting. A bit of social interaction would do the generally solitary hemomancer some good. How long had it been since he'd had a conversation with another living soul? A week? A month? Two? Well, a conversation that hadn't ended in ritual murder that is...Vis'karr tried to hide a smirk as he thought about his last little trip to the Village. Some day he'd turn that quaint little fountain of theirs into a blood fountain... And what a glorious day that would be.

Julietta took the goblet in her hand, her slender fingers wrapping about it as she brought it close to her body. It was strange how Vis'karr had managed to weave some sort of magic to bring forth the object. She tilted her head slightly as her curiosity began to grow. Perhaps he was cursed with a strange power much as she was? Though, how come he didn't seemed so bothered by it? How come he used it so freely in front of others? So many questions... and they all ran through her head. Surely her ability to control and manipulate water hadn't made it to the ears of everyone within the school. She'd been so careful to conceal what she could do. Then again, perhaps the creatures of shadow...

No. Julietta shook her head very slightly, her pale eyes blinking as they began to sting a bit with tears at the thought of being found out. She didn't know why it bothered her for others to know what she could do. Maybe it would do her well for some to know. She looked over at Nesa, but the sprite seemed lost in thought, the spirits she'd been consuming more than likely affecting her senses. Figuring the woman to no longer wish to partake in conversation for the time being, she looked back over at the painter--this weaver of red--and swallowed hard. Since Nesa wasn't about to fill up the goblets, she figured she needed to do something. Yes, she was backing herself into her own corner, purposefully forcing herself to give herself away.

Just then, Julietta looked over to the lake, her cool eyes fixing upon the inky waters as they rippled against the shore. Suddenly, tiny crystalline rivulets began to pull away from the lake, looking like thin streams flowing through the air. They swirled and froze, thawed and cracked and finally pooled in tiny clouds above their respective goblets. Within moments, the clouds gave way to tiny drops of rain, filling each one up to the brim with water.

Julietta looked at Vis'karr. "I know it isn't rum or wine. But hopefully the water will suffice," she said softly, trying her best to smile.

"Now that's special."

How delightful it was to watch the miniature clouds rain! That was a trick he'd definitely have to remember. Vis'karr had a penchant for arcana and was fascinated by any weaving of the flows of power. Next he tapped the edge of his goblet to Julietta's in a small cheers before taking a long sip from it. Surprisingly cool and refreshing!

"Thank you kindly for the drink Julietta."

This was quite enjoyable, it'd been awhile since Vis'karr had taken the time to socialize. Most of his time was spent perfecting his craft and cornering suitable sources of blood to fuel some of his darker rituals. Vis'karr had found that certain rituals helped keep his...Other side at bay. Vis'karr didn't like to think of that side of himself. Vicious, overly fond of gore and completely unrefined Vis'karr's demon soul wanted nothing more than to see the world choke on it's own blood. Vis'karr wasn't object to murder and violence, but he also didn't...Savor it. Any dark deed Vis'karr performed was merely a means to an end whereas numerous atrocities had been committed by the demon within Vis'karr, and had been done for no reason other than pleasure.

Something was moving in the shadows behind the two. The grass rustled ever so slightly as it slinked along at a slow, measured pace. Two luminous golden eyes burned against the dark night, watching the humans as they conversed. A lynx was stalking closer, it's pitch black fur seemed to melt away into the shadows if one looked for too long.

About ten feet out from the two the Lynx's body began to twist and contort, breaking down into a mass of shadow-flesh then sculpting itself into the lithe form of a short but well endowed woman...Enora made her way stealthily into place, wrapping her arms almost lovingly around Vis'karr's waist.

"I pray the evening finds you well...Master. And I see you've made a friend!

Enora's eyes flitted once, and twice over Julietta's figure, tongue straying out to wet her lips. Enora watched Julietta's every move in a manner reminiscent of a cat watching a particularly tasty mouse. Any who knew of Vis'karr knew that it was hard to catch him alone, Enora was always coming and going, popping in wherever he happened to be. After all, the succubus had to keep tabs on her ticket back to Hell, didn't she?

It had been a boring night, Enora hadn't managed to ensnare any foolish mortals with her infernal charms. So now she waited at Vis'karr's side, hoping his night had been more interesting than hers. She could practically taste the residual energy in the air from Vis'karr's previous spellwork and was hungry for more, for any kind of mortal energy she could siphon away.

"And who might you be?" Enora purred to Julietta.

Julietta smiled, her cheeks going a bit pink. Never had she been complimented for what she'd deemed a curse before, so it was a strange feeling to be sure. Though she found it nice to not have to hide it and even more so to see it accepted and even praised. She wasn't used to that and had always felt freakish for what she was and could do. It was why she was always paranoid of everyone she met, terrified of the judgment they'd cast... all too often they had and she became the target of many a nasty and cruel joke. She couldn't bear any more and needed to take the defensive, to build up walls to protect herself. So, to not need them? It was... strange.

"You're welcome," Julietta then said. She held onto her own goblet and then slowly brought it to her lips before taking a small sip of the water. It was cool and refreshing. Absolutely delicious and just what she needed. She was glad it seemed to satisfy.

As she and her new painter friend sipped at their water, her eyes took notice of shadows slinking in the darkness beyond. Almost immediately, Julietta felt her skin prickle. The shadows. They were coming! They'd found her! Her breaths began to quicken at the thought, her mind spinning with morbid swirls. She could feel her hands shaking, her feet preparing themselves to run. Yet, why was she frozen? Panic!

Suddenly, a woman stepped forward. Julietta felt a wave of relief sweep over her entire body, especially when Vis'karr seemed to know her. But that didn't stop her heart from racing. Her pale eyes darted back and forth between the woman and her new friend. Were they lovers? It seemed so... But this woman... her actions... so forward!

"I'm Julietta," Julietta answered. "I just met your..." her voice trailed a moment. What was Vis'karr to this woman? She called him 'Master'. "Your Master." Her voice squeaked as she spoke and she bit down on her lip, her cheeks reddening a bit. Almost instantly, she brought her cup to her lips and began to drink deeply of the water within so as to hide her face for a bit as well as her naivete.

"Pleased to meet you Julietta. I am Enora...And my master, well I think he likes you." A devilish smirk curled across Enora's lips as she sniffed at the air just once.

Oh how Enora loved watching mortals squirm! This Julietta seemed like the perfect toy to occupy tonight. Shy and skittish, she'd be so much fun! Enora slipped her hands beneath Vis'karr's shirt and began to trace light lines against his flesh, watching Julietta with those luminescent eyes the entire time. This would be one of the rare times Enora used her 'gifts' on Vis'karr, empowering her touches so that Vis'karr found himself unable to fight back, unable to push those roaming hands away. Enora's pupils contracted as she practically drank in the growing hunger that emanated from Vis'karr.
"No denying it...I can smell it."

"Enora..." The words started as a protest and ended a lazy purr.

Somehow, the look of pleasure didn't extend to Vis'karr's eyes. Defiance burned in those crimson orbs as Vis'karr tilted his neck to the side, encouraging more of Enora's affections. The expression on Vis'karr's face was akin to that of a person attempting to ignore an overly enthusiastic cat's efforts to garner attention. Any pretense Julietta might have of the two being lovers could easily be dispelled if she paid attention to Vis'karr's body language. Enora was being tolerated at best, her presence only allowed because of the dark pact the two had made. Vis'karr took a sip of water to wet his drying throat and attempted to re-ignite a conversation between Julietta and himself.

"The evening has indeed found me well. So, Julietta...What else can you do with that lovely gift of yours?[/i]

This Enora was unlike anyone she'd ever met. Was she mocking her, trying to make her uneasy? It most certainly seemed that way to Julietta. She bit down on her lip, wishing that she could better hide the heat rising up in her cheeks, causing them to appear scarlet even in the dark and almost colorless hues of night. The harsh silvery rays of moonlight that shone down were enough to give her away. No doubt satisfying this odd woman given the smug look she was donning, her hands freely roaming her 'Master' without care for who was present.

Julietta glanced briefly at Vis'Karr, her pale eyes finding his for a moment as he spoke before she looked to the ground. "I... I can manipulate water," she said. "Control it, call it..." Her thoughts drifted as her eyebrows furrowed slightly.

Julietta had often wondered just how far her bond with water truly went. Water in its purest form always beckoned her and had been easiest to control. But she also found that she could do things with ice, with snow, even various weather patterns when present or nearby. But another part--a darker part--had felt that strange pull toward other sources of water... She didn't always like thinking on that. It frightened her, gave her nightmares, left her... breathless.

As Julietta's mind drifted, she'd absently begun to move her one hand in a lazy circle. A small ribbon of water lifting from the lake and swirling about her body like a hoop. It spun, the ribbon finally expanding, becoming thicker and thicker. Slowly, it started to move above her body, roiling and bubbling until it turned into mist. Finally, flecks of snow began to fall.

"I can do many things with water..." Julietta stated, her cheeks still pink, her eyes still focused on the ground.
