The man holding onto the chains quickly dropped them as the sword came at him and began to slice at his flesh. His friend let out a shout as the sword cut at his body in turn. All too quickly, he ran away leaving his friend behind to suffer the consequences of his actions. After all, he'd tried to warn him of the look he'd seen forming in the man's eyes. It wasn't his fault he'd decided to shrug it off. "Where are you going?" the one man shouted as his friend ran off, not once looking back. "Traitor! I'll get you later!" He then turned back toward the man with the sword. But it was no use. He was no match for him, especially now that he was alone. For good measure, he threw in a lucky punch that managed to connect to an arm. But it was a sad attempt at best. He was outmatched and alone and, to make matters worse, a small crowd of onlookers was gathering to watch the scuffle.
Kelly watched excitedly from his little hiding spot in the shadows. This had been a most interesting scene indeed thus far. He'd definitely have to find out more about the girl who'd been the center of so much attention. Who knew chains on a woman could bring out the beast in men?! Such primitives indeed.
Alice looked up at the dignified man who was helping her. She was grateful that he'd arrived when he had, that he'd broken off some of the chains, not to mention the hold the one man had on her only moments ago. He truly was her savior and never had she felt safer than she did right then. It was a miracle he'd found her and she would do whatever she could to repay him for his kindness. "Thank you," she said softly while trying to stay out of his way so he could take care of the awful man who'd tried to take her away with him.

Gen smiled as the young man spoke of his foster brothers. She was glad that he was interested in attending her show and that he seemed enthusiastic at the idea of inviting his family along as well. It was nice to know that others were interested in what she did and shared in the excitement of it all. It made the atmosphere happy and bubbly and with the colder months fast approaching, it was good to be in such high and festive spirits.
As the two continued their conversation, the older male from earlier approached causing the younger one to get flustered. Gen couldn't help but giggle softly as they interacted. She had to admit it made her slightly envious to see such a display. She wished her own family life had been like that--happy, fun. But sadly, hers had been far from that. It was one she hoped to never revisit or return to. It was why she vowed to never return to Uscat, not unless she knew for certain that both her father and ex-boyfriend were dead.
Giggling softly, Gen looked at the young man after the older one left. "Well, I'd love to join you for dinner. Do you live here in Inalt?" she asked him. "I will have to speak to our ringmaster, Louis Kraven, though before I go anywhere. Just so he's aware I've ventured anywhere too far. We have a show tomorrow night. And I have to practice some tomorrow."
Gen also needed to speak to Louis about whether or not the rumors she'd heard about the carnival traveling to Uscat were indeed true. She knew the carnival had indeed avoided the city over the past year because of her... but the troupe couldn't avoid the place forever over a single member. She knew that. But it would mean she'd have to stay behind in Inalt for that time and meet back up with them afterwards.
"By the way, my name is Genevieve Marist. Though please, call me Gen," Gen then said, still smiling warmly at the man.
