Burned By a Job Description-IwishXHahvoc-

"You are supposed to be some skilled killer, yes? Why would I warn you? One such as yourself should always be....on. your. guard," Howl said, having appeared at Bear's ear, the blood having drawn him close. He had sneaked his way back over, having heard the other man bitching and making quite a racket. The lamp that he had smacked into had wobbled and jangled from it's holding. Howl had reached up and turned the lamp on, light filling the area with a warm glow. Really? The agency had sent this man? They clearly hadn't prepped him for anything. Anyone should never let someone else make them drop their guard if they were out for blood - especially someone trained for it!

"Oh, you poor thing. You've gone and cut yourself. Want me to kiss it better?" Howl grinned, golden eyes bright in the glow cast from the oil lamp. He did have electricity running in the main den, but in the tunnels, it was more efficient to have oil lamps since the lights could be dimmed or brightened for his preference. And usually they were off. Plus, he liked the smell and taste of the heat in the air from the burning oil. Smirking at the man, he almost thought to cut off his path and press him against a wall but instead, he only pressed close enough to make him uncomfortable.

"You make it far to easy for me to see you as prey and yet your big mouth ruins your pretty face," laughing a little, Howl shrugged his shoulders before turning, waving for the man to follow him out of the tunnel, humming a little tune from his homeland as he walked, keeping his pace slow and even so the other man could reach him.

Skilled hunter he was. A frown appeared on Koda's face as he stood there, eyes narrowed as those words brushed against his ear. The fact that he was so close made a shiver run through his spine. The air in the tunnel had seemed to shift only slightly when howl had appeared beside him and it wasn't until the object he ran into burst into light that he realized what had happened. So there was lights in this damn place. A soft snort came from Koda, glaring up at the offending object as Howl continued to speak. He was only half listening to him, only paying attention to him when he drew even closer. It wasn't until that moment that he noticed he was shorter than the other male. Not much but it was enough that he had to tilt his chin up slightly to look up into Howl's face. That was annoying.

"Good. You should see me as Prey. Let me get close." He said the words softly, watching the other man shrug before turning around to head down the tunnel again. His pace was slow and he was humming now, a tune he had no idea about. So, not a vampire. What vampire would let this chance slip by? His blood was flowing freely and the man had just turned and left him. Though it had effected him. His reaction had been to draw closer but he hadn't tasted. Didn't even show any signs that he was going to attack him. that made him frown. This was becoming more and more confusing. Snorting again he pushed away from the wall, making sure he was steady on his feet before he started after Howl quickly. He wasn't going to allow him to get far ahead of him again. And this time he was looking out for the lamps.

"Name. Tell me your name. Since you know mine. It's the least you could do after leading me down this damned tunnel."

"It's Howl," he replied, looking over his shoulder at the other man. He seemed shaken up by the fact that Howl didn't go after the blood but teased him instead. It was just like Howl to do that though. He would tempt and lure before devouring his prey in sensual, beautiful, torturous pleasure. He could already feel Bear being drawn in but his resistance was particularly high. It made the dragon frown, but at the same time grin in glee. It was rare to meet a fighter like this and he was always up to the challenge. Not all dragons were lazy hoarders after all.

"And you did decide to follow me," he corrected, pointing a finger at Bear and shaking it at him playfully. Reaching up, he turned on another lamp and set it to dim, allowing just enough light for the human's eyes without giving away too many of the dragon's secrets. When was he going to figure it out? He wondered if perhaps his thoughts were too clouded by his mission that he didn't realize the dangers that were lurking right in front of him. Perhaps, perhaps. With a quick smile, Howl turned down a small series of twisty tunnels, turning on some of the lamps as he went to get Bear just a little spot of light while he walked. Not too long after, they were outside, the sun starting to fall out of the sky. Stretching out his back, Howl made a pleased sound before relaxing, eyes scanning the forest before looking back to Bear.

"So what exactly did you want? I forgot."

"Howl. That's unusual." He mumbled the words softly, continuing to watch the man before him. Koda rolled his eyes at the man when he pointed a finger at him, telling him he had decided to follow. Yea, he had but that didn't mean he had to take him in some obviously stupid circle. All he wanted was information. Nothing more nothing less and this bastard wasn't giving him that. Every now and again he would reach up and turn on a lamp, just bright enough that he would be able to see a little ways before turning on another. Obviously he didn't want him bumping into anything else again. Or maybe he just didn't want to hear him complain again. That was fine with him. The last thing he wanted to do was run into another one of those damn lamps again. It was just too tiresome to avoid all of them and if it got to dark again he knew for certain this bastard was going to eat him.

It wasn't long before a bright light appeared at the end of the tunnel, making Koda squint slightly as he lifted a hand up against the light. The sound of birds and the breeze shifting through leaves alerted him to the fact that it led outside. He stopped at the mouth of the cave, glaring at Howl. "Dragon. I'm looking for the dragon. Why the hell have you brought me here?" He knew one thing for certain. This wasn't good. It wasn't going to end good and his walls came right back up. As if howl hadn't gotten even slightly past them at all. He was on high alert again. "Have you brought me here to be that bastards lunch? Cause i'm not going to be that easy to take down."

"Maybe I have. Would you lay down and bare yourself to be devoured?" His tone hinted at a more sexual nature than being eaten but he wasn't sure if Koda would pick up on it. Honestly, he was just too focused on his mission! Didn't he know how to live a little? Stretching out his back, Howl soon let out a sigh and then turned to look at Koda with a bit of a grin. Should he just reveal himself or just let Koda go on his way and say he didn't know where this dragon was? That he had been playing a game? Decisions, decisions.

"Right, a dragon. It had just slipped my mind. Those tunnels are so confusing sometimes. However, I'm not really sure what you wish to accomplish. I won't give you information because I don't have to and you won't get information because you don't know how to get it. So we're at an impasse. Perhaps I should leave you here to try to figure out where you are on your own?" Quirking a brow, he crossed his arms before reaching into the pocket of his slacks and removing a cigarette and lighter, lighting the stick with a small puff of air. As the smoke filtered out, Howl couldn't help but grin. They were pretty stuck out here but the dragon knew his way around. Did little Bear know how to get out of the woods?

He snorted at the question, refusing to move an inch from where he was. what if the beast truly was out there? He wasn't going to be some lizards lunch, or he supposed dinner now. It truly was getting late. If he didn't find the beast soon he was going to have to try another day, cause like hell he was going to be spending the night out here. Especially not with Howl. The bastard would probably devour him the moment he let his guard down even a little.

The next words made him frown even more, rolling his eyes slightly. "It hadn't. If it had you wouldn't of said what you just said a moment ago, about being devoured." He huffed darkly. Koda could tell when he was being played around with and Howl was doing just that. His arm's came up and folded over his chest, contemplating the forest for a moment before he looked back to the man before him now smoking. "What do you want?" It was a bold question coming from Koda. It wasn't in his nature to give something he truly didn't want to give but he knew how to compromise.. sort of. Maybe he could talk Howl into giving him what he wanted without giving Howl exactly what he wanted.

"Well, sometimes my thoughts just run together. My apologies," Howl said with a small grin, smoke filtering out of his mouth as he spoke. He stood there a moment just watching Bear until his eyebrows lifted at the question, having to restrain himself from laughing. However, a small chuckle did slip out and he stepped a bit close to Bear, watching him and his posture. The poor human really had no idea what Howl wanted and it was obviously that he was clueless as to why Howl was toying with him. It was cute, in a way. He could tell that Bear was thinking about getting what he wanted, but Howl was hardly the type to just let a delectable little treat like this human get away from him so easily. He was a hoarder of beautiful things, after all.

"Isn't it obvious? I want you, plain and simple." Letting out a small puff of smoke, Howl grinned, tucking a hand back into his pocket after moving a strand of hair from his line of sight.

"Me." There was confusion in his voice for a moment. What did that have to do with any of this? He truly didn't get it and it was completely obvious on his face. Frowning darkly he stepped froward, just enough to be out of the cave entrance and in the waning sunlight. "To do what more with?" He huffed darkly, glancing around the trees that was surrounding them. How the hell had he gotten all the way out here? Was information worth this bullshit? Beyond that what did Howl even want with him?

"You've already gotten me lost. Led me into the middle of no where, stole a kiss from me and fed me false words. As i see it maybe you should just tell me what i want to know for all the trouble you've given me so far." As he spoke he had moved closer to the man, feet moving without his consent. Once more he could feel himself being drawn into the man before him, those golden eyes calling out to him as if they could give him all the answer's he could ever want to know. The moment he noticed however his feet faltered, taking a shaky step back as his eyebrows crunched together. He had never felt like this before, it was intriguing feeling but he couldn't allow himself to drown into it. "Tell me. And i'll see about giving you what you want."

"Are you that dense? Yes, you, to torment and drown in pleasure. And pain, if you like that sort of thing," Howl said with a small shrug, grinning still as he finished off his cigarette. The boy had gotten so close and then stepped back as if drawn to him. What a lovely reaction but Howl wasn't going to let him live it down that easily. Stepping up close to the boy, he leaned in, not too close but definitely enough to make the other man uncomfortable.

"You want me but don't want to admit it, however, I'm not that sort of man. I take what I want without remorse or apology. And fed you false words? Dear boy, I haven't said a single lie. You just haven't asked the right questions." Smirking, Howl took a step back, eyes locked onto Bear's. He knew that he was messing with the kid's head, but he couldn't help it. He loved seeing those animated expressions. They were just too cute.

Koda frowned. Torment and drown in pleasure. Did this idiot think he was just going to hand himself over for something like that? Seeing as he was.. whatever he was. Human was one thing but nonhuman. Like he would be with something like that. Especially with him not knowing exactly what he was. When Howl stepped towards him he faltered for a moment, catching himself before he stepped back and away. Yea, this wasn't getting him anywhere. Slowly koda released a breath, glancing once again at the surrounding trees. This time Koda stepped forward again, eyes narrowing as they locked on those beautiful gold ones.

"They may not of been false but you never gave me a straight answer. I say that's close enough to a lie. Beyond that you keep telling me that you don't know where the dragon is when you so obviously do. That's lying as well. I've asked the right questions. Your the one not giving me the right answers." This time he didn't falter as he moved closer to Howl, stopping just short of him to put them toe to toe. "And to the not admitting thing. I do want you but i'm not a fool. I don't go around throwing myself at things like you. My job's more important than pleasure and sure as hell is more important than you." Koda had had just about enough of this. "Maybe i should just come back at another time. Possibly when your not around." With that he turned around, giving the cave entrance once more glance before he started to head towards the trees. He could survive in the woods. It wasn't that hard. And it wasn't the first time. He would just have to find high ground to figure out where he was and then head for home. Or possibly some place that he could catch a ride back home.

"Bear. Come. Here." Howl said, his voice deep, commanding, and controlled. It was different from how he usually spoke and his easy manner was still present but had been dulled like the stars when morning began to arrive. Howl didn't like when people walked away from him, but the flippant manner was something that got on his nerves. First, he was liar, and now he was being left behind like a cheap suit? Tsk, tsk. He wasn't going to put up with that at all.

"As I said before, you aren't asking the right questions, but you're missing the point. If you want a straight answer, ask a direct question. I promise to answer your questions, if you ask me properly. You are technically at my mercy...especially if I just decided to have you for dinner," That grin was back and so was his easy manner, but there was a predatory glint to his eyes that was more prevalent and his teeth looked sharper than before. Maybe he was slipping or perhaps he was just getting hungry.

He didn't know why his feet suddenly stopped moving at Howl's order, didn't even know why he turned to look back at the man but he did. As if he didn't truly have a choice. As if Howl's ordered could not be left ignored. Even if that was exactly what he wanted to do. Ignore them, act as if he had said nothing and go on his damn way but he couldn't. Couldn't control himself as he turned around to look at Howl, staying silent as he listened to the mans words. "Asking the right questions." He scoffed darkly, rolling his eyes as a hand came up to rub at his temple for a moment. This was giving him a headache.

"Fine." He almost snarled the word, turning fully back around to look at Howl. It was then that he noticed the look on the man's face, so much more like a predator than it had before. It made his eyes narrow, arms folding across his chest. For the moment he was going to ignore the dinner comment, seeing as it wasn't like he was an easy meal to begin with. He thought he had proven that a few moments ago when he had destroyed the man's suit jacket. "Then i will ask again. Seeing as the last time hadn't been direct enough. Where is the dragon? is he close by? And if so can you take me to him?" That was direct enough, wasn't it? This whole thing revolved around the dragon in the first place, didn't it? "Or better yet who is the dragon?"

"I certainly didn't hear a please," Howl said, mimicking Bear's scoffing. Shrugging his shoulders lightly, they cracked and loosened, making him sigh. He hated when his joints got all tense and out of place. It made it harder for him to focus on what was going on before him. Having seen Bear stop and turn around made him feel a shiver on the inside, knowing that he hadn't lost his touch yet. Stepping up to Bear, he grinned further before slowly licking his lips, moving his hand so that the fingertips were a hair's breadth away from the other man's face.

"But I will be lenient and at least answer one of your questions....You see, your sources weren't wrong, but you were misinformed, little Bear. I am the dragon," His eyes flashed to looking more reptilian but they had an almost cat-like reflection to them as well - a magical mix-match of beauty and predation that looked like it could consume Bear if Howl wished it so. A puff of smoke left Howl's lips that shouldn't have been possible as he spoke again.

"How confident are you now, little Bear, trapped in my domain?"

Koda rolled his eyes, sighing softly. Did the bastard seriously expect a please out of him? He was an assassin. Sent to kill a dragon and this guy wanted a please. Maybe he should of thrown a fucking chair at him instead of a carpet. Maybe then he would of had the real information out of him instead of having to go through all this bullshit. Though he had to admit, at least he was being good enough to give him an answer. Even if it did take having him almost walk away. That was curious though. His eyes narrowed at Howl as he continued to speak, having moved right up in front of him. It almost made him want to step back, to put space between them but once again his feet weren't listening.

Those eyes only narrowed further when Howl said that he was the dragon, watching those eyes shift between that brilliant gold and more like a reptile. He probably should have known better. The agency's info was never wrong. Slowly Koda released a breath , tearing his eyes away from Howl's face in thought. It made sense now. The watch, not letting him leave. His words about collecting beautiful things. Howl had called him such a thing, hadn't he? His eyebrows crunched together, obviously ignoring Howl as he thought this through. Though one word did catch his attention. "Trapped? How could i be trapped?" There was obvious confusion on his face, something that was completely different than he was sure howl had been expecting. Maybe anger or fear but not this. Koda wasn't as surprised as he probably should of been, seeing as he didn't know that Dragons could morph between human and their scales. "Last i checked i was outside of your cave."

"You are really silly and ignorant aren't you? A dragon's territory, depending on his size, strength, and age, can range from five leagues...to something closer to fifty leagues, which encompasses about half the city and the surrounding forest depending on his location. My home cave is located right outside the city and on the edge of the forest...This entire city and the forest for up to forty miles belongs to me and me alone. I know the city and the forest inside and out. You know how big of a territory that is? sixty leagues. My territory ends at the next city's boundary line." Howl's eyes glowed with amusement before he laughed. He hadn't been given enough information and as much as he was giving away his secrets, he knew that the agency would never be able to find all his hiding places. He had strong friends in high places that the agency couldn't even touch. This cave, if Howl felt that Bear would return with forces, could be completely emptied by the coming morning. There would be no trace left of Howl and he would establish himself somewhere else in his territory. He had earned this little spot and he planned on keeping it. Taking a step back to stretch out, Howl soon gave Bear a bored look.

"I think I'll just leave you here for the wolves to find. They happen to like me, unlike you humans. Perhaps I'll just watch while they tear your body apart or...you could always just give up and be mine. The agency wastes your talents, after all." Howl said with a smile, holding his hands behind his back and standing up like a gentleman despite his shifted eyes. Night was starting to fall fast. He could feel the creatures moving around in the forest and hear them as well. Some were just waking up while others were going to sleep. The forest was coming to life either way and he wondered what Bear would pick. Howl or fate.

Silly, did that bastard just call him silly? It made Koda take a step back, eyebrows crunched together as he watched Howl continued to speak. What he said made him frown all the darker, trying to piece together what he knew of dragons and what Howl was telling him. Did that mean Howl was an ancient dragon? Why would the agency send him out here to kill such a dragon on his own? With limited knowledge. It was like they expected Howl to kill him. That thought process stopped right there, giving a small shake of his head as his eyes darted to the trees. The sun was starting to set which worried Koda. And he didn't know how close the town was from here but if what Howl told him was true, then the town couldn't of been that far. It wasn't as if they had walked for hours on end to get here. And the tunnels had twisted and turned, there was no telling how short the distance could be.

The choice was an easy one to make for Koda. "Like i would willingly give myself over to you." He scoffed slightly as he turned and once again headed for the trees. If Howl had thought stopping him the first time to spout this crap at him would convince him to stay he was wrong. His decision was the same the second time as it had been the first and he didn't so much as turn around and look back at Howl as he made his way towards the woods.
