Bang! Bang!
There it was again. That insufferable, idiotic sound that drove him out of bed every now and again. It had to be the most annoying thing he had ever heard. A noise that he was most certain he could live the rest of his life never hearing again. But there it was, no matter how much he wished it would disappear. The sound of knuckles against metal, resounding through the house each time they hit. It grated his nerves, urged him from his bed and forced him to his feet. Slowly, very slowly he moved forward, heading toward the door that was being knocked upon. Upon reaching it he paused, hand coming up to run through his dark brown hair messing it up more than it had already been. These bastards. Always waking him up too soon after finishing a job they had commissioned from him before. Unbolting the door he yanked it open, green eyes narrowing at the rather short man standing before him. Jadyn, a blue eyed, blonde haired boy of the age of nineteen was standing outside his door. His boss's messenger and lover when the need arises.
"Now what the fuck do you want. I just got back from the last job, what more could you want of me on such short notice." It wasn't exactly a question, no really he already knew what they wanted him for. It was what they always wanted him for. He was an assassin, one of the best. Commissioned, believe it or not, by the people who watched over those dark things that lived around the humans. He himself just so happened to be human, which meant it was easiest for him to get close to such beings, them thinking he was easy prey when really they were falling for a trap. If Jadyn was here that meant that there was someone, well something, they wanted him to take care of for them. "A dragon this time, Bear." Bear, a codename he had picked up from an old nickname. His name was Koda. Yes, like the bear cub from that stupid child movie. That was where it came from. His parents always called him Koda Bear. His boss had liked it so that was what he was called from then on. "A dragon. You've got to be fucking kidding me." He huffed darkly, turning on his heels to make his way back into the small apartment he was living in for the moment. He moved every now and again, making sure to keep his presence short no matter where he was. It was a hassle if people started noticing him, they always asked too many questions and the last thing he wanted was questions. Questions that people always wanted answers to and it was too much of a hassle to try and keep up with all the lies he would have to tell, it was easier to just move.
"Where." He didn't wait for Jadyn to come into the apartment, instead walking back to his bedroom to start yanking out clothes to pull on. It was best to scope out his target rather than wait around to be informed about it. Easiest way to learn something was to go there yourself. "Outside of town. He hadn't been on our radar because he usually keeps to himself but lately he's been coming out during the day and there had been reports of sightings. The last thing we need is this leaking out and the easiest way to do that is to destroy the problem." Koda gave a small grunt, yanking on his boot before he returned to the living room. Jadyn hadn't stepped one foot into the door, staying right where koda had left him. The boy knew that koda didn't have a problem with killing him if he decided he wanted to come inside. He'd slit his throat before he had time to step back out. Koda was a rather private person, hard to handle and rather particular on everything he did. "Okay." Reaching out he grabbed the door, intending to slam the door in the boys face but paused when the boy held out a piece of paper towards him. Frown he paused only for a moment before he snatched the paper and slammed the door. One glance and he already knew what it was. A map to where he needed to go.
~~~ three hours later ~~~
He had scoped out the area. Had circled it multiple times, checked for foot prints. Any sign that a so called dragon had been going in and out of the rather small cave. This was where the map had pointed out to him. This was where he was supposed to be. But why the hell did it seem like too small for any kind of dragon he knew of? Weren't they large, scale covered, fire breathing lizards? If so.. wouldn't it be living some place larger than this? He couldn't see inside very well, no matter how he squinted his eyes or tried to peer inside the dark hole. He could of course wait it out but he rather wanted to get this over with rather quickly. Pulling in a breath he stepped forward, ducking his head slightly because of how tall he was and how short the cave truly was. Thankfully his black clothes allowed him to blind beautifully into the darkness, moving along the wall and feeling his way down inside. The tunnel seemed to go on straight forward before suddenly it started to move downwards, leading him towards what could only be described as a bright light at the end of the tunnel. He couldn't help but feel as if he was dying and being pulled back out of the darkness. It was an odd feeling, one that he didn't truly want to shake off just yet.
When he almost reached the end he paused, green eyes glancing around what was in the light. It appeared to be a large cavern but someone had transformed it into almost a home. A fireplace, chairs, rugs, and things of the like were here and there. As if someone had taken the time to carefully place everything just like that. A fire lit the place up beautifully, showing off the large expanse of the room itself. This wasn't what he had been expecting at all and he found his feet moving on their own. Confusion crossed his beautiful features, lips slightly parted as he moved into the room. Usually he would be more prepared than this, usually he knew what he was truly up against but because he didn't know, because he was so surprised he didn't take out the knife he had hidden on his belt. Didn't even think about it as he stepped into the room. It was so odd, this whole thing was just so odd. "What the fuck.."
