As Orania's voice rose, her soprano hitting her highest notes, then descended into a throaty growl, she knew she had the audience where she wanted them. Actually, she had herself where she wanted to be, right at the point where she stopped being just her, and instead became some sort of avatar for her music, a conduit for for her art.

She had been nervous before entering the stage. She almost always was, especially when performing at a new venue, before a new audience. She had learned not to fight her stage fright, instead feeling it, mentally probing it. It gave her an edge, an energy she could use.

She had counted the seconds, counting down to the moment when a stage technician whispered, "You are live, and you may go on anytime from.. now!". There had been no announcement of her arrival, just like she had asked. Instead, the music had been turned down, and the curtains drawn aside. She drew a deep breath, then walked forward, arms up in a dramatic gesture. She sang, her voice growing steadily in pitch and strength. At first her voice, but as the systems kicked in, the voice was accompanied by a complex beat, a mixture of her breath, her hearth and her legs. At first low, almost trembling, but stronger as she went. The audience stopped talking and chattering amongst themselves, and turned to watch her. The stage was actually circular, in the middle of the dance floor, with a pole in the middle, and Ony was walking over the audience on a drawbridge.

As she reached the centre stage, she had the undivided attention off all the audience. It was then she let her voice rise to its true height, then descend into a growl. It was a trademark of hers, the audience recognized it, and a cheer rose up. Grabbing the brass pole, she did a half jump, grabbed the pole and did a half spin, triggering a throaty subwoofer roar. The crowd exploded.

From that point on, performing was a pure joy. The crowd boosted her energy, her energy enriched the music and the music kicked life into the audience. She wove intricate melodies with her hands, summoned sensual beats with her swaying hips, and let her voice soar as a bird above it all, then descend into sensuous, playful half growls. Her style less hard both physically and rhythmically than many others, more focused on singing than gymnastic exercise, but she did still combine voice and movement. Her dance was definitely on the more sensual side of the spectrum. She would slide her hands over her body, grind up against the central pole- It had always felt natural for her. She was after all sharing the very sound, the very feeling of her body with the loving audience. There was a certain element of eroticism there, and she would not have been able to remove it if she even wanted to.

Her last number was a pure dance number. She reached behind her and released the zipper on her dress, letting it fall to the floor. Some cheered, although some were probably disappointed to discover that she had a tiny, lacy underdress. With freer movement, she gave the last dance her all. To her it was no longer just sensual, it was sexual, her body almost fucking the sound-waves, the deep throbbing drumbeat of her own hearth and her abdominal muscles.
At the end, she suddenly stopped moving, just clenching every muscle she could, generating an almost painful wall of noise for about 20 seconds. Then she made a prearranged gesture at the sound-man.Without warning, he killed all feed except the ones from her breathing, tongue and vocal chords.

Dropping to her knees, she sang out the last lines of the song she had started with. Her voice was rawer now, and sounded almost fragile compared to the brutal noise from seconds earlier. Then she let her song fade away.

Silence.

Then the roar of applause. Ony stood up, grinning from ear to ear.
It was all over, but for the exit, and it had been good.

Then nothing remained except to wrap it all up. Enjoying the warm, fuzzy feeling of crowd approval, Ony did a few bows, throwing kisses to the audience. She was grinning, a fine sheet of sweat adorning her skin, and blushing happily. It was time to make her exit, complete the show. She walked with swaying hips along the walkway. The stage-hands would pick up her dress. She bowed down, scooped up her discarded shawl. As she did so, her eyes met a girl in the audience. On a whim, she tossed her the shawl. She did not know why she did it, really. She looked like it would suit her, and Orania could get another. She only paused to note the girls surprised and delighted reaction, then waved to the audience one final time, before entering the backstage darkness.

Half an hour of rest and a quick shower later, Orania was in the Lizard Lounge, enjoying a drink. Her position gave her a good view of the dance floor, the Lounge being situated above the rest of the club. A DJ had taken over, the crowd not ready to call it a night just yet. People seemed to enjoy themselves. Sometimes, she would get a little post concert melancholia. Did she give a lasting impression, or was she forgotten as soon as she left the stage? It was a silly notion, she knew. They came to her concerts, the watched her, they listened to the music, what possibly more could she demand?

"Nice show.." The voice belonged to Serra Kazou, the owner of the venue. The woman had an undeniable flair for the dramatic. Matching the theme of the club, she had a real, living snake draped across her shoulders. "I take it this was your last concert on Dragonia?"

"Thank you, and yes.", Ony replied, looking up at the other woman. "Much as I like your planet, I will soon depart for the next planet. It is not often I tour away from Thalassa, so I need to make the most out of it."

When the ship came to a full stop the doors opened and Shadow stood up handcuffs in his hand. After a few moments he sighed and place the cuffs back into their holder on his belt. "There's really no reason for me to cuff you seeing as I'll eventually be letting you go" ,he stated before turning and walking out of the room then off of the ship. As soon as he was off the ship he made sure his weapons were concealed and that Laela was following him. "Alright let's find some sort of inn to stay at for the night or until we can hitch another ride somewhere I have no idea where we're going but I guess we'll figure that out with time" ,he continued as he began walking towards a town.

Laela's eyes shifted to the handcuffs that the strange man was holding onto. For a brief moment, she wondered if he would think better on using them even though he'd decided not to earlier on. Then again, at that time they were confined to a small room on a ship. It wasn't like she had many options on where she could go and she most certainly couldn't escape or run. After all, the only place she had to turn on board the vessel was the inky black of space. Without a means of transport nor any suit of protection, going out into the natural vacuum would've rendered her dead. Now that they were safely landed on Dragonia... she had several more options available to her. However, to run was foolish. He promised she could stay with him for the time being and she trusted he meant it. He might not like the situation they were currently in--having lost a pay day, being stuck with the likes of someone like her--but she could see he was a man of his word when it came to doing what was ultimately right. She wondered how long it would take before Hal noticed that she wasn't going to be delivered to him as planned... Though this strange man didn't seem to like her much, she hoped that she wasn't inconveniencing him too much. That was, she hoped she wasn't placing him in needless danger. Hal could become rashly tempermental when he didn't get his way.

"Thank you," Laela said softly as she rubbed at her bared arms. Dragonia certainly was cooler than Erebos. Strangely, she'd grown used the desert heat in those hours she'd been on the planet and now she couldn't seem to feel warm after experiencing such an extreme in weather conditions. She glanced down at herself. Though she looked frightful in her slips and petticoats, it was still quite obvious that she was Illuminati. The fine fabrics giving her away completely, not to mention the leather of her boots. Her hair hung loosely about her shoulders so she pushed it back, tucking some of it behind an ear. "And that sounds fine," she added. "I promise to stay quiet and not be any trouble." And she meant every word. As it was, she was already in over her head, scared though a bit hopeful that perhaps somewhere amidst the darkness there just might be a life for her... something... a place where she just might belong, a place where someone just might care.

Shadow led the way through the streets of Dragonia until he came upon a small shop that sold tents, "I know I said we'd find an inn to stay at but a man like me can't resist camping out, I feel more protected with nature around me" ,he told her. The man then walked into the store and purchased the tent and a few other things that would be useful to the both of them while camping out. When he was finished in the store he walked back outside then took a deep breath, the fresh air was nice, "We'll find a nice place in the mountains that way the only things surrounding us will be nature and the creatures that roam the planet" ,he told Laela before he began walking towards the mountains.

Laela just nodded as the strange man suddenly decided to change plans--camping rather than staying somewhere a bit more comfortable. Well, more comfortable by her own standards. She'd never camped outside before and the idea of doing so frightened her on several levels. There would be no walls or a roof to protect them properly from the elements, not to mention the local fauna. Heavens knew what creatures lurked outside and given it was the darkest hours of night now... she could only begin to imagine what sorts of things lurked about. Though given the rough terrain of the planet on top of its name, she had an idea that such creatures weren't the sort she'd want to meet face to face if she could help it. More than likely they'd be the kind that would terrify her, that was if they didn't try to attack or eat her for breakfast.

Her eyes glued to the ground, Laela just followed the man. Though her thoughts ran wild, her body shaking slightly at the thought of possibly being surrounded by fearsome creatures that could hurt them, kill them, she remained quiet. The last thing she was going to do was complain or let on about her nervousness and apprehensions. To help tamp down her fears, she bit down on her lower lip, chewing on it furiously as she rubbed at her arms. Every so often, she allowed her eyes to glance upward at the items strewn about the shop, but only for a moment. For some reason she found it more comforting to stare at the floor, trying her best to focus on her breathing. Best not to cause a scene... as it was, she already looked frightful, not to mention she was certain her kind wasn't overly welcome.

Shadow hiked up the mountains making sure he walked at a pace that Laela could keep up with so she didn't fall too far behind. When the man finally reached a nice flat area of the mountain he placed all of the bags he had on the ground and got to work on setting up the tent. It didn't take him long to get the tent set up and once he was done he brought all of the supplies he had bought inside and set them down in a corner. The tent was a decent size and would fit both he and Laela along with all the supplies with room to spare. Shadow made his way back out of the tent after setting up the blankets and pillows for them to sleep on, he then got to work on a fire for warmth and cooking. After a short while the man had a nice sized fire going he stayed silent for the most part while he set everything up.

After everything was set up to Shadow's satisfaction he removed his robe revealing all of the tattoos on his upper body. He then pulled a small pouch from his belt and opened it, there was a powdery substance inside that Shadow dumped into the palm of his hand he then threw it into the fire making the flames change color briefly. He then made his way back into the tent and when he came out he was carrying a small container of what seemed to be red paint, he then began to mark different areas with what looked like a symbol or logo of some sorts. Shadow made a circle around the tent marking trees and rocks in the area, he then made his way to Laela, "Open your shirt up I need to mark your chest" ,he stated simply as he looked into her eyes. His eyes were the color of a clear evening sky at the moment meaning he felt safe and content.

Laela followed the strange man in silence. The only sounds escaping her were tiny sighs and grunts of exertion as she hiked, trying to keep up as she followed... but nothing more. The last thing she wanted to do was bother him. She'd done enough of that already and she feared she'd used up all of her chances for the day, or night as it still was. Once he stopped moving, setting everything down and immediately going to work on setting up what seemed to be like a camp of sorts, she let out a tiny sigh of relief. Her body was tired, sore from hiking--something she wasn't used to. And though it seemed like he didn't need her help, she tried her best to help out when needed, keeping quiet as every so often she'd pick up something and hand it to him whenever he needed something just a bit out of reach.

After everything was set up, Laela watched the strange man go in and out of the tent. He seemed to be doing something that was reminiscent of a ritual. Whether it was or not, she wasn't sure. Though, she had to admit she found all of his actions rather intriguing nonetheless. As she watched him, she wondered if he was still annoyed with her and she wondered if he regretted his decision in not bringing her to Thalassa and then for allowing her to tag along with him for a while... surely he must be, she figured. After all, she annoyed everyone else...

Suddenly, the strange man approached Laela, his request causing her dark eyes to go wide. "M-my shirt?" she asked, her voice almost squeaking. He seemed rather serious in his tone and manner when he made the request, if one could even call what he'd asked of her such a thing. She bit down on her lip, her cheeks tinging pink. "I... well..." she stammered, as her hand moved up to the buttons, unsure as to whether she should unfasten them or not. Looking up into the strange man's eyes, she got the sense that he wasn't playing games or wanting to deal with her foolish naivete. He had a reason, a purpose, for why he'd asked. Finally, she nodded, swallowing hard as she let her fingers slowly work at the buttons, undoing them one by one until her chest was revealed, along with the top swells of her breasts.

When Laela revealed her chest to him Shadow took a deep breath then swallowed hard before drawing the same symbol on her skin that he had on the various things surrounding the tent. After he finished he let out a deep breath he hadn't realized he was holding in, "I-It's for protection" ,he told her. His voice was a bit shaky and a hint of nervousness could be heard as well, the man found himself staring at the woman's chest for and quickly looked back into her eyes hoping she hadn't noticed. Shadow had never touched a woman in the way he had just touched Laela and he was feeling something he had never felt before and he didn't know what to think about it. After a few moments he marked his own chest then made his way into the tent without a word. When inside he sat down on the blankets and sighed trying to figure out what had just happened.

Laela sucked in a sharp breath as the strange man finally reached out and began to draw something onto her now bared flesh. Her heart was pounding beneath her breasts, her mind spinning as she watched him. His eyes seemed fixed, staring hard as he went to work to paint the symbols upon her skin. His touch was oddly gentle, causing her to bite down upon her lip as she took in the sensation of the close contact they suddenly shared. When he stepped back, finally finished, she let out a long exhale, her body trembling ever so slightly. She looked into his eyes, eyes that fixed onto hers in a way that made her feel strangely as if something deep inside was suddenly growing warm and almost instantly she could feel her cheeks begin to burn.

After a few moments, Laela nodded in understanding. Of course... of course what the man had just done was for protection purposes. Why else would he have done such a thing? Remaining silent, she watched him back away just a bit farther until he finally excused himself and went back inside the tent. She suddenly wondered if she'd done something to offend him despite her silence not to mention compliance. Hanging her head a little, and not wanting to stay outside alone, she followed him inside the tent and went to sit down.

"If I did something wrong, I'm sorry," Laela said softly as she looked over at the man, her shirt still opened. Just then there was a loud howling sound coming from outside. Immediately, Laela's eyes widened and she felt a wave of fear rush over her entirely. She looked over at the man, her body shaking slightly. The sound was far away, but it was something she'd never heard before given she wasn't used to being outdoors and had never been on Dragonia before. She shifted to be closer to the man, her arms reaching for his as she whimpered softly, her body pressing against his. "I... I'm sorry. I'm just not used to being outdoors. I... I apologize," she whispered, hoping she hadn't offended him or annoyed him any more than she'd already had since it was the last thing she wanted to do.

When Laela came into the tent and apologized Shadow looked at her and sighed, "You did nothing wrong I-I've just never....I felt something I've never felt before while touching you....I know it's wrong but I couldn't help it" ,he admitted before turning away and looking down at the floor of the tent. He was vulnerable and he knew it, his mind was racing and his body felt weird he was hot and there was a feeling that started in the pit of his stomach that traveled all the way down his legs, it was kind of numbing, something he never felt and therefor he didn't understand it.

Just then a noise came from outside the tent and it frightened Laela making her curl up to him, he found himself wrapping his arms around the woman to comfort her something he had never done to anyone before. After a few moments the sound became louder and Shadow knew exactly what kind of creature was lurking around outside. "Come outside with me" ,he stated before standing up and taking her hand to lead her outside. When outside Shadow looked to Laela, "Stay near the tent and trust me" ,he told her as he slowly walked in the direction where the howling was coming from. Soon the animal came out from behind the trees it was hiding behind, a huge wolf now looked Shadow straight in the eyes as it stalked towards him with hunger in it's eyes. Any normal person would've ran for it but Shadow stood his ground until the wolf was standing mere inches from him. Shadow then got to his knees so that he was eye level with the beast, the wolf growled and showed his teeth as he looked into Shadow's eyes. The man didn't budge though instead he looked deep into the wolf's eyes as if he were trying to communicate with it and within seconds the wolf sat down and lowered his head.

"Come here" ,he told Laela as he motioned for her to join him. Shadow reached out one of his hands and ran it over the wolf's head gently then stopped, "He's hurt, don't worry he won't hurt you we understand each other I'm going to clean his wounds I need you to pet him to keep him distracted" ,he continued. His eyes moved to the wolf's neck where it was bitten or cut by something silent tears began to fall from Shadow's eyes, he hated seeing any beast hurt.

Without hesitation, though she was still a bit afraid, she followed the man outside. She was fearful of what it was that might be lurking about. For all she knew, it was some ginormous beast lying in wait to devour them both for dinner. The very thought of that made her wince, so she quickened her steps so that she could be closer to the man, the only other person who was with her while out on the lonely mountaintop somewhere on planet Dragonia.

Once outside, Laela caught sight of an animal stalk about nearby. It was reminiscent of a creature she'd seen back on Helios, though quite a bit larger than those that resided on her home planet, not to mention she'd never seen one this close or out in the open. The one she'd seen had been in an animal sanctuary of sorts, a menagerie for exotic type beasts. She tilted her head as she watched the strange man stare at the creature, moving ever closer to it as he stared it down and somehow communicated with it.

Finally, the man told her to come next to him, to sit by him as he helped the creature since it had been wounded. Laela was surprised to learn that the beast had been injured. She'd never have guessed such a thing at all, but when she moved closer and sat down, she could see the wound quite clearly. She looked over at the man for a moment and swallowed, nodding at his instructions. Licking her lips, she placed a gentle hand on the beast, letting her fingers caress its fur as she petted it. She noticed the man's peculiar eyes welling with tears, something she hadn't expected to see, something that touched her on levels she hadn't expected it would reach. She bit down on her lip, her chest heaving a little as she felt her heart lurch both for the man and the wounded animal... something was happening... something... but she'd be damned if she could try to explain it or understand it.

Shadow looked to Laela as she pet the large animal and it made him smile, "I think it's foolish to fear a beautiful creature like this when humans are far more dangerous" ,he began as he poured some water onto a rag and began to wipe away some dry blood that was around the animals wound. After cleaning the dry blood he began to stitch up the cut, he sighed while doing so noticing that the wound was definitely man made, "Someone tried to cut his throat, he must've gotten away" ,Shadow explained. "Good boy, you'll be alright" ,he whispered into the wolf's ear as he finished cleaning and stitching the wound. When he was finished he ran his hands over the wolf's fur again then looked to Laela once more, "We should feed him" ,he stated quickly before getting up and making his way into the tent to grab some of the meat he had bought at the store before heading up the mountain. When he came back out the wolf sat up and looked to the man knowing he had something for him. Shadow opened the package and set it in front of the beast who didn't hesitate to began eating, "Are you hungry? I can make something to eat if you'd like" ,he asked Laela.

Laela felt a heat rise to her cheeks and she immediately knew she was blushing. She wasn't used to being out in the rough like she was, though ever since her ship went down on Charon it seemed like that was all she was being exposed to albeit in various ways. However, in this moment right now, for the first time in her entire life, she felt like someone was trying to actually speak to her, connect to her on some level and in some way. Yes, she was embarrassed because she had been frightened of the wolf. And, if she was honest with herself, a part of her still was. But she was realizing a lot of that was due to her own inexperience, her own lack of knowledge. But this man seemed to be looking past that. She wasn't viewing his words as an insult or a reprimand. He was speaking his feelings, trying to explain to her the ways in which he knew and was brought up learning and understanding... he was trying to share something with her and that meant so very much to her.

When the man got up and returned with the meat, Laela smiled a little, her hands still remaining on the wolf as she continued to pet him. She then looked up at him and nodded, her tummy suddenly rumbling when he asked her if she was hungry. "Y-yes, please," she answered softly. "I haven't eaten much since my ship first went down," she then admitted. "And all I've really consumed was..." Her voice trailed and her cheeks turned an even deeper shade of red. "Oh, I'm a foolish girl," she whispered, her hands still petting the wolf. She looked into the strange man's eyes and smiled at him warmly. "You know, I don't even know your name... may I ask you what it is? If that is all right?"

"My name's Vladimir but most people call me Shadow, I prefer that name" ,he told her. The man then began to make a pit for a fire, "You know you're not so bad to have around after all" ,he admitted as he continued to work. After a little while Shadow had a nice fire going, the wolf had finished eating and was now laying next to the fire for warmth while Shadow began to cook. "He's gonna stay with us until he's healed up, meaning if we travel he comes with he should be fine in a few days I just don't want to send him back into the wild alone while he's hurt" ,Shadow explained. The man hoped that Laela wouldn't mind that he wanted to care for the beast until it was healthy, it was just the way Shadow was he loved animals especially the ones he could actually communicate with.

Laela nodded as the strange man introduced himself... Shadow. She rather liked it and found that the nickname suited him far better than his given name. Though she wondered how he came to earn such a name. She supposed maybe he'd be compelled to tell her how he came by it one day, if they traveled together long enough. That was if she didn't bother him and cause him to prefer silence over conversation.

Just then, Shadow spoke yet again. His words almost startling to her ears. Immediately, Laela looked over to him, her mouth opening slightly before she closed it and smiled. A strange flutter formed in her tummy and a warmth began to spread across her flesh. The admission that she wasn't so bad meant so much to her. He was the first person to ever indicate that her presence wasn't a bother in some way. Most either ignored her completely or made it apparently clear that she either wasn't wanted or was a nuisance. It made her glad that somehow fate had intervened and he'd whisked her away from that pirate crew as he had. After all, to them she was merely a pay day. That was all she'd ever been to anyone--a pay day, a pawn, a means to some sort of gain. She'd never been anything more.

Blinking, Laela then focused on Shadow's next words regarding the wolf. She gave him a nod. "Of course," she said softly. "I don't mind him being around us. Especially now that I'm coming to understand..." She gave the man a smile and reached out to pet the wolf again. Turning toward the wolf, she gave him a smile and whispered softly to him as she pet him gently. "You'll have company for a while. I hope you don't mind being around a silly girl." A soft giggle escaped her lips and she brought up a hand to stifle the sound. "I warn you that I can be very silly. You'll need to be patient with me." Her hand moved over the wolf. "But you'll be patient, yes?" Her smile broadened a bit before she finally pulled her hand away and looked back at Shadow. She reached up and ran her fingers through her tousled, dark hair, nervously combing it out as she smiled at him. "I think he'll be patient with me," she said softly.
