Atwen nodded and let him rest against her soft upper body for some time before easing back to her feet and leading him back toward their makeshift camp. She didn't bother redressing herself, instead sitting down on the ground and laying Edward against herself in a similar manner as before, only laying on the ground this time. She gently stroked his head in a comforting manner as she gazed up at the stars far above them, in that deep yet strangely familiar darkness far above them. The night was cool and devoid of insects, so it was fairly comfortable to sleep out in the open in such a manner.
The next morning the centaur rose up early, even before the break of dawn, to return to the hunt and begin her long journey back toward her people's camp. She had obtained what she needed, after all. Rather than simply running off before he woke up, however, Atwen cleaned and dried his clothes, folding them into a neat pile and filled a sack with enough water and cooked meat to keep him going for a few days at least. With that finished, she gave him a tender kiss on the cheek and started off toward the horizon, wondering if they would ever cross paths again in the future...
Far above him in the sky, however, another creature had taken an interest in the young boy. Her light-as-air body was covered in a soft, fluffy spore-like substance, which helped her move about in the wind and spread little tufts of the strange stuff into the air all around her. Her short green hair blew across her face in a rather haphazard manner until she reached up with her hand and brushed it away from her wide, curious eyes. At the moment, she kept her distance, but drifted ever closer to the ground while her gaze remained fixed upon the young man.
