Mismatched Partners (kittykat4 and Josu_T)

Alex simply shook his head at the suggestion. Annabell voiced the opinion that both of them had. She was clearly proving that while she could look really attractive, her personality still bugged him. He stood there feeling a little awkward, not sure of what to do. One of her friends simply shrugged and grabbed his hand. He smiled and started to dance with her again. There were plenty of girls to dance with and if Annabell's friends were ok with dancing with him, he was fine with it too.

She went back to the bar to get a drink. She sat there watching her friends dance with the one person she hates. Eventually the guy she was dancing with found her and she went to dance with him. Soon she forgot about Alex being there she just focuse on dancing.

Alex didn't even notice Annabell walk away, but he found himself thinking about her again. It had become more than just thinking about her dancing though. The image of her would never leave his mind. He had noticed her as an attractive woman and he wouldn't be able to stop thinking of her in that way. He knew it was a problem and it frustrated him. He tried to simply enjoy dancing with her friends. By the end of the evening he exchanged phone numbers with two of her friends, though he figured they would never get called and he wouldn't hear from them unless it was to simply hang out. He met up with his friends and learned that he'd ended up with more numbers than they had. He went home to rest so he would be ready for practice the next day.

Annabell said goodbye to th guy she was dancing with. She found her friends and found that they echanged numbers with Alex, she found herself slightly jealous. She ignored the feeling as her friends drove her home. When she got home she changed and cleaned off the make-up and went to bed.

The next day Alex woke after a night filled with dreams he didn't expect. The thought of Annabell and the image of her as she had looked at the club was stuck in his mind. He tried to distract himself and tried to focus on anything else, but it was tough. He got ready for the day and made his way back to the studio for another day of practice. Sam and Danielle were ready to get them started on some new programs and dances for competition. They would finally be doing things that were unique and really would require some communication. Alex still felt stubborn and didn't really want to say anything, but he knew that if they were going to do well he would need ton cooperate at least a little.

Annabell got to the studio the first thing she did was laid on the floor. She hadn't gotten any sleep the night before, she was to busy thinking about Alex. She didn't understand why he was all she could think about. She eventually sat up and looked at the three people in the room "Morning" she said and smiled.

Alex walked into the studio to see Annabell laying on the floor. He was about to say something to her when the other two arrived. He quickly got ready for the practice without saying anything to her. After he had stretched he got up and felt ready to begin. The first part of practice was Sam explaining the choreography of the first new piece they were going to learn. There wasn't much of a chance to talk. It was only listening. Finally it was time to begin practicing. Alex took his position and smiled softly at Annabell.

As she got ready she listened to sam explain what they were doing. She took her position with Alex, she wasn't sure why he was smiling but she wasn't going to ask either. As they danced she couldn't get all the moves down witch frustrated her she hated failing at anything. She tried not to show her frustration and kept trying the moves, but the more she fail the more obviouse her frustration got.

Alex was surprised when Annabell had trouble figuring out the dance moves. She seemed to be getting frustrated. Part of him was happy that she was messing up. It would hopefully help reduce her ego. But part of him felt bad. Partially because if she was doing poorly then they as a pair were doing poorly, but also because he found that deep down he didn't like seeing her that way. He sighed when they reached a pause and he spoke softly. "Deep breath. Focus. You know you can do this. We did most of these things yesterday, just not in this order or at this tempo."

She took a few deep breaths while she listened to what he said. She was expecting him to be enjoying her failure but he didn't seem to be. She was glad he didn't rub it in she was already mad enough, if he had it might have started an argument which she was glad didn't happen. She smiled once she was calmer and ready to try again.

Alex waited for her to calm down and then they started again. They went at a slower tempo, without the music, just to make sure they knew what they were doing. Breaking it into smaller pieces also helped make sure they were doing it well. Alex did his best to guide Annabell and to help her know what was coming up. He didn't talk much, but his movements were leading her through it.

She was getting better at the movements, she was watching his movements to help her. She didn't know why he was being nice, she would never have done it for him at least not without rubbing it in first. As they continued he movements got close to perfect.

Alex noticed her getting better and better as they went along. Soon enough she was doing quite well. That meant it was time to go to full speed. Danielle told them to try it and Sam turned on the music. Alex focused and started the dance. He did his best to be perfect in his own movements so that he was also leading Annabell doing his best to help her. She had been doing fairly well, but going through the whole routine could easily be a different story. Once again he had mixed emotions about it. Part of him wanted her to screw up so he could hold it over her, but he also wanted her to do well.

(Sorry for the long wait)

She took a deep breath and focused on the movements now and then she would screw up but it wasn't as much or as bad as before. She hated screwing up knowing Alex would only rub it in. She continued to do her best in the dance until they had finished, she let go of Alex and walked toward her things and sat down

Alex looked at her as she walked away and sat down. She hadn't done horribly. She had made mistakes though. He shook his head. "Time for a break? That's fine I guess. But we're not done yet. We clearly need more practice. I want to do this piece perfectly before we leave." He walked to his things and grabbed his water bottle. He took a drink and tried to avoid looking at her. Every time he saw her he remembered what she had looked like. He wasn't able to think of her as justa dance partner. He couldn't avoid thinking of her as an attractive woman. He needed to simply avoid thinking of her at all. At least when they weren't dancing.

She sighed she knew they needed more practice and she didn't need him to tell her that. She took a drink from her water bottle and turned to him watching him. She noticed something she didn't before, his muscles they wern't huge but they wern't small either. She caught herself staring and quickly looked away and began going through the routine in her head.

Alex relaxed during the break and after a while Sam told them it was time to try it again. Alex sighed and got up from where he was sitting. He made his way to the middle of the room again and waited for Annabell to join him. When she was there he tried to smile while not quite looking at her. He reached out and placed his hands where they needed to be for the dance. The music started and he went through the motions yet again. When they were really close and dancing it was easier to keep himself from thinking of how attractive she was. He had dance moves to think of and he couldn't really see her body.

Annabell stood up and took her place with Alex, ignoring his smile. She focused on her moves and the music. As they danced she wasn't messing up and smiled for the first time that practice. She knew he was acting differant today than the day before, he was nice when she screwed up and for some reason he was avoiding eye contact.

They made it through the song and it was flawless. There was nothing for Alex to complain about. He stepped away immediately and turned away from her. As he started to walk toward his things he mumbled, "Good job." He went right to his things and looked over at their coach. "I think that is enough for today. We can try it again tomorrow and get started on another song. I'm really tired right now." He didn't wait for approval. He needed to go clear his head and get the thoughts of Annabell out forever.

Annabell barely heard him say good job as he walked away, she expected at least a smile but she tried not to let it bother her. She had plans tonight and she didn't want him to ruin it. She just went to gather her things and said good bye to everyone and left. She went straight home and took a shower and got dressed. She was joing dancing tonight, not club dancing but ballroom dancing her old partner was back for a visit and wanted to catch up. To her there was no better way to catch up and she was exited to dance with him again.

Alex went home and made himself some food. As he ate he had a hard time getting his dance partner out of his mind. He was annoyed. He needed to go and do something to distract himself. He couldn't just sit around. He didn't want to go dancing though. He was sick of dancing. He decided to just go to a friend's house to hang out. He drove there right after eating. He spent the entire evening playing games and talking just to keep his mind occupied. It mostly worked.

Annabell met him at the resturaunt where they ate and talked. She told him about Alex and how things were going between them and their dance routine, and he told her about what he had been up to. Once they finished eating they danced, but she couldn't help but compare him to Alex. It was hard for her to admit it but Alex was a better partner.

Alex was playing a video game when one of his friends asked if he would call one of the girls he had met at the club the night before. He explained the situation to them and told them about Annabell. He explained that the girls from the club were her friends. The guys started to bug him right away about how he shouldn't worry about that. He should call the girls and hang out with them anyway. If he and Annabell weren't getting along then there wouldn't be any jealousy issues. At least that was what his friends seemed to think. Alex shrugged it off and tried not to think about it. He got focused on the game again. As the night came to an end he went home and found himself thinking about the suggestion his friends had made.

After they had danced a few times Annabell headed home, saying her goodbyes to her former partner. When she got home she changed and sat on her couch. She kept thinking about Alex but she couldn't figure out why. She hated him, but he was attractive. She sighed and went to bed.

The next day Alex showed up to the studio early and warmed up for another practice. He waited until the others arrived and then they got started. They went though the song they had practiced the day before just once before moving on to a new one. It was more difficult, intended for the tougher competitions. As Alex looked at Annabell he still felt attracted to her. He wasn't sure if it would be right to try getting involved with one of her friends. She hadn't annoyed him too much over the past day or so, which made it feel worse. He tried to forget about it as they moved to working on the harder dance.
