Breaking the Mold

(glad to have ya back love. I was worried :D)

The neko looked up at her, half a leaf hanging from his mouth. "I was testing the poison in them, Yuki. Besides, I like the tang of the various venoms. It makes for quite the sensation afterwards." He chuckled as she continued, telling about how they were for her rituals and such. "You know, I think there was a hint of insult in those last few sentences. I'll go ahead and ignore them though. I'll show you what I can do one way or another, although I might learn magic just to spite you." He chuckled again, standing up, nodding as she gave him the orders.

"Oh, har har. Like I couldn't figure out color codes. I like your new attitude though. I'll go ahead and get these planted then. Why don't you go take a nap?" He turned and headed for the garden area, hauling the cart behind him. Boy oh boy, he could smell the flames already. Ever since the wars began, he had taken a certain affinity towards fire and the likes. He loved the way it seemed to dance in the air, such beautiful destruction. Reminded him of his Taylor.

(heh, sorry about that... It started out as simple writers block, then I lost track of things >_< including some of my RP's. I'll try to keep it from happening again)

"I think I'll do just that," Yuki opened the doors to her room and peered inside. At first there didn't seem to be anything amiss, until she smelled the distinct scent of fire and smoke. By then the entire bed was starting to go up in flames, and after a brief moment of surprise Yuki's eyes narrowed with vivid wrath. She clenched her hands into tight fists and quickly formed runes as the entire room's temperature began to drop nearly instantaneously. The furniture in the room, and even the air itself, felt as if coated in a thin layer of ice. As she moved toward the bed to survey the damage, small bits of ice fell from her body as she walked. Her eyes were cold and focused as she slid her hand across the smooth surface.

"Hey, Fluffy... I have a present for you," Yuki smiled, as the last vestiges of her patience snapped. She could verbally abuse her, strip her fellow vampires of their spinal cords like one would peel leaves from an ear of corn, and even ignore her orders... But destroying something that belonged to her, especially something that she prized as highly as her bed, such a thing could not be tolerated. She turned and left the room, the spread of ice following her as she made her way to where the neko worked.

He started laughing, having potted a few plants before the scent of fire hit his nose. Of course, he was just a tad disappointed. The fire started prematurely. Now, if he was up there with her, say taking a shower, he could have kept it under control until the right time emerged. Oh well, what was he going to do? As the laughs died down, he went back to planting the ornamental plants, keeping a leaf he liked quite a bit in his mouth, drawing the rich flavor from it like one would do a hard candy. He wasn't worried about these 'venoms' Yuki told him about. He knew these plants like the back of his hand. The one he had in his mouth right now was the neko equivalent of catnip, and it took a lot of resistance to the stuff, or a hell of a lot of willpower to not be affected too much. "Ah, my little vampire," he said to himself, rolling the leaf in his mouth, placing the roots of the plant gently into the ground. "My lovely little vampire. Doesn't like fire too much hm?" He chuckled, on the verge of a laughing fit again.

"One must learn, one must learn." He sighed, shaking his head, trying to fight the smile off his face. When he heard footsteps, his hand left the plant secretively, away from seeing eyes so she couldn't see a small serrated edged knife appear in his hands. Seemingly unaware of the vampire coming up for him, and of the ever so obvious temperature change, he put another plant into the ground, smiling and laughing quietly. This was going to be fun. Anything that involved fire was fun.

"Its not that I hate fire... Its just so much harder to control," Yuki raised her right arm toward the neko's back and mouthed a single phrase without speaking vocally. In an instant, large spikes of ice jutted up from the ground around him with the tips bending inward to form a cage of sorts with himself in the center. She then clenched her hand into a fist, and the collar around his neck tightened. The vampire then clapped her hands together twice and stepped toward the magical ice prison, "No, Fluffy... What will it be? Listen, I don't give a fig about your so-called justice or your insurrection. What I care about is what I consider my own, which includes my dignity and my possessions. Is that perfectly clear?"

He only laughed as the ice shot from ground, cageing him in. He laughed hard, until he found his air had diminished. The collar. His laugh stopped, and he rose, turning towards her, flashing the knife. His gaze was deadly. He brung the knife up slowly, jamming it inbetween the collar and his tattoo. A low growl rumbled in his chest. "Loosen the collar, or I'll do it myself. And you won't like me afterwards. You won't like anybody." His bandaged arm started glowing menacingly, and a burning smell wafted through the room. "Loosen the fucking collar, or the whole god forsaken house goes up in flames." His eyes were darker, filled with an evil entity. Another growl tore itself out of his throat as he ripped the knife away from his neck, hurling it at Yuki's jugular.

"I tire of your behavior, yet I admire your tenacity... You think you can toy with me without consequences," Yuki simply stood before him until the knife flew toward her. She didn't even flinch as a wall of ice appeared around her and blocked the knife mere inches before it embedded itself into her soft flesh. The wall vanished just as quickly as it had appeared and she caught the knife in the palm of her hand. Tightening her grasp on the handle, the knife shrunk then cracked from the extreme temperature change before she cast away the broken fragments. She then snapped her finger and the collar loosened somewhat, allowing him to breathe more freely.

Trystan eyed her, watching the knife shatter. He only relaxed when the collar loosened, and his hand felt his tattoo. In an effort to calm himself, he tapped it twice, visually loosening up as the suppresant worked through him. "Now, you need to realize something, something very important, and you need to realize it extremely fast. I could give a flying fuck about your dignity, or your posessions. I don't need them. I'm starting to second guess why I let you catch me." He took a step forward, grasping one of the ice bars in the bandaged arm. Instantly, little drops of water started running down the ice. "You don't threaten my neck. You don't constrict it. You wanna know why?" He growled again, his other hand twitching lightly. "If you break this little chip in my neck, I lose my mind. And you'll lose much more than a fucking pillowcase. You'll end up in worse shape then your friends." The drops got bigger. "Now, you should let me finish planting these so I can keep my hands busy on other things than tearing you into teeny, tiny, oh-so-bloody little fucking pieces."

"Very well... but think twice before playing pranks, Fluffy," Yuki turned around, the ice cage sliding back into the ground and allowing him to move about freely once again, "You still haven't even told me why you let me catch you, so how am I supposed to... Shall I say, live up to your expectations? Stop being such a pain in my side and I think we will get along just fine... I haven't done anything other than try to keep you in line, yet every time you try to make it my fault. Do you even realize that I wasn't fighting at my full capacity either? I wasn't trying to kill you... In fact, a small part of me wanted to keep you around for some reason. Only God knows why at this point, and it wasn't so I could boss you around like some sort of slave. If you haven't noticed already, I live alone... I suppose I might have simply wanted to be around someone who understood the horrors of this terrible conflict between our races."

The neko tapped his neck again, releasing one more shot of suppressant through his body. "They aren't horrors that are in vain Yuki. And to be honest, if you vampires didn't have a control complex, there wouldn't be any wars." He shook his head, grabbing another plant, his hand shaking. The roots were placed in the dirt, but not before he took a leaf from it and popped it into his mouth. With the help of the drug and the leaf, his hands stopped twitching. "If you wanted someone who understood the horrors of war, you have the right one. But you see, I was bred for it. A born fighter. I only care about me and my own. Those who don't like me, or what I fight for..." He shrugged, waving her off as he picked up another plant. Only a few more to go. With their little conflict a few seconds ago, Trystan was a bit bitter. Bad memories were resurfacing, much more powerfully than last time. "Don't you have something to do, Ms.High and Mighty? Something out and away from here?" It was an obvious dismissal.

"I am not to blame for the shortcomings of my kind," Yuki replied curtly, "But it seems my presence is distasteful for you, and I would hate to see more of the leaves from off my plants be plucked off than is entirely necessary, so I will withdraw... I'll have to do some repairs to my bed before I can retire for the day, of course."

With that, she let him be and walked back up the staircase, wondering exactly what purpose he had in maintaining this charade... Just what was this chip that he spoke of, anyway? Something wasn't adding up, and it wasn't that he was lying about its existence. Just what sort of person would put such a restrainer on his mind (if that was what it was)? He was like a wild animal, capricious and impulsive yet as dangerous as a lit stick of dynamite.

He grinned, shaking his head. "I wasn't blaming you. I was blaming your kind in general." He bit his tongue to keep himself from speaking again. Quips and witty remarks wouldn't get her to leave any faster. When she left, he relaxed fully, finishing up the planting in a matter of a few minutes. The push of the memories had ebbed away into the back of his mind, no longer bothering him. With a simple sigh, he planted the last of the plants, taking a few leaves and putting them almost reverently in his pocket. He'd need these, since the chip only had a certain amount of doses until one had to find means to make more. Or of course, suffer the consequences, but he didn't want to do that. Not just yet anyway. There was a time for everything, and everything that happened had a purpose.

(I'm really sorry >_< I've somehow managed to loose track of this again. I think its a very fascinating story, though, so don't worry about me dropping it!)

Yuki simply ignored his parting comment, finding her bed in just about as sorry a state as one could imagine. She first cast a basic binding spell to keep it from breaking down any further, then began to repair the frame with a repair spell, reforming the burned wood and singed draped curtains that hung over it. Satisfied with her work, she threw herself down and looked up at the ceiling, wondering what exactly she was going to do with this troublesome neko. Locking him up or throwing him into some deep, dark place certainly wasn't a viable option. She turned over to her side, wondering what he had in mind for her tomarrow... Would he try to put something in the wine? Not likely, judging that he used some himself for his cakes. Perhaps she would ask him to make some for her at one point or another, as it looked quite well done.

"This is stupid," the vampire groaned, turning to her other side, "What was I even thinking when I stood up and walked out there... It must have been some sick turn of fate that drew me in to make that decision... I wish I knew how to handle all of this."

She laid onto her back, her right hand draped over her forehead as she let out a deep sigh, her hair sprawling out below her like a silver fan, "Hey, Fluffy... Do you think all I really wanted was a companion? You wouldn't be a bad fellow to have around if you would quit poking your nose into places it doesn't belong all the time and try to burn up my bed."

(Well, I'm glad you are enjoying it hun.)

The neko dusted off his hands, brushing some dirt off of his shoulders before standing up and striding out of the garden. With the leaves securely in his pocket, he headed straight for the kitchen area, putting on a pot of water to boil. His head cleared the more he moved. With a grin and a sigh of relief, he grabbed a bowl and placed it next to the stove-top. "Heh, time for my prescription to be renewed," he said to himself, grabbing his tail and petting it gently. The pot started to whistle, and Trystan plopped the leaves into the freshly boiled water. Then, he flicked his wrist, snatching something out of the air, dripping a few drops of purple liquid into the translucent mixture. The water turned muddy, unclear, and the neko grinned as he added more water to it. With another flick of his wrist, a syringe appeared in his hand.

His movements were swift and smooth as he pulled the mixture into the cylinder, injecting it right in the middle of his tattoo. 'There. Should be good for another year.' He chuckled to himself, leaning against the counter, his ears swivelling to scoop up noise coming from Yuki's bedroom. She was talking to herself. How interesting. When he heard the last comment however, he couldn't help but laugh. "Poking my nose into places it doesn't belong is part of my job hun. Right next to setting things on fire," he mumbled to himself, a smile painted on his face. "Everything is about respect. From troops, from fighters, from the people you serve, from the people who serve you. Hell, even respect from your enemy. Respect, or lack thereof is what starts wars, and what ends them." He chuckled lightly to himself, leaning his head back and closing his eyes. "Eventually, either the kemonomimi race will gain respect, or they will all die out trying."
