Somewhere over the rainbow.
"Hmph. You think you can hold me as a prisoner for much longer you bloodsucking parasites? Hm?" The neko rolled his shoulders, straining lightly against his bindings. He was bound to a wooden pole by his wrists, the rope bloody where it bit into his flesh. "You can't hold me. You aren't strong enough. Trust me, you can't break me, you can't own me. I killed so many of you vampires, you don't affect me anymore." He chuckled darkly, letting the brown hair fall infront of his face, concealing the scar that ran across his right eye. His eyes were a deep, dangerous blue, and since he was shirtless, one could see the multitude of wounds, both recent and old in stunning contrast against his pale white body. Although he was malnourished, he was in surprisingly great shape, sinewy muscles moving constantly like ever flowing water.

When he looked up, his eyes had a deadly, slightly deranged glint in them. Had he lost his mind? Was he now a feral? If he hadn't, he was closer than most dared to go. The ropes cut further into him, the group of vampires just barely visible outside of the circle of light that surrounded him. Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth, from his hands, from his arms, from his back. How was he still concious after losing so much blood? Most neko's would be out cold by now, yet this one was still going strong, threatening, planting seeds of doubt in the vampires' minds. How? "A soldier has many unseen talents. I am a soldier, therefore, I have unseen talents. Lucky for you, I'm tied up the way I am, or you;d all be dead." His eyes fell to the floor. "Or..... am I still tied up? Why don't one of you come check out the ropes hm?" When no one moved, he chuckled. "Are you scared of a tiny, weak, blood deprived, helpless nekomimi? The same creatures you enslave for fun? Couldn't be."

One from the group, called Yuki by those who where close to her and The Scarlet Revenge by those who feared her, strode out from among the group up to the neko who was stretched out like a thin slab of smoked meat over an open fire. Her piercing red eyes gazed directly at his while her flowing silver hair, the apparent source of her nickname, gently swayed as she walked. She stopped when she was a mere three feet in front of him, her hands defiantly placed upon her hips which she slid slightly to the right as she opened her lips to address him directly.

"You say you are a soldier, yet how many truly powerful vampires have you actually faced? You call yourself a warrior and defiantly declare that not one of us can tame you... How presumptuous," her lips curled upward to form a self-important smirk, "If you hate our kind so much, then why do you play such mind games... Why would you stand to stand there, strung up like something hung out to bake in the afternoon sun."

Her visage darkened as she took yet another step toward him, "Tangle with me, if you dare... Leave the others for later, they aren't worth your time. If I defeat you, you will belong to me. If I loose, you are free to go... Kapish?"

Without waiting for his reply, she lifted up her right hand and formed a barrier around both of them, preventing the others from interfering with their fight and preventing the neko from escaping either. She reached down toward her thighs and drew out two throwing knives and tossed them at the bindings on his wrists, boldly cutting him loose before looking back up at him.

"Your move."

The neko grinned, watching as the barrier formed around them, keeping the others out and him in. He saw fear in those vampires' eyes, but not in this one. When the ropes were cut, he crouched, stretching his knees and his arms. Even a few cracks could be heard over the copius dripping of blood. "Hm. So foolish. Brave, confident, but foolish. If I defeat you, I want nothing more than to strap you up on that table and watch as I kill every vampire in this store slowly. Painfully." He winked, standing up straight. "Then maybe I'll keep you." He chuckled, closing his eyes, tearing a strip of cloth from his battered, bloody pants and wrapping it around his eyes. He tore off two more long strips, wrapping his arms from the elbow to his knuckles. With a grin, the neko sank low, getting as close to the ground as possible, his legs tense as steel springs. "They call me a soldier because I've fought a war. They call me a warrior because I have 3 out of the 7 heads of the entire vampire council in my closet. You wouldn't understand how titles such as those work. I'm a hero to the neko's, and vampire's bane." He chuckled, flicking his wrists, grabbing a small sword seemingly out of thin air. "Can you beat me dear? Will you be the one that finally beats me? Or will you turn out to be as disgustingly weak as the rest?" He shrugged, turning his back to her, prodding the barrier with the tip of the shortsword. "And actually, it's your move...... Yuki."

Although she was honestly somewhat surprised that he knew of her nickname, she remained resolute despite his words which dripped with pride and spite. This was a fight she could not afford to loose, so she concluded that she could hold nothing back... Draw him in, then finish him quickly without giving him ample time nor space to counter-attack while remaining alert just in case the first attempt fails. Many of his opponents fell due to their overconfidence and lack of proper caution while dealing with someone as determined and outright dangerous as him... Yet he thrived off pride and lapped it up like warm milk, so she decided to give him an ample serving before starting in order to distract him from her proper form and style. She was a rune caster, one of the few who understood enough of the ancient art of spoken words and carefully drawn spells to use it effectively in actual combat. It required absolute focus and an astonishing sense of calm to pull off, as well as substantial training, a heart encrusted in ice and snow, as it were.

"Ilvas... Lima... Jutan... Giltar," Yuki spread her hands open and held her arms to her sides as countless sharp icicles formed in the air above her, each several feet long, and darted down toward the neko as a relentless barrage. Without pause, then then whispered a silent incantation and held her hand out in front of herself.

The neko simply laughed as he heard the incantation being chanted behind him, just barely registering the last whispered words. The icicles flew at him at deadly speed, but when they neared him, they slowed. Just a little bit, but they slowed. He caught one in his mouth, one in his hand, while the others collided with the barrier wall. He crushed the one in his mouth, grinning widely. "You're holding back. Or.... you're putting too much into it love. A runecaster. Hm, the times are changing." He chuckled, shaking his head, nibbling on the tip of the second icicle. "Don't like magic. I much prefer using this style. The style of the blind man." He laughed, twirling the sword around his fingers with a deft movement. Outside, one of the vampires in the back fell, a huge gash where it's spine had once been.

"What was that last thing. A protection spell perhaps? A trap? Hm?" He tilted his head, his back still to her, ears swivelling rapidly. With a sigh, he sunk again, although this time sitting cross-legged on the cold, crimson stained floor. "You must not want me bad enough. You know, you'd be a nice little pet wouldn't you? I bet you'd have no problems killing your own kind. I mean, after all, your heart is made out of stone." He grinned, running his hand along the blade of his sword. "Heheh. Well, come on love, I don't have all-" He stabbed his sword into the concrete, tearing out a small jagged chunk of it and hurling it at her foot. "Day love. Better make quick work of me." He said tje last part with a wide smile, shifting slightly on the floor.

She didn't flinch even when he somehow Yuki took a single step forward, her right foot sliding up to her left as she clapped her hands together twice then raised her right hand up. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she formed a single rune with her fingertips. Using the fragments of ice as locators, she focused her energy into a single point, releasing it through the matrix formed by the rune. The vampire smiled, almost sadistically, a huge lightning bolt falling from above and striking the area all around him with powerful force.

The neko chuckled, his form seeming to fizzle out for a brief second before returning to normal again. Was that humor in his face? Was he mocking her inability to hit him? A split second before a bolt hit him, he disappeared, and reappeared with a double. "You are skilled, I'll give you that. But not exactly the brightest bulb in the box huh?" He chuckled, each of those two spawning another. Luckily it stopped with those four. They stood in unison, all the same clothes, same heat signatures, same scent, and dashed around the room with incredible speed. Every now and then, two would exchange something, but it was in the blink of an eye. "Four neko's, each deadly, each different, and yet all the same. Which one of me is the real me?" Meanwhile, two more of the other vampires had fallen, gashes where the spines had once resided. The outer vampires were starting to get worried. How were their friends simply dieing like that? The four look-a-likes chuckled simultaneously. "Better chose one, or we'll gang up on you."

"It really wouldn't matter, now would it... Because there is only one real neko and none of them are in here with me, now are they?" the vampire smiled, "You know, I like your style, but you really lack something called basic decency... I won't play your little mind games any longer."

She mentally targeted all four of the nekos and thrust her right palm up into the air as she summoned four spears of darkness which she flung at each of the nekos. Yuki was beginning to tire of the way he refused to attack her, yet he somehow had managed to break out of her protective barrier even before the fight had begun. Had he never been tied up in the first place, merely using her as a distraction to assassinate the other vampires from the darkness?

All four of them grinned and disappeared in a flash of light. "Bravo kiddo. You got me. But actually, all four of them were real, they just weren't me." He chuckled, holding the last vampire by the throat, grinning darkly. "I've seen the way you fight love. A magic user, a heart of ice, darkness. You'd kill me without a second thought wouldn't you?" He chuckled, tightening his grip, causing the last vampire to go wide-eyed and sending him into a frenzy. The neko sighed, bring his knee smashing into the vamp's chest, sending him flying throatless into a wall. "Hm, well then, I believe it's my turn to attack." He chuckled evilly, redoing his makeshift headband and jumping high into the air, flipping and landing behind her. Before she could take any action, he rolled to the side, springing up and bouncing off a wall. The neko touched the roof for the briefest of seconds before launching himself towards her, whizzing through the air. He hit the ground, bounding away, the only evidence he'd been there, a drop of blood. Vampire blood. Yuki's blood.

"Enough games... Lets end this," Yuki's visage darkened as she held her arms out like the arms of a clock. In an instant, the world around them seemed to slow as she attempted to bend the fabric of time and space around them in order to match his speed and fight him on even ground. She brought her right fist back, intending to punch him right through the center of his body the next time he even tried to get close to her. It was becoming harder and harder for her to retain her sense of focus while he jumped about murdering her companions left and right.

The neko started laughing, hitting the ground and staying there, crouched, his fingers on the floor. The walls were covered in blood, all the other vampires lay strewn around them. "You want to end this? Heh..... I'm not going to kill you hun. You'll be mine." He stood slowly, snatching a sword out of midair, assuming the stance the dopplegangers had stood in. Space and time bent around him, creating an unnatural breeze that made the run-off of his makeshift head band flutter. "You don't stand a chance. It's not my speed you should be worried about, it's your own lack of skill dear."

"I belong to no-one but myself... I would rather die then let that happen," Yuki darted toward him, thrusting her right hand forward in a powerful palm strike directed at his chest. She knew that it was a risky move, but it was clear that this cat was not fooling around. One wrong step and she would be in serious trouble, resting on the mercy of a raving lunatic driven insane by his own desire for revenge. People often called vampires monsters, but what sort of monstrosity was this that had been created in their wake?

The cat chuckled, hearing the air part around her hand as it headed for his chest. With a sidestep, the sound moved harmlessly past him, and in a flash, he was on her back with his arms around her neck. "Gotcha. Tell ya what. That was the most fun I've had in years. If you can hit me, I won't kill you, and you will own the most deadliest, strangest, craziest piece of neko meat ever. Better than fighting with these amateurs."

"I have you now," Yuki hardly even flinched when she felt his arms wrap around her neck tightly her hands reaching up and grasping him as she formed two runes with her fingertips. First, a surge of electricity emitted from her body, through the neko, then up into the air above them where it concentrated then fell back down as another bolt of lightning. All the while, she held a firm grip on him lest he escape and avoid the attack unless he had some way of slipping out without her noticing.

He straightened as the electricity shot through him, but strangely didn't try to escape. He didn't even make a sound as the lightning hit him, but instead nuzzled into her neck. With a content sigh, he whispered into her ear. "Well, look at that. You won. Better kill me now, before I end up making some kind of trouble." That couldn't be adoration in his voice could it? This neko was truly touched in the head.

Yuki, grasping his arm firmly swung him over her shoulder and slammed him into the ground before her, raising her right hand above her head and pointing her fingertips down toward his neck. It would only take a single strike to sever his head from his shoulders and end his life, the life of one who had killed so many of her kind... It would be so simple, and even praiseworthy, yet, something inside her wouldn't let her do it. Instead, she pressed her hand on his neck and cast a sealing spell on him, one that would bind him to her will and make him hers. However much it disgusted her to take him in like this, it had been what she promised she would do if she won. A thick collar appeared around his neck and she released him from her grasp, wordlessly motioning to the neko to follow her as she departed for her estate.

As she came from a well-respected family within the vampire community, Yuki's house was not overly large yet was elegant enough to inspire jealousy in some of her fellow vampires of lower birth. It stood at the top of a small hill, surrounded by a thick oak forest and a dark shadow which shrouded the entire grounds with a rather morose gloom. She walked up to the front door and dispelled the seal she had placed on it before entering, still leading her new neko along behind her. If he went too far away from her, the collar would send a powerful shock through him until he once again returned to her side. It wasn't that she doubted he would play along for now... No, she feared he would play along far too well, until she dropped her guard and he took advantage of the situation. He was like a ticking timebomb. She showed him around the interior of the halls such as the bathroom and the kitchen before showing him the master bedroom, which had an adjourning servant room were he would sleep by himself. She wouldn't let him near her sleeping body, after all.

A breath escaped him as he was slammed onto the ground with enough force to break bones. Nothing snapped though and he purred lightly as he felt the collar on his neck. "Heheheh. Shock collar hm? What, you think I'll kill you something?" As the vampire walked away, he stood and followed, getting close enough to whisper into her ear. "Just so you know, my name is Trystan Nemico. My birthname." Just incase she tried to hit him, he ducked and fell back behind her. The walk didn't take long, and soon they arrived at Yuki's house, surrounded by dark, gloomy forestry.

As they made their way inside, Trystan stopped, brow furrowing in though, wiping a small streamlet of blood from his face. "Nice little place you got here, although it could be bigger. Figured with a name like Scarlet Revenge, you'd have a huge mansion. Must not be as bad as you sound." He laughed lightly, stepping over the threshold, looking around some more as they went through the house. When he was shown the servant's room, he grinned. "What, don't you trust me?" He sighed, shaking his head in mock disappointment. "Hmph. Well, I'll let that indignity go. You wouldn't happen to have any medical supplies here would you? I need to stitch myself up. Take a shower and all that ya know?"

"You can find what you need in the restroom. Its just down the hall, first door to the right," Yuki refused to let herself be lowered to his level, "Now, get out of my sight, Neko, before I tire of your presence any further... You killed many of my fellow vampires right in front of my eyes. If you possibly think I would trust you, you clearly have more problems than just a lack of blood."

She sat down on her bed and began to unfasten the bindings on her dress without even waiting for him to leave. He was just her pet and bound servant, after all, and she had no intention of being prim or proper when around him. She could use him as she desired, but at the moment all she wanted was to put him out of her mind for the time being... She would find some way to put him to use soon enough.

The neko only shook his head. "Loss of blood has never been a problem for me, or were you absent on all they occasions you're.... former friends tried to bleed me out?" He chuckled, making his way to the bathroom and looking around for the supplies. He found them quickly, took them out, and examined them. Gauze bandages, a suture kit, and of course, alcohol. His ears flicked back as he took the bottle of alcohol almost reverently out of the box. "Oh, this will definitely come in handy sooner or later." He also found a rag, and after dumping a generous amount of the rubbing solution onto it, he started to clean his wounds. When that was all said and done, he took the suture kit and opened it, threading the needle without a problem and starting the process of stitching the wounds. And then, he realized something. He couldn't sew his own back. His arms weren't that flexible.

"Uh..... Yuki! I know you want to kill me right now, but since you can't really do that, and I'm sure you'd like to keep me alive until you can, would you mind coming in here and stitching the cuts on my back?" He face palmed, feeling that familiar itch when open wounds were left open for too long. And he never really could resist the urge to scratch, which just made things worse. "Better hurry love. This is a nice carpet, and if I get too much blood in it, it will smell like me forever. And I'm sure you wouldn't want that would you?"

Yuki walked in behind the neko shortly afterward, wordlessly sitting behind him and taking the needle in her right hand and gently holding the wound together with her left. She began to sew up his back, carefully working while her mind began to play over the events mere hours before. Just what had convinced her to make such a promise to him? Why wasn't she killing him right here? Perhaps it was because she believed that he would suffer more if he was under her fist, but a part of her wondered if it was something else entirely. She couldn't put her finger on it, whatever it was.

As soon as she was done, she handed him the needle and walked back out of the room, "Get some rest... I have work for you tomorrow and you will need your strength."

The neko sighed, a feeling of pure bliss comeing over him as that damned itching sensation ceased. "Thank you for that. Would've ended up scratching the shit out of those. Then where would I be?" He stood, stripping himself of his tattered pants, now clad in only a pair of boxers as he searched for new clothes. "Uhm.... I can't exactly sleep covered in dirt and dried blood now can I? It wouldn't befit a vampire of your calibur to be seen walking around with a stupid, low quality neko, now would it?" He found some things that looked like they would fit him, a pair of jeans and a button up shirt, and started up the shower. He'd need to hop in and hop out so he didn't ruin the stitching. With a shrug, he stripped the rest of the way and hopped into the shower, letting out the tiniest of yelps as cold water hit his extremely sensitive back.

"I wouldn't let anyone see me with you even if my life depended on it, although they would likely rejoice to see you tattern, worn, and covered in your own blood," Yuki shot back coldly, "Take your shower and get to sleep already... If you make a make a mess of the house while I'm asleep you will be cleaning the entire estate, both inside and out. Its bad enough that I am keeping you alive... Don't make it any more uncomfortable for me of I will see to it that you regret it."

She laid down on her bed, feeling physically and mentally exhausted. She hoped that every day with him wouldn't be as trying as this one, but she had a nagging feeling that he was not actually tamed... That he had some hidden objective in all of this. It seemed to easy, for him to simply change from a vampire-hating maniac to a wisecrack-spinning neko who spouted sarcastic remarks and seemed reasonably obedient. It just seemed unnatural. Yet, the call of her own nature was making itself known as her waking hours were coming to a close... Her eyes fluttered shut as she listened to the sound of the shower water against the glass.

"Aw.... fuck...... that wasn't the smartest idea in my life...." He shook his head, grabbing the shampoo and soap and washing himself down with the speed of one used to taking quick cold showers. The water turned red as it swirled down the drain, and as the blood and dirt washed off, he returned to his normal, somewhat pale skin tone. A tan neko was kind of rare. When he was all cleaned off, he turned the water off, stepped out, and toweled himself dry. His skin smelled faintly of roses, although it definitely wasn't the soap that made him smell so. Was it natural? In a flash, he was dressed, the shirt buttoned except for the last two buttons on the top, leaving his collarbone exposed. The jeans were loose, allowing him much more movement and somewhat more protection than his shorts. On his neck was a small tattoo, one that had gone unnoticed since it had been covered by blood. It was the mark of protection, one that was commonly seen on a free neko's wallet. It had a snake wrapped around it, the symbol for Trystan's old regiment. The most feared stealth sniper team in the recent history of Kemonomimi rebellions.

Yuki managed to undress herself before falling asleep, although she didn't bother to put her discarded dress (or any of the other articles of clothing that she stripped from her body for that matter) into the laundry chute. As she lay with her head resting on her pillow, her hair spread out like a silver fan, she hoped that he wouldn't cause her any more trouble... At least for the rest of the day, that is. If he didn't show any signs of rebellion, that would be a bad sign, as she knew someone like him would not simply allow himself to be tamed. No, his hate for her kind ran much too deep to allow for that. She managed to fall asleep somehow, the calm expression on her pale face matching that of a porcelain doll, or perhaps a corpse within the grips of a peaceful, yet eternal slumber...

(timeskip to the next night, unless you have something planned?)

With nothing but a slight growl at his 'owner's' untidiness, he picked up the discarded clothes and put them down the chute. "Sleep well love. You'll be the one needing energy for tomorrow." Without another word, another sound, he disappeared to his bedroom. Even though it was small compared to Yuki's, it was much bigger than what he had while being held prisoner. He covered himself, touching the symbol on his neck for luck and protect before letting sleep overtake him. Peaceful, welcome slumber. The best sleep he would get. He was safe for the time being, and although he doubted whether Yuki would keep her word for very long, he knew he wouldn't need much time anyway. The Guntowers and their respective commanders were planning yet another rebellion. This time, they were better prepared. Their weapons would be much more effective. Their armour would be better built. And this time around, their stealth teams would be the bane of all vampires, and any enemy of the Nekomimi race. With these thoughts in mind, he settled in, and dreamed of the bloody battles that were soon to come. He would be in his element once again. Revenge would be sweet.
