Posting Headers

Everyone participating in this group RP MUST post a header prior to their actual post. Be sure to insert your 150h x 100w pixel image of your character into the appropriate location along with the image tag for your character's crest(s) (house crest if your character has been sorted or is a professor, Hogwarts crest if your character is either a professor or has yet to be sorted, in which case it will change later once they are).

Posting Length

Posts MUST be a paragraph (and by paragraph, we do not mean a couple of sentences strung together… but a seriously solid paragraph) minimum. We get that some people like to write a lot while others don't. However, a paragraph minimum is necessary for people to reasonably bounce ideas and dialog and other such things off of one another to keep the game going and the plots and twists both exciting and enticing. So please, adhere to this. If you don't, you will be spoken to by a GM.

Posting Order & The Tagging System

We will be using a tagging system (something that was probably noticed by everyone based on the posting header that everyone will be using throughout the game). This is a good way to let everyone know who you are addressing in your post with your character, who they see around them, who can potentially jump into conversation, etc etc. Overall, it makes it easier to know how conversations can flow. Also, if it's noticed by a GM that people are getting left out time and again, people will be spoken to. Of course, we all understand that sometimes certain sequences require only certain individuals only, but lets try to include everyone or groups of everyone when possible at various times so that people aren't feeling left out. Also, if you notice that there's a scene going on in say a particular area in which it can be interrupted, that's a risk we all take in a group game unless precautions (ie, magically locking a door, etc) were taken before hand! Just remember that! But also, don't be rude and use courtesy when you potentially interrupt something. Seeing as we're all adults, lets do our best to use our best judgment here. If there are issues, GMs can help out and if need be, staff will intervene.

So, long story short, when you post, be sure to say in your posting header who you are tagging. These are those your character is directly addressing, seeing about them (though perhaps not speaking with), possibly overhearing, etc etc. Be descriptive in your tags, but not overly wordy.

Also, if you leave a room (that is, switch threads), at the end of your post you MUST tell us where you are continuing off to (that is, which thread you will be moving to in your next post), otherwise it will be assumed you are staying where you are and the person you are tagging will continue posting in the same thread. If you mention a new thread, the person(s) you tag will continue in the new thread. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR CONTINUITY AND KEEPING TRACK OF WHERE YOUR CHARACTERS MOVE OFF TO!!!! Also, if your character needs to move off to an area in which a thread has yet to be created, do not hesitate in asking a GM about it and they will see to it that staff makes a thread for you (luckily, one of your GMs is the admin… muahaha! Makes it a bit easier, lol).

Posting Time Frames

Group games are only as successful as those who participate make it. So that means people need to post and participate to make it fun and grow and be something enjoyable that moves forward. However, we who participate also have lives outside of RPing. That said, rather than everyone getting antsy, we've made the tagging system to help us out in knowing who is interacting with whom. However, we also say that people have a 3-day time frame for posting. So, please refrain from pestering people to post for their characters who are directly interacting with yours until AT LEAST 3 days have gone by. This is more than reasonable. And those of you who think you might need more than 3 days (or will have any other types of restrictions with times and such when it comes to posting for this group RP, for that matter), we'll make a thread especially for that so that we can let people know about it (this was a tip given to me by some others and it is beyond the best idea EVER when it comes to group games). So, be on the look out for that once the game gets going. A link will be added here once it is up as well.

Posting Threads

Only GMs can make a new thread. If at any point during the RP a new thread is either wanted or needed please seek out a GM to make the thread for you. You can either post the request in the 'request/announcements' thread or PM one of them.
