Arya paused in her tracks, surveying the death and destruction they were faced with. This was wrong, it shouldn't have been like this. She shook her head slowly, and drew her bow, every inch of her on edge. As she passed bodies lying scattered on the ground, she whispered a quiet prayer, for the gods and spirits to watch over their souls in the afterlife. She might not have gotten along well with people, but she was at least compassionate.
Every instinct said to run. The feeling and scent of death and destruction were overwhelming. The monk had had the right idea, by all logic and sense of self-preservation to flee the scene.
Arya, though, forced herself onward. She hurried along behind Emrys, pausing as she reached the altar.
Something was definitely wrong. She shook her head, and started along the edge of the courtyard slowly, nocking an arrow in her bow as she went.
