Lost Companion

Still feeling guilty and halp expecting she wouldn't show up he still packed a lunch for them, and got out a cane for her. When she came down he was relieved. "I'm glad you decided to come, I got a cane for you to help you walk. When used properly it acts as an additional support for a weakened leg, putting less pressure on any healing injuries." The object in question was a carefully chosen cane, that was perfect for the nekos height. It was also artfully carved with symbols of animals running free. "There are some hiking trails of low difficulty that are little more than glorified walks into the various patches of woods we have here. I thought we could go and use one of them, I figure we'll be gone most of the afternoon and be back around early evening. Unless you of course feel too tired to go, and want to turn back early."

She smiled at him when he seemed glad that she came downstairs. Her tail swayed quietly, and she nodded, taking the cane from him. She held it, feeling the perfect height. She liked the design, too. It made her think of what she felt like. She smiled a little as she studied it. She looked up at him again, listening as he described the walks. She nodded. "That sounds alright," she said quietly, her voice scratchy. She shifted quietly. She wasn't sure how long she'd hold up, but she was hoping that she'd be able to keep going the whole time until he decided to head back.

He felt great joy, she seemed to be getting better with speaking, and she was up to the walk in the woods. Opening the door he beckoned her through, and grabbing all of their supplies he took her to the woods being quiet, enjoying the sound and sight of nature. He kept close, keeping a slow pace and an eye on the neko, this was for her and he wasn't going to make her regret it. If she wanted to talk it would be up to her, he wasn't going to push her, he already did enough of that earlier.

Arianna followed after him, looking around at the scenery. She stayed within touching distance, but not too close. Her leg hurt, but she ignored the pain, walking along with him. Her tail twitched as she walked, and her ears would perk up and turn toward birds chirping or squirrels chattering. She looked over at him after a few minutes and smiled a little at him, looking down at her feet. She wondered if he'd figured out where she'd come from. She was sure her Master would start putting out information looking for her. She hoped this kind man wouldn't return her.

"What you think of me?" she asked quietly.

He was surprised when she spoke, and jumped a little. Recovering he looked at her and stoped, thinking of everything that had happened. Then after a few minutes he said "I think your intelligent, strong willed, kind, and beautiful. Whom ever was your first master was a sick twisted man, who didn't know what he had, and nearly destroyed it." Then he stood there feeling like an idiot, not sure what to do, afraid that she would run, or try to leave if he did anything. Then under his breath, and barely audible he said "and I think I love you." There it was, he had laid his heart to bare and was preparing himself for her to run from it.

Arianna looked up at him, listening as he spoke. She nodded quietly. She didn't seem bothered when he said he loved her, though it did strike something in her. Her white ears perked up quietly. He sounded so sincere. Her Master had never talked that way. She kept walking with him, looking down at her feet. "He'll come for me," she said quietly. "He not let me go." She bit her lip quietly and followed after him, her eyes looking up to his face. She was sure her Master's dogs had been tracking her, and would eventually catch her. She'd evaded them, but they would find her eventually, she was sure.

"Don't worry, I'm a vet, I know how to handle dogs. You'd be surprised how easy it is to imobiliz them, or even to gain their affections. I can't tell you how many abused, vicious dogs that wouldn't take to being with anybody are living with happy families because of me. You could stay with me if you want, I will protect you, you can trust me. Now, how hungry are you?" He asked as they got into a wide meadow.

Arianna slowly nodded, a little reassured. She smiled at him quietly, giving a little purring sound. "That's good," she said, her voice cracking as she talked. Her voice was relatively unused. She walked along the path, quiet. She sighed and raised her eyes when the meadow appeared. Her stomach growled as if in answer, and she nodded. "What did you pack?" she asked. She followed him into the meadow, sniffing the fresh, clean air.

"Well I figured that we would be eating a cold lunch so I have an egg salad, some fresh greens, and an assortment of sandwiches such as tuna fish salad, some ham sandwiches, and some peanut butter jelly. I figured I'd provide options for us, in case you didn't like one sandwich." He pulled out a blanket from his back pack, and set it on the ground placing the food in its various containers on the blanket. "I also brought an assortment of drinks as well, I have some water, fruit juice, and soda, what will you have?"

Arianna nodded and slowly sat down on the blanket once he had it laid out. Her ears perked up as she heard the chirps of birds, and her attention was diverted for a few moments before she looked back over at him. "Water," she said. She took the water and began to drink, quenching her thirst. She sat with her leg stretched out to keep it comfortable. She began to eat a tuna fish sandwich, the smell appealing to her. "What's this one?" she asked as she ate it.
