Jake is 28 years old and although runs only a small vet office he is considered to be one of the countries best vets. Graduating at the top of his class in small animals, large animals, and even zoological vet school. He is considered to be a animal genious, but he has one problem. He hates people, when dealing with owners he is short tempered, and holds most to be complete fools. When dealing with his animal patients however, he is kind, caring, and understanding. It is his obsession with the animals safety that has kept him in buisness, and will also hold him in good stead for his future trials.

One night traveling back home he gets out of his car, its a cold night and he notices a form in his garden, figuring it to be another dead animal from the local delinquints he runs into his house to grab a flashlight and some of his basic vet equipment, sometimes they aren't as thurough and the animal is still alive. Going back outside swearing under his breath about poor parenting he shines the light on the form in the garden.

The small form within the bushes isn't an animal in all entirety. The light would catch the whiteness of a pair of ears and a tail, dirtied by running through the woods. But those traits were just about the only animal part of her anatomy. He'd be able to see a lithe body, dirt clinging to her nearly bare form. She wore a grey dress that barely covered enough. Her back was turned to him, red hair flowing down over her back. At first glance, she looked dead, especially with the bruises all over her body and the ugly cut down her leg, swollen and red. But after a few moments, it was evident that her chest was, in fact, rising and falling, just lightly. She was unconscious, having crawled under the bush in a last attempt to hide herself. A red collar was around her throat, the little clasp that should hold a tag hanging empty and broken.

"Damn" He said under his breath, a Neko, even that was obvious from what he could see. He had only seen a few Nekos, and those ones in his last year of college in an advanced animal vet class.

Quickly placing one hand over her head he could tell she was extremely hot, but for a Neko that meant she had a slight fever. Looking at the bruises he judged that although they were numerous and large they were shallow. The only seriously worrying injury seemed to be her leg, and that appeared as though somone had tried to cut her. Judging that she could be moved her brought her inside his house out of the cold, and into his basement where he had a fully preped surgery room ready at all times. Laying her down gently on the cool steel table in the center her tied her arms and legs to the table at her joints so she wouldn't have any leverage to try to fight back should she wake up. Once tied down he grabed a surgery knife and cut away at the fabric of her dress to reveal her full body to him.

The little neko hung limply in his arms when he lifted her up. Once he could fully see her, it'd be apparent that she was rather small. She probably only stood at about five feet and four inches. She was quiet and still as he tied down her arms and legs. She didn't move until her young body began to be revealed to him. She gave a little whimper to show some sign of waking. She began to move a little, her tail twitching slightly, hanging off the edge of the table. She had little twitches in her fingers occasionally, and her throat moved as she gave weak little noises. When she finally opened her emerald eyes, she wasn't fully coherent. She turned her head only to have it fall to the side again, barely aware of what was going on. She began to try to move, giving little distressed whines when she found that she was strapped down. She seemed to weak to be able to truly fight at the moment, but the little protests would be enough to tell that she might be a handful once fully awake.

Realizing that she was waking he ran into a problem. She was weak he could tell, her strugles rather pitifull, but also meant he faced a quandry. He hadn't set up any anasthetics to get her to sleep for fear that in her weakened state it might stop her already weakened heart all together. If he didn't what little she could move would prove to be a problem and a danger to herself. The only choice would be a local anasthetic that would numb the wound on her leg. The only choice after that would be to try and complete a full exam to an already agitated patient, and without a knowledge of her personality could prove quite dangerous to himself.

At the last thought he couldn't help but smile, if he cared about personal injury why the hell did he become a vet? Then proceeded to inject an intervenous injection of an anasthetic. He waited a few minutes to give it affect, and then proceeded to examine the leg. Finding that the bone itself was fractured was the good news. The bad news was that whatever cut her managed to puncture her calf muscle and only barely missed an artery. The next problem was that dirt, and various filth had found itself into the wound. It must be at least a few days old and was beginning to show signs of infection. That meant he would need to sterilize the area and possibly cut away and dead tissue. Luckily the smell from the wound sudjested that there wouldn't be much dead tissue. She was extremely lucky she found him, only a few vets and doctors in the country knew how to treat a neko. So he began and methodically moved to sterilize the wound, remove any dead tissue, stitch the cut muscles together, and finally the wound itself. Finally ending after a few hours with providing a leg brace that would limit mobility, and also keep the fracture from getting worse. Now he moved to her head, by now she should be mostly awake and he needed her to be so in order to check for any brain damage.

"So how is my patient doing this evening" He started compationately.

The little neko could barely see anything, but she could see enough to be able to tell that someone else was in the room with her. She could tell that the movements were different from the person she was familiar with. She whined quietly, giving a low growl when she felt a sharp pinch by the throbbing pain in her leg. When it slowly began to ebb off, she relaxed a little.

She felt some tugging on her leg. Startled, she hissed and began to struggle again. As he fixed up her injured leg, she began to come more out of her haze. She growled at him, her emerald eyes taking him in. She watched when he came over to her head. Her white ears flattened defensively against her head and she growled loudly. She shook her head, pulling against her restraints again. She didn't like feeling trapped, and she didn't like humans.

Frowning slightly at her response it did tell him a few things, she seemed to be able to focus in on objects, and he did notice how she tracked his movements as well. The light however seemed to be bothering her, so all of that sudjested some minor swelling of the brain, causing pressure to build behind the eyes making them slightly sensitive, but no serious damage. What really worried him was her reaction, based on his limited exposure to nekos he has learned that they have anatomies similar to humans, but with some physical differences such as pointed ears, tail, and of course a light fur covering most of their bodies. However, their personalities were usually more closer to animals, still sentient they however responded to personal experiences and made generalizations based on those experiences.

Going to a nearby chair he sat down and stared at her, thinking of her response. Her reaction was one of agression and based on defense, he himself was considered moderately handsome, a fairly stong build, he kept his hair short, and beside a few shallow scratches on his face that people told him made him seem more agressive his face was unmarred. That meant that either his face reminded her of somone or she hated humans. Either way spelled that she had been abused also enforcing what he already believed. As far as he was concerned however it just meant that she needed more care, and a soft expression entered his brown eyes as he stared at her. Getting up he grabed some clean rags with some warm water and proceeded to gently clean her up, being extra carefull around her breasts, her vagina, and her bruises. Trying to impart a sense of peace into his ministrations. In an attempt to calm her down.

Her ears twitched quietly and she growled, squinting in the bright light. She hissed at him as he eyed her over. She squirmed as she tried to escape. She wasn't sure what he thought of her. She clenched her fists and glared at him. Her tail thrashed, puffed up and unhappy. She seemed rather irritated, but still scared. She eyed him, taking in the few scratches. She wasn't entirely sure what to think of him.

When he began to move, her ears flattened against her head again and she growled warningly. She watched as he grabbed a rag and began to clean her up. The startled neko twisted and pulled on her restraints, not liking the touch on her skin. She was wary of him, and she clearly didn't wish to be touched. She narrowed her eyes at him and hissed as she struggled, her little heart pounding as she excited herself.

When she saw that he wasn't trying to hurt her, she looked at him warily, still shying away, but not struggling nearly as much. She narrowed her eyes and growled. What did he want? There had to be something he was keeping her here for.

Once his ministrations were completed he noticed she was quite attractive, though obviously young. He silently went upstairs and picked out some clothes she could wear. Although they were mens clothes and he picked out the smallest ones they should be good enough in order for her to keep some level of modesty, and he picked out the ones made of cotton so that they wouldn't agitate her skin.

Returning with a shirt, and a pair of sweat pants with a hole cout out for her tail he went to the young neko. "I am going to untie you now, don't strugly, and don't put any weight on your leg, its been injured, I have some clothes hear for you, I will go upstairs and when you're done changing just call me back and we can talk. I'm sorry for the fit, I wasn't expecting to find an injured neko when I came home tonight. If you need any help, just call me back." He said quietly and then proceded to first slowly untie her legs, and then her hands before starting back up the stairs to wait for her call. In this way it will get her used to her surroundings, and create a space of safety, and being in the basement there weren't any windows so she could try to escape too soon.

The little neko had to control herself as she waited for him to untie her. When he was finally done and had left, she sat up, her head pounding. She didn't want to be trapped here. She pulled on the shirt and the sweatpants, weaving her tail through the hole he'd made for her. She tentatively scooted to the end of the table and got down on her feet. The first few steps were staggering, and she whimpered in pain. The numbing anaesthetic hadn't helped with the fracture, and it was starting to wear off anyways. She wanted to escape from this place.

She headed for the door, tentatively trying to open the door and get out. She eyed her surroundings, not sure what was going on around here.

Once she reached the landing and looked around she was able to see the house in full. Just off to her left was another set of stairs presumably to the bedrooms and bathroom, in front of her was the main living area with a couple of sofas, a book case, tv, and a rug. Just off of that was the kitchen where she could hear noises coming from. The house although simple and not that big was well furnished. However, before she could move to the door to her far left Jake appeared and quickly interposed himself in front of the door.

"You really shouldn't be moving around yet, you might tear your stitches and you won't make it for than a few yards out the door before you end up falling down again. Now my name is Jake and I am a vet, I found you in my garden unconcious. If you listen to me your leg will be healed and then you can make a brake for freedom." He said softly trying to explain her situation, and to use logic to keep her here. If she tried to leave now she would most likely injure herself and it would be worse than the first time she injured herself.

"Now why don't you grab my arm and I will take you to the kitchen and we can get you something to eat. You can watch me there and make sure I don't put anything wierd in your food, how's that?" He said softly holding out his arm for her.

When he suddenly appeared, the girl hissed at him in surprise and stumbled backwards, almost falling over. She gritted her teeth in pain and glared at him. Her ears flattened against her head, and her tail twitched nervously as she watched him. He was trying to prevent her from escaping. She didn't want to stay here with him. Memories of her old home flooded her head. She growled unhappily.

So he was a vet? She narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously and growled. How long would it take for her leg to heal? Every movement hurt, even with the brace on her leg. She watched him, listening to his words. When he told her to follow him to the kitchen, her ears twitched curiously. She was rather hungry. She wondered if he noticed how thin she was.

She tentatively grabbed his arm and limped after him. She walked stiffly and with her fingers clenched on his arm in order to keep a hold on her balance. Her tail flickered every time she almost fell. She growled unhappily as she followed him into the kitchen, only going to watch him to make sure he didn't put anything in her food.

He supported her and remained calm, what ever had happened to her in her old home had obviously traumatized her. Every moment he was with her needed to be calculated carefully. Any force applied to her would only cause her to become agressive and defensive. He grabed a chair and settled it next to him, and placed her gently into it to give her a good view of what he was doing. Soon he pulled out some fish he had thawing earlier that morning. Pulling out some spices and seasoning mixes he started cooking up the fish and seasoning it. Eventually leaving that he turned back to the neko "Is there anything you would like as as side while this is cooking?" he said softly, backing up slighly so she didn't feel closed in. If being a vet tought him anything it was that scared, injured animals, didn't like feeling traped, or closed in, and that there wasn't an animal more dangerous than one that did.

Arianna's muscles were tense, and when he set her down in the chair, she slowly sat down, her injured leg outstretched. Her emerald eyes followed his movements as he began to cook the food. She sniffed the air, licking her lips a little. Her stomach growled hungrily, and when he turned back, she tensed. When he spoke to her, she tensed, her tail puffing up. She listened to him tentatively, glancing to the side. She pointed at some bread rolls on the counter, looking up at him. Her tail twitched nervously and she shifted, waiting for him to move along and move away from her, even if he was standing back.

Smiling he went over to the dinner rolls, slowly he pulled out a bread knife and started to slice the rolls untill a respectable amount was cut. Then carefully setting it aside and as far away as possible he moved and grabed some butter and a small butter knife. Putting it all on a plate he placed it on the counter next to her before checking the fish. A short while later he deemed the fish done, pulled out a plate and placed it on the plate. When everything was done and set he passed the plate to the neko, and sotfly spoke "Would you like something to drink to go with your meal, I have water, milk, various sodas, what would you like." While doing all this although he was carefull, and respectfull he tried to impart although a lack of fear, a strong desire to help. In his line of work a vet that feared the animals he workded with got bitten and scratched more often than one who didn't. Even though animals still did that to him, he found that they generally were much easier to calm, or even to get to like them afterwards.

She watched him warily as he cut the rolls, pulling them apart and getting some butter and a knife. She looked at them as he placed them beside her, sniffing them tentatively. She licked her lips, but didn't grab anything. She watched him as he moved about, getting the fish for her and setting it on a plate. She sniffed the air, her stomach growling. She tentatively took the plate and stared at it, not sure whether she was allowed to eat or not. She looked up at him, licking her dry lips. She pointed at the milk sitting inside the open fridge door. Milk and fish was about all she had been given before. She watched him and waited for him to tell her she could eat. She shifted uncomfortably, waiting.

"All right milk it is" he said smiling slightly and getting her a tall glass. Looking back at her he noticed she wasn't eating "I didn't put anything bad in it, so why aren't you eating, are you afraid I did something to it?" Then growing more concerned and letting it show on his face as he passer her the milk glass "Are you sure you don't want anything else, a salad, some fruit, would you like me to cook up some eggs; you are allowed to eat more if you want." Then deciding that maybe it was his presence he went to the living are and grabed a fiction book, drew up a chair a respectable distance from her and waited for when she was done, or if she wanted something else.

The little neko looked up at him, her eyes widening almost fearfully when he asked her why she wasn't eating. But he hadn't told her she could! She whimpered and shook her head, starting to eat. When he asked her if she wanted anything else, she shook her head again, tentatively eating the food. She watched as he left, and she was able to relax a little. The girl ate ravenously, wolfing down the food like she hadn't eaten in months and gulping the milk. When she was done, she took the plates to the sink, finding his sponge and starting to wash the dishes, even the ones he'd used to make her dinner. When she was done, she limped to the living room, quietly curling up on the couch with her injured leg outstretched.

She hadn't said anything yet, heck she just did the dishes when she was done. He was mildly put off when she did this, her leg needed rest, her body obviously needed food and drink, and she had released a look of fear when he questioned why she wasn't eating. What kind of place did she come from? He couldn't help but wonder, and so the next step to her returned would probably be the most dangerous for him. He got up, grabed a glass of cool water and placed it on a night stand not too far away from her, then he sat down and gently picked up her leg, and began to massage it, stimulating blood flow. He knew that it would probably hurt, and that she might lash out at his sudden move into her personal space, but if he told her she might become automatically defensive. At least when already holding her leg it would prevent her from retracting it, or attempting to run away. Calmly speaking once more he said "I need to massage your leg in order to get blood flowing, if it doesn't then the blood will sit in your leg, or move very slowly, resulting in any contagions still in it to get stuck and provide more problems, please relax and let me take care of you." The last part he practially pleaded so that she might understand the need for such ministrations.

Arianna tensed when he came over with the glass of cool water. She growled warningly, watching as he set the water down. She waited, and when he sat down and grabbed her leg, the neko hissed and tried to pull her leg away. Not only was he hurting her, but he was also invading the personal space the girl valued so much. She growled and kicked with her healthy leg, growling at him and trying to pull away, though the brace wouldn't really allow her to curl up as well. She gritted her teeth as he rubbed her leg. She narrowed her eyes at him before she let him continue to massage her leg. She didn't want to let him, but she did anyways, sitting there and waiting as he provided the therapy for the healing of her leg. Her tail twitched irritably.

He took the beating of her legs, they hurt yes, but as a vet it was his responsibility and acceptance to take pain for others. As a result he simply waited for her to relax and proceeded with the therapy, as far as he could tell the fracture should only take a few days for a neko to heal from. Muscle on the other hand always to longer to heal, so he figured he had 7-10 days to get her used to him. Once he was done massaging her leg he got up and turned to her "I have an extra bed upstairs, it's next door to my room, but separated and there's a lock on the door. You can use that for your stay here, and if there's anything you need from me all you have to do is ask. My door will remain open for if you decide you need to come in for what ever reason no matter the hour." Suddenly he came to a realization and quickly went down stairs coming up with a pair of cruches. "I forgot I had these, they were for when I was younger, and should fit you reasonably well. They'll allow you to traverse the house by yourself." Then finished he went to bed, leaving her to choose what to do next.

Arianna growled unhappily as he rubbed her leg. She didn't like having him so close. When he began to speak and move, she looked up at him and watched him tentatively, trying to decide how much of his words she should accept as truth. She slowly nodded at the mention of a separate bedroom. The girl frowned when he went downstairs and came back up with a pair of crutches. She'd seen them used only a couple times before. She frowned, and when he left her alone, the girl grabbed the crutches. She slowly rose to her feet, lifting her injured leg and starting to hobble down the hall, her leg throbbing. She found the bedroom he'd mentioned, going to the bed. She yawned tiredly, setting the crutches down and curling up in the blankets. Before long, the frightened neko had fallen asleep in an unfamiliar place.

Early the next morning Jake got up fixed a breakfast, set out some drinks and wrote a note describing a what foods he had made for the young neko, that it was all for her and that she could eat whenever she wanted. He had gone to work, and didn't want to wake her, and sudjested in his note that she use the crutches to maybe explore the house, and the immediate area. However, he did warn in the note that going out too far could be dangerous, for if she slipped, or got lost it would be extremely difficult for anyone to find her. Especially since it was fall and the local wildlife would be out foraging, including some of the more dangerous animals. Her other choices were any of the movies, tv, or puzzles that piqued her interest were also available to her. Then finally that he would be back around lunch to check in on her. His plan was to make her as comfortable as possible, to get her to relax, but he worried most that she would ignore his advice and get injured again, or worse.

The neko woke up, yawning and slowly opening her eyes. It took a few moments for her to remember where she was. She groaned and slowly staggered to her feet, crying out in pain when she put weight on her injured leg. She grabbed the crutches and hobbled to the kitchen, looking at the food and drinks he'd left out. She saw the piece of paper with little scribbles all over it. She knew those were words, but she could only pick out a few words. She bit her lip, not sure whether or not to eat. He seemed friendly enough about the food, and from what she could get out of the note, it seemed like he was gone for now. She grabbed a plate of scrambled eggs and ate it until it was clean, washing the plate in the sink and putting it in the rack to dry when she was done. She drank another glass of milk and washed that, too, before she wrapped the rest of the food in saran wrap and put it in the fridge. She then hobbled out, starting to explore the house. She looked for the best places to hide, the easiest places to curl up in. Her collar jingled quietly as she walked, and she looked down at it, fingering it. She felt that the tag was gone. Was that why he hadn't given her to her owner? She sighed and shook her head, her little ears twitching.

She eventually went into the living room. She didn't know how to work the tv, but she eventually got it turned on to some random show that looked good. The neko laid on the couch for a while, before she got tired of sitting there. She began to explore the cabinets, something she'd never do if the vet were home. She found a jigsaw puzzle, the box depicting a kitten. She sat on the floor with her leg outstretched, watching tv and doing the puzzle. When she had completed the puzzle, she curled up on the couch again, eventually falling asleep.

On his way back he decided that he would try to treat her, and had called a local restaurant who had set him up with a well cooked steak, some bread rolls with butter, and a small assortment of vegetables and fries. He wasn't sure what she liked yet, but decided it would be a good peace offering.

When he got home he found that the tv was on, and a completed puzzel depicting a cat. She had obviously turned on the tv and pulled out a puzzel. A cursory check of the house showed that she had rumaged around looking through the cabinets, and the food he had left out was put away. Whoever she was, she obviously had been owned by somone, and probably somone cruel at that. Finally he set the food down next to the puzzel pulled up a chair and decided to wait. Somone as nervous as she was probably a light sleeper, and he needed to get her to talk, so he figured this to be the best option. By controlling the food, and getting her to associate him with good things would probably be the best way to get her to trust him.
