Unlikely Saviour (Maxy x uberdude0)

(I edited my last post for the horrendous amount of typos that no doubt added to the confusion.)

"They'll have to if we finally want to have any success," the wolf sighed. It was hard to tell if he believed that Drake would make a suitable champion. He probably wasn't holding his breath, considering his country had been losing for a hundred years. "The sorceress should be able to tell you everything that is required of you. The war lord will be in charge of your training and will grant you safe passage to the Citadel where you'll face the other champions. The war lord...is a bit unpredictable."

The wolf waited for Drake to finish eating. "The war lord is an dragon, and a rather selfish one at that. About thirty years ago we had a very promising lad as our champion. The orc decided he liked this young man and decided to keep him. He threatened to kill the boy if we tried to rescue him...For all we know the lad was already dead."

He figured Drake was extremely worried about meeting the war lord now. "Don't worry. He's calmed down a bit, got himself a mate or something. We haven't had any issues."

"Uhhhh...." Drake swallowed nervously as the War Lord's......habits...were explained to him. This whole situation already felt frightening enough as it is, something like that only made him feel even worse! "W-well uh....g-glad he's calmed down....st-still...." Drake rubbed his head and glanced away. "How about um.....how about we go and see this Sorceress first...? I mean....if she can explain everything that might help....and...well....maybe she can cast a spell to make me stronger or something....I don't know...." He was just babbling out ideas, but it seemed to comfort him a little. More than just doing nothing would anyway. "I...can't promise I can do this but....I get the feeling that my only way back home is to at least try...."

Listening to Drake stammer didn't make the wolf feel any better about their chances of finally getting some relief from the various curses and plagues they were forced to live with daily. The country was basically a no-man's zone. Normal humans could not go anywhere without the threat of being raped, killed and/or eaten.

"The sorceress is a two day's journey from here. She usually casts spells that will enhance your strength and give you resistance to a few spells. She can't really do anything fancy, and I wouldn't trust her to if I were you."

He stood up and shook himself, starting to walk away before pausing. "I'm Sir Grigor, grey knight of Celeste. I'll be with you for this journey."

"Two days?" Drake glanced up, then around slightly. Well they were definately walking....he doubted there was any kind of transport besides horse riding around here. "O-oh....I'm Drake..." He started to walk besides the wolf, glancing up at him, unsure if he should offer to shake hands or not, though eventually he decided to, slowly offering his small hand. "It's um....it's nice to meet you Sir Grigor....." He looked back ahead of them, sighing as he thought of the long journey ahead. "Anything this sorceress can do....." He rubbed his head. "I'm going to need all the help I can...."
