It had been less then a week sense Nevaeh along with the other so called â??Resortsâ? had been locked down. Yet, it was not quite time to unlock the doors to the hotel rooms and let the survivors out to roam over there new home. Nevaeh was a rather large â??Resortâ? about 40 or so square miles of park, farms, housing, golf course and the mall and hotel that made up its heart toward the front. Guarded by its large castle like walls, the work outside them locked out. Nevaeh was made to run with out help from the outside world, it had it own power, its own water souse, its own TV and radio stationsâ?¦.its own way of communication with the other resorts. Built to survive the apocalypse its designer created to wipe out all he saw unworthy.
Dr. Varick was his name, owner of one of the largest Medical Companies and a group of Five stars Resorts around the world. The doctor had been plotting all of this for year. Building 55 resorts around to world to house the people he chose to survive. Making the virus that would spread quickly and bring down the race he hated so much. All so that he could restart and make a world he saw best. Unleashing the deadly virus that his Company has been working on for the better part of the new century. Little did he know that over 40 of his beloved resorts had fallen into the hands of one of his creationsâ?¦Gail.
Such a rare blood type that when mixed with the virus created a new race. Human in ever sense of the word but so much more. So much smarter then what the great Doctor Varick had planned. Gail and the rest of the group Varick chose to run his resorts getting a hold to much needed information and using it to take over. Invitations sent out to save more then what Varick wanted. Random people and there families saved by a "Fully Payed Vacation for them and there families.â? Even if it was only six thousand people per resortâ?¦.even if they could hold over twenty thousand with out being over populated. Gail and her people had to think about the years to come. Knowing all to well what the virus could do and now long they would be locked behind the walls of their sanctuary.
_______
Gail let her upper body lean over the guard rail that kept her from falling from the fourth level of mallâ??s food court. Tomorrow was on her mind, the day her and her brethren would free Nevaehâ??s population from their rooms. After all they had been locked up in there hotel rooms ever sense they got here. Her plan had worked for all 40 resorts, six of them in the United States alone. Inventions going out to all corners of the world. In Nevaeh alone six military units came freely to Nevaeh after the resort offered to host there military ball free of charge, then there was the three internet sites that came for a convention, the four foot ball teams that just wanted to get away for a month, a few other random conventions and get together for random groups and people, plus all the random invitations that where just sent out to anyone and everyone who was willing to make the trip with there family and all the people that â??Took Jobsâ?? in the resort and its large four level mall. And yet something seemed to be on the master mindâ??s mind.
Red orbs just watching the empty mall as a few of the people that helped her sat behind the thinking girl. All drinking their coffee and talking about random things. Chatting about how everything went so well not only for Nevaeh but for all the other places they took over. Yet Gail never moved from her spot to join in.
â??You know Gail no matter how much you think about it you did all you could,â? Gail knew that voice. She had known it for a while now, looking over to her side to see a young man standing next to her. His name was Clayton and he was a few years older then Gail was. Short brown hair kept in a medium military fade, the color no longer matching his golden red eyes. They use to be brown. He stood a good six feet tall, a slender yet well build form. Not to big, not to little. All in all a rather handsome guy. But Gail was not bad looking herself.
Earthen hued bangs framed a gorgeous face that harbored eyes that were once hazel replaced by bright red orbs, a ring of gold just around her pupils. The human kept a slender body that held curves in all the right places, muscles there even it they could not be seen. An elegant hourglass figure topped with an ample, yet modest, bust. Her skin was lightly kissed by sun to give warm glow about her. Her voice rather quite as she spoke to her friend, â??I know, just canâ??t help but fell as if we could have done a little more.â?
â??More could have always been done, if we had the time to do it. We did the best we could with the time we had. All thatâ??s left is to make sure when we let this people out tomorrow we give them the best life we can.â? Claytonâ??s voice seemed to ring in Gailâ??s ears. It was strong, yet calm and relaxing. The kind of voice that seemed to melt your worries away unless he wanted you to worry. â??Did you talk to Zik about getting the TV and Radio stations up? I know he some kind of internet thing going on with in the Hotels and Mall but I think he had questions about what you wanted when it came to TV and Radio wise.â?
â??Funny what you can think off when you have the time humm?â? Gail could not help but smile as she talked. Eyes never moving from the empty levels of the mall, â??Yea I talked to him about it. Decided to work like basic cable and XM radios you know. Heâ??s already setting up his little shop where he will be running it from. What that guy can do with a few DVDs, CDs and a Computer.â?
What a company Gail seemed to keep with her, most of them where like her. A Sheik, humans but gifted with a rare blood type. When mixed with the virus their blood made a natural antivirus which enhances more then there immune system. Most develop a Extrasensory perception skill of some sort, other develop a skill weather it is with plants or electronicsâ?¦.a rear few called â??Dreamersâ? develop a rather dangerous skill. Something that still most keep to themselves. Gail was one of these â??Dreamers.â? Turning around slowly as she rested on the railing, she turned her view to look at the rest of her crew.
D and S, nick names given to them when they where still in the army. Both â??Guardiansâ? as far as their Sheik skills went. Abilities to sense the virus in others from miles around, a skill most useful this day and age. The blood in these brotherâ??s kept them fit and healthy. Both stood about six foot two, brown hair, golden red eyes like Clayton. While S sported a lean frame and an almost friendly face D was more hardened, with piercing eyes and a scar running over his left eye. It was funny when most found out that D was a few years younger then Sâ?¦.most thought the other way around.
Then there was Abby another female Sheik. Abby was blind so you could not see her eyes but with out her gift Gail and the others would have never known what was going to happen. Abby was a Clairvoyance, able to see things before they happened. The young goth girl sported long black hair and the pail body to match. Often quite unless something was about to happen.
Zik, Oh Zik. If Clayton was Gailâ??s right hand man Zik was her left. The Techno ran the resorts power grid and was working on making the resorts own TV and Radio stations so most could live a normal life. He also made sure that the resorts could communicate with each other. Building a internet like system that hooked up the computers in the resorts. With his blond mess hair and his dark red eyes that were once blue. The boy looked more like a street punk then a computer genus. While his female counter part Aleena also called a Techno was not a Sheik but a normal human. None the less she was no less valuable.
Aleena ran Nevaehâ??s security monitors, and was the one that hacked into the good doctorâ??s bank accounts and got them the money needed to fund there little rescue operation. Needless to say Gail had to trick the young hacker into doing this. Like Gail she was chosen by the "good" Doctor to partake in his experiments. She was an orphan girl and had no one that would miss her. Two things that allowed for Dr. Varick to do what he needed on her. At the chance for a new life and be needed ,Aleena Jumped at the chance, not knowing what was about t happen to her. The doctor experimented with her and practically brain washed her, turning her into a rather useful tool like the rest of the Sheiks. However, her loyalty was still to the Doctor, grateful for the "new life" he had given her. Poor girl was still waiting for him to return to Nevaeh, little did she know Dr. Varick was most likely being torn apart by the virus he created.
Yet Gail and the others would not tell her anything. Letting her believe that Dr. Varick changed his mind about the population on the "Resorts." Letting her believe that the Doctor wanted to save as many people as he could because he could not stop his deadly virus. Even though Gail knew differently, after all the rescue operation was her idea. She just left the Doctor out of the loop as she took over his safe havens.
And then there was the rest of the people in Nevaeh, all six thousand of them. Give or take a few. All locked away in their hotel rooms or as far as the group thought. Not to be let out until noon tomorrow, it would be then that their life would really begin. Laws had to be made and enforced, a system of money had to be made so that the population would not strip the mall and other stores dry. Jobs had to be given even if most the survivors had been hired to work in the resort and already had jobs with in this community. But still some did not. So much still needed to be worked on and so much needed to be done. Maybe that was why the dreamer was so deep in thought even if everyone else seemed not to worry.
_______
Lunch was quick as the sun glared down threw the skylight over the mallâ??s food court. It seemed that Clayton and finally talked Gail into taking a seat and getting a bit to eat. Hell it was rare to see the girl sit down, most believed that she had not slept sense before everything wend down. Eyes watched the ice in her drink start to melt and shift around. Red orbs only looking up once everyone moved from there tables and went on there way to try and finish there own projects. Even Clayton left Gail to her thoughts as she finished her drink before, like the rest, getting up and going along her way.
The mall was a rather large place one could most likely get lost in this place if they wanted to. Five-hundred-eight stores, not counting the other major stores, almost one-hundred restaurants and carts, standing at four levels high. The resort hotel was just as big. Just over nine-thousand, nine-hundred rooms equally spread out over 30 floors. Even if the ball rooms where not turned into barracks squid bays like most in the military once stayed it. They housed the singles that came with out family that where under the age of twenty-five, but still they where nice.
Gail made her way down the halls looking at one hotel room door after another, her movements with out sound. Her mind somewhere elseâ?¦somewhere before all this happened.
