Liz waited until Bob had headed off before she too got in her car. She could hear Maxine cleaning in the rooms above her, so left quietly without saying anything.
She got into her car and drove the short way to her home. She retrieved the mail and packed a duffle bag of clothes and essentials. She’d come back for the rest at some other point in time. She locked everything tight, then headed to her car.
She stopped for a coffee though the local drive through and then headed on to work. Her desk was swamped with paperwork, graduate requests, and a small colour envelope that peaked out from under the mountain of white documents. Liz smiled, she dug out the envelope and set it in the drawer with her purse. She’d read it on her break, wondering how Bob had made his appointment with the Dean and managed to find time to swing by the library.
She sighed. Start from the top and work down, she thought a moment before diving into the litany of requests and procurements she had to go through.
